A friend recommended so I had to try. We came as a small group for lunch PARKING - being on blackrock in Bridgeport parking can be harder. However, there is a lot attached to the restaurant that is actually owned by the city of Bridgeport so you should be good OUTSIDE - the outside painting is totally black. In fact the front door is on the side and is also black making it hard to see the door handle DECOR - once inside the color scheme is very bright with a number of tables and even more on the second floor. Very ample space and many tables. HOST - the host area when you come in is mostly non existent we waited a minute for someone to come but their greeting was tremendously congenial and pleasant MENU - a very large menu and a supplemental special list. The cuisine is very Thai and there is plenty of dishes to try WAITRESS - she was unbelievably nice with answers to questions and solid recommendations based on your heat tolerance APPETIZERS - we tried the Thai wings that were excellent , moist with a spicy and sweet taste. The dumplings were also super and flavorful. The prawn appetizer was very good. I didn't try but others liked them very much ENTREES - definitely try the squid dish. It is very good and cooked perfectly so no rubbery squid. The sauce is unique and very tasty The Thai roast pork rice was excellent and had a great flavor The roast duck rice from the special menu was also a hit. Flavorful and tasty LIBATIONS - we had to try the Thai beer which was decent. Kind of a cross between Sapporo and a light Becks with a semi sweet taste DESSERT - we were to full to try so you'll need to fill in the gap here PRICE - I was treated and didn't see the bill. However, in fairness you got great food but very very expensive. You get what you pay for and I'd come back knowing you need a thicker wallet LOL read more

We finally visited this place and it has quickly become one of my favorite spots. The first time we made reservations and the second time we went for happy hour. The decor is really nice. I was caught by surprise because I remember the previous restaurant which was very dark and this was the opposite. It was so bright and nicely decorated. For appetizers we have tried the sausage and fried calamari. We loved them both. For my entree I had the crispy pork belly and I was blown away with the amazing flavors. My girlfriend had the Lychee duck and she absolutely loved it. The service is really good. Everyone at this place wants to make sure your dining experience is top notch. We really enjoyed the bartender when we stopped in for happy hour she was really sweet and offered some great suggestions. We will definitely be back!! read more

This has been on our list and we finally got around to checking it out and can't wait to already return. This place is a gem in Black Rock and we need to get the word out! Restaurant is beautifully decorated. We sat at the bar and enjoyed their happy hour and bites as well as entrees. Had plenty to bring home for lunch tomorrow. Food was phenomenal! The salmon fried rice is a sight to see and will satisfy your taste buds. Our service was a wonderful and everything came out pretty quickly. read more

We had a great experience and an education! Interesting Cocktails ( one of our party of four, mixes super cocktails), he was not disappointed. All our meals were delicious, and I believe authentic to Thai Cuisine. It's a nicely decorated space and the Servers were helpful and enthusiastic about their menu, which we appreciated. Mother's Day weekend + a Friday night meant this restaurant was extremely busy, especially with us booking a same day reservation. As first time visitors, we expected a bit of a wait for service, and while it did take some time to get started, the staff was clearly working hard with a packed crowd. The best part? The food and drinks came out pretty quickly, and everything was absolutely delicious. From start to finish, the flavors did not disappoint. Enjoyed my experience here a lot! I came here for happy hour and got some drinks and bites along with an entree. The happy hour options are great, lots of variety for drinks and bites. Food menu is large with lots of choices also. I got the garlic jumbo prawns - amazing!! The interior decor was beautiful as well. Great Thai spot! Only thing I didn't love was the parking which can get crowded and you end up street parking. read more

I've read all the rave reviews and had to go check this place out. Ironically, this was the old Black Rock Social and my husband I had a fond memory of his band playing there 2 weeks before they closed. Anyway.... The decor was beautiful. I couldn't even recognize the place but it was bright and airy. The food selection was great. I got the Masaman and my husband got the Drunken Noodle. We also got the Thai Dumplings. Everything was on point. Delicious, good portions but just a tad too salty for me. The service apart from one small issue was great. I asked for pineapple in my masaman and the waitress argued with me that it changes the flavor. Um... yes I know that. But she was so insistent that I relented. Always give the customer what they want... But it was still good. We left there with our belly's full and content. When I'm in the area, I'll go back. I do have my main staple closer to me. I am ridiculously lucky to live in a neighborhood with great food -- and our newest addition, September in Bangkok, just raised the bar. My friend Ms. J and I went last Friday, right after they opened. No liquor license yet -- but there's a liquor store literally across the street, so honestly... problem very creatively solved. The vibe inside is beautiful and festive, and the service was impeccable, especially impressive for a brand-new spot. Now, the food. This is where I get picky. I'm a good cook, and I only give glowing reviews to places that serve food I cannot make better at home. This place qualifies. I had the Pad Thai, and it was fantastic. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and all the layers of flavor were there -- salty, sweet, just the right amount of spice. The fresh crunchy peanuts, cilantro, and radishes took it over the top. The portion was generous enough to become my lunch the next day... and I'm happy to report it was still delicious after being microwaved, which is the true test. Ms. J, ordered the Chicken Massaman Curry and OMG -- an absolute explosion of flavor. It comes with a gorgeous purple rice, which the very sweet waitress explained is colored naturally with a purple flower. She even offered to show us the flower! Good food brings people together, and you could feel it in the room -- tables talking to each other, sharing what they ordered, that happy buzz that only happens when everyone is eating well. Go. This is our second time here. All four of us agreed it is the best Thai restaurant food we've ever had. The food was excellent, as it was the first time. Though the entrees came out a bit before we had finished our first courses, they took them back, and they still came back out delicious; so no-harm-no-foul. We had the same excellent and feisty server (Rissa), who enhanced the experience. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The decor is subtly beautiful. Since it was a Thursday night, the noise level was much lower than on our prior (a Friday night) visit. We will go again, either midweek or early on a weekend day. read more

Finally open in Bridgeport! September in Bangkok is our family's favorite for incredible Thai food, and we'd travel to new haven for it. We've been watching this location for several months and are so happy September in Bangkok has finally opened! We had a terrific meal last night -- tasty Thai food with modern and innovative twists. The servers were super friendly and the kitchen clearly knew what it was doing. All the food was beautifully presented and came out efficiently. We decided to make a meal out of appetizers so we could try more things. We asked for the Tea Leaf Salad and the Thai Ceviche as a "first course". Both were fantastic. Then as our "entrées" we had the Grilled Pork Spicy Jeaw and the Thai Tacos with Grilled Flank Steak. The pork was the standout dish of the meal -- piping hot right off the grill with a perfect char, tender and juicy inside. The sauce was yummy and there was a nice salad on the side. It was a generous quantity of meat, and could easily have been a meal by itself for a person with a light appetite. The ceviche was our next favorite -- we ate up the warm, coconut chili dressing like a soup after we'd picked out all the tender seafood. The tea leaf salad was substantial and delicious with sunflower seeds, coconut, mango, tomato, peanuts, sesame seeds and fermented tea leaf with garlic and ginger. We were pleased the mango was green, not ripe and sweet, as that would have thrown off the balance of the flavors. The Thai tacos were good, but our least favorite of the four dishes -- the steak was disappointingly chewy after having the tender pork, and the tacos were messy to eat, though of course that's to be expected with tacos. There were lots of options for curries and noodle dishes where you pick your protein then select from a tempting list of different sauce/seasoning/vegetable combinations. You could have endless fun trying them all, and I have a feeling they're all great. They don't have their liquor license yet, so many people had come prepared with their own beer and wine. September in Bangkok is a great new addition to the Black Rock culinary scene. We look forward to dining on the front and back patios when the weather warms up. Pricey. Delicious. But the service was absolutely lacking. Drinks came relatively quickly, but after we ate the appetizers, which came out willy-nilly, we were ignored for more than half an hour. We were then (apparently?) expected to reuse our sticky appetizer plates and utensils for the entrées and had to ask for them to be cleared; also had to ask multiple times for more napkins. Entrées took forEVER to arrive and were delivered in a haphazard, 10-minute window (and not to the person who ordered them). Then we struggled to get the check. Also quite noisy, and both of the unisex bathrooms were..."untended to" (one completely unusable). UPDATE: I have been contacted by the restaurant's owner, who made this right. I've tried many thai restaurant, and I've made a goal to try every thai restaurant in Fairfield County. Being a southeast Asian myself, I am very unimpressed with the thai foods I've tried around here. But I must say, this is the most amazing thai food I've had in a very long time, and probably have ever had. Staff was very friendly and the service was quick. September in Bangkok is a lovely experience any time of year and any day of the week. The food is Thai but if you simply want chicken and sticky rice just ask. The menu has wonderful starters and main dishes. They have a wonderful list of cocktails that they make ... very special and they taste like something you would not expect to find so conveniently located. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The tables are all comfortable and the background music is a delight. If you are drinking and dining alone you might enjoy a welcoming seat at the bar. Unfortunately we went on a Wednesday evening and the service was HORRIBLE. No one was in front to greet us. We ended up seating ourselves. I ordered the massaman tilapia curry and asked for sticky rice. No rice came out with the curry. I asked 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE for rice NO ONE brought it. I couldn't eat the meal. Never have I ever NOT left a tip; but I did this day. ALSO Not once did our waiter return to check on us. IDK how this place has so many stars. read more

Had dinner at September in Bangkok last night. They have a liquor license now with an extensive cocktail menu and limited wines and beer. The markup on liquor is over the top. I had a very small pour of wine for $14. I like the old BYOB set up better. The decor is beautiful and very tropical. Noise level is very high, and without a reservation at 6pm, we had to take two of the few seats left at the bar. Bartender and wait staff seem overwhelmed and trying too hard to be "cool." Despite all this, the food is delicious. I had a special--stir fry duck with assortment of vege, all well spiced. My companion had a chicken curry dish which was also delicious. I may come back for another try but prefer a cozier, more laid back atmosphere. read more

I recently visited a newly opened Thai restaurant in Fairfield/Bridgeport and had a pleasant experience overall. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a great spot to unwind for a casual dinner. We started with the papaya salad as an appetizer. While it had all the right elements, I felt it could have used a little more of a punch in terms of spice and flavor balance. It was good, but not quite the zing I was hoping for. The samosa rolls with sauce was very good. For the main course we had fried rice which was fragrant, flavorful, and had the perfect texture--definitely one of the better versions I've had in a while. Paired with the spicy broccoli dish and green curry which was cooked to perfection, the meal really hit the mark. The vegetables were crisp and fresh, and the sauce was savory without being overpowering. One thing to note is that they don't have a liquor license yet, so it's a BYOB situation. I actually liked this because it gave us the freedom to bring our favorite drinks without any added markup. It worked out perfectly! Overall, it's a great addition to the neighborhood, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they evolve. Definitely worth a visit for some solid Thai food with a temporary BYOB twist! read more

The service was poor. Our particular waiter was inattentive at best. 1. Took forever from being seated to even being acknowledged by a server. About 20 minutes of being seated. We did have a reservation at 1 and showed up about 15 minutes early so I'm counting the wait time from 1. 2. Once ordered, drinks came first (my particular one had a huge chunk of square ice cube taking up most of the volume of the glass but the drink was on the stronger side which was good) and then came the appetizers (not much of a wait after ordering for those). 3. I got my main dish a little bit after the appetizer but my mother was waiting for her food for about 20 minutes, having to flag down a different server. The food was immediately placed in front of her and unfortunately cold. 4. "Menu misprints". I ordered beef fried rice, directly priced at $19. Ones without pricing do not have any protein listed (beef, chicken, seafood, etc.) but there were prices for those under the title of the section ($25 for beef). The check price was $25 and I asked the server to take a look at it because what I ordered was outrightly priced at $19. He said it's just a menu misprint.... Yeah... I'm sure. I decided to not make a huge fuss about it and just remove the difference from the tip. Overall, good food. Service most likely hit or miss. This was our first time there and I don't think we will be returning. The wait time gave me opportunity to observe the other servers and they clearly had a better understanding of the job. read more

They recently opened up their second location in Connecticut and the food was just as good as the one in New Haven. The decor was beautiful throughout entire restaurant very spacious. It is byob right now but liquor store was right across street so it was fine. Would recommend anyone to come try to it best Thai food in CT read more
