Sup Dogs was a big disappointment. We arrived on game day but early enough in the day that they were steady but not super busy. It was freezing today outside and we were seated by the door. Everything was fine until the hostess propped the door open. They left the door wide open and everyone in the front seating area was miserable. I asked if they could please close it and I was told no. They said the hostess stands by the door on game days. So they really don't care if their customers are comfortable or not. That says a lot. They certainly could've made adjustments given the cold and windy day. But our waitress was kind enough to move us when a table opened up in the back. That was a big relief and much more comfortable. Now to their food. The bacon cheese fries were great but didn't have bacon so we had to get them to bring back to sprinkle on top. The ranch was excellent and we all liked the app. My youngest got a grilled cheese which he enjoyed. My oldest got a burger which he said was okay, but nothing special. But the real disappointment comes in with the hot dogs. My first dog was cold, like unappetizingly cold. The waitress was very nice and took care of it immediately. However, the second dog came out almost immediately. If you like a boiled hot dog that's reheated in a microwave, you'll like their hot dogs. But I want a quality grilled hot dog. We'll stick to our ol' faithful CH burger joint from here on out. And I hope next time your customers are extremely uncomfortable on a freezing day sitting right next to the open door, you exercise some courtesy and close the door next time. read more

I ordered the Hawaiian Dog (pineapple, honey mustard, lettuce, and something called "Sup Dog Sauce"), while my friend got the Chili Cheese Dog (Monterey Jack and cheddar with house-made chili). We ordered both as combos, so they came by with a sizable portion of fries. The hot dogs were simply fantastic. Perfect flavor, and the condiments only made them better. The fries were hot, fresh, and flavorful, with just the right amount of salt. The aforementioned "Sup Dog Sauce" was served with the fries, and it ended up being a nice touch. Imagine a combination of mustard, mayonnaise, and barbecue sauce that is somehow delicious. It may not sound appetizing, but you have to give it a try! Was given bacon and a plate to eat at the restaurant. This combined with a 20% automatic gratuity, which is not marked anywhere and when I asked was rudely told I was being aggressive and cheap by the waitstaff, made my experience very sad. I've been here twice, and the first time it was a late night but everything was great. Food, service, ambiance, whatever. The second time I came was on a game day, and I cannot express how much of a mistake it was. The place was packed. I just wanted to get out as quick as possible, so I asked one of the servers by the entrance where I'd place an order and she screamed (because it was so loud in there already) "OVER THERE BUT YOU HAVE TO LEAVE." Okay.. I stood at the place she vaguely gestured to for near 15 minutes (there was no line to place orders or anything) and tried so many times to get the attention of a server, but whenever I did they either scowled at me or ignored me. I really really really wanted to like this place! I stopped in on Saturday for lunch and thought the place would be packed but I walked straight in to order. I wasn't sure if it was dine in or not because no one greeted me at the door. I was given a menu with a QR code and able to place an order. My food came out within 10-minutes. I decided to sit outside to enjoy my food. I opened my box of goodness to find they the fries were cold. The only good part about it was the dipping sauce. The service is also really good, so that's another nice thing. I can't believe they had the nerve to call this MJ's favorite. They'd be laughed off the streets of Chicago for serving such an atrocity. Jalapeño slices? Onions not diced? Where was the celery salt? Located on Franklin Street, I imagine this place gets pretty busy on the weekends. For us it was a Monday afternoon and we were able to walk right in and sit anywhere we wanted. With a name like Sup Dogs...you have to know they serve...hot dogs. And the hot dogs come a variety of different ways. There is a little something for everyone, even the one that just like their dogs plain. We ordered their cheesy tater tots and pickle fries. Both delicious, though I feel like the pickle basket could have been more full. But both came out piping hot. The sup dog sauce...delicious! Visited Chapel Hill from Alabama for a week and this was the second hot dog place I've been to. The first left MUCH to be desired, so I'm happy to say this place exceeded expectations. I tried the original, the smokehouse, and the old fashioned hot dog and they were all incredibly delicious. Seriously, the chili they put on these dogs is no joke! Hard to decide which one was my favorite, might have to fly over again sometime to say for sure. The restaurant itself is a sports bar so you'll have lots to drink and lots to watch on TV. They're open late too and, to my surprise, they were taking orders up to the last minute. On my first visit I made it 10 minutes to closing and they took my order no problem - I'm used to getting a grumpy response followed by lousy food when eating out late, but it was all as good as it was midday. First * I was hesitant to do dine-in with a 2.5 year old because we heard this place only caters to college students and the energy in there is rowdy. That maybe true, but I am so glad I didn't allow what we "heard" stop us from going to Sup Dogs because our experience was fantastic! We were in town visiting family and in the past we have never had enough time to swing by to try the food, until today! I must say we were not disappointed with any of the items we ordered (drinks, tots, pickle spears, burgers, hot dogs, nachos, and funnel cake sticks). The beverages were tasty and refreshing. The quality, portion size of the food, and prices were on target to what we expected from a hot dog establishment. And our service was stellar. Although I didn't get a chance to take a picture of everything we ordered, the Sup Sauce was the star of the show! Put it on EVERYTHING!!!
