I literally just came back from a movie and when I explained that we just got there and didn't even do anything and that's impossible he said "I saw it. Get out of here while you still are allowed in here." What kind of threat is that? The older gentleman doesn't seem to really enjoy working the late night shifts that he started mixing me in with other folk and started getting rude. This store is close to my work so I have been here several times Amazing Ralph's store with a huge variety of produce, healthy food selections, a bakery and prepared food to-go. Large selection of fine cheese, craft beers, and fresh flowers. Basically a one-stop location for all your basic home needs. The store is nicely lit and kept clean. Plenty of parking out front. I could get pleasantly lost in the aisles, exploring the hundreds and hundreds of options. Asked a very friendly clerk where a few of the items were and was in and out with everything I needed. They offer a wide variety of products and within each family of products, they offer many different brands and options to choose from. I'm usually always able to find what I need when looking for American products. The main things I shop for here are meat, dairy, snacks and dessert. I like that they offer a variety of Ben & Jerry's flavors, my most recent favorite being Ben & Jerry's Minter Wonderland Ice Cream $4.99. Never really had a bad product from here. Ben & Jerry's always makes good ice cream and they make so many good flavors, I like that they make strong flavors, I like my ice cream like that. The consistency is just right, not too hard, not too soft. This is probably the best chain to go to to find the biggest variety of Ben & Jerry's flavors. A pint will last me awhile, probably about five sittings worth or more. Also, I've bought a lot of Ralph's generic brand items such as Kroger and Private Selection and they've all turned out to be really good. This one is located in a shopping plaza with plenty of free parking in their lot. It's super close to me so I come here sometimes when I'm looking for a specific item. It's always clean and well-organized. The inside is modern yet casual. Staff members are always friendly, however, sometimes I like to use self-checkout. While not always the cheapest option, you know that you'll always find what you need here especially if you want branded items. I like to look at their weekly deals ahead of time before arriving to help plan out what to get. I try my best to buy things here only when it's on sale or I will buy the generic brand. When they're on sale here, I usually feel like I'm getting good value for my money. Another thing I look out for when I'm in the store are the digital coupons. You should have a Ralphs account and be signed in. When you scan the QR code, the digital coupon will be added to your account and will be automatically applied at checkout. read more

I have shopped at this store for many years and always felt it was a decent supermarket. The store was clean, checkers friendly, and the prices current. During the last two or three years, I have felt that the store has gone down exponentially. The checkers are rude, the aisles are full of promotional items and almost impossible to get around; the aisles are like an obstacle course. I could put up with all of that but I cannot put up with the rudeness of the checkers. I shop at Ralph's weekly and I rarely ever see the same employees. Some of the checkers are downright rude and have absolutely no idea about good customer service. The supervisor is ridiculously inefficient and condescending. This store is less than a mile from my home but I doubt I will ever set foot there again. Ralph's needs to take a good look at their employees and teach them the basic principle of good manners. read more

Misleading price tag. They pull a fast one. Show the lower price in giant red font, show the REAL price in tiny, inconspicuous font. And mention the condition "with card" also in minuscule, sidelined font. Oldest trick in the book. If you were genuine, you'd do it the other way around: you'd put the real price in large font, put the sale price in smaller font, and mention the condition in the same font size as the sale price. Other non-like: Not a lot of trash cans laying about. I had something to throw away. Walked around the whole store til I finally found like the only trash can near the storefront. Today is a 4 star review because they had the item I needed. The store is kind of cluttered in the front when you walk in, you can find your way around pretty good. The aisles are well marked for the items on each one. I needed a special Tea for my wife called Yogi's Breathe Deep. She has been sick and wanted this tea for yesterday. It is Friday April 25th the employee who was supposed to be helping just wanted stand there and if you needed help you had to yell it and then she would come over. This is the self service isle. I questioned a price and she didn't know what was on sale in the back of the store. I looked at like what? She finally used her phone and I found it was not on sale. Tonight I went grocery shopping here at about an hour before closing and my visit was incredibly disappointing and upsetting. While I was checking out, a store employee approached me in a rude and disrespectful manner and actually had the nerve to question whether I had enough money to pay for my groceries. That comment was completely out of line, unprofessional, and frankly insulting. When I called him out on his behavior and told him he was being rude, he continued to escalate the situation by sarcastically questioning me again. His attitude was dismissive and confrontational, rather than apologetic or helpful. Later, when I asked for assistance unlocking a case to purchase alcohol and peroxide, he sighed loudly, making it clear he was annoyed. He then told me he didn't have the keys--again, with no attempt to be courteous or offer to find someone who could help. This level of customer service is unacceptable. No one should be treated this way while simply trying to buy groceries. Ralph's needs to seriously evaluate the professionalism and training of its staff, especially those interacting directly with customers. I hope management addresses this issue so no one else has to experience what I did tonight. read more

Yet AGAIN I was having an issue with the wretched Ralph's app so I asked the clerk for help (who oddly wears a mask) and he quipped, "SCAN THE CARD ON YOUR APP!" I opened my wallet looking for the CC I normally use for groceries and he snapped, "NO NOT A CREDIT CARD!" I asked, "do you mean like a physical plastic membership card?" He snapped, "NO! The card on your app!" I asked, "so like a CC that's associated with my app??" He finally then explained, "NO!! Open the app and tap the 3 lines up top and find the rewards card!" I replied, "ohhhhh ok, thanks, you meant that I need to scan a DIGITAL CARD in the app!" He said, "YES THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING!" Not sure why he had to be so belligerently difficult on purpose when he could have explained it simply, knowing I'm having the same issue as many others!! The Ralph's on Brookhurst along with the parent company Kroger has terrible customer service. I purchased a gift card that had been tampered with and asked the night supervisor to reimburse me. He began shaking his head no before I even finished my question. So I wrote to the corporate office. I received a return email with a case number and a phone number to call. I bought a gift card here to give as a gift. When my friend went to use the gift card it had nothing on it. I understand people are stealing from gift cards but the cashier pulled it out from under the registers so I thought it would be safe. I called to talk to the manager and an associate asked why. I told her about the gift card. She put me on hold. Then said the manager told her there is nothing I can do. I said okay can I talk to the manager. She put me on hold and said they said again there is nothing they can do. I think its horrible to make an associate have these conversations. I asked for the manager and I should be able to talk to the manager. Even if they cant get my money back I wanted to give them a head up to look at the other gift cards. This Ralph's just sucks. Three out of the last five times I've been there, they have overcharged me for merchandise. Never a single apology for the inconvenience. Also, although this is not a self bagging store, I never get an acknowledgment or a thank you for bagging my own groceries. The checkout staff there really just isn't friendly in any way. The self check out lines...either one is always closed or they don't work properly, and the attendant is always irritated to have to work with you. After shopping there since 1997, I think I'm going to take this Ralph's out of my rotation among Trader Joe's and Costco. read more

Kroger and especially this Ralph's used to be my goto grocery in this area. I walked into a toxic garbage dump today (ambiance). I was told I couldn't pay for my toothpaste and OTC antacid with my cart full of groceries. They have an entire aisle sealed off because of theft. Really? Toothpaste is locked up. I talked to the manager and he was rude and ambivalent. When I offered the suggestion that they lock up only the problem items instead of doing the lazy thing of locking an entire aisle, including toothpaste, he just walked away and told me nothing was going change. I have been a loyal Kroger and Ralph's customer for decades. This is the kind of attitude that tells me Kroger is in a tailspin. They're spiraling into the trash heap because they won't think about how their very real theft problem can be implemented without great inconvenience to their customers. Their meat department put items out on sale and if the sale price is not on the package even though you grabbed from the sale rack/bin the guy at checkout won't honor it. Even though I grabbed 2 of the same thing & they always treat you like you're about to steal the food!
