Dumplings are homemade and outstanding. Pad thai solid, could be a bit saucier and less dry. Cons: Please use an unscented spray/cleaning product for the restaurant. Nobody wants to smell cleaning products when they eat! The restaurant is dirty. Please keep it clean. Terrified to know whats going on in the basement kitchen. Not many great Thai places in Connecticut, but this one in Westport was pretty good. We got spring rolls, green curry, a tofu dish and pad Thai. The spring rolls and green curry were very good, but the green curry could've used a bit more spice. The staff here weren't friendly even though the restaurant and took a while for a wait staff to come by to us to place the order. The food came out very slow and some of it wasn't warmed off or just cooled off quickly. I probably wouldn't come back but if craving Thai, it isn't a bad spot to stop by. read more

Tucked along the Saugatuck River, Rainbow Thai is my go-to spot for Thai food in Westport and easily the best in town. I came in for lunch and ordered the Tom Kha soup and pineapple chicken curry lunch special. Everything was served at the perfect temperature. The soup was warm but not too hot, and the curry was rich and flavorful with rice that was just right. The chicken in both dishes was thin, juicy, and tender. The veggies were fresh and crisp, and I especially loved the burst of cherry tomatoes in the Tom Kha. The pineapple curry is always a favorite of mine. If you are coming for dinner, I highly recommend the pineapple duck curry. For lunch, their curry special is a fantastic deal at just $11.95 for a decent selection of curries with chicken. The service is always friendly and thoughtful. The timing was perfect, I finished my soup just as my entree arrived. Inside, the space feels warm and welcoming with lots of natural wood. If you get a table by the window, the river view makes the experience even better. They also do great takeout, but it is worth dining in for the atmosphere and hospitality. It was a delicious shrimp with crispy rice noodles and some veggies in the sweet-and-sour sauce. Really delicious. I ordered delivery through grubhub one rainy night. It arrived piping hot and on time. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai & veggie spring rolls (since I had to hit the $20 minimum). The spring rolls were good, wouldn't say they were something special but they were flavorful and crispy and the tangy plum sauce complimented it nicely. The shrimp pad Thai came with 6 shrimps with tails on (ugh) and two small cuts of a scallion stalk. I saw the menu didn't say that it come with cilantro so I requested them to add some in the notes which was ignored. Overall the flavors were okay without much depth. They fry their rice with curry giving it a very unique taste (I feel like each Thai spot has its own take). It quickly became the highlight of the whole meal as everything in the dish complemented each other. Everything else was good. Tried a number of different dishes - pad se ew, noodle soup, chicken skewers and penang curry. Of those, penang curry probably comes next. It was rich, flavorful and filled with veggies. A curry that I could probably each multiple times and pour over any sort of rice dish. Nothing else went past the average expectations. Still, overall a 5-star given the service and convenience. Parking was easy, and place was easy to get to. I told the waitress that I would get there at a certain time and the food was hot when I got there. Discovered this restaurant by chance, and its our favorite Thai restaurant in the Westport area. Cosy and quiet feel inside the place, and if you're visiting during the daytime you can get a nice view of the water on one side. Our favorites are the Penang curry, Red curry and Drunken noodles (extra benefit is that the restaurant can prepare the dishes without fish sauce, which is what we prefer). A hidden gem off the river, this Thai restaurant boasts beautiful views of the river and delicious Thai cuisine. I have eaten Here before and the food was amazing! Not today... Today I got vegetable curry that was spicy it was too hot to even eat. To make matters worse the vegetables were not cooked. The staff was friendly, professional and there when we wanted them. The food was great! We started with the chicken cashew lettuce wraps. There were three of us and it worked out that they brought 3 large pieces of iceberg with a nice helping of ground chicken with a spicy sauce and cashews and crunchy veggies. 2 of our team got the drunken noodles with chicken and beef they both really enjoyed them. One added some chili paste while the other though they were spice enough. I had the wok chicken and veggies with basil sauce. This was really nice with plenty of flavor for me. I ordered drunken noodles chicken and like many restaurants you pay more for dinner but, get a larger portion so needless to say that's what I was expecting. I tried their Tom yun goong soup and Thai iced tea this time. The soup wasn't that good..it's made with shrimp broth and has mushrooms, tomatoes, cilantro, and shrimp in it. It just didn't taste that good. Also they said it's suppose to be spicy so I didn't get extra spicy, however it wasn't spicy at all ...but their Thai iced tea was really good!!
