This was my first visit to the store. I stopped in to pick up prepared fruit from the produce department. I was pleased to find fresh mango, cantaloupe, and pineapple in plastic bowls for a fair price. The store was packed with people and there were lines at each register so I decided to head for Self-Service. When I have more time I'd like to come back and look around. read more

If the students find this healthy food, I feel so sorry for them. We tried one more time for a deli salad tonight. Guess I am cooking after all. The egg was literally smelly, croutons were mushy, lettuce brown and black in more spots than I am comfy with, the mushrooms were thrown away. The beets were good, but then it's hard to ruin a beet. Let's just say that Raley's is a bit expensive. However, I find it cheaper than Save Mart, so it couldn't be that expensive, could it? Mostly when I'm away from home, I stop at a Raley's for Peet's Coffee. That was the case today. Usually, by the time I arrive, I've got a migraine headache. Thankfully, that was not the case today. I searched the store and found the Peet's counter next to the bakery, as it is in the Manteca location. That's on the far left as you enter the building, halfway toward the back. Since this location doesn't have a dedicated counter as with some stores, I waited patiently--no bell, either--for someone from bakery or deli to help me. She arrived fairly quickly, and she was extremely pleasant. I told her what I wanted and she had a bit of a search on the list of drinks. Those bar codes do tend to turn into a page of blobs after a while, I'm sure. She took care of the drink quite happily and never made me feel at any time that it was a pain, even though the Javiva drinks are quite a bit of work. The drink was great and she handled everything well. I went to sit down at a table and work on some photos and video clips, and there was one of four small tables unoccupied, thankfully. It was a bit close, with the floral department crushing around those tables. Still, it was enough space and I did only buy a drink. read more

The post office hours at the merced location are different. they close at 7pm. I don't know about everyone else, but I recycle packaging materials. Make sure they're perfect, because you may or may not get help from the post-office workers(depends on who's working) and I think I've been over-charged a few times(Inquire about all the prices, sometimes they don't have your best interests at heart) My roommate told me that Raley's is getting "cheaper" As in, the deli department ran out of mayonnaise and instead of opening up a mayonnaise container from the store, they insisted that she buy the mayonnaise herself to put in her sandwich. What kind of quality of service is this? I also asked if the bakery department to slice the almond pastries for me, as I was taking a box to a church event, and they refused to cut the bread, even though I offered to make a purchase first. At Anderson Bakery, their workers would not even hesitate. Even if there is a violation of health code blah blah, I don't need attitude. So much for customer service being priority. Great experience each and every time! Steve is tops in customer relations. He is professional and caring. Kim in health care department is extremely knowledgeable of her inventory. Since I know nothing about vitamins, I rely on her friendly assistance. As for the store, in general, yes it costs a bit more--but, I find Raleys well worth it! read more

Mikey on lane 4 on 8/27/2020 at 8:00pm made our experience and this location terrible, unwelcoming, awkwardly silent and uncomfortable. My husband and I come to this location quite often and are usually treated with great hospitality however Mikey must have missed the memo that customer service is in his job description. Upon reaching the checkout stand there was no greeting let alone any exchange of words. To be completely honest Mikey stared at my husbands hair but made no eye contact with either of us. My husband and I then exchange a look at one another then looked back at him waiting for some type of greeting or some type of acknowledgement, SOMETHING. But nope. He just grabbed our things and started scanning still saying nothing still not acknowledging us. Head down, lethargic body language. No greeting, no eye contact, No total was given, No "thank you" No "Have a nice night" we got absolutely nothing! I've never felt so unwelcomed in a place of business. Mikeys first and only words were, "paper or plastic" I hope management sees this and gives this employee proper training in hospitality. employee Kim (Asian lady) that works at the customer service and usps service, purposely misplaced my package. This is the third time she misbehaves with me. She seems to be extremely unhappy with her job, if she doesn't like working customer service, she shouldn't work in that department. I lost my money and my packages item. read more

I want to love this store. It's close to my place and has so much variety. I'm just sick and tired of standing of standing at the deli counter. The times I've done it, they seem so confused on how to make the regular deli sandwiches, several times. Don't expect a quick visit. Today I had 2 deli employees walk past me without eye contact. This is for the Peet's Coffee inside Raley's. I never knew Raley's had a Peet's coffee inside!! But their mochas are so good - the coffee is stronger and the mocha flavor is rich. They mostly serve coffee drinks though, I was hoping to get a green tea latte. Get a mocha from here instead of Starbucks. read more

I went tonight to purchase a dessert for our Christmas lunch tomorrow and noticed in the Bakery department a pre-ordered customer tray of cookies and asked about it. Teresa told me that they normally request 24 hours in which I debated if I'd have time in my morning break to come pick it up. Due to my dilemma Teresa went out or her way and with the help of Megan they decided to go above and beyond and prepared my tray in 45 minutes. When I returned it was beautifully displayed which left me touched by how considerate and accommodating they were. I'm definitely greatful to both of them for giving me the best customer experience I've ever received at any retail store. I write this in hopes that the management at Raley's takes a moment to recognize their exceptional staff for the service they provided to this proud Merced Raley's customer... Salad bags are 99¢ everywhere, this Raley's always charges $2.59-$2.99 for the same bag which costs them no more than 65¢; thanksgiving week they raised their prices to $3.99 per bag. Their Avocados are $2.50 each. Everything is over priced for the same items you can get at all other grocery stores. I love Raley's. A native of the County of Merced, I lived in Sacramento for 25 years and when I moved back home one of the few things I missed from the Sacto area was the Raley's/BelAir stores. I shop in both Merced and Turlock stores and love the beautiful displays, the clean stores, the truly nice employees who go out of their way to engage every customer, and proactive management. Their prices are generally representative of what's available in the community and their selection of vegetables and meat is superior. They have products which are unavailable elsewhere in the area. DON'T EAT HERE! We came here several months ago & I had forgotten that we returned our sandwich because they were terrible! Not remembering that this happened we chose to eat here again today for lunch. There were only two people working and we were next to be called. We ended up waiting for over 20 minutes! Not once did either of the workers acknowledge that we were waiting for so long or say sorry for the wait. By the time it was our turn the girl took so long to make our sandwiches that the hot pastrami was cold by the time we sat down to eat. There was hardly any meat on the sandwich and once again it was terrible! They no longer have a soda machine so I bought a soda which was barely cold. Once again we requested a refund after wasting our entire lunch-break there! Please go somewhere else for a sandwich so you're not wasting your time or money. It seems the people they put back there to work are just out of high school or college-aged people who are only there to collect a paycheck and could care less how good they make your sandwich! I would give them ZERO stars if that was possible! We will never eat there again! read more

I used to come here all the time for groceries when I lived in the area. It is very clean, friendly staff and well-kept. The deli always has something good and you can't beat the bakery! They have the chocolate-dipped peanut butter or white shortbread cookies. It all tastes so fresh and delicious! They also have a red-box at this location which I've used at least 1x a week. Daley's has the best clean eating and organic food options in Merced. Their hot bar is my favorite place to grab a healthy quick lunch. Some items are pricier here then other places, so I work my visits into a rotation. read more

This store has a nice look to it. It is easy to find what you are looking for and it has a great Organic section which I love. In addition to groceries, it has a small post off desk so you can get multiple errands done at once! Merced isn't exactly known for their quality grocery stores or high end markets, so to have a store of this caliber available to the public; is truly a godsend. Many may argue that this store is far more expensive than others around, and although that may be true, this place shows you what it truly means to get what you pay for. Every area of this store is well maintained, the baked goods are always fresh, the meat is cut high above average standards, the produce is second to none, and the employees are expertly trained and always more than willing to answer questions and assist customers. I love coming here and feeling like each and every employee earns their keep, especially Jose in produce, who is a long standing veteran in the produce realm with a track record that could outshine any other person in the valley within the same field of work. read more

I just moved to Merced and I've visited this store three times already and the customer service sucks, everyone stares at you as if you're a creep. This rude lady with short hair at the express line seems like she doesn't even want to be in there. I made a mistake when checking out my items and tried calling her for help and she ignored me until I insisted. When I tried telling her that I misplaced my items in the wrong area instead of the bagging area. she responded very rudely and gave me an attitude and mentioned that I switched my things to the wrong area when I was only trying to do It correctly. I felt discriminated !!! She sounded as If I wasn't trying to check out my items. Yes I made a mistake like eveyone, but I'm not dumb to steal anything. read more

This is NOT what I would call a Good Review" we have been shopping at Raley's Merced Ca for nearly 9 years (terrific in store experience) so, over the last 5 months we have been ordering and having the items delivered.. Sadly every time we get delivery, something is either not included or wrongly selected. To-day our delivery was booked (10am) @ 9am I recited a call, 1 item had to be substituted (Tin Sweet Corn) other items where Not in Stock (understandable) B U T :- a butter we NEVER ordered was included and charged, 2 freebies (sugar & fruit bowl) Not Delivered.. When I called the store, I was told, "sorry our service is under par".. We have lot's of new employees.. Before our experience yesterday, my family and I absolutely loved Raley's. Who is known for best brands and produce in town in my experience. Yesterday I walked in w my younger brother who happens be be very tall and happened to have his Afro out. An elder couple began laughing at him and the man gives my brother a piece of rope and told him it was off a sailboat. We don't condone bigotry therefore we just ignored this mans ignorance and continued to shop. We see the couple again at the register over from us, so my brother began to pretend to jump rope in humor from this piece of rope.. the guy walks over and shows my brother how to tie a knot with the rope and suggested he can tie it to any tree! At that moment it was crystal clear that this guy went above and beyond to prove the kind of man he was. He walked off with his wife and the cashier didn't utter a single word, nor did she look interested at all in what just happened in front of her face. Nor did we receive a greeting. We were disgusted by both the customer and the service. Very disappointed Raley's. I will be driving out of the area before I walk back in your store again! read more

2 things. First. If you miss that Trader Joe's feeling of buying organic oats, wheat waffles or whatever Trader Joe's is selling these days. This place will satisfy that itch in your heart. It's got that neighborhood vibe and not that pasty white hospital feeling from the save mart's, food 4 less's and 99 cent stores seem to give off. I think it's partly the lighting and,tile flooring and decor. And second, the Post office. O.M.G. What a pleasant experience compared to the Main St. one on M. Not in terms of customer service, but more of it being less stressful. For one, you don't have to negotiate traffic just to enter a steep driveway to fight like savages for parking. Then there is the fact that most of the time there is no line, and even if you have to wait, there is sweet A/C and pleasant tunes playing. And lastly, if you're hungry or thirsty, it's a friggin grocery store. So grab a drink, wait in line and mail those packages. Au revoire M st. Post office. read more

Raley's is a generally expensive place to shop, so I don't go here weekly for groceries, but this is definitely the place to go for great produce, baked goods, or fresh meat, or something unusual that wouldn't be found at typical grocery stores. Basically, it's perfect for special occasions. Their produce is not only beautiful, it's delicious. Their bakery is even better. I would say their bakery has the best pastries in town. Their meat is fresh - I have friends that often buy fish here to use as sashimi. Whenever I'm looking for something organic, I always look here. And they're open bright and early, so I can always count on them to be there when I need something the morning before an event. read more

It's a champagne store in a town where most people are on a beer budget. It's clean. Staff is indifferent and dismissive. Nice selection of high end items, if you can afford their prices. Produce is no better than Food For Less or SaveMart. Parking is way too tight. I cannot stand the shopping carts. Deli is great, but prices are high. read more

RALEY'S is the best deli, bakery, pharmacy, post office, sushi restaurant, butcher shop (yes, there is actually a butcher who will get you whatever you want), gift shop, video/DVD rental place, and grocery store in Merced. The employees are pleasant, the produce is outstanding (and often local), the Rewards program automatically applies a cash reward to your purchases once every 3 months (not $5, more like $35) and emails amazing offers that you accept electronically and it automatically gives you free stuff and $$ off, the organic section has a great manager who will accommodate (order) anything you would like, there's a great assortment of options for lactose intolerant peeps, and it's close to El Asadero with amazing Enchiladas Rancheros. Plus (bonus) it never stinks (you know those stores that smell like rotting meat or bad fish - eeewwww) and is spotless. They are impeccable when it comes to expiration dates - in 12 years I have NEVER purchased anything even close to its expiration date (unlike other stores that shall remain nameless).
