Raleys will always be my #1 choice of grocery stores. They have gone out of their way in the bakery department to make a beautiful cake for my father in laws wedding and they don't even do wedding cakes! The ladies at the deli counter are always so helpful and the checkers recognize and greet you by name. Raleys is one of the more expensive grocery stores here in town, however I always get the quality that matches the price. Plus, with their rewards program, I am constantly getting e-cooks and my payback voucher. It just kills me when I have to run into another grocery store... I am 100% team Raleys! read more

Raley's is always great for customer service and this location is amazing. If I had a choice, I would never shop anywhere else. Some products do tend to run a bit higher in price but Raley's Dailes and Weekly deals and other coupons can offset this mostly. They also have a great clearance section. Some staples like pet food, we prefer to buy at Costco or Walmart but Raley's is the best for meat and produce. Hands down. Also, they have a great deli section for fast and fresh dinners and lunches and a wonderful alcohol selection for fun times. Wide selection of health foods also available. There was a time when this Raley's would have earned a 5 star review from me. I've shopped here ever since I moved to the North Valleys in 1988, and I've come to know many of the checkers, managers, and other staff well. That was until they all left, retired, or were moved to other locations. Now, all the "friends" I knew are gone, and the new people just aren't the same. Raley's gave up hiring full-timers like the old days, and the new part-timers don't have the same attitude or work ethics that created such a family atmosphere. It just isn't the same to shop there, but we keep going back because we know the store and the items. That brings me to the heart of the matter, the store itself. I have always found Raley's meat and produce to be superior. People say Raley's is more expensive, but I think you get what you pay for, and they have sales every week, that I watch and use. They also have house brands that are very good, and usually less than the name brands. When I could cook, they also had a lot of very good unusual items that I could use to experiment in my recipes, and I liked that immensely. They still continue to come out with "gourmet" stuff that I like to try, which drives my husband crazy, because he does most of the shopping now, and he can't find them half the time! Still, this location is conveinent for us, we know where everything is, and it's always clean, organized, and people are freindly, at least in the store. My husband has invented a term for the people who work here now, he calls it "the Raley's syndrome." They are friendly to you in the store, but it fhey pass you in the parking lot, they can't give you the time of day. Unfortunately, that seems to be the normal for customer service in many different locations these days, so I guess it's spreading. That's not the way it used to be here, and I'm sad to say that Raley's isn't the same any more. They say that customer service starts from the top down, so I guess the family run Raley's isn't the same anymore, either. read more

I think this is a great store but I should for warn you that everything time me and my Fiancé are getting double charge every time we do the e-cart then one of the two charges drop off after a few days this was very unfortunate for the two of us due to our bills being pulled out at the time and causing our account to over withdraw. Love this place. Everyone that works there is very helpful, friendly and courteous. Fairly priced with a great selection. I was able to purchase a sleeping bag, lightbulbs, baby food, wipes and some ice cream all in one stop. Wish they had a larger produce section. I never thought I would say it, but I quit Raley's! I might find another one but the one on North Hills Blvd has gone so far down hill, I can't do it any more. I have been a regular customer there for over 10 years and thought it was a great place. Now if I was a cow, I would be just fine but the way they treat their regular customers... I was in there yesterday and one of the checkers was screaming at the top of her lungs telling folks in line to go to other check out lines. We are all adults here, if I want to go to another line, I will......and then one of them was yelling at a couple to step back!!!! ...really. Having never visited a Raley's, I was looking forward to new and different products, specials, etc. Instead, I came away feeling somewhat... 'put upon.' I believe myself to be as savvy a shopper as they come, and I am cognizant about American retail, sales, etc. I prefer Safeway/Albertson's/Smiths and even, sometimes, Walmart. I enjoy perusing Big Lots!, 99 Cent Only Stores and the like. As long as the offerings are fresh and in-date, and quality, I am satisfied. So it was a bit more than a shock when I saw the prices at Raley's. Compared to other stores, this really is beyond the pale. Why are some canned fish - i.e., Chunk Light Tuna - almost 50% higher than other places? Nut butters, dried fruits, cereals... everything was, in my most humble opinion, grossly overpriced. Considering that a Smith's and a Walmart exist about one mile away, this was truly either highway robbery or an outlet catering to the 'Nose-In-The-Air' club. Maybe some folks feel better paying outsized prices for items which can easily be had for less. Years ago, someone complimented me on a dish I'd made and served at a dinner party. I said I had bought some of the ingredients at a Dollar Tree, to which she responded with much disdain. Anyway, the only real 'bargain' I saw were the Arizona-brand drinks in large cans, for $.79 each. However, considering the ill effects of that much sugar, even that was hardly a bargain. UPDATE: Only a few minutes subsequent to this review being posted, a comment was made by someone who gave their first name and last initial, but did not provide their position at the store. I mainly buy dried goods, some produce and meat, and some of their deli selection is good (i'm talking about you Fully Loaded Potato Salad.) This store is nice inside. Always seems clean and the staff are nice. I like the natural foods section, and hope they can expand it more in the near future. I am glad that they offer some specialty items, but it is a bit on the expensive side. One super nice thing that just happened. 102 outside and I had taken my dog to work as too hot to leave outside. Before I left work I called to ask if there was anyway possible for me to get some brown sugar without coming in the store (as I had my dog and didn't want to leave him in the car even with it running), and Rebecca said she would bring it out for me! My shopping back ground...We live out of town so we shop and stock up every week and with a larger family it can look like a super market sweepstakes run. We have been going to Raley's since they opened in Reno...YEA it use to be called EAGLE THRIFTY back in the "day"...anyway...with that said...this location in particularly has employees that are just spewing the corporate babel at the check out and I must say it's MAINLY the male checkers. They aren't genuine with their small talk and are always proving it by looking out into space when speaking with you or blasting by you response. All the condescending, in genuine, "caring" small talk wouldn't be so intolerable if it weren't for the FACT that on several occasions they have made little "joking" comments about how much FOOD my wife OR I have purchased on that visit...and then to top it off after letting corporate know about it we get the "form" letter about how much they appreciate our $20k-$25K dollars (well they didn't actually mention the AMOUNT) that we spend each and EVERY YEAR at Raley's. It would have had some merit if the comments about how much we purchase occurred AFTER my concerns were brought to cooperates attention. My wife WON'T go there anymore and has reluctantly gone back to WALLY WORLD (aka Walmart).
