This place needs an overhaul on their completely rude and incompetent staff. Came in yesterday to get canned pineapples and some asparagus for some amazing kabobs I made and I asked the lady at the front desk if she knew where canned fruit was. She immediately said "No, I don't." Well thanks lady. I found them no thanks to her. Their staff is just always rude. Maybe it's my tattoos everywhere but I always feel Ike they look down on me and treat me like I don't have any money or I'm lower in societies "totem pole" than they are. On the other hand, they had a great sale on plants so I got some pretty orchids for only $8! They are so pretty! That's why I didn't give one star because the flowers saved their asses. read more

I've been going to this store since I was very young most of every one who works here or has worked here as been friendly and very helpful. I just wanted to take the time today to thank Ruth who works in the deli department. She is a very kind person and has exceptional customer service. I appreciate someone taking there time to smile and make you feel right at home. Keep up the great work everyone! Ruth please continue to be a great example of how to take care of your customers. If there was a way to give a zero star rating this would be the store deserving of it. We moved to Fair Oaks in February and every time I shopped there, (10 times, last chance given yesterday) I found extreme expiration of products in produce and dairy as well as moldy fruits and vegetables. My last trip ever was yesterday to buy some beer and wine for a party. 5:15 pm and just 2 registers open with long lines and full shopping carts in front of me. The most disturbing part of this last visit was that there was a manager calmly talking to an employee who ere both just standing there watching this customer service nightmare with absolutely no concern whatsoever. I placed my beer and wine on the end cap at the register (in full view of the manager) and walked out of the store. Horrible management at this store. Safeway, you gained a customer. I'm a Raleys fan for years. This is my store. I love their selection of gluten free products, for my daughter. Their produce & meats are superb. But their dedicated workers, like Peggy, are the reasons I will continue to drive out of my way to shop here. I recently tried their ecart service- sick child & no time to shop had me desperate to try it. I selected my items & hit the submit button, BUT I accidentally selected the wrong pick up time. A time that was way to late to go out with a sick kid. I called to fix my mistake, prepared to be disappointed, but of course I wasn't.- this is Raleys after all. Peggy said, she could not only have my groceries, at the earlier time I wanted, but also asked if I wanted to try new deli items, based on my selected items & she would include my free samples with my food (Best. Ham. Ever. BTW) Peggy really went above beyond & that's why this is & will always be my store. My ecart produce items could not have been better selected had I done it myself. My groceries were great, well packed & I never had to leave my car. Quickest & best shopping trip ever. Thanks so much, Peggy. read more

This store has gone completely downhill since 4 years ago. I use to like to shop here. Now it's so dirty. The deli cases are beyond disgusting. The floors are dirty. The shelves are empty. Kinda like shopping at Walmart. When they have sales, they don't have the items in stock. There has been a big turnover in employees. The employees working before were so helpful & polite. Now they are not helpful or don't know how to answer a question. Lines are long. Not shopping here anymore. Will drive further to Madison store. read more

I have been buying sour dough bread in their bakery a long time. I don't know what has happened but when you slice the bread it falls apart. Last week I bought the worst loaf of bread ever. It was a loaf of Pugliese. It was the worst loaf of bread I bought. It literally crumbled into tiny pieces. The inside of the bread didn't look right. It looked like they wrapped some fresh dough around some old dough. I trough the Bread on the garbage. read more

I won't shop anywhere else. I've been shopping at this Raley's location since 2003 and the customer service is well beyond expectation. The meat and produce are great and they have very well trained butchers who will assist you with any request. Need a beef shank bone for your 17 year old puppy who is headed for the rainbow bridge? They'll get you one and smile while doing it. Not sure what a "Boston Butt" is? They know. And they'll keep a straight face while enlightening you. When one of my kids was diagnosed as being lactose intolerant the dairy staff special ordered 3 gallons per week of lactose-free organic whole milk for me - FOR THREE YEARS. (This was over a decade ago - hard commodity to find at that time.) The checkers and baggers greet our kids by name and ask about their sports and schools events. When my kids were much younger I experienced any parents nightmare: they were begging for stuff I wasn't going to buy them and melting down at hearing "no". I had a cart full of groceries and two unholy toddlers on by hands. I'd finally had it and just as I proclaimed that we were leaving WITH NOTHING a bag boy walked by. I asked him to put our shopping on hold while I took the cretins home for further discipline. He didn't miss a beat. He said, "Yes ma'am. Ask at the front when you come back. The cart will be in the big fridge in the back." And it was. The pharmacy staff are helpful and efficient. The natural foods staff will find and order just about anything you can imagine. The bakery and deli are well run and accommodating. The store and parking lot are clean and well maintained. Any minor issue I've had over the years (rain checks, wrong price, etc.) has been dealt with in a timely and apologetic fashion. This is my neighborhood Raley's and I wouldn't shop anywhere else. read more

I grew up in the area, and have shopped here routinely for MANY MANY years. Although I no longer live in area, I make a point to stop by a couple of times a month (mostly to see Akili at the coffee desk.) I have on several occasions (more than I care to share) purchased items from the "Health Food" section that have been rancid. On 2 of those 6 occasions, the items were actually expired (but I own that fault for not paying attention.) The other 4 times, they were just bad. I routinely get charged the price that is NOT the marked sales price, I worry that with the number of elderly that shop here, they experience that too (and do not pay attention.) More than you KNOW, it pains me to rate this location so low. The store is often empty when I shop, and I will say (for the most part) EVERY clerk is amazingly friendly. However, there is a gentleman that has been up front in the mornings lately that does not appreciate customer service. This morning, I clearly bothered him when I refused to finish my transaction, because even after the voided item (something not honored at posted sale price)-I was still being asked to approve the TOTAL amount for both items. Ridiculous! He could not understand why I would not ok a $9.28 charge for ONE item that sells for $ 5.19 (this is not rocket science!) I am "thinking" that the "stress" of Self Check early in the morning may be part of the problem, and I understand that. Students come in and make purchases at self check, and all eyes need to be on those transactions (I get it.) But I'm almost 50, shopped here for 25 years, don't lost sight of a regular (because you are focusing on what MIGHT be a shoplifting concern?) Being the person I am, I WILL return to this location, chalking up the 8 bad visits (compared to the 25+ GOOD) and hope for the best. I would STRONGLY suggest that price marking be reviewed, and that for goodness sake, when a regular comes in, don't treat them like a burden because they call you out price issues OR returning items that are bad. I am NEVER rude as a customer, I only remotely get "strong worded" when I'm being treated poorly (unacceptable.) I would hope that the demographic of shoppers here (again, MOSTLY elderly) the care and concern given would be of UTMOST importance! PLEASE note, the abundance of visits are made EXCEPTIONAL by Akili in the bakery/Peet's counter. In a perfect world, he would be management. He exemplifies customer service. This raleys is in a great location for me, so I find myself shopping here whenever I'm in town visiting. I've always had great costumer service here, and the store is always clean. The thing that makes it just 'okay' for me is their produce section. It seems small to me! It never gives me enough options and the produce always looks a little sad. read more

Catherine at the deli is rude, plain and simple. A very unpleasant individual who treats customers as a bother and barely communicates outside of grunts. She had to look up a code today and slammed the binder she had to look through on the counter. I could maybe attribute such an attitude to her having a bad day, but she's been like this every time I've encountered her. Just a terrible person to make customers deal with. read more

Well, I see things have actually gotten worse in 6 years! For awhile things here were much better, however it has taken a serious down turn for the last 2 years, so much so we only go here for emergency needs. Let's break it down 1. We spend close to 1200 per month at this store. We (and many other customers) have repeatedly talked to management about ongoing issues with the store, we are ignored. (Like those damn cinnamon pine cones). 2. We shop every 2-3 days. At least 1 avocado is inedible (and we are experts with these fruits), salad is black on the inside or they are simply out of produce. 3. They are actually out of items frequently or just stopped ordering them. This used to be a go to place for gluten free foods for me, apparently the new bakery manager decided they do NOT need those items any longer. I finally got this answer after getting the run around for 3 week.s But I could order 5 GF cakes for later use. Really? WTH am I gonna do with 5 cakes? 4. Meat quality is going downhill. Expensive, flavorless steaks, running out of chicken, crazy prices for meat... so done with that. 5. Service. This has been steadily going downhill. It's so bad, my husband doesn't even want to come into the store anymore. He always winds up bagging the groceries, as the bags boys/girls stand around chatting, checking their phones or staring off into space. A lot of the long time workers have left, the newer ones should go work at the DMV, a better fit for their personalities. Many are down right rude, so much so I try to only go when the ones I know will be there, so I don't have to deal with the new people. Especially the lady in the deli, she is one of the most unpleasant people I've ever met. If shes working I won't buy anything there. She's newer, the older staff rocks. I've left commentary on their surveys on each receipt. We've made suggestions, or question why x to store management. At this point, I question whether Raley's corporate has any idea of what goes on in their stores. It's sad when I place you really liked makes you feel like an inconvenience when you shop there. So, we're taking our money somewhere else going forward, to places that appreciate it. read more

Sad to see all of the negative reviews because we never have any issues coming here. We live very close by and are in this store a lot, and the staff is always so friendly especially since we have been coming here for years and years so you start to get to know employees. I will say though that I have seen their security guards watch people a little too much that really are minding their own business and doing nothing wrong plus I have had some rude stares from them myself even. I am so glad to have a store so close by my house and I love the fact they have the postal services as well, especially if I get off work and the actual post office is closed. read more

Most of the people who work here are nice however some are very rude. I have been suffering with gout on top of arthritis and scoliousis so I had to use the disabled cart like I have at Safeway and Walmart but unlike those stores this woman with short hair in the checkout line sent a clerk outside while I was waiting for a Lyft driver to arrive to make sure I didn't steal their disabled cart! This woman is very rude and seems to be good friends with the woman manager who screamed at me last November for a leaky crab package that wasn't properly frozen. I will avoid Raley's like the plague an do my shopping from now on at Safeway which has much more courteous management than this creep. read more

Horrible costumer especially from the mananger. I stopped by to pick up few items. Went to the register, slided my card, lady said, no, put it in the machine to read the chip. The machine was glitching right in front of me. So, ok happens, I give her a different card, same thing. She calls the mananger, machine still malfunctioning. I asked her if she could slide the card somewhere else. She said, no. And then looked at me with this look like its all my fault and told me to call my bank with a mean demeanor. First off, the place is clean and staff friendly. Also, they don't seem to suffer from the bums and homeless as much as some competitors nearby. However, the place has been going downhill in some areas. Unusual for a raleys, sometimes many items are out of stock. For awhile there I thought they were going out of business. Also the prices on non sale items are usually the highest around. Even their sale items are often way more than other local stores. read more

Someone really needs to start paying attention to this store! Every time I go there it is one bad experience after another, ranging from RUDE, unhelpful employees to...... They have a fish market in the back and it either smells like rancid, rotten fish or bleach, no in between. I am a huge fish fan and would never purchase fish here. You can actually smell it from at least 100 feet away. I do everything I can to avoid that area. I bought a $13 roast there last week and it was bad the next day. Really? $5 strawberries that had mold the next day. The list goes on. For a store that charges PREMIUM prices like Raley's does you would think there would be a better quality control. I don't do the majority of my grocery shopping there because of all these reasons. It is in my neighborhood and convenient to just pop in for a couple of items. But no more. Yesterday was the last straw. I purchased a large take out box of chicken fried rice and 4 pot stickers to the tune of about $11. There was not one piece of chicken in the whole box. The rice was warm but the carrots and peas were cold. The pot stickers tasted like they were stuffed with spam. Very disappointing. This store has steadily gone down hill and I should know, I have been going there for decades but no more. Things sure did change when Tom Raley died. Do yourself a big favor and avoid. read more

Not sure what's up with negative reviews...seriously. We live near at least six grocery stores and could conveniently shop at any of them - three of which are Raley's/Bel Aire!! This store is the most friendly and well stocked market around. I purchase organics most of the time - this particular location ALWAYS has the freshest organic produce on the shelves. read more

Elderly man fell in the store today. Very sad. Me and another person help him and while attending to him, I saw 3 employees look and walk away. It took 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge the situation. This left a bad taste. I'm done with this store. Most of the employees are nice but there are a few bad apples in the bunch. And yes the lady with the short hair is a B$&@H. She looks like here face is made of stone. Yes I do love our Raley's however I am sad when they change or stop offering a product which results in the necessity to shop somewhere else. Recently they changed the chocolate dipped peanut butter cookies in the bakery section. They are no longer dipping the cookie so the chocolate covers both front and back of cookie. (OK...I'm editing my first post! Someone was putting new cookies out today and they said it sometimes depends who is dipping the cookies in the chocolate! All ok now!) Also many months ago someone in the bakery made these amazing almond croissants with lots of the white drizzle on top (worthy of being in a splendid French bakery!) that were so good but they are no longer made the same so I'm not tempted to buy them anymore! Which is good health wise! One last note, I sometimes go to Whole Foods for salmon because I feel it might smell fresher. I am trying to figure out when Raley's receives their fresh batch of fish. (OK...I'm editing my first post! Today, Monday the salmon is delicious with a fresh smell!) I am sure it must be necessary for a business to sometimes make changes in order to save a little money and I suppose all the shoppers have a few favorite things they would like to stay the same in quality and /or price. Like Ocean Spray 100% cranberry juice going up in price however I think it has gone up at Target too! Thank You for the fresh fruits and vegetables! I went into Raley's yesterday. This is not my usual store because it is a little out of the way for me. That will change!! Not only were all the employees very nice, and helpful. They had my favorite beer!!! Lol, seriously. I found their micro brew area, and was very happy to see American River Brewing Beer. They had 7 different beers from that Brewery. I was in beer heaven. I see their Beer around, but never that large of an assortment. Good choice Raleys! I will be back! read more

Where do I begin? DEBBIE! As I walk in she and two others are standing in a circle talking about how some girl was dancing last night. None of my business so I keep walking. After getting everything we need the lines are not long but the cashiers were taking long (no big deal). I asked Sandra "how long the customer service desk was open?" She responded with 7 o'clock. So I walked over to the desk and for about 5 minutes while Debbie talked with a customer about a domestic dispute. The women went in to detail about how some man kept coming over to her place harassing her. (Mind you, there was no acknowledgement that the 3 of us were standing there)- me, my girlfriend and my daughter. That's when I interpreted with "excuse me, hi, are you still open here?" Debbie responded with yes till 7, they can help you with that over there" and pointed. I said to her " I know they can, I stood in line and noticed you were open and believe you can help me here, Right? She said "yes, I was helping her on the phone". I told her "great I just noticed you guys were talking and you were not necessary helping her." So then I said "I'm sorry I'm I being rude for asking for some assistance when you were clearly not working?" And she continue to cash me out with out any response. She said "I'm sorry, I didn't know you were in a rush". I said "Im not, I just expect a little better customer service." As I walked out she yells "sorry I didn't help!" Very immature I might add. AT FIRST MY THOUGHTS WERE THAT I WOULD STOP SHOPPING HERE. BUT I WONT. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO SHOP AT A DIFFERENT PLACE BECAUSE OF THE EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WILL CONTINUE TO SHOP THERE AND LOOK TO SEEING SOME TYPE OF IMPROVEMENT! IF NOT I WILL TAKE IT UP A NOTCH. read more

Raley's was wonderful when I ordered online. Yes, I had to wait a few days for a pick-up date, but that's par for the course in this pandemic. However, I got almost everything on my shopping list, and it was immediately brought out to my car when I went to pick it up. The young lady bringing the groceries was very friendly and courteous. We have shopped at Raleys since we moved here in 2003. We love our store and the people who work there, especially Will, but after today, we will not be returning until a vaccination has been created OR corporate decides to change their policy regarding requiring ALL customers to wear masks. Or maybe never. Corporate has decided to not require masks. Yesterday there was a mother and two young girls (one coughing profusely) who did not wear masks, along with about 1/3 of the customers in there. Today, it was about 1/3 as well along with a very belligerent couple arguing and cursing without masks. This is not about individual rights. It is not a right to impose nasal and oral droplets on apples that I may pick up and consume during a worldwide pandemic. This is not about anything political. This is about the health and well being of all of our citizens and the slight inconvenience of wearing a mask while being around items that other people will touch and eat. The manager told me this is a corporate decision. All I can say is that I am sad that I will not be able to shop there. Trader Joe's has 100% compliance every time I go and limits the numbers of shoppers. I want to be healthy and live. No matter how much I liked going to my neighborhood Raley's, it is not worth getting sick or worse over. So sad. read more

The manager seems to talk down to the employees a lot. I think the employees here deserve a better manager/owner/whoever that mean lady is.
