One of my favorite memories from The District Tap actually started with a shirt. We were sitting on the patio overlooking Georgia Street on a Fever game day when a couple walked by wearing one of the coolest Caitlin Clark shirts we'd ever seen. We complimented it, asked where they found it, and before we knew it, we were chatting with a wonderful couple who had traveled all the way from overseas just to watch Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever play that night. Moments like that are one of the reasons I love Indianapolis on game days. The patio was the perfect place to soak it all in. Fever fans filled the sidewalks, kids proudly carried homemade signs, and there was an excitement in the air that only comes from a city rallying behind its team. We could have people-watched for hours. Our waitress was exactly what every server should strive to be. Friendly, relaxed, and genuinely fun to talk to, she somehow mastered the art of appearing right before we found ourselves looking around for her. We never felt rushed, but we also never waited for anything. The food held up its end of the bargain too. The fried mozzarella disappeared embarrassingly fast and earned a solid 9.3 on my unofficial stretch meter. Crispy on the outside, perfectly gooey inside, with a marinara sauce that was every bit as good as the cheese itself. The chef salad was fresh, generously loaded with toppings, and easily big enough for a meal. I honestly couldn't tell you what beer I ordered... Because what I remember most is the experience. Sharing appetizers on a sunny patio, meeting fellow basketball fans from halfway around the world, and watching Indianapolis come alive before tipoff. It reminded me that sports have a funny way of turning complete strangers into friends. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're headed to Gainbridge. read more

We stopped by The District Tap for a couple of drinks, not dinner, and unfortunately the service left a bad impression. Our server was friendly and responsive to one member of our group (male) but repeatedly didn't acknowledge another (female). This wasn't a one-time thing, it happened several times over the course of our visit, and it came across as dismissive. As for the drinks: beer prices were nice and cheap, but the margarita was on the expensive side and not really worth it. The place seems geared toward bigger dinner crowds, which may be why a two-person drinks-only table didn't get much attention, but being essentially ignored isn't a great look either way. HELLOOO This is Justin's son :) I had a good and "bad" experience because when we got here the wait was quick but they sat us in a little back room :l I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with a side of "Cajun butter corn cobs" and you want to know what you get for 6 bucks of corn? Small, little, somewhat burnt, STEAMING HOT, not-so-buttery and not-so-cajun-ish corn on the cobs. Next we have the chicken. I would've rather grown a chicken, killed it for some wings, made a hat with its feathers and made sensory toys with its eyes The buns were probably the best part. The lettuce was cut smaller than you could ever imagine, the chicken had a good amount but tasted like it was drowned in Franks Red Hot Sauce. The tomato was a tomato This isn't all the restaurant though. The other times I visited here were AMAZING The times I sat in the big room were good because, there were TVs to save my boredom, the built in chargers were neat, and the food was just better! Busy place for lunch but the salmon, mashed potatoes and broccoli was excellent. Good choices for beer and especially some local breweries. I had the pork potstickers which were also very good. Stopped in here for dinner with my husband and my co-worker/her husband before we went to the Fever game last week. We lucked out with seats at the bar and got to skip the 45 minute wait for a table. Great time visiting this sports bar. Very spacious with a long bar and TVs everywhere. Booths, traditional tables, and high tops. Mini table top tv at your table as well. Service was excellent. We popped in here for a nightcap before heading back to our hotel. Definitely a good spot to watch the game, lots of options to drink. I got some seltzers and was able to try some that I had never had before. They have food options that we didn't try, but the food looked good and would accompany a sports bar vibe super well. Traveled to Indy for a conference. We stayed downtown and District Tap place was walking distance so we decided to grab a late dinner. One thing about me, I love a menu with a plethora of option. This was definitely one of those places. The table's selections ranged from pasta, to wings, to potstickers, to nachos to bang bang shrimp to cheesecake & we had NO complaints about taste. One of the worst meals I've had in recent memory. 1. POOR MANAGEMENT--Even though there was room in the rockin' main area, we were seated in a nondescript back room that reminded me of a cheap wedding reception. (If you're a manager, you don't allow your servers to sit people in overflow unless you absolutely have to.) 2. BAD FOOD--I ordered a Cobb salad that I swear came from a salad kit, complete with spongy turkey cubes, watery boiled egg and powdery blue cheese. (So bad I sent it back.) Had a wonderful time while I was there. They are also catering to the GenCon crowd, with a special drink menu and allowing (?) The servers to match a theme for the day (Thursday was Nintendo day). One of the vendors for GenCon gave us a 20% off app coupon (more on the app inna sec... ). There were some brewery and distillery reps floating around with samples (patron tequila and Revolution Brewing from Chicago came by our table). Service was promp and personable. HOWEVER, p sure the potstickers made me sick. I was sharing food or eating the same thing as my friend for the weekend EXCEPT for the one app. And I was throwing up at 1am. Soooooo. After being told a nearby bar was sold out of desserts, I happened to walk by The District Tap and saw they had a cast iron cookie on the menu -- and man, did it hit the spot! Warm, gooey, and perfectly baked -- it was exactly what I was craving. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff was friendly even though it was late in the evening. Classic American Food with a price tag that fits with downtown prices. We stopped in here to meet up with colleagues during a conference downtown and we were able to get seated into a booth right away. Lots of TVs with various games going on. I ended up ordering the chicken salad which was good and a very large portion, we also had the pub pretzel which had a few good dips as well. Lots of beer options if you're going with a beer-lover. Kind of loud in there but it's a tap house so you have got to expect that! read more

Huge inside, on Meridian & Georgia. Got lucky and was able to park in the front. The Pacers were playing and they had free gear! There were short and long sleeve shirts and light hoodies, so that was awesome! The menu is huge! Ordered the blackened salmon, chicken tortilla soup, & mango margarita. Everything was good! In the past I've had the shrimp bowl and fish tacos, I haven't had a bad experience yet with food. The bathrooms were clean and so was the bar area. Great for groups! read more

The wings we got the dry way were amazing! We ordered a side of Spicy BULLEIT Bourbon sauce on the side 11/10 I have no complaints at all! The nachos were delicious I would suggest the restaurant serving on a bigger plate because the toppings were there just not evenly distributed, still delicious though. Our beers were refreshing my wife got blood orange and I got my favorite strawberry blonde quaff on. Service was fast and polite. The vibe was chill. Visited here for the first time tonight before the Fever game for apps and drinks, everything was amazing and the place was packed. Our waitress, Riley, highly recommended the dirty style wings and the calamari, both were outstanding. She picked me out a surprise cocktail after I told her what i liked, I think it was called the Velvet Smoke? I had three..... She was incredibly attentive, hilarious, had suggestions, and took care of us despite having a full house. We will definitely be back anytime we're in Indy! read more

Some friends and I came to the district tap downtown to watch the WNBA All-Star game last night. There are so many large TVs and the servers can change any TV to a particular channel upon request (pretty nice & exactly what we needed for the game!). We got a large booth in the back and basically had a tv for ourselves right in front of us! I started off with the 16 ounce of the mango cart on draft and it was delicious and very easy to keep sipping on! For dinner, I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with a side of tater tots. Our waiter recommended that more people seem to enjoy the tots than the fries and I totally agree. The tots were crispy on the outside with a soft center on the inside and I just selfishly wish I had even more I love buffalo chicken and thought the wrap was perfect as well. My friend and I both ended up taking leftovers home and can't wait for dinner tonight! read more

Big sports bar that was pretty busy before the Pacer Game, but emptied out as it got close to game time. Food was reasonably priced and serving size was on the larger side. I ordered the ribs and a full rack was more than I could eat! The ribs were average. Maybe a little on the dry side. Not horrible, potsticker appetizer was good and so was the Vanilla Bean Cheese Cake. This was exactly what I expected from a downtown sports bar. Our server was good. No complaints. read more

While visiting Indy, we decided to check out The District Tap Downtown since it's the official hangout spot for DCI--and it did not disappoint! We grabbed seats at the bar, and the bartenders were fantastic: attentive, helpful, and genuinely friendly. I ordered the steak burrito bowl (you can opt for a bowl instead of a wrap), and it was absolutely delicious. It came with pinto beans, Spanish rice, a generous portion of steak strips, and bold, satisfying flavors. Yum! I'm already looking forward to coming back. My husband had the smash burger, which he really enjoyed. We even chatted with another customer at the bar who recommended both of our dishes--and also gave a shoutout to the tacos. If you're in the area, The District Tap Downtown is definitely worth a visit. Great food, great vibes, and great people. read more

My co-workers and I were back in Indianapolis and found ourselves at District Tap twice during the week's visit. On the first evening our large group didn't have a reservation, but the team made room for us at two large high top tables. On the second visit with a reservation we found ourselves at the same tables! Both nights we have amazing service - fast, friendly, all orders delivered correctly. Both of my entrees were delicious - the steak and chicken tenders. Large portions plus sides. I was easily able to share with others, and had I been in my hometown would've had leftovers for a meal the following day. My group also shared several starters. The hummus dish was a favorite. Say yes to the fries pickles and pretzels with cheese. The wings - oof, so hot!! Beware of anything on the menu noted as hot. District Tap isn't playing around. Even my friends that enjoy spicy were surprised. Lots of interesting beers on tap, which is perfect for the menu. If you're staying in downtown Indianapolis, walking to District Tap is doable. Seated right away after a Fever game, which was a plus for a Saturday afternoon. Our server was in training but did a great job, and food came out in about 15-20 minutes. I had the Mahi Mahi tacos -- super spicy to the point I could only eat two. The seasoning was overpowering, and they were a bit dry. My partner had the Salmon Penne Rosa, which they rated 4/5 -- decent but lacking in flavor. Fries were unfortunately inedible -- rock hard. Overall, good service and no wait, but the food just didn't do it for us. We'd probably pick somewhere else next time we're downtown. read more
