The rainforest pyramid is a must if you're coming to Moody Gardens. I just did the one day value pass. In the pyramid, you'll start from the top then work your way to the bottom. A good variety of animals, it's not huge but you can plan to spend like 30-40 mins in here. It is accessible to those that need a wheelchair or scooter. Very kid friendly. I liked how there are birds walking around so you can get up close for a picture. A few of the animals were temporary unavailable due to cleaning. read more

I came to the Rainforest Pyramid on the second day of June this year with my GS troop for the first time. Moody Gardens consists of an aquarium, rainforest, and discovery pyramids, and is an educational attraction focusing on nature. My troop had the opportunity to get a private tour of the pyramid twice in one day (one in the afternoon and once at night). This allowed us to see both the nocturnal animals and non-nocturnal animals. Additionally, we spent the night in the rain forest as a troop. This pyramid offers an up-close and interactive walk among the species--both plant and animal--of the world's rainforests. This family-friendly attraction is not only entertainment but also provided the troop with educational opportunities at every turn. Aside from learning about the distinct types of animals who call the rainforest home, we learned about the pyramids rich history, the type of maintenance that is required to maintain such a place as well as what different seasons may bring at this location. In the day, birds, monkeys, sloths, etc. roam free for visitors to see up close and personal. Some reviewers have noted that such animals were not roaming free, this is not the case for private tours. During the evening, when the pyramid was closed to all visitors (including the aquarium and discovery pyramids), the guides played educational games with the troop after a pizza dinner. After the games were concluded, the troop was able to sleep at the entrance to the rainforest and be one with nature. Overall, this is a wonderful place to explore, learn, and gain knowledge to share with others. Their dedication to education through interaction is unmatched. We came to visit the Rainforest Pyramid with out family from out of state. We recently moved to Texas and wanted to do something fun for the kids and family to enjoy. Moody Gardens offers different combos to help save money on their different attractions they offer. Our family enjoyed the Rainforest Pyramid as it was enough for our infants. Unfortunately some parts of the attraction were closed off but we did enjoy our time any way. We spent about $36 bucks for 1 attraction but I expected a little more for that price. Just like the aquariums the rainforest was overpriced, but was very cool and child friendly. It is warm like the rainforest, I'm glad I was wearing a tank top because it was warm! Some animals are free roaming while others are enclosed in their habitats. Supposedly there was a a sloth, but we never spotted it. We did spot plenty of birds and monkeys. They had an enclosure for a Komodo dragon and an ocelot. They even had enclosures for different bats. I was very impressed with this location. read more

Kids 2 and under are FREE. It's not mentioned on the website. Anyway, it's really humid & warm inside even in the dead of winter so dress lightly. We went the weekend before Christmas so it was 50-60 degrees outside but we stripped out of our jackets & sweaters inside the Pyramid. We saw quite a few animals caged and out in the open. Look carefully! Monkeys are roaming about with the birds and butterflies. There are 2 levels. It'll take you at least an hour to go through it. Beautiful and interesting & informative. The rainforest is a quique place. It is a glass building in Texas so it is hot temperature wise along with being a rainforest environment. There are air vents on the top walk way to help provide air flow for visitors. The animals are free roaming for the most part which is awesome. I saw a couple of monkies, butterflies, birds, and fish. But we could not find the sloths. There were 2 sloths in there but we couldn't locate rhem and 0 staff had seen them that day. read more

It's definitely a great place for some inside entertainment. We got combo tickets for the aquarium and rainforest. All of the animals at the aquarium were very active and there were plenty of viewing spots. The rainforest was fun but didn't have as much to see as the aquarium and you could get through it within 30 minutes. I recommend going as soon as they open because there will be less people. If you plan to only do one of the attractions, then go with the aquarium. However, if you want to do more than one attraction, then I would just get the full pass instead of combo tickets. read more

Labor day weekend was my first time visiting the Moody Gardens attractions. The rainforest pyramid was actually pretty cool, they had a lot of exotic little creatures and we got see a little monkey as well. Definitely isn't a traditional zoo but they had a variety of animals and plants to show. I was kind of looking forward to the otters but they weren't out on my visit. My only disappoint goes along with the grievance of a previous review in which the reviewer complained that the animals were not able to roam freely. So amazing! Everyone from 1 yr old to 60 years old LOVED it! We visited Moody Gardens and this was definitely a highlight of ours. We got to see so many cool plants and animals. We took some great photos because it is so beautiful. The plants are gorgeous!!! So many unique ones and it totally makes the atmosphere. If your going to moody gardens I recommend the aquarium only because the tickets are overpriced and whenever you go to the rainforest on the website it says there's monkeys everywhere and you can touch them but whenever you go there there's only 2 monkeys and you can't touch them. There were suppose to be otters but you couldn't see them and there probably weren't any in there. I would suggest not going there cause it's a scam and waste of almost spending 200 dollars of you have 4 people with you read more

Very neat and unique place. The rainforest is very meticulously kept, and the birds flying all over makes it feel very real. They have some free roaming monkeys as well. We were not lucky enough to track down the sloth, he was hiding well. The otter exhibit was large and had great views. read more

Omg.... I've resisted going to the pyramid because it costs so much money but it was totally worth it! It was the most fun my son and I have had in a long time. Good afternoon, i am so disappointed in writing this right now but there definitely needs to be changes made. I showed up to the food court and my kids were very hungry. We order the food and until the end he told us it was only card. i would of liked that he told us that from the beginning, he did even greet us! Then i was lucky to find a card i had. He didn't even give us napkins or offered ketchup. Probably one of the worst service ever!!! Also at the movie theater. We were here on time and right by the door they told us that it was closed and we had to wait till the next one?! Like i would of liked to know that before we waiting that long in line!!! read more

This place was cool for a rainy day in Galveston. Lots of different animals to keep you occupied for a few hours. I wouldn't recommend the "3d" or "4d" "IMAX" shows or whatever unless you get them added for free or very little. We bought the holiday pass that included most activities after4 pm. We were very disappointed that we were not aware that the rain forest is not lighted at night except for dim path lights. You cannot see any of the animals except for the small displays. We felt they should have warned us to see the rainforest first before the sun set at 5 , or we would just be walking a dark path after sunset. read more

My gf and I went here after a friend recommend it. We had a great time the rainforest area was great where we encountered one of the monkey extremely up close with his mate. The staff member was very kind to explain the type of monkey and how they act. We found there to be a lot of animals to look at and learn more about. This was great for both kids and adults. This exhibit was so much fun! I loved the interactive stuff. I absolutely loved walking around and seeing all the beautiful creatures of the rainforest. I look some amazing photos. We loved the white faced monkey! He was our favorite along with the blue Makaws! Not very crowded, but we went on a Monday. Bring a lense rag for your camera because it is humid and the lense will fog up! We just soaked up everything from fish, plants, birds, monkeys, bats, waterfall, and butterflies! Nicely done rainforest experience w all sorts of animals crossing your path during the self paved tour. Be sure to see leaf cutter ants exhibit at the top and catch it at the bottom as you exit.
