We were near UNC and looking for lunch ideas. I remembered seeing a newer chapel hill location so we ate there. Parking is absolutely insane on a weekend (assuming it's better during the week) but service was quick and the food was amazing! Order was accurate which is always appreciated. While in the UNC Chapel Hill area we decided to finally check out what all the hype is about for Raising Cane's. Customer Service was excellent. We decided on a Box Meal and 3 Finger meal. The box meal comes with Cole slaw. The seating area is massive here upstairs and has alot of cute collegiate memorabilia to check out. Lots of opportunities for photos. What's not to like about raising cane's....chicken tenders are thick, meaty, seasoned, and fried to perfection. The cane's sauce should be bottled it's so tasty. The toast is good but I'd prefer no sesame seeds. Cheerful customer service. This location is downtown so it's not that easy to get to. By far my favorite Raising Cane's I've been to! The UNC-themed decor is awesome and adds a fun vibe to the place. Every time I've been, the restaurant has been spotless, and the staff is always super friendly, making the experience even better. This is my second time eating Raising Cane's and it didn't disappoint. Popular spot for UNC students as it's walking distance from campus. Food came out in less than 10 minutes. For some reason the chicken seemed less crispy than last time but it was still yummy nonetheless. The fries I could probably pass on but the Texas toast always is a 10/10. Yay! Finally got a chance to try Raising Cane's! It's a cause for celebration! Totally did not disappoint. I placed my order through the app for pickup, which is definitely the way to go. Parking on Franklin is infamously horrific, but there were surprisingly a few open spots right out front of the store. My order was ready upon arrival and the staff were friendly. There wasn't much of a line (I went around 4), just a few customers waiting for their orders. Inside is beautiful! The upstairs is really cool. I ordered the tenders combo which comes with chicken tenders, toast, slaw, and French fries (plus Cane's sauce). The tenders were super juicy and tender with a nice crisp exterior. The toast and slaw were also good, nothing extravagant but good. The fries were fine, definitely could use some seasoning but they weren't bad. This is my first time trying Cane's ever so I can't help but compare to Zaxby's. The chicken FAR surpasses Zaxby's. There isn't even a competition. Same for the sauce, while similar, I much prefer Cane's as it's a little sweeter. I see why people buy it by the cup' I'm torn on the toast, and prefer Zaxby's fries. The chicken is good maybe a bit bland but crispy and juicy. The sauce was good(and needed for the chicken) although reminiscent of a toned down Zaxby's sauce. The fries are kind of okay, like school fries. The coleslaw was like kfc. The Texas toast is probably the best thing on their super limited menu. The service was good. I bypassed the line by ordering on their app which worked well. But my order was correct and the people were friendly. The restaurant was clean and had a cool UNC theme to it. I didn't go up stairs to check out the seating but it seems like they did the most with the space they have. I wish the menu had some more options. It's chicken strips with or without fries and bread with the option of one sauce. I guess you can get the strips put in a sandwich if you'd like. In a world with Zaxby's, Bojangles, Popeyes, and others I can't see myself going out of the way or waiting in a big line for this but I'd eat it again if it was around. The restaurant is newer so it was pretty busy when we went in but it didn't take too long to order and get our food. The building is two story so they upstairs is the seating and downstairs to order. Serious customer service problem! Went to dine-in on Wednesday night, around 10PM with my girl. Went upstairs, and the cleaning employee told us that the larger area upstairs are closed and that we can only sit in the smaller area (also upstairs). However that smaller area is fully-occupied, so we had no choice but to take one of tables in the closed area or leave. The employee was rude, telling us to move to when the area was fully-occupied. Note that this location closes at 12AM on Wednesday night, so we had about 2 hours left, so I don't understand why the larger area was closed when there are still a good amount of customers (not just us) who tried to sit in the closed area. Secondly, there are no signs saying the area was closed, which made us think that he is just making up the rules to avoid cleaning a wider area. We insisted to sit in one of the tables that were closed because we had no choice, and he allowed but accused my girl of being rude for reacting frustratingly, and told us to make sure to fully clean our table before we leave. We don't mind cleaning but an employee telling us to do that is just unprofessional when it's his job to clean! I asked to talk to a manager and he called another female Hispanic employee who doesn't look like a manager and who did not question or address the issue, so she's probably not a manager. When the other employee approached us, all the first employee did was tell us how rude my girl was for nodding his head in frustration. First of all, she did not even say a word, and she has the right to react that way because we were frustrated at how he approached us when he told us to move to the other area that's already fully-occupied! Regardless, how can a restaurant shut a larger area down 2 hours before closing, with multiple customers trying to sit and access that closed area (again, without a sign that it's closed), only to be told by the employee that it's closed? Is that employee just lazy to clean a wider area near closing when it's his job to do so? Also, it was the first time I saw the Unsweetened Tea jug missing upstairs, so I'm not sure if it's also his job to make sure that's there. Lastly, rudely telling us to clean our table before we leave is disrespectful and unacceptable. We do not work in Canes and it's his job to clean tables, not ours, so that is just unprofessional and the worst customer service we've experienced there. We've been to this location multiple times before with no issues, around similar time, and we don't remember that being closed, so I don't know why the change? Or was it just his decision? Canes food is good, but this location needs to improve customer service. read more

It comes with 6 tenders, fries, slaw, toast, and a drink. Everything was hot when delivered. Smooth delivery service. The tenders were a decent size but were not seasoned well. There was also no seasoning on the fries. They may have had a little salt. The slaw was not edible. The first bite tasted spoiled and I wouldn't risk it. TLDR: Great choice for fried chicken. Be prepared to wait in a long line. Parking is available in the street or nearby lots (expect to pay). Raising Canes is a fast food chain new to Chapel hill. This location is conveniently located right on Franklin street. Like most establishments on Franklin, it does not have parking. Street parking and parking lots are located nearby. Expect to pay unless it's a free parking day. We parked way down Franklin street in a lot that was free in December. I enjoyed the walk down Franklin to see how much had changed since I went to college. When we arrived around 3 pm, Raising Canes no longer had a line out the door (that we saw when we initially drove by). When we entered, we realized the line just reached the door. I like the limited menu, since it made it quick and easy to order. Prices are reasonable and the employees are efficient. After ordering, It took a while to get our food. Several of my party waited downstairs to pick up the order and the rest of us found a table upstairs. Ample tables, condiments, waste bins, and utensils were located upstairs. We split up since the first floor was packed. If you are running low on time, I recommend ordering via their mobile pick-up option. The wait was worth it. I enjoyed the chicken strips, fries, Texas toast, and of course the Cane's sauce. I can see why it is a popular spot for college students. They do have 3 individual bathrooms available for customers to use upstairs, although you need a code from the staff to unlock the doors. One bathroom was out of order. Now that we live in NC, we have been without Canes until they opened one in Chapel Hill. We have been to others across the country, but this is the nicest and most unique. It's next to the UNC campus and is decked out in Tarheel memorabilia. It's a unique setup and design. We came here for my son's 13th birthday. The meal was a let down. The chicken tenders were okay but no better than anywhere else. Had a fast food feel, what I would expect at a Hardees or BK and not as good as Bojangles or Chick Fil A. They weren't bad and if my expectations weren't high I would have been content, but I just could not figure out what everyone saw in them. The sauce was okay, but again nothing special. If I could give zero stars, I would. This was my first -- and definitely last -- time visiting this restaurant, which I drove nearly an hour to reach. I was extremely disappointed with both the customer service and the overall experience. The restaurant was packed on Saturday afternoon, and when it was finally my turn to order, the cashier rushed me through the process and talked over me the entire time. As a first-time customer, I was unfamiliar with how things worked and felt very overwhelmed by the noise and the pace. I clearly ordered three meals -- two with drinks and one without. I specifically asked for a lemonade (for myself) and a Sprite for my 9-year-old daughter. I understood there would be an extra charge for the lemonade, and that was completely fine. Instead, I was charged for two regular sodas and handed two cups with ice. When I asked the cashier about the lemonade, she told me all drinks were upstairs. When I got upstairs, I found only fountain sodas and tea -- no lemonade. I went back downstairs and told the cashier that i ordered lemonade, and she insisted, "You didn't order lemonade." When I repeated that I had, she actually said, "No you didn't. I know what you ordered." I was shocked at how dismissive and rude she was. I calmly tried to explain that she hadn't heard me because she was talking over me while I ordered. Instead of correcting the issue, she went to get the manager. He walked up without a greeting and said, "You have to pay for lemonade. That's extra." Again, I explained that I was fine paying extra -- I had said that several times already. At no point did either of them attempt to resolve the situation respectfully. The manager eventually said, "Just give her the lemonade," as if I were being unreasonable. It was embarrassing, especially with a crowd of people witnessing the entire exchange. The worst part is, all of this could have been avoided if the cashier had just taken the time to listen and verify my order the first time, or simply looked at the receipt and corrected it. I normally don't write reviews, and I absolutely hate making a scene, but this was one of the most frustrating and humiliating customer service experiences I've had. The owner seriously needs to reevaluate the professionalism and training of the staff -- especially that cashier and the manager. I regret not getting their names.
