I came here on a whim and I'm glad I did! Kuma's corner kind of feels like a rock concert venue turned restaurant on the inside, with lots of memorabilia in there. There's a bit of grunge aesthetic too. I opted for the patio seating on the nice day that I visited. Service worked pretty quickly and friendly. I got a mocktail to start that was cranberry, orange, and pineapple juice. It was pretty yummy. I was far more impressed by the foooood! My partner and I split a burger and Mac and cheese. The size small was $9 and was honestly huge. It was definitely enough food for two. The burger we got was also a good size, and came with a lot of shoestring onion on top. The burger was $18 but it's a 10 oz patty which is practically a better deal than most other burgers out there. I'll be back again sometime for sure! read more

My husband wanted a good burger but because I'm vegan, it needed to be a place with an option for me. After researching, I found Kuma's Corner. They have a vegan option. Convenient location. Zero proof drinks. There were some reviews about long wait times, non-toasted buns and the cost but the write up of the place itself gave me nostalgia vibes for a place called Cobra Burger in Richmond, VA so I had to try my luck. I really wanted to love this place, as I've not found anything like Cobra Burger here in Indy. When we arrived, around 6:45p on a Thursday, the patio had a good amount of people, but inside was pretty empty apart from the bar. We sat at a two top in the bar area. The music was at a pretty low volume, especially considering the amount of reviews that said otherwise. Our server was also bartender, so it initially took her a couple of minutes to come over, which is understandable. She took our order for drinks and then after bringing them back for the food. She was nice and provided good service although juggling tables and the bar, plus she was also pregnant. It took a very long time for us to get our food (close to an hour), despite three guys working the line in the kitchen, banging out burger after burger. The food arrived, hot and correct. Both my husband and I were disappointed that the reviews were right and the burger buns were not toasted. Non-toasted burger buns actually make the burgers harder to eat and less enjoyable. My burger was decent for a non-handmade vegan option; for the price my expectation is amor sophisticated/handmade creative one, but I am thankful that they had a vegan option at all. My husband thought his burger was just okay and that he's had better ones around Indy, so we probably won't be dining here again. For the size of the burger, they should bring you ample napkins without having to ask because it is very messy trying to eat them. For two burgers with fries, one small mac & cheese, and three beers (one regular and two nonalcoholic) before tip the bill was over $80. Now, if the food was top-tier fantastic, I would say fine but being that it was more middle of the road it's a bit pricey. read more

This had been on my places to try list for a while, and I was a little disappointed. The atmosphere was very good and the service made up where the food let me down. My burger wasn't cooked how I asked. But now looking back on it, the music being so loud I bet my waiter couldn't distinguish me saying medium well from medium rare but I can't even blame her. If you're looking for a good drink and a good(spicy) burger, look no further! Their margaritas are incredible!!! So delicious, made my day brighter. We had the Brujeria burger, it was big, spicy, and so flavorful!!! We also got buffalo chicken tenders and fries, they were pretty good. I expected them to be a bit spicier, even so, they had decent flavor. It's a pretty cool place, I love their artwork, it's a bit loud, but I'd go back and hang out in their patio. Service was very slow, a table was sat down and given water, they waited close to 13 minutes before they decided to leave. It was a bit of a struggle to get our servers attention for more water, a to go box, and the check. I'm not sure if it was due to a lack of employees or if it was slow. Who will sign my petition to ban burgers that are taller than what a human mouth can bite into? Anyone? Because I'm thinking of starting such a petition after eating burgers at Kuma's Corner. I have some lovely things to say about this restaurant, but first, I need to address the size of these burgers. If you could see my hands right now, you would see me holding my hands about 6 inches apart, one on top of the other. That's how tall, if not taller, the burgers were that we ordered. We got The Famous Kuma (bacon, cheddar, a fried egg, lettuce, tomato, red onion) and the Neurosis (horseradish mayo, cheddar, Swiss, caramelized onions, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, onion). With both burgers, we could not take a complete bite into them -- we had to kind of eat around them and chip away at them from different angles. I do have a small mouth, but even a person with a big mouth cannot eat a burger this size properly because it is so dang tall. What made it worse is that the bun is a pretzel bun, which is a little tough, so there's no "give," and you can't press down on the burger to make it more compact, if you get me. As far as I know, pretzel buns are standard here, and there's no substitute. I had to take my top pretzel bun off and just toss it. It was too much pretzel, too much bun. Alas, even without a top bun, my burger was still too tall to bite into properly. In conclusion: Tall burgers look pretty and make for nice photos. But they are a P.I.T.A. to eat. Please sign my petition. The ambiance, though? Perfect. All of the death metal playing over the speakers at Kuma's Corner was just what this soul needed to relax. And the artwork! There's something to look at everywhere. All of the hardcore and metal bands. I wasn't expecting to see a Boris drawing on the wall, but there you go. Do yourself a favor and visit the restroom. At least in the women's restroom, it is a tagger's paradise in there. All kinds of messages scrawled on the walls, stickers everywhere, wheatpasted fliers. I wanted to sit on the john and just look at everything. I love a good restroom at a restaurant, and this is one of the better ones in Indy. read more

The best spicy margarita in town hands down! I love bringing my kindle or a book to the bar and ordering a burger and/or french fries and a drink or two. The food is always great, and the environment at the bar is welcoming. The music is different from what I typically listen to, but is a nice change of pace and enjoyable. Came in for dinner on a Saturday about 530 and had an ok experience. (Note- I used to live in Chicago and went to the Chicago location monthly, so I do love their food.) This "biker bar" feel is great for Fountain Square neighborhood. Pros -Selection- They have a great selection of fun burgers, all named after a metal band/song. (Fun theme) - Speed- From time ordered until we had our food, was about 15 minutes, and considering how busy, not bad. - Atmosphere- The atmosphere is great here and fun teeming with music, artwork, and graffiti in bathroom. Flavor- Food has great flavor and for $20, plenty of food! Cons - Food- While quick, Burger was a bit overcooked and fries were underdone (a bit soggy?), and buns was a bit tough and stale. (They could also use coleslaw(?) as a side, as it would go perfect with many of their sandwiches.) - Service- While quick, our waiter was just eh. I had heard here that they gave smaller portions during lunch so I went during lunch-- not sure if I was supposed to ask for the lunch menu but ended up just getting the (at least what I think was) normal sized burger. Kuma's Corner has been on my list of places to try for the last couple of years. I heard you always have to wait which is why I hadn't been. I did notice that they allow you to get in line now so that's what I did, which actually worked out perfectly. When I arrived we were able to be seated right away. I really hadn't done much research so didn't know what to expect other than they have good burgers. What I didn't know is it is very heavy metal themed. Everyone is very tattooed and wearing kind of goth clothing and they were playing hard rock music which isn't really my thing but I think the people who were there probably knew it and it's their thing. The burgers appear to be named after Heavy Metal "things", not quite sure what but I'm guessing, maybe like Heavy Metal groups or something. So to the food, they have a variety of burgers (again themed) but they offer different toppings not just your usual burgers which is nice. The fries are amazing as well. It is located in Fountain Square, so parking can be a challenge. We took an uber so didn't worry about it but if you didn't just beware of that. read more

This is my first time ever trying Kuma's. I wasn't quite sure on what to order. So I found a chicken sandwich on the menu. It came with fries. I just wish it came with something else. A little bit more healthier, but that's just a personal thing. The waiter was pretty cool. He was really hip on how things tasted and what people would prefer over other dishes so he was helpful. Next time I'll ask for some on the side. My only complaint was I'm not a fan of the pretzel like bun because the bread isn't soft. Service: My girl Kathie was amazing. As a first timer, she was attentive and helped walk me through the menu. She was so good I had to speak with the manager and compliment her. Best burgers on the planet? That would be a no for me. They were packed on a Saturday night so I had high expectations. Servers were great and clearly doing their best. The food however did not deliver. The burgers were cold, pretzel buns for all burgers is not the move (in my humble opinion) and were cold/hard. Flavor was just not there and the patties were super dense. The only saving grace were the fries that weren't even that great but when compared to the burger were the only thing I really wanted to keep eating. Music inside is LOUD so be prepared for that if you want to have a conversation with the people at your table. All in all I just expected more and was left disappointed. read more

Love this place! I work very close to this location, and I have gone for drinks and food with my coworker besties. Both times, I ordered half a house salad with buffalo tenders and ranch. It is a pretty typical salad, but the best part is the sauce. They do a great job in coating their chicken with buffalo sauce and is helps add some flavor to the salad itself. My friend ordered the jalapeno poppers as an appetizer. They were very creamy and filled with chorizo. The raspberry sauce complemented it very well. My only complaint was that the breading didn't have much flavor, but the sauce helped with that for sure. The real STAR of the show is their Bloody Mary. I asked for it spicy, and they delivered! I am a Bloody Mary stan, but there's is especially tasty. I have no idea what spices they use, but that mixed with the lime and lemon they garnish it with makes it PERFECT!! At any rate, the Black Sabbath burger was still delicious and the accompanying Dark & Stormy was the best one I've ever had! I sat outside due to the extreme loud music inside, reason for the reduction if a star. I understand this is a rock themed place but I prefer my hearing not be damaged while enjoying my lunch :). Metal biker bar that puts a lot of love into their food. We came on a Saturday afternoon and the service was pretty quick and attentive. Things feel a little pricey at first glance but every single dish we received was definitely worth the price. Their cheese curds were some of the best I've ever had and they give you a big pile with a good house dipping sauce. The Sourvein was a burger I had to eat with a fork and knife because it was literally stacked too high to put a bun on top of the waffle strips, chicken tenders, bacon, cheese, and maple syrup. Fries were perfectly crispy and plentiful. A friend ordered the buffalo Mac and cheese--a splurge--and he probably received close to 3 pounds of food. It has been a while since we have been here but it is still just as good as the first time if not better. We came on a Thursday around 3 pm and it was not busy at all. The music level was fine and we were greeted and seated right away. My son and I both had the Kuma burger and they were both cooked to perfection and Huge! I ordered a side of small mac and cheese. We were greeted right away and got our food so quickly. The menu is 90% burgers so just go for that. I ordered the Hatebeak chicken sandwich and wished I got a burger. I hate doing this, but I have to for my own sanity. I used to go to the Chicago location near my house when I lived there. I have also been to this location many times, but today was not their day. Sat down and no one came to greet me until one of the servers clocking out asked if I had been helped. Shook my head and she profusely apologized. Not sure of her name, but that was the only redeeming portion of this experience. The bartender that took over was monotone, but nice. Food was not good. I know this is a burger joint, but I had the best BLT (APMD on the menu) of my life last time I visited accompanied with a terrific Caesar salad. The salad came out almost immediately which was nice, but it was as warm as pee. The croutons were beyond stale and hard to bite into. The sandwich tasted of grease that was long overdue and the tomato's I asked for looked nasty. The pretzel bun was also a no-no for me. Ambiance? It's Kuma's. If you know you know. 10/10 there. I love Kumas and certainly will be back, but whoever is running this joint needs to do some tweaking. I don't blame any of the staff, but management can't be cutting corners with the food quality when you're paying $18+ for a burger. Please emphasize your quality guys! Met some friends here for dinner on Friday night. We were greeted quickly, and got to order not too long after sitting down. The place was picking up around the time we got there, so it got a little bit loud. The place felt nice and clean. I had the neurosis burger with no mushrooms. I ordered the burger medium well, and it was cooked that way. The burger was pretty thick- as I would expect for a $19 burger (with side). The fries were crunchy. The veggies were fresh. My only complaint was the server didn't come around much when we got our food and I could have went for some more ketchup- always hate it when ketchup isn't on the table and I'm limited. Ate at Kuma for the first time in 1 1/2 - 2 years and we're sorry we visited. My husband and I both ordered burgers cooked at medium. In the past burgers were usually very pink to red at medium rare so we ordered at Medium, partly due the waitress's recommendation and the menu stated medium would have some pink throughout the burger. Burgers came and my burger had a small amount of pink but not as described in my opinion. The fries had been changed from their delicious hand cut fries to a fry found in many restaurants. The fries were not done inside. My pretzel bun was too thick and totally cold. I used to love their pretzel buns but it was terrible. Waitress offered to return burgers to the kitchen and try again. We both said yes and were hopeful of improvement. My second burger had no pink and was more done than the first burger. I tore my burger apart looking for pink and didn't find any. My husband thought the second burger was a little better. Fries were still bad inside and buns were cold. They offered to remake it a third time but it wasn't worth it to me. The Manager comped our meal and we tipped our waitress who shared things have declined since the current owner took over. Based on this visit, I won't be returning anymore which is sad since I've always told people Kuma had the best burgers in town. read more

I've been to Kuma's several times since it opened in the ever-developing fountain square area. Today after stopping for down the street for a quick nail clip for the doggo, we decided to treat ourselves with an afternoon burger. As usual the food was good. I order the 'sour vein' burger, which is actually a tasty piece of chicken atop a hefty burger patty with bacon and waffles to boot. I subbed a house salad as I was already carbing it up with the burger and a couple beers. Though the burger really was delicious, it had less flavor than the description might suggest. I didn't really taste the raspberry aioli, which is what sold me on the dish to begin with. Still, very yummy anyway. The prices have risen steadily, and do seem excessive (much like the housing in the area I suppose). I will say that at least the portions are adequate- you do get a big burger, and the salad substitute was almost large enough to justify its 5$ up charge. What earns Kuma an extra star in my book was the dog friendly attitude and staff. They were happy to sit my pitty and I on the patio, and fired up the overhead heaters so that we would be nice and toasty. The bartender even brought my lady friend (peanut the pit bull) a bowl of water for her to lap at while I ate. Peanut gives the piece of waffle I let her try an A++. Overall, very cool staff, good food, fun metal atmosphere, a tad pricey for a burger spot (20$ burgers are a hard sell under any circumstance). read more
