I'll start by saying I ordered an Uber eats and I was very disappointed with the way it was packaged everything came open. Why the five stars though? No, I did not make a mistake. I was too nervous to eat the order because everything was truly just kind of left opened and not sealed and I have massive trust issues. So I called the café in hopes that somebody would care and really they did! Chef Richard (or maybe just Richard) was so sweet and completely understanding and told me that it made complete sense to him while I was worried about eating the order and he told me that he would remake the order and completely refund me and I thought that was absolutely sweet. Yes the order wasn't great the first time but the way he made up for it made me so happy and he threw in a few extra extras in there for me. It was awesome. He is awesome and I love the café because I get the tomato soup every single time and it is my favorite thing. Lemon ricotta cookie is just awesome!! Thank you, Richard. You did an awesome job making it better. (Shout out to Tom who was trying to get me my refund). I appreciate how much you all cared and didn't make me feel dumb. 10/10 read more

Good stop for an afternoon snack. ***Chicken Pasta Rossa from the Chef's Fresh Sheet*** ($12.50): Fresh and generous amount of toppings! Ingredients: fusilli pasta, grilled chicken, bacon, mushrooms, organic baby spinach, tomato basil cream sauce. I really loved the pasta. The chef gave a generous amount of toppings and the sauce lasted throughout the entire meal. It's a bit pricey for what you get, but the ingredients were sourced locally so you know it's worth. Chef's Fresh Sheet is separate from the main cafe menu. The items on this menu are unique to each Nordstrom Cafe as the dishes are composed of fresh locally sourced produce. I've been coming here forever and finally got around to writing a review. I was going to give 4 stars at first but really when I think about it this is a solid 5 for what it offers. I'm very surprised by the low rating, especially considering the other dining options in the mall. I've done all of them- and most of them are (if I can be honest) corporate garbage. The service here has always been excellent, the food quality probably the freshest of anywhere in Somerset. I've yet to have a bad meal, and I've tried most everything on the menu. The crab bisque is to die for, also the fresh berry salad and the wild salmon with roasted vegetables and farro. When I come here with company they will split dishes in the back upon request. The bread is delicious. The food quality here is better than Capital Grille without the pretense or price. Spoken by an industry insider who knows what they are talking about. I know all the chefs, suppliers... this is a 5 star place and it does what it does well especially considering the high rents. What I really appreciate most about this place is you can come here with your book or a laptop, enjoy a nice meal and glass of wine and you aren't rushed. It's usually less than half full and there are nice window views. The servers are very pleasant and seem to really care about what they do. I really don't get the people criticizing service- I guess maybe that's because I used to wait tables. I find if you treat people well they take care of you... maybe some of these other diners should take note. Literally in all of my 12+ years of dining here the worst I can really think of is somebody young and not quite polished maybe rushing around a bit. Not exactly the worst at a nice bistro. My drink never sits empty. The French press coffee is excellent as well. It is a tad expensive but well worth it for the quality. I will make sure to visit again when I shop Somerset. Shame on the people giving bad reviews- you take the one good place besides Neiman Marcus and trash it. We need to support these places and make sure they stay in place. I have flagged the person who said the service person spoke 'like she was special ed'. That is verbal abuse and disgusting to a person who has a parent that worked with the special education community for 42 years. Not okay and I hope that review comes down soon. read more

Went here for lunch today with some coworkers, we sometimes do the Somerset food court so this was definitely a step up. I used to go here with my mom and I remembered the food as being good. It's a bit overpriced, IMO, but the food is great. I had the Chicken Mozzarella Ciabatta and you could choose a small serving of chips or salad with it. I opted for the salad (especially since we all split a red velvet cupcake too - $3.50 but delicious) and I got the dark cherry vinaigrette dressing on it, which was thick rather than runny and tasted great. You order and pay up front at the cash register, then a waiter comes and check out your receipt(s) and brings you your food. It's a little confusing because there were double copies of each receipt, so we all took one copy, then the waiter asked for them back ... I wasn't sure if you were supposed to tip afterwards, too, though I assumed you were (ie, places like Noodles don't require tips, but they tell you that - but here people were bringing you your food, refilling water glasses, etc). I wish you could have added a tip on your credit card bill but perhaps you had to ask, so we left cash. I'll be back here at some point though when I want something more gourmet for lunch :) very good food. read more

The service was just okay since it's so busy during lunch. Ordered the cranberry turkey sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich was great. The bread was toasted just right and the turkey mixed well with the cranberry sauce and sprouts (think thanksgiving dinner). The side salad was okay but the ginger sesame dressing made up for the veggies. A little different than your usual sit down restaurant because you order your food at the cash register at the front, then you sit and wait for a waiter to bring you your food. read more

Came here with my mom the other weekend when we needed to take a break from shopping and grab a bite. My mother has some dietary restrictions and the staff was more than accominding. From pointing us to different menu options she could have to customizing a dish for her. They really went above and beyond to make sure she could enjoy her meal. I had the grilled cheese with asparagus, it was very good. The chips is came with were also good, just a little over seasoned for my taste. It never occurred to me to eat at this Cafe inside of Norstrom's department store. I went with a couple friends who had been before and was very pleasantly surprised. I agree with the comment of "upscale cafeteria". You order at the counter when you first come in, but the food is brought by a waiter to the table. All four of us enjoyed the food. They have a good salad selection and I had the nicoise salad with salmon. I like salads that have a lot of items (as long as they complement each other) not just a pile of lettuce with a small piece of protein on the top. I was more than happy with the salad. One of my friends had the steak and said it was better than average. I tried a bite of another other friend's turkey cranberry croissant sandwich and was also impressed by this. The service was excellent, though I will say we were not at the Cafe during a remotely busy time. They also have wine and dessert (in clear view when you are ordering just to temp you). read more

I miss the old menu! Why change it when it was the best little bistro in the area? The paninis and salads were amazing, but since they took off all my favorites and replaced it with so-so items - it has gone down hill. Once in a blue moon, I do stop by for a salad - the raspberry spinach salad is delicious. The bakery goods are great. But unfortunately the service typically ruins the experience. Each time we come by, we end up getting one young male server who is very unprofessional. It seems like he is always the only one there. He never checks on us once the food is served, and no refills. Back in the day I would have rated this place a five star. Sad to see this place go down hill. read more

The food here has been phenomenal every single time I have eaten here. The Nicoise Salad is go to and favorite. On my most recent visit I took Home a chocolate cupcake and it was perfection, I have had dreams about that cupcake since eating it. Their tomato basil soup is a MUST try. Every other soup i have had has also been delicious, even soups that contain ingredients I don't like have been delicious and that is a sign this place is culinarily doing things right. My sister and I came here on a whim a few Saturday's ago. The place was packed for 11 am! We ordered the roasted vegetable salad and the lemon artichoke and chicken pasta. The staff is friendly, ambience is great and the menu, while simple, covers a good variety of brunch, sandwich, and entree options. Have not been in a while, but must remember to come back. It was just after lunch on saturday and no line. One decides what to eat on the menu and orders and pays. This gets the kitchen working and still time to have a drink before the food, never feeling rushed, but not feeling like we had been sitting waiting for food. It is light and airy with big windows. We looked south but no sun to contend with today. The coffee was hot and tasty and the water requested had lemons - not something I appreciate. The two salads both came with salmon, hot and cooked to our liking. The Niçoise and Caesar were not over dressed. The coffee came consistently. read more

As someone else put it, it is an "upscale cafeteria", except you have to tip... I ordered the shrimp and arugula salad, it was excellent with 6 tasty good size shrimp, however for being a whole meal that ended up costing almost $20, I think the portions were small. Sunday June 6th was not a good day at this cafe. Myself and three others waited inline for twenty minutes, with one woman in front of us. Since seating is 50%, we understood that. We were also repeatedly told we would not be seated unless we had a mask on, we had our masks. We received paper menus and decided what we were going to have. All of us dine at Nordstroms around the country on a regular basis. The cashier was finally able to take our orders, I also ordered a glass of wine. I am 75 years old! She was approximately the same age. She was not joking, I had to show her my id. We then requested she ring each order separetly. She said No! " We don't do that here, If you're going to set together, we have to ring together." All four of us requested again. She said No! At that point we requested to speak with a manager. The manager came to the line from behind the counter (she was not wearing a mask) and she was rude. Told us we don't ring up separetly if you're going to set together. She did not address the fact that this 75 year old had to show id for a glass of wine. Sensing that this luncheon was going down hill quickly we left and had a lovely lunch at the Capital Grill. We all understand times are difficult. I happen to be an RN and know first hand how difficult this last year has been. But this situation could have been quickly diffused with some kindness and respect for the customer. read more

This place is nothing like other Nordstrom restaurants. The menu is not inclusive or expansive, the service is subpar, and the food was just plain disgusting. I ordered a turkey club grill which was more like a turkey melt. The textures in the sandwich were disgusting, slimy, wet, and did not mix well. The turkey was dry and flavorless, and the "garlic aioli" taste like mayo with garlic powder mixed in. Yuck. Our sandwiches came out before we received water, napkins, or silverware, and our server never came back to check on us. It wasn't any busier than usual so there was no excuse for the poor service. The next time I want tomato basil soup I'll stick with Nordstrom Bistro at twelve oaks. read more

I actually really like this cafe and go there often. The menu has a little bit of everything so will accomodate any time of day/meal. It is upscale cafeteria style in my opinion. You order and pick you own seat but then have a waiter bring food/drinks. Unless you have cash, remember to put tip on the bill when you order your food because they cash you out when you place your order. I usually get a salad and have enjoyed them all. The cafe is not family friendly. They have no children's menu and have very few choices for kids. My son has allergies and it felt like pulling teeth to get allergen information. All of their bread and even their pizza dough contains egg. Who puts egg in pizza dough? Their soups are always super spicy so that's not an option for my son. I love this spot. Nice regular changes to the menu. Good service - except our server didn't bring water today. Surprisingly nice wine selection. The atmosphere is decent and it's priced reasonably. It's sort of a combo order in line but still have table service place. I've not had a bad experience yet. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is the rough paper napkins and the fact that you can't add your tip on your card when you stand and order/pay. That's odd. Highly recommend. read more
