First time trying this out - quality smash burgers that are actually SMASH burgers!!! Negatives - it's Pepsi -wish the fries were crispier and hot. But the garlic aioli was a nice side sauce for dipping -sliced onions were a little hard to fully bite through. Chopped would have been nice -music is a tinge loud in the back room area -chili didn't have flavor Positives -burgers are delicious -toppings are fresh -burger buns are soft -spacious. Lots of seats to choose from -service was great. Staff was friendly and explained the menu line up since we are new to the area. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. Finally made it to Smash'd and I'm mad it took me so long! Hubby and I popped in on a lazy Saturday and it was perfect. Plenty of seating inside and outside, friendly staff and delicious burgers. He ordered the Cheesy Bacon Burger, I got the Frisco Melt and we split a small chili cheese fries. I like how thick their fries are and I can't wait to go back and have some plain. Hubby absolutely loved his burger and the chili fries were great. The bread on my Frisco could've been toasted a bit more as it had no crunch but it was still good. This spot reminds us of one of our favorite spots in San Diego (The Friendly) that we've been missing since moving here. We're about to become regulars! read more

We were just passing through, but worth the stop. They appear to be trying to revitalize the area so keep that in mind. I would guess that it matters which way you come into the area, but the place itself is neat. Plenty of seating and they had music outside. The food came really fast and for a Monday, it was quite busy. The burger construction was good, but the patty could have used a bit more seasoning. We shared the loaded chili fries. Pretty good. They have desserts and ice cream. No room! Lol. Great addition to the area. There appeared to be a lot of families. Kids eat for a $1 on Mondays. Awesome deal! read more

I don't know how I've missed this place for so long. We were looking for a good place for burgers and yelp suggested this location. We were not disappointed. I had the salmon Smashburger with two patties. The flavors are awesome and it's such a nice change from beef. The fries are crunchy and flavorful. The front desk counter person was very friendly and helped us understand the menu since it was our first visit. This is a great place to hang out with your family and friends. Very comfortable environment. Can't wait for it to warm up just a bit so we can sit on the patio. read more

I've had Smash'd on my list to try for awhile but just haven't made it in yet. But I saw the trailer at the Riley Festival and knew I had to try it since it pretty much came to me. It looked like they had a good variety of burger options from their regular menu on the trailer menu. I went with the original and it was pretty good! I'm not generally a burger person. I ONLY liked them smashed and with lots of toppings. And this burger was that. The burger patty was crispy, the bun was soft, and the toppings were crisp. We got our burgers in about 30 seconds so they had to be pre-prepared. The burger was just warm, not hot, but I'm sure that's just the nature of ordering your burger from a trailer during a busy festival instead of the restaurant. I'll definitely be back to try more! read more

I may have just found my new favorite local burger. Overall, the quality of the food was excellent. Each item was well-made, hot and fresh. The service was just as good as the food; everything came out quickly, and the staff members were hospitable. That said, things were a bit pricey, especially given the portion sizes. One bit of feedback, they really need to add shoestring fries to the menu. No smashed burger spot is really complete without them. read more

I have been seeing this place on social media and wanted to give it a try. I was able to park on the street and there is more parking available in back. There is outside seating, high top seating or regular seating available. The menu is plentiful and lots of options. I ordered the danger Smash'd burger with a double patty. We got takeout from here for a birthday dinner. I had trouble with the lack of allergen menu. I had to hunt to find that yes, they have gluten free buns available. They do have "gluten-friendly" fries as well. They carry a lot of sauces, and I think they're probably what "make" the burgers, but I couldn't find any info on what was in them so couldn't safely order online. I ended up asking for mayo on the side, but it wasn't included in our order. The gluten free bun was burnt, and without a sauce or cheese (which I can't have as I'm medically dairy-free) it was a bit dry. The burger patty itself was good, and the lettuce, pickles, and tomato were too. Fries were okay, but nothing special. So I'd try this again, maybe when I can ask about the sauces or when they get an allergen menu together, but it won't be my first choice for a burger for now. If you are gluten free and dairy free like me, may be hit or miss, but could be worth a visit if you're in Irvington. read more

My family loves this place! Up until my last visit, I thought it was ok, but they completely blew me away! We get the cheesy bacon as is but this time I added tomato and lettuce and ordered some sauces on the side. When I tell you, you have to try the garlic and horseradish aioli!! This stuff was amazing! For a quick, easy, and delicious burger spot, look no further! On busy nights you may have to circle the block to find street parking but it's worth it. There is patio seating and two rooms of indoor seating. When I walked in I was greeted by two kind and friendly employees who saw the indecisiveness written all over my face and helped me decide on a burger! It was a tough choice because there were so many unique options. I got the PBJ Time burger which was honey roasted peanut butter, Boar's Head bacon, crispy jalapeños, + pepper jack. I order it as a combo so I could get the sweet potato waffle fries and a drink. My friend got ice cream (Dr. Pepper ice cream!) which she so graciously let me try and it was super tasty! When you're walking in Irvington, passing this area really smells strong in a burger sense so it's just hard to resist stopping in. They don't have a designated parking lot, you'll have to find street parking. They have indoor and outdoor seating with separated sections for the bar area and the family friendly area. They have good customer service-- I was getting water and someone offered me a lid for the cup. Water was free. Pricing here is average --a burger cost around nine dollars and more, fries are about four dollars and more. It gets busy on a Thursday afternoon around 7 PM. The theater beside them has open mic night on Thursdays from 7 to 10 that's outside so you can enjoy that while you're eating your meal outside. You can get free refills on soda - they have Pepsi products. The water cup looks different. They have restrooms inside. After you order, you take a number and they bring the food to you. Many people choose to eat outside, especially if they have animals. I got the farmhouse burger that came with bacon and an egg with sweet potato fries and sweet sauce sweet. My husband got the dangerous burger with the cut fries. They place next door plays music so it was a whole vibe. The food was delivered hot, I love that! It didn't take too long either, another plus. Everything was so good. I love smashed burgers, so this is definitely a great spot to keep in mind. I really liked the regular fries but the sweet potato fries are really good too! read more

Hands down favorite burger in Indy so far! I'm a sucker for a good smashburger and they hit the nail on the head. I ordered a single burger with lettuce, tomato, bacon on the burger with pickles and their burger sauce on the side. I did visit during the lunch menu and was able to snag a combo for $13. The waffle fries were delicious and the ice cream was delicious. I tried the cappuccino and chip, so so good. Will be back! read more

Not only do they have Braveheart black Angus beef, but they have salmon chicken and impossible burgers. They have a burger of the month option, they have beer, ice cream and soda. I let them know I can't eat dairy and they gave me a sample of their dole whip selection of the month which is made with coconut oil. Pretty good option, sweet and spur. I ordered a headless horseman with horseradish aoli, onions, shredded lettuce and pickles. Messy but good. Whew that horsey sauce sure cleared up my sinus and burned a little goindown so it's the real deal! I really enjoyed my food here at Smash'd Burger. This is set up for a quick dinner where you order at the front and they bring it out to you pretty quickly. I got the PBJ burger, which was delicious and more than enough food as a single with fries. You can definitely tell that this place is popular locally because it was busy on a Wednesday night with families. Even though it was busy and never felt cramped or loud just very warm and welcoming. Great smashed burgers! Right in Irvington Food was excellent lots of options including vegan and vegetarian options. The smash burgers were incredible! I got the cheesy bacon with American and Swiss cheese and Boars head bacon, sauce and tomatoes. We also got the big IRV and an Original. Fresh cut fries were so crispy but soft in the inside. Sweet potato fries were very crispy and so tasty. Prices are a little elevated but the food was so good it was worth it. The restaurant had three rooms where you can sit. All very true to the Irvington "feel". Highly recommended. They were waiting at the counter when we came in, were very patient while we looked over our options and food came out quickly. read more

I was in Irvington for an event next door to Smash'd. We love a good smash burger so we were excited to try it! The line moved pretty quickly as they have two cash registers to order at. Plenty of seating inside and outside. The building is a bit oddly shaped but keep walking through to find seating. Food came out pretty quickly despite the signs saying cooked to order, please be patient for which I was thankful as I was very hungry. A great smash burger that disappeared so fast I didn't get a picture. They no longer have any waffle fries but the sweet potato fries were perfect on their own. The dole whip was a bit tart for my liking. Staff delivering food were super nice. read more

I do love a good burger. This is a good spot for a good smash burger with outside of the box toppings. They offer several options from beef to veggie burgers. They also sale beer and wine and on some days offer specials where you can get a beer, burger and fries for a low cost. There is plenty of seating outside and inside with free parking right in the front or in back. Bonus- depending on the day they have spoken word right outside. Don't think it's affiliated with the restaurant but it just so happens that's the same area people perform! read more

I got the Big Irv with loaded fries ( I feel my back getting bigger as I type this :) ) the vibe was very inviting and was met with smiles and even suggestions as well. Don't think it's just the front area when it comes to seating because it stretches up front and can accommodate more people not to mention the wonderful outside seating!! OMG!!!!! I finally found the BEST burger in Indianapolis. I had the Sleepy Hollow burger with a garlic aioli sauce. The sauce was amazing. It did not overpower the flavor of the burger at all. The burger was cooked perfectly with crispy edges. Great flavor mix. My burger also had fried onions, bacon and Swiss. OUTSTANDING!!! The Dole whip reminds me of a trip to Disney. I was introduced to Smash'd Burger Bar by my sister, who says that it is her go-to spot in the city of Indianapolis. I chose and made my way to Smash'd Burger which was very close to me at the time while out-and-about in the city. I was acknowledged shortly after I walked in and up to the counter to look at the menu featured above the counter. It always takes me some time to look through the menu, especially when I am unfamiliar with the restaurant. Once identified, I ordered the Beyond Smash'd (vegan beyond beef patty, lettuce, onion, pickle, smash'd sauce) with Waffle Fries and Soda. I chose to order takeout since I had a 187-mile drive back to the city of Chicago, but while waiting for my order to be completed I had the chance to get a feel of Smash'd Burger Bar. An ideal spot for lunch and dinner, this fast-casual style of a restaurant appeared clean, and its atmosphere gave off a bit of a sporty vibe in my opinion. And there are a number of tables and seats available whether it be inside of the dining area, or outside of the storefront. Now as for my food, the vegan beyond beef patty was beautifully presented inside of the foam container along with the waffle fries. After my first few bites of it, I moaned and said to myself "Damn!" because it was that delicious! And I must say that the smash'd sauce complemented the vegan beyond beef patty very well. I texted my sister shortly after eating it, telling her that I will want it again at some point, * chef's kiss *. I am well open to re-visiting Smash'd Burger Bar again when visiting the city of Indianapolis being that I had an enjoyable experience. I stopped in with my dad and kids to check out the burgers in honor of Burger Week 7/22-7/28. We were happy that the menu had more than just burgers because my father is a vegetarian and my youngest will eat one but prefers other options. After we placed our order we waited less than 15 min. Which was understandable since the food is made to order and there were people ahead of us. They have high top tables at the entrance with a small dining area off to the right and tables outside. Everyone enjoyed their burgers my dad even checked to make sure his was not meat and my son loved his breakfast sandwich. The smash burgers were amazing: we tried the farmhouse and the cheesy bacon burger. The fries (regular and sweet potato) were warm and delicious. We finished the meal off with the brownie sundae and the pineapple dole whip. It was all enjoyable! read more

Along with that, I also ordered the tempura shrimp maki roll. Inside the roll was cucumber and avocado with giant tempura shrimp right on top, drizzled in spicy mayo. The presentation was cool, a slightly deconstructed version of what I would get somewhere else. There wasn't a single bite left on the plate. These were the highlight of the show. The pork on them was thick, the slaw was fresh, and the bao bun itself was fluffy. We split two dishes for dinner- the short rib and the chicken udon noodles. The chicken udon noodles were fantastic- packed full of flavor and tons of toppings in it. The short rib fell a little short of my expectations, but I had high expectations to begin with. We have had the short rib multiple times in the past- and normally it is a hunk of meat, similar to a roast. Now, it is strips of tiny pieces of meat with a bone attached to it. If the owner/general manager is reading this- GO BACK TO THE ROAST STYLE- the strips of meat was too much work to eat. Still packed full of great flavor though. I had the bridge to Anshun for my drink. I had never had Baiju before, but glad I tried it. It was a tangy drink that was also sweet- would say it's a must try. Overall, some changes since our last visit that weren't expected, but overall had a great evening here. Can't wait to return.

It had been before the pandemic since my last time in Indianapolis and much has changed on the city's dining and drinking landscape. Following a recommendation from a bartender at Sundry & Vice, I made my way to BODHI. I didn't have reservations, which I'd strongly recommend, since the place was packed on Wednesday night before 6PM. Fortunately, I was able to snag a seat at the bar, which was ideal since I was dining solo. Upon scanning the hip, high-energy, yet petite dining room, I had a sense of deja vu about it before realizing that I had been in this space before back when it was Black Market. I started off with a cocktail from Bodhi's intriguing and expansive drink list, a 7 Realms of Happiness, made with Old Hamer Bourbon, Faccia Brutto Centerbe, Cappelletti amaro, saffron honey, and lemon. My thought was that it's their twist on a classic Whiskey Smash. It was bittersweet, yet balanced, and simply a delight. As for the food, BODHI's menu is concise hitting the most of the Thai food usual suspects. I had the Papaya Salad and the Shrimp Green Curry. The papaya salad came out first. I was pleasantly surprised by its plating, looking much more like an elaborate entree with its cashews, watermelon radish, and chicharrones than the humble side salad atop a leaf of lettuce or cabbage that I've usually received at virtually every Thai restaurant I've ever been. It was just a pretty plate as it tasted even better than it looked. It was fresh and flavorful as those flavors popped from the perfect balance of salty, sweet, sour, spicy, and funky. It was the best rendition of a papaya salad that I've tasted. My bowl of curry was no less successful in balancing those diverse Thai flavor profiles. Unlike some/many other curries I've had where it seems like a bowl full of sauce with bits and pieces of protein or vegetables, Bodhi's rendition achieved the perfect "solids to sauce" ratio. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and the curry itself was bold and bright on my tongue. It was a delicious spoonful. I loved it! For "dessert", I had a second cocktail, the Garnet, a booze-forward whisky drink made with Mars Iwai Tradition, Pinhook Rye, Akashi Ume Plum whisky, Veda Mushroom Liqueur, Balsamic Vermouth, celery & orange bitters, and topped with a Moon Smoke Bubble. It was very unique, tasty and satisfying, if not a bit difficult to describe. I would maybe compare it to an Asian-influenced Vieux Carre and I thought it was excellent. Service from Carli, the bartender, was stellar throughout my night as she was friendly, helpful and exceedingly outstanding in making my drinks. A definite rock star! BODHI was outstanding. I'm not sure how to best describe the place. Was it as an amazing Thai restaurant that also does incredible cocktails or an amazing cocktail bar that also does killer Thai food? Regardless, I could not have enjoyed my experience more. If/when I'm back in Indy, BODHI is at the top of my list for a visit!

The main floor dining like a lunch vibe, but it turned out to be a cozy choice. For appetizers, we started with the cornbread after our focaccia was unfortunately not the best. Seemed to be over-proofed. The cornbread was absolutely phenomenal and a must-have! A special shoutout to our waitress, Arya, who noticed our disappointment with the focaccia and generously brought us the cornbread on the house. That kind of service is truly memorable! I also had the beets and peaches salad, which was refreshing but a tad overdressed. Still, I couldn't resist finishing the entire dish. For my main course, I ordered the lasagna, and I can confidently say it was one of the best I've ever had. It wasn't overloaded with cheese and instead complemented by mushrooms and pesto, and surprisingly light on the stomach. My husband chose the filet and rated it an 8/10, saying he thoroughly enjoyed it. We were so full by the end that we skipped dessert. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful, and the staff was incredibly attentive throughout our meal. The only downside was the atmosphere; coming from Chicago, we expected a more bustling vibe on a Thursday night. It seems Indianapolis is a bit quieter during the week. Overall, we had a delightful dining experience, and hats off to Arya for her exceptional service!
