Today was my 2nd appointment for pain management injections and it was very needed. The weather had me hurting in so many areas primarily my right scapula and rib cage. Dr Paul did ultrasound guided injections that I instantly heard a loud pop in my neck and rib cage as he injected the medication. WOW I'm so thankful and pleased my primary care practitioners referred me to Raleigh Neurology! It's early days and I have 6 other injections but if my results from my 2 injections procedures go as well I plan to be back in college ASAP upon completing all injections. Dr Paul being a fellow USN veteran has excellent bedside manner, he listens and answers you. He's open to what you have tried and what hasn't worked. Unlike other practitioners he is the only one doing my procedures the continuity of care is not just reassuring its often paramount that Dr knows patient as more than just a medical record since he fully examined he unlike others I had full confidence in his care. My judgment to change drs has been best way to start 2026! read more

I did not know what to expect when I saw Dr Menon for the first time yesterday. I had read some negative reviews, plus I was a work in appointment so I didn't know if she was going to be rushed. She was wonderful. She was not rushed she was the educational she was patient and very thorough. I found her to be a fantastic provider. This review is of the specific Dr Bradley J Robottom. I came to him for help and was met with Cynicism and passive aggressive comments. He treats paper not people. I have a systemic complex medical condition . (autoimmune ) I need a capable dr that can treat my issues. Dr Robottom doesn't fit that bill. Thankfully, I have found drs who listen and understand. I am currently under proper treatment that is helping with the neurological issues I was having. I don't know about any other doctor at this practice- but this dr has left such a "bad taste" that I wouldn't go there again! read more

Marisol was unbelievable and magically got My MRI apt for same day so I didn't have to drive 1 1/2 hrs the next day. I have seen the Neurologist here and the doctor doesn't talk. She answers questions with yes or no and she even recommended me a device that is less than ideal for fixing/helping my problem. I saw Dr KONANC three times after my previous neurologist had retired. I picked him because of his training at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Konanc gave me testing to see whether my non-length dependent idiopathic neuropathy had progressed. He wasn't really interested in anything I had to say about my symptoms. At the end of my second visit with him I told him I wondered about this one symptom I had developed, that is, difficulty moving my lips and talking. He had already packed up his computer by then and said oh, that doesn't sound like neuropathy at all but Parkinson's. When I asked him about getting tested for it he said he would talk about it in the next visit. At the next visit he discussed my neuropathy and he was getting ready to leave. I said "last time you said you thought I might have Parkinson's we were going to discuss my getting tested for it. " He denied that we talked about it. My husband said he remembered our discussing it it too. So. What would you expect him to do? Maybe ask more about the symptoms I was having? No he got angry. Grabbed his laptop and turned it around and said he never said anything about Parkinson's symptoms! I was shocked and said that he had already turned off his computer when we raised the subject my last visit. He continued to deny that we discussed it. I was so taken aback i didn't say anything else. He left. I never went back. I went to Duke. Because I didn't have a diagnosis of Parkinson's I had to see in general neurologist - - which took the better part of the year to get in. I've been going here to get migraine treatment. Multiple visits over several years. Dr. Gabr is excellent. The check-in process and staff used to be mediocre, but now it's really good. A PA handles almost all migraine treatment. It took me years to flunk out on all the standard meds before they let me try Botox for migraines from Dr. Gabr. Life changing. When I paid for treatment myself through an aesthetician, it was much less expensive but I didn't get 30 injections every 3 months like I do now. (Botox is never cheap.) Dr. Gabr explains everything well and lets me ask all of my Qs. read more

I had an Occipital block recently that brought relief in 15 minutes! Today I had a Trigeminal block relief continues as the day moves on. The staff is very supportive and caring. Again another experience of difficult scheduling issues. When I first spoke with them, I had this wonderful gentleman who was very nice and said someone would reach out to call me back. I call again and managed to get him again. He apologized and said he reached out to the Dr. assistants about making an appointment again and someone should contact me by Monday. Still nothing. I call again on Thursday and this robotic woman answered and tells me that oh sorry we aren't taking any new appointments and we can put you on a waitlist for an appointment in 2026. Mind you, it's June 2025 and I have been trying to get someone to make me an appointment for almost two weeks. Couldn't you have started with that when I tried to make the appointment instead of wasting my time? I'm seriously disappointed with how I was dragged around when the original scheduler or even the drs assistant could have just led with that. read more

If you're an adult with new epilepsy seizures and need to see the doctor to treat you, provide guidance and adjust medications until the correct dosage is reached and your seizures are under control, please find another neurology center. My adult daughter saw a doctor in June 2025 has not been able to see her again. Made an appointment for February 2026 and sadly needed to reschedule, the next available appointment is July 2026 that's over a year to see the neurologist. They'll have appointments for their practitioners but we prefer to see an actual doctor and not a practitioner. Needless to say we are moving on to another neurology center and hopefully we don't run into the same problem but if we would have known about this sooner we wouldn't have wasted 6 months here. My daughter continues to have seizures, the medication is causing her memory loss and the care here is non existent. Please go elsewhere. read more

Do NOT schedule appointments with this practice. They have zero customer service. You cannot reach a person - EVER. I was trying to schedule a followup appt and was sent in circles and never reached a person. Then I got a message that they had scheduled me for an appt without EVER even speaking with me. I have been unable to cancel the appointment! They have one phone number and you never get to a person to schedule, and the phone wait times are up to 11 people in front of you! I asked my PCP to refer me to another practice. I would NEVER use this group again. read more

I've seen three doctors at Raleigh Neurology. Dr. Freedman, now retired, was Mr. Personality, but didn't really listen or care. He just prescribed one medicine after another. When none of them worked, he went back to the beginning of his list, and I had to remind him that I'd already tried it. He lost interest after that. Dr. Yeramsetty was the most unpleasant physician I've ever dealt with. He came across as arrogant and uncaring. Dr. Scagnelli seems genuinely nice, but it's clear that the patient is just a number. He's not going to waste his time looking at your brain MRI or doing repeat neurological exams. Scheduling is a nightmare. Expect to spend a lot of time on hold, only to be told that they can't schedule now because the schedulers aren't available and you'll have to call back, or sometimes you get the overseas call center, which is the absolute worst. read more

After being over 20 minutes late she made no attempt to apologize or even explain. Just started going over my results while lounging in comfy clothes and slurping on her tumbler. I am a MS patient who was referred to pain management when Dr Freedman retired. I have been diagnosed with MS since I was 25, I am now 47 years old. When I met Dr Carnes he saw all the things that were wrong with my back. I told him that I really did not want to have back surgery if possible. So we spent months of trying different methods, but unfortunately ultimately I had to get a L2 -S1 fusion. I was still in a lot of pain all the time! I cried to Dr Carnes and said now what? Do I have to go in a wheelchair?! Dr Carnes asked me to just hang on don't give up on him yet! Thank goodness I didn't!!! Dr Carnes recommended the Spinal Cord Pain Stimulator from Boston Scientific to help with my pain. I completed the trial with huge success and now have the permanent SCPS. Dr Carnes saved me!! Thank goodness for you!! You gave me back joy and happiness! Less pain!!!! read more

**This is from 2021, but I have added an update. I had experienced a severe incident of nausea, spinning, migraines, vision impairment, and was unable to walk on my own all seemingly with no direct catalyst. I have spent the past month without being able to drive further than a few miles and have only recently been able to return to walking my neighborhood again. I am still having nausea, head aches, pressure in my head, vertigo symptoms, and muscle spasms. The only place that accepted my insurance to look into what is going on with me was Raleigh Neurology Associates who, when you google, shows a 2.8 rating. When Dr. Gabr entered the room she obviously had not read my portal notes or the notes the nurse had just taken and immediately went in the direction of me just being there for migraines. She told me to start where I believed the beginning of this story was. Within just a few minutes, she cut me off and told me to prioritize my symptoms so I began describing an incident from a month ago. I was cut off again, and she proceeded to cut my mother off regarding family history of neurological problems all within a few minutes time. When I asked for a full panel of bloodwork before determining if I should be adding or removing vitamins and medications to my diet, I was told she didn't know I meant by wanting a "full panel of bloodwork" done. Without listening or having knowledge of my current birth control or romantic circumstances, I was told that I should stop birth control because estrogen can cause migraines. I was also told that maybe I needed more magnesium and should add that vitamin to my daily routine. She returned to stating that I would be put on daily medication for migraines. She refused to listen to or address anything other than migraines, which were only a symptom from the traumatic incident that had taken place, not of my main concern, such as the 48 hours I was unable to open my eyes or sit up without vomiting because of my vision spinning, or the imbalance I was having trying to walk, or the loss in eyesight leading me to need reading glasses at 31. I told her that, "I'm sorry if I sound like a jerk, but I'm not comfortable adding or removing any medications/vitamins until we have completed testing." I brought up again, bloodwork at a minimum, but expected a MRI as well. She very angrily responded with, "you are being a jerk. You're tying to tell me how to do my job like you're at McDonald's telling someone how you want your burger. And you don't want to be on medication makes.." This is where I did cut her off to state that it's not that I don't want to be on medication. It's that I don't want to be on medication without performing basic tests first. And I then said that we were leaving. I have edited and updated this post to add that, two years later, I still am experiencing symptoms and have been seen by medical professionals (all women as well) that have been kind and taken me seriously. I have not been recommended to stop birth control, add Magnesium, or begin migraine medication by anyone else. I have, however, had to have extensive bloodwork and testing, including EKGs, MRI/MRAs, and ultrasounds. I am still aghast at how rude, uncaring, unkind, and quite frankly, dangerous, Dr. Gabr's treatment was. Being unwilling to read your patient's notes, listen to their experiences, personal and family histories, or be willing to accommodate basic medical testing before prescribing medications and making recommendations to changes in vitamins and diets, is unethical at a minimum. If you need a neurologist, please look for someone else. RDU has many incredible doctors and specialists that are so much more qualified and kind than this person was.This read more

My wife had an appointment at 430. We got here at 330 just like they said. We waited until 5 pm for them to tell us the person that "checked" us in did not check us in. Dr Carnes left without seeing my wife. Instead of working us in they told us we had to come back when we live over a hour away. Do not recommend. No stars read more

I love Raleigh Neurology! I have a neurological condition that makes it hard for me to get around because I tire out easily. The office has my doctor, on site pharmacy and on site eye doctor so that I don't have to go so many places. I can have it all done here!! They understand and specialize in my condition. I have been to other centers and the right decision was made when I chose this place! See Dr. Scagnelli if you are looking for a great doc who keeps up with Ms research and your just not another patient Update~ I really like how open they are here. Had a mri today they gave me a disk with my scans. The doctor read the scans and set me up with an appt with him to go over them a day later. Neurology, Dr Roebottom and his PA are great. Easy to work with and good bedside manner. Rheumatology, Dr Dooley, 0 stars and avoid at all lengths. I have been in serious pain that inhibits me from taking care of my son and doing daily activities. I was seen in August, labwork drawn and told I would be called with the results. WEEKS later, I contacted the office, and was told results were in but dr had not reviewed them. Another week later and I just reached out to the lab to get my results because Dr Dooley still hadn't contacted me despite repeated attempts to get information as my condition was quickly worsening. In the end, I got messages that were typed by her nurse or assistant, NEVER got a call to discuss labs, and repeatedly asked via the portal messages for a call. My recheck appt was cancelled on me last minute, I assume because she knew I was upset with the beyond poor level of care and didn't want to see me any more. Today, weeks after my recheck was cancelled on me, and over 2 months after the only appt I had there, I got a portal message in all caps telling me that she would be happy to send my records elsewhere (virtually firing me as a patient) and that I didn't need any further testing unless my symptoms worsened. Absolutely pathetic. Since then I've been seen by two other doctors including MAYO. The doctor from Mayo called me less than 24 hours after the appt herself to discuss results and check on me. Just do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE else. read more

Doctor Carnes is a wonderful and caring doctor. I have been in chronic pain for 30 years and have seen a lot of pain management doctors throughout the years, and a lot of them have not been so caring. Dr. Carnes listened to me and my struggles and concerns, and he came up with a plan that he thought would really help me, and it is. His staff is wonderful as well. When I came home from my first appointment with Dr. Carnes, I told my family that I was so relieved that I finally found such a lovely pain management doctor. At the end of my first visit, he felt my emotions and came over and gave me a hug. Love this man! It's very easy to come on and write a bad review about a practice or a doctor, but there are two sides to every story. read more

My NP, Meghan is great. My doc may be, don't know as I've never seen him face to face. Their admin/phone/patient portal system is the worst I've ever experienced. I have to be seen at least once a year for them to issue my needed rx's for CPAP supplies. My call was put into the call back que twice but never returned. I decided to hold, got to second in the que then was cut off, fourth time was the charm, finally got connected to the slowest lady in the world. Apparently she had to re-enter all my info manually as they're switching systems. I was never able to log into the old system anyway so maybe this is progress. She is supposed to send me a link to get in the "New" system. We'll see... read more

I had made an appointment months ago, but had to change it from in-person to virtual. I confirmed the change with the nurse through e-mail on thursday, then the following Wednesday, (less than a week later) nobody ever e-mailed or anything about my virtual appointment... I called the front desk only to find out that the doctor canceled my appointment with out telling me. The reason was "unknown" to the front desk, all they could say was "oops sorry." So incredibly unprofessional. Which is unfortunate because the nurse and man at the front desk were both very nice. But i will not be giving any money to a doctor who just cancels appointments without telling the patient, especially when it has to do with epilepsy. read more
