Have never had Rally's or Checkers before but I have seen a lot of positive buzz on the internet before. I think this might be another example of a business zapped by the hands of private equity but hard to say if that is why this location on E. Washington is mid. Fries are too greasy and the burger isn't very good. Messy preparation and I didn't get a straw for my drink. Based on this experience I'm out on Checkers/Rally.

    Rally's Chicken Strips

Went to the drive-through on December 10 at 12:15 AM ordered three piece chicken strip, strips only and a number seven with a Coke. Can't even begin to express my disappointment my disgust in the food I bought and worked so hard for. The bread was so old and stale it literally crumbled when picked up. The fries were all smaller than a pinky and hard and cold. Worst of all were the chicken strips. Omg they were so unbelievably disgusting. Didn't appear to contain any chicken in the strip. Only cold hard breading. When tried to pull apart string like substance appeared to be inside. Can't express the disappointment and disgust in food quality. I am not someone who complains. However this was like nothing I've ever encountered. I want a full refund!! If not I will simply deny charges through my PayPal.

I got my order to go but the gentleman who took my order was kind enough to offer me a cup for some water. The spot was happening. Music, good vibes, the decor was fun. I couldn't decide which meal I was trying so I'm definitely going to make another trip sometime soon. I got the tenders with mac but added a side of greens. Boy oh boy the greens were the star and wow my tastebuds were incredibly satisfied. I've had greens but these were like some ultimate flavors and holy greens i definitely could just order some of these every now and again by themselves. Mac was great. Definitely complimented the greens. The tenders though omg. The flavor was insane. I gotta try them with the waffles next time for sure. Overall the wait wasn't long and my food was still hot. I ended up sharing with my son and he was even raving about it. Great service, fun and lit atmosphere, last but not least food was fire. Side note: people complain about price but I'll be honest, when the food is good and staff are amazing, the price to me doesn't matter. You get what you pay for and let's be real, this isn't chic fil a, this is hot boys and the chicken is definitely that.

It honestly hurt to see all that chicken go directly into the garbage, but they claim it was inedible. Since it's not a saucy type of flavoring, but a dry rub, they said that the heat was painful, and not flavorful. Back to the sandwich I enjoyed... I felt that there was a sweetness to the flavor that I liked, which I could see not everyone enjoying. There is also a hot dusting over the french fries which exacerbates any discomfort people are having from the heat. There really wasn't anything to cool it down. The macaroni and cheese was piping hot, although not spicy.

I'd long been curious about 5th Ave Grill and Bar, but for some reason I'd never stopped in. Today, I did. 5th Ave Grill and Bar is located right on the Main Street strip in Beech Grove. It's, you guessed it, a grill and bar. It's also, you guessed it, on 5th and Main Street. Beech Grove is pretty hit-and-miss when it comes to accessible businesses on Main Street. Fortunately, 5th Ave is pretty solid with a slightly slanted entryway and even a few tables for outdoor dining. Most nights of the week, they host either events or live music. On this day, they had a solid but not necessarily large crowd. As it's race day here in Indy, the Indy 500 was on most (but not all) channels. I was served fairly quickly. It always feels weird to order an iced tea in a bar, but I'm always grateful when they have it. I took some time to browse the menu. It's mostly your standard bar fare with several burgers, pizza, some handhelds, and a few other items. It's worth noting that handhelds don't come with a side - that's extra (chips or fries for $3 with the ability to upgrade the fries to a specialty for another $3). I opted for the breaded tenderloin sandwich. I added fries to it - I was pleased to see that they were steak fries. The tenderloin is definitely hand-breaded. It's a healthy size. It's what I'd call a good but not quite great sandwich. I didn't quite finish it, though that's partly because my always desired iced tea refill took a bit to actually get. The atmosphere? It's a bar. It's loud, though not unbearably so. People were being social (as is true for most bars). Accessibility was solid. I moved a chair away from a table, and it looked like most aisles were passable. I did not check out restrooms. Overall, I'd call this a very solid 4-star experience all the way. The service was solid. The food was good. The atmosphere was friendly. I enjoyed my time here and would easily return.

Yum yum yum yum yum yum yum! (This should be my whole review. lol)…read more Nothing fancy about this place. Just a small mom and pop dive that serves hot dogs, but the food is great. I ordered a charred jumbo Belushi (1/4lb beef Vienna hotdog, beef chili, shredded cheddar cheese - I held the onions) and a side of cheese fries. This is probably the best hot dog in town, and the chili on the fries was amazing. The chili by itself would be a good meal, but that's not an option on the menu. They might have the best fries in town as well; they're hand-cut. I enjoyed the cheese sauce on the fries too. For the future though, I will order a regular Belushi instead of a jumbo. It tastes amazing, but the jumbo just has a regular sized bun so the bun isn't big enough to hold the hot dog and all of the toppings. I was messy eating the jumbo Belushi because the bun couldn't hold everything. Having said that, the jumbo Belushi was darn good!! The staff was great too. They're kind, they brought the food out quickly, and they keep the restaurant clean. The person behind the counter recommended the Jordan (Vienna beef hotdog, beef bacon, grilled onions, sport peppers, mayo, mustard) and onion rings. It's hard to imagine a restaurant having something better on the menu than what I ate though.

You can get the dogs boiled or grilled. Definitely go with boiled. A GREAT meal, zero fuss. I'll absolutely be back.

I placed an order via the app to be picked up and taken back to our hotel room for the night. We ordered two Frisco Melts and a regular Onion Ring. The order of onion rings consisted of 5 rings of varying size. That was a bit disappointing...but I digress. When we arrived, there were a few vagrants at the door holding it open for patrons, surely in hopes that someone might tip them on their way out. We proceeded to the counter marked for take-out orders. We were, almost immediately, approached by a woman who directed us to the "new" take-out counter. She explained to us that the location of the area previously used for take-out orders caused congestion in the entryway. We sat near the correct take-out counter, quietly, and waited for the app to let us know when our order was ready for pick-up. Another woman, working that counter, diligently assisted multiple customers with their orders and then she addressed us after seeing that we'd been sitting there for a while. The app didn't say that the order was ready, but she checked and it was. I asked about the extra Frisco Sauce that we'd requested, and she assured us that it was there and gave us a strip of paper with a QR code for the drink fountain. The fountain area was somewhat of a mess, being that it is self-serve and people are messy. Someone approached us wanting to use our codes. Having already used them, we told her that we didn't know if they would still work. She proceeded to help herself, immediately after us, and was able to pour herself soda in drink cups that she'd already acquired. I don't know if that is theft of beverages, but we were not involved! The extra sauce that we paid for was, in fact, not present. We approached the takeout counter and requested them. With sauce acquired, we braved the doorway and kept our heads down as we exited, so not to be accosted by the people acting as unofficial doormen and made our way back to our room across the street. The food was hot, fresh and delicious.
