I've shopped at this Total Wines here and there. I come here to explore new wines because their selection is huge. Service is always excellent here. Everytime I come in there is at least one staff asking me if I'm finding everything ok. They are always knowledgeable and helpful when I need directions or suggestions. I am editing this as the company responded so here's my edit: I posted the original review right after my experience but after discussing with my sister we realized a lot. First off we noticed only people who were not of color coming out with purchases and just to include this we are people of color. When entering seeing both of us in a "group" they should have id as at door instead of wasting my time just like other places do that don't allow minors also their policy only says minors are not allowed in store in Indiana and if there is a minor there should be someone who is of drinking age but I proceed. Before checking out my sister saw someone not of color checking out and the cashier did not ask for ID I will say this lady was probably 40s-50s. When the manager came to talk to us a man of color came up to us & said he didn't have his ID but he's 49 and if that would be a problem when the manager (Caucasian man) instantly told him he wouldn't allow him to buy. I totally understand having rules for stores because underage drinking is bad but after reading other reviews I started noticing a problem with consistency which Is not okay and very frustrating seeing In an area where there are a lot of people of color. Like I said before I understand the policies which is why I didn't discuss further and left to another store in a better area. Overall I want to inform others of my experience and to shop elsewhere instead of wasting your time like I did. We stopped into Total Wine on Friday to get some Olive Brine and different garnish to make vodka martinis at home. This location is on Arden Way across from Guitar Center. Upon entering, they had a massive display of Jameson since St. Patrick's is around the corner. They also had a display of a new Grey Goose flavor - Berry Rouge. We walked around and found a big container of the Olive Brine plus blue cheese stuffed olives and pickle stuffed olives by the same brand called Filthy. You can find everything and more at Total Wine - they were even doing a free tasting of BeatBox. I think there may have been beer samples as well - we ended up taking home a Blue Raspberry BeatBox. My only complaint was the slow employee who was ringing everyone up especially on a Friday after work when you just want to get home and make a martini...or two. We'll be back soon! read more

Service is horrible! Came to the store and stopped an employee name Sharilyn (sp?). My husband asked her if they carried a certain cigar malt which is like a whisky. She looked at the picture and said no we don't have that. He proceeded to tell her that the website said Total Wines carry it. She said each store is different then told us she was going to put a bottle of wine back up and walked off. I was dismayed with her response. I proceeded to search online select the Arden location then found it was in store on Aisle 8 right bay 5. We walked away and she heard me speaking saying it's on aisle 8 right bay 5 then told me as she followed us to make a right. So clearly she knew I found it online. I go to the area and boom it was there. She goes "oh it must be new" Let me discuss how she was unhelpful. Never looked to see if had it in stock or who carries it. Never took us to the area where it could be to see if it was in the store. Instead I did my own research. We checked out then I called the store as I was in shock and spoke to the manager Emilia who understood my concerns and mentioned she would follow up. Sure hope so. I am new to TW and my buying experiences with their order pickup is outstanding! Their website offers a great selection, pricing is extremely reasonable and I love their offered discounts when they have them. I have ordered pickup three times so far and the employees are extremely nice. My go to store for alcohol. This was supposed to be fast. And not cost too much. Wrong...and...WRONG. So I walked in to pick up my online order. I could have done the curbside thing. But it's a LIQUOR store. They sell wine and beer and Single Malt Scotch and cigars, etc. So I walked in and went to pick up my order. I had the great pleasure of being assisted by a woman by the name of Megan. She was very friendly, helpful and efficient. She got my box off the shelf - and then walked over and got me a cart. I happened to have found a couple of bottles of Single Malt Scotch - on is my favorite - Lagavulin - which happened to be a few dollars less - WOOHOO. And then I found another that I like a lot and I spent the best part of $200 here. Well Megan was not able to receive payment for new purchases at the Customer Service Counter so I got in line and she pushed my cart over to the "OTHER SIDE" and waited for me to finalize my purchase. So I met Megan after the register and figured she would hand off my cart to me and go about her business...NO. she took my other items and put them in the cart and not only walked me to my car, she even put the boxes in the back, thanked, me, and put the cart back where it goes. The store was well stocked, clean and festive! Megan provided EXCELLENT Customer Service from the very beginning of my visit to the very end! And it was during Christmas Shopping days. RIDICULOUS! Been going to Total Wine (Arden CA location) for over 10 years. The customer service from two employees on the floor were wonderful! But it was the cashier that was basically an A hole when it came to asking me for my #1 i am clearly over 21 years old. and i have not been asked for my from total wine in years! I was a bit ok with it. BUT when he said i need to see "her" as well. (my wife btw standing by the exit door with out dog) I asked why? Very odd btw since I am the one buying the wine. He proceeded to say we card everybody. I said really? You don't need to see my wife's he then said i can't ring you up then? I still feel kinda weird shopping here since I worked for one of their competitors in college, but I can always find what I need for the right price and what more can one ask for? They are conveniently located in the HoweBoutArden shopping area, so we usually swing by on a weekend to stock up on beer, spirits, and occasionally wine. I'm a rewards member, which often comes in handy. Just yesterday I finally got to use my latest $5 off coupon. It's worth signing up for their rewards program, which is free. The tasting area has returned, nature is healing. While looking about in the craft beer singles area (read that whichever way you want) you may be able to taste samples of the available wares. Typically I see this on weekends, but can't recall it recently on weeknights. They have a schedule of what is being tasted when back there, so I'll take a pic next time I'm in like the helpful reviewer I am. Customer service here is reliable, but I admit I don't often ask for recommendations or help because I either know what I want or delight in hunting for something new to my taste or to my beloved's taste. Staff do write their own recommendations down the aisles, and I'm a fan of that. Just like the bookstore! There aren't often issues at checkout, but they do have a bad layout for when it gets busy. There isn't enough space for multiple carts. I also appreciate their gift section, because this is a frequent gift buying location for me and I don't keep bottle bags on my person. They have funny cards too. If you're looking for glassware and accessories, their selection varies depending on season but it always worth a look. Worst service I have ever had. I went in with a friend and they didn't let her buy anything because I forgot my ID and was with her. I understand that is their policy, but just because I didn't have mine the cashier was rude and condescending to me. Made me want to cry as I don't think I have ever been talked down to that much. My absolute favorite chain liquor store and more! No one is as knowledgeable about liquor, no one! I've come out with gold and silver medal winners from the SF Spirits competition. I love liquor and I love to collect different kinds of liquor. I've purchased non-alcoholic options too for friends or the office. I spend hours here, walking the aisles, asking questions and gaining lots of knowledge and information. I've watched the virtual shows that they host as well. I'm a fan! Been a fan since Texas, I've been to Total Wines in at least three states and I'm never disappointed. Thank you for my collection of single malts that represent all the regions, my Armagnac, cognac, vodkas, rum, ale, and whiskey. I love their mini bottles because you can try something without committing to a full bottle. I've found some winners in the mini bottle section and went on to full sized bottles ( cola flavored rum, black cherry whiskey, iced tea vodka, whipped Vodka, peanut butter whiskey, etc). Went to the champagne class last night hosted by Laura and Helen! They had so many snacks, cheese and meat, grapes, desserts, everything! We sampled 8 different champagnes/ sparkling wines. Second time here and the last time as well. We are in our 50's and look even more older. After shopping at the store for 45 mins and selecting our beverages, At the check out we both(Both in our 50's) were required to show our ID's. One of us showed the id and the other was not carrying the id. Your policy as below states "may require" ID. Or you can require to see an ID for every individual when entering the store regardless of the age so you are not wasting anyones time. To save you time on your response for your referenece your policy from your online website is posted below: "All parties in a group may be required to present identification. If you appear to be age 30 or under, our team members will ask for identification to ensure we are doing everything we can to prevent sales to minors. It's our responsibility to our neighbors and the community." The policy "All parties in a group may be required to present identification" seems more of how the cashier and floor manager intends to profile you. So, the selection is still great. As you can see in my previous rating I love curbside, and today was another good reason why. I want to treat my friends to a German evening of food & beer, and the selection here is great. I found the beer, and paid $35 for 4 cans and 12 pack. I get it, the import fees. The beers were in the wrong place, and I did not check the price signs carefully, so this was more than I expected. So I went back to look (the German in me). The 12 pack was correct (wrong place) and the cans were a dollar less than I was charged. It's just a dollar you say? Yes. So I literally only stopped at Customer Service on my way out to tell them, not to get my $1 back. But, the attitude from the lady I told, and then her the snippy "Do you want me to ADJUST that?" had me saying yes. Yes, now I will stand here from another 5 minutes while you get my $1.08 back. And the silent handing over the $1.08 with no apology, thank you, or good-bye did not go unnoticed. $1 or $100, it does not matter. I am taking another 5 minutes to write this review. I am not going to mention names, because this is literally a customer service issue all around. I get that everyone is clambering to hire people, but they are still doing a job, and I still spending MY hard-earned money. CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS. I will go back to ordering my stuff online and picking up. Or maybe drive the other way to BevMo. We need to order a boatload of alcohol--wine, beer, tequila and bourbon--for our upcoming wedding reception. My friends and I scheduled a wine tasting at Total Wine and More on Arden Way in Sacramento and were lucky enough to get Ty as our "sommelier" for the evening. This guy knows wine! He also knows how to advise people on what type of wine to purchase based on crowd, crowd size, event, food and more. He's also chill and so much fun. I consider our "wine tasting excursion" to be one of many fun "tasks" associated with my reception planning; it certainly was not a mundane "to do" chore. Originally, I had planned to buy my wine at Total Wine and my alcohol and beer someplace else. I switched gears when I realized it was going to be be easier just to get it all at one location. A manager at Total Wine, Ty was able to assist with our entire order. And while he was going to be out of town on the day of our reception, he ensured our order would be ready to go when our wonderful planner went to pick it up on the day of the reception. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the bottles they have sampled, but it's advisable to take their recommendations with a grain of salt as they can't guarantee you will like the flavor. The craft beer in the fridge is fresh and new. However, anything on the shelves that are outside the refrigerator that is craft beer is likely too old and should not be purchased. Sours, Tripels, Stouts, Lagers, and Pilsners should be fine if they are 6 months old, but do not buy an IPA older than 6 months old, as the can could explode, as mine did today all over my kitchen. Tip: You can purchase individual cans from a 4-pack if you only want one. The parking lot is a good size for the store. read more

First off, I call in Total Wines the Disneyland of liquor stores. They're all super well stocked, the staff are super knowledgeable and legit care, the variety/depth of what they have is amazing, and the store has an upscale feel. Now I like BevMo and grew up going to them but now nearing mid-life crisis, I much prefer this place that's super clean, organized, and well stocked by nice, passionate people. But there's more! The main thing that prompted me to post this is that they have classes! It's usually wine or champagne but at the back of all the stores I've ever been to, they have a classroom where they do monthly classes on wine. I've probably been to 10 of them and a few repeats. They have courses designed around several different topics: wins from the southern hemisphere, wines from France, wines from Italy, wines of Napa, champagne/sparkling wine, wine pairings with snacks, and a couple others I can't remember. They even do livestream courses with the actual vintners. Do you usually get to taste 10 or so wines/champagnes and snack on charcuterie. My favorite and the most important part Is its only $20 bucks. Totally worth it and a good, fun, cheap thing to do. I love this store. It's huge with a huge selection for both wine and liquors. If you join their rewards program (free) then you can rack up points if you're a regular and get discounts on future purchases. I definitely reccommend using the app to navigate and make your visit quicker. If you search a wine or liquor it'll tell you what aisle and section that the item is in. The app also has a bunch of coupons/offers so make sure to add them to your account. You can order items for drive-up to your car and they're usually pretty quick with getting the orcer out once they know you're outside. The employees are nice and knowledgeable so if you ever want a reccomendation they'll be glad to give you one. Sometimes they have free tastings and those are a great opportunity to try before you buy. read more

I've been to this Total Wine many times over the years, most recently this weekend, with a friend. What I love about Total Wine is that they have every kind of alcohol a person could possibly be looking for, for the best prices in town. Also, you don't need to buy 6 bottles to get a good deal, like you do at some other places. We ended up purchasing a bottle of Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka, which I was primarily familiar with due to having consumed it at a number of Yelp events. Aside from the vodka, we also purchased a bottle of cranberry Canada Dry. When we got in line, there were only a few people in it, but within a few minutes, it was starting to wrap around to the side of the store. At this point, the head cashier yelled out that there were multiple lines, and everyone split to the different registers. Totally understand why she did that, although it resulted in us having to wait longer, since the people in front of us were purchasing locked up items, and kept changing their minds. We couldn't believe how crowded it was, but the cashier said that it's normal to get rushes like that on weekend nights. Guess that makes sense. read more

Total Wine and More has been my go to for a couple of years for all my wine (and more) needs. I This store has a wide selection of wine, as well as needed party/hosting needs. Total Wine sells everything from wine tumblers and glasses, games, wine openers, snacks, etc. The prices are affordable and have their "mix 6" sales on their wines pretty often. I really enjoy coming here to find really hard to find wines that's not carried elsewhere. Total Wine offers wine tasting ,which I would like to sign up for in the future. It was discontinued due to C-19. I'm not sure if they have resumed this service at the time of this review. The staff is usually helpful and knowledgeable to ask for recommendations. I will definitely be back when my current wine stock runs low. read more

I love Total Wine b/c they have such an awesome collection of wine, beer and spirits and fun gifts too! If you like to research your wines prior to going to the store you can shop online for store pick up. This option was super helpful during the pandemic and also makes it easy for parties when you're pressed for time or to restock previous bottles you enjoyed. It's also convenient that they have so many locations throughout the state b/c sometimes when I go to So Cal I preorder for pick up down there too. But I really do enjoy browsing the aisles b/c there are just so many things to find. Staff is super helpful and they even do wine tastings on weekends and offer various classes too. I appreciate the way the store is organized b/c it makes sense to this type A brain. Great selection of local craft beers and brews from around the world as well. Drove all the way to this location for some moutai yinbin only to be told they limit 2 per party. Needed 4 bottles and there was no exceptions per the employees. Had to order the remaining two from same store for delivery at an up charge of 50 plus dollars. Mind you this is a discontinued item that's also discounted at 40 something dollars. Not sure why there's such a policy but avoid this store. It's not like this is some super expensive alcohol. The Elk Grove location has way better service and not such ridiculous limits. I am such a huge fan of total wine and spirits. I can get a bottle of Meiomi Pinot at total wine and spirits for $16.99 the majority of the time. The exact same bottle is $24 at Raleys, little less at Sprouts. The mock up for wines at grocery stores is appalling. I haven't bought alcohol from a chain grocery store in months. Total Wine is still providing that total spirit shopping experience, from an unmatched selection to a super knowledgeable staff. Thankfully, they are considered essential enough to be open during COVID-19 and nothing has changed about the shopping experience beyond wearing a mask. I have never come here without spending literal hours wandering the aisles, eyeing bottle after bottle of incredible liquor with the envy of a man who is on a limited budget. They provide tasting notes and ratings, personal staff feedback and keep the shelves in top shape, so you'll be sure to have no problem finding what you need. And if what you need isn't here, man, you really are a picky drinker. I was able to get a Nicaraguan rum, a rare Scotch blend and a gluten-free beer for my friend all in one trip. The downside? There isn't one, really. I suppose you could shop around for better prices, like some of the deals at Costco, but ultimately you are paying for the convenience and the knowledge under this roof. Extremely rude. Two male employees standing chatting with each other while I waited to be helped. Instead I waited until the lady in lane 2 Zina, was done helping her customer. She didn't address me or make eye contact, didn't ask if I had a reward account. I asked if they have rewards, she didn't look up, pushed a button and said enter your number. No customer found. I asked if I could signup. She points at the QR code and says, do it at home. No one was behind me, they were not busy. Two guys chatting with open lanes, and one lady rude as can be. Called this location to find out if they had stock on the specific brand vodka I was needing. They stated they had it and I asked if they could hold three bottles for me. They said yes and I headed over. Got there an hour after speaking with them and they stated they didn't have anything on hold. No biggie... went to go grab the bottles and there were none. Such a shame to have called in advance and be given false information . I drove the thirty minutes for nothing and really regret not getting that name of the associate I spoke with over the phone. I have frequented several stores and made a trip to this one to buy some items for Christmas Day. We love to throw a party or two and have placed both very large and small online orders for pick up or have just popped into the store for a bottle of wine. They have a great selection Italian wines and liquor and carry some of the specialty items we have difficulty finding elsewhere. Some people like to window shop at the mall, but....I frequently find myself going up and down the aisles here, placing bottles in my cart to try and ending up with an suv full of boxes of wine and alcohol to store. read more

Now mind you my other two that were with me did not or was not buying anything at all... We all got to the cash register we saw a sign saying everybody will be carded... ok that's cool who ever is buying..So I gave him my license and then he proceeded to want to ask my boyfriend and my sister... THAT we're not buying anything they were just with me in the store but they wanted to have their license as well... So the clerk goes to another clerk and the other Clark states get a management so in all this time we're letting a line stay on still because of this procedure he would not ring me up until that manager came and I asked him why... It was because my two people that don't need to give their cards because they were not purchasing anything and I said OK and I walked away I will never go to the store again so. BEWARE everybody that will go to the store doesn't matter whether you're buying or not buying you will be asked for your drivers license when you get to the cash register and for what for what ???????????
