This store has been remodeled and it feels so good to shop there. I'm always impressed by the attitude of all the staff. They're so happy and friendly. I must be catching them only on their good days. I recently had the opportunity to use their catering service. Our social group meets in their event center (free to use) monthly and we decided to hold our holiday luncheon in the room. I stopped by the deli and discussed my needs with the staff there. They were knowledgeable and helpful. I had to call a couple of times and they were eager to help me on the phone and very patient - no attitude. When it came to the day of our event, they bent over backwards to help us get organized and find the right utensils. First time in the store and I will never be stepping inside this store again, especially as a Latina woman. I didn't know where the roasted chicken was so I was walking around, the store for less than five minutes when i turn around and there's a security guard. at first I thought he was also shopping, or on break or something, I didn't realize this was the stores security almost following me, i stopped and i could feel like he was looking at me, because he stopped walking as soon as i stopped. once I found the chicken and was paying, he was once again near me, facing me . I did self check out and noticed as soon as I got there, the worker comes close to the self check outs. I felt so uncomfortable at the fact that they saw me and thought, oh yea she is going to steal groceries, let me follow a 5ft 24 year old lady and make her uncomfortable. So disgusted by this behavior. The security guard should be disappointed, especially after i looked straight to his face and realized he was also a minority. "Elijah" then pipes up "it's down". Got the paper, went past the "customer service" kiosk, where "Elijah" is not trying to get the machine, but he was just yakking away on his phone. Racist establishment. If you are a minority and want to feel unwelcome, this is the spot for you. I've been shopping here for five years, but anytime I leave with a smile and wish the workers a good day, they get uncomfortable and pretend like I don't exist. It feels like I am an inconvenience to them, like I'm not worth interacting with, even though they've just gone out of their way to say "goodbye, thank you for shopping with us!" super upbeat moments ago to white customers leaving the store. The discriminatory attitude has worsened in the past when they noticed that I'm checking out with an EBT card. It was the only way I could afford groceries, and I felt judged for it. I've been a service worker for the majority of my working life so I understand what it's like to be exhausted and having to operate with a depleted social battery; I always try to give grace to all of the workers I encounter, but it's sad how friendly the employees here are to apathetic white people who treat the employees like they don't exist VS how the employees ignore a person of color offering them the same kindness. It's incredibly dehumanizing to experience time and time again for years. So many opportunities given and it's always been disappointing. It's sad because this location is super close to me and very convenient so I WANT to shop here, but I've never been made to feel welcome or seen here so I'll be taking my business to FoodMaxx going forward. At FoodMaxx, the prices are affordable and reasonable, the selection is greater, and the employees are so sweet and accommodating. read more

Good selection of food items. They are currently undergoing a renovation of the whole store. Come in mostly for BBQ Pork from the Asian deli. Don't like that they sell out quickly, so you have to plan to be there as soon as the put it out. They have a new person at the Asian counter who is very friendly. But for the most part the rest of the staff in general is standoffish. The three stars is for being well stocked and good deli items. They recently put in a UPS Store with friendly staff. Wow, excellent customer service! I need that box, didn't even know such thing existed, it kept my plant in place while I had it sitting on my back seat. My boyfriend came here with me instead of the Raleys on Watt (near Winco) cos I thought they carry the crabs... they didn't have any but I got a plant. I LOVE orchids. this store had the absolute worst customer service. I go to get grab( which is advertised as 9.99). There's a sign on the display case saying NO CRAB). I go to customer service and she gives me the phone number to call for meat department to ask him to reserve some so I can get it in the morning. Instead of calling, I just walk back there only to be told they won't put any aside. Then I ask for a raincheck, only to be told no, since it's " while supplies last." Give me a freaking break, we all know that they can give rainchecks however they see fit.What an absolute waste of time and gas to drive across town. The 4 stars is for the bakery! This is my first Raley's since moving to the area and I was pleased to see great customer service in the bakery. I have the worst sweet tooth ever but with some self-control I have been able to manage not over-buying pastries. One of my favorite things at Raley's are their chocolate-dipped shortbread cookies! The only thing is that they sell 1 whole plastic container of about 9-12 pieces. I don't like purchasing it because I end up eating the entire thing. So when I came by, I asked the folks in the bakery if they had some individually put away for me to buy a few pieces. They were kind enough to put 4 in a small box, I ate 3 and gave the other to my mom lol..... (It's a good start)! They only charged me some cents/pc. Overall, this supermarket is clean, and I will be back to this bakery again. read more

I am temporarily disabled with a broken ankle and came into shop this morning. It was raining heavily, but I wanted to get my shopping done before the store got crowded. Upon checking out using the disabled card there was no one that could help me get to my car and unload my groceries. I was informed nobody else could help me. In the pouring rain I had to maneuver holding my umbrella while getting my grocery bags into my car one by one. This took several minutes. Once I was done and in my car a staff member came out to retrieve their disabled cart. No one could help me, but they sure were worried about the safety of their cart! When I called the manager Tony he was useless. Not even an apology told me I could pass on the complaint to him or call the 1-800 number. I will be calling the 1-800 number and finding somewhere else to shop. read more

Despite this being an older Raley's it is always clean when I go. It took awhile to understand the layout as it was very different from my previous Raley's before we moved but now that I understand it I am able to find what I need. I've seen reviews say staff are rude and not helpful. This has not been my experience. I find they are helpful and professional. Their moods can range from neutral to happy, but never rude. One thing I would like to see is more selection of the lactose free ice cream options and larger size almond milk options though. read more

Now, I'm forced to settle with lower rated products in every department. I find this unacceptable!! If I wanted to be forced into "B" rated products, I could go to winco or foodmax. I'm am disappointed in the selection of protein bars at Raleys on San Juan. I have a protein bar every day for lunch and have do so for decades. That makes me a big customer we 30 or so a month. I prefer larger bars that work as a meal replacement. Raleys cares smaller bars that work well as snacks but not meal replacement. They do carry a substantial inventory of Builder Bars which was my go to selection until a few years ago when Builders changed their bar's recipe and, in my opinion, ruined the bars. So, I switched to Stronger bars by Nugo that tasted similar to the legacy Builder bars. My complaint is that in recent months Raleys seems to be phasing out the Stronger bars. Frequently, there ore no Stronger bars on the shelf. When there is Stronger inventory, it's usually one or two boxes and I purchase everything they have. Going 3 visits this week with no Stronger bars on the shelf it occurred that the bars may be available online. I purchased a 12 pack on Amazon for a price approximating Raleys price with 2 day delivery and no delivery charge. I don't plan to buy protein bars at Raleys again. read more

Decent grocery store and friendly staff. Their deli isn't too great though...Not a lot too chose from. This location is older so the store seems like it's peace meal out of a couple different store fronts but it's a good place to shop if you need something in a pinch.. Just don't go in expecting a brightly gleaming, clean store with a lot of glam. The parking lot is is is quite large and is shared with other businesses So sometimes you have to circle a bit to find a parking spot. read more

Chinese food is tasty here, but the dude who serves it up is shady. For whatever reason, the last 3 times I've come here, the dude purposefully scoops the chicken in a way that it leaves large pockets of air at the bottom of the white box. When I open the box back at home and press down on the chicken, it only fills like 3/4 of the box. So today I asked why he does that,,, like do you get to take the leftovers home or something??... do you get a pay bump for having a certain amount of food not served up?? Makes no sense!! Dude didn't want to even answer me when I asked him what the deal was because he knew I was calling him out for his BS. At other Raley's/Bel air they fill the white box up, then mush down and add another scoop or two... not here!! Here, you're lucky to even have it filled up. read more

As a transplant from Southern California I find the staff and especially check out folks here very friendly and engaging. Not only commenting and asking as scanning items as to what they also have sampled or are curious about trying I find make shopping experience more enjoyable. It's nice to be recognized and hear "come back and see us again, soon" as you're leaving. You don't find that sort of down home sensibility in retail of late. Other than TJs this is my go to grocery store. read more

One day, as I drove back home, I saw the Raley's sign in town. I then parked my car. I walked in to the building like my pants were slipping off. The scent pickles suddenly bombarded by the delicious and sweet scent of cake and other mildly edible foods. Out of the blue, there was a necessity I utmostly starved for: a single donut. I continued on my journey and waddled up to the counter by the bakery section, and asked for a single chocolate donut. My daring presence was greeted by a women in her late 30's. The cashier pointed at the donut, jesturing if that was what I wanted. My head zoomed out, weighing my diet, and some other bs stuff. She seemed alright, with her nails painted blue and all-Wait, she wasn't wearing gloves. Holy crap, she wasn't protecting her coronavirus from my coronavirus. My sweat pores released some salty water. NO. Waves of sea water flushed down my forehead. God it was so intense. I really began noticing the fingers as her hand struggled like an abused dog, it was shaking as the tip of her index finger barely missed the surface of my sweet future fiance; not that I even get a chance. The mouth stoicly barked "yes" like a trained animal, but the mind was internally screaming. The stomach rumbled; I mean I was still planning to eat the donut, I wasn't gonna skip my dinner like that. As she fished out a small piece of parchment to pickup the donut, her finger accidentally smothered the donut with her un-gloved hand. And I oop-- Here's the back story: After Covid begin, I usually had someone else pick the donuts for me. Which was totally fine for me. My first time at the Fair Oaks Raley's location, as I was on the hunt for Sumo Citrus that are typically near $5 a pound. Raley's had 2 pounds for $5 on sale for $5 Mondays. Sumo's NEVER go on sale so yep, I happily purchased four bags of my absolute favorite fruit. Think of tangelos...on steroids: super juicy, flavorful, and the easiest citrus to peel. This store is compact in size compared to other Raley's location (or if not, the floor plan gives that impression). I called first because I didn't want to chase the Sumo's across town (Marconi store didn't have any) and spoke to Rebecca in produce who was super nice and funny. I arrived at the store, found my citrus goodness and true to fashion, wandered the store for other goodies. I was in need of one more particular item and the gentlemen stocking more produce near the salad dressing section, gladly stopped and answered my question. My wife and I have been shopping here with no problems for over a year. We recently started using the ecart service, and Seth, the Raleys ecart manager came to bring our groceries out and started accusing us of calling and yelling at folks for not finding our items, which we would never do. After expressing that we would never do that over and over he still kept aggressively insinuating that it was us and he had called our phone number, so it must have been us. We left pretty upset that we had been accused of that, so we called later to try to rectify the situation. Seth came on the line to speak with me and he was extremely rude, cutting me off over and over and being overly aggressive and generally rude. I can't think of any other reason this would be other than the blatant homophobia we've experienced since moving to this wretched town. Don't shop here. read more

I've been shopping at raleys for years. Always was a fan of the muffins (any flavor, really!) bought some last night from this location that had a use by date of 12/25. Must be fresh as it was only the 18th? Lol WHY WOULD THEY BE FRESH RIGHT? opened them when I got home and literally they have to have been repackaged. I've never tasted such a hard muffin from raleys. The package also had little fuzzies in it. I thought maybe the fuzz on my first muffin was my fault somehow, but when I threw it away to try a different one, I noticed that the fuzz was actually IN the plastic packaging. Leading me again to believe that they were repackaged. I was here a couple months ago, and was about to purchase some of those pre made (just have to warm up in microwave) style potatoes from the refrigerated section. Before I left I noticed that they were over a week expired. I told the person at the front and she said she would handle it but now I doubt it! This is almost becoming a safety hazard. If you made too many muffins just take the L and throw them out raleys. Is that really hard to accomplish? Im sorry, I've never left a review for them or even complained to anyone but this is like the 3rd thing now. I thought raleys was suppose to be higher quality? They NEVER say have a good night, or even greet me tbh. It's actually becoming absurd. Personally I would feel awkward being at work and not doing my job. Had to write a review for the deli and the bakery dept. I hosted my dads 80th birthday. I had planned to make everything myself but when the guest list exceeded 70, I needed a back up. One word "Awesome" ordered 2 salads, the Cashew Kale and the Crunchy Vegetable. Yum! I order appetizers. A must the West Coast Artisan. Nuts, dried fruit, high end cheeses. I ordered others.
