Unfortunately this store keeps disappointing me. A few months ago found bread covered in mold and the recommendation was to always check for mold before buying it as it happens frequently. Just yesterday I returned some Kroger cheese completely covered in mold after 2 week of the purchase and still with 2 months of shelf-life. I've got a fresh replacement and when got home found some mold on it as well! This Ralphs has a great selection and nice staffers except i cant find my favorite plain ground turkey chub any more.. Try the catfish nuggets rollem in corn meal and some spices ( maybe coarse pepper, garlic& onion powder, basil, parsley and a touch of oregano and cayenne...) and fry em slow in some canola oil. I get them often on sale now for 9. 99 for a 3lb bag. i just got no preservatives lunch meat 299 a package. If you follow the sales and stock up you can do really well. I get that 12 or 24 pack of 1000 sheet scott tissue when its on sale and save lots. They are getting more and more organics in too. read more

This Ralphs on Harvard/Main has wonderful customer service and sale items are usually in stock. They will try to adjust a price on a substitute if the sale item is out of stock. This is my neighborhood grocery store but I'm going to have to find another store. Every single time I go here - week after week - the milk on the shelf is just a few days away from the expiration date. Especially the organics - they have several brands of organic milk, all expired. Also, there is a specific type of refrigerated dip that I like to buy and all on the shelf were a good 3-4 weeks PAST the expiration date. I emailed the store 2 or 3 times before they finally took care of the problem. Terrible. Also, the self-checks here are ridiculous. You scan an item, place it in the bagging area, then the computer says to place it in the bagging area and freezes as if you have done something wrong. You then have to flag down an employee to adjust the computer. If you are going to save money by having the customers wait on themselves, at least have decent registers. read more

This Ralph's is ok. I come here mostly because it's so close to where I live and because it's significantly cheaper than Albertson's, especially if you are enrolled in their rewards program. But service can be a hit-or-miss (mostly a miss). In my opinion, most of the workers I've encountered seem like they'd rather be anywhere but here...understandable I guess, but it's your place of employment at the end of the day. I silently pray every time I go through the self-check out that I don't get a computer error that says "Assistance Needed" because 9 times out of 10 the person who comes to "help" me acts like it's the biggest hassle in the world. read more

This grocery store rocks! I have two personal favorite cashier ladies (will update with their names late) who are always so sweet and friendly. I come to this Ralphs because of how great their service is!! They always have the freshest fruit (though a little bit pricey) and the freshest baked goods. I love the brownies!!! The stores is always super organized cleaned and have lovely displays. I love love love this Ralphs. I especially want to point out that I came here tonight and forgot my card, and only had $11 in cash on me, so I told my cashier (Esperanza, M) that I would have to take some items off. She said don't worry about it and discounted my order so that I could keep everything!!! That's seriously going above and beyond. I love this store so much!!!! read more

Horrible service! Went in only for their sale items. Even called ahead and butcher verified the price for shrimp. Had the weekly paper, confirmed all the sale prices on the shelf, and even printed out my "list" from their website to prove it. Yet NONE of the sale prices came through, and when I took it up with the "manager" he called me a liar! Said that he had never seen a list like my downloaded one, so I was not entitled to the sale prices!! Of course I called main office after this, and now three days later that too has gone nowhere. These guys are professional crooks who lie, cheat, scheme and connive to rip you off and since most people do not check their receipts they usually get away with it. Beware of the cashier named Ronald. He will over charge you or screw up your transaction in some way. And when you ask him why he charged you twice or why he ignored your request for cash back, he always shrugs his shoulders and protests that it's not him, he had nothing to do with it, it's the machine's fault, etc. I suspect he doesn't know how to use the register system properly. They need to find a job for this guy that doesn't include handling other people's hard earned money. read more

Freaking horrible service. I'm in line and the cashier (Mark) didn't speak to me or even look my way. He just began ringing up my groceries, blurted out an amln amount and continued to look as uninterested as he possibly could. After I paid, he gave me my receipt without even mumbling out as much as a "goodbye have a nice day, or anything." Oh but he was awful courteous to the white customer behind me greeting him with, "How are you doing today sir?" I'll NEVER shop at this Ralph's again. I had the worst service at a grocery store I have ever had at this location sadly Not by one person but two. There was a shopping cart full of discounted bakery and I thought Since I was holding a class that morning I would grab something for my students. I picked something out and a customer actually let me know they need to market down by the girl in the coffee area who works in the store too. she was helping a guest with coffee so I asked if I could leave the cake on the counter since I need to grab a couple more things and I'll be back in a second and she very rudely told me to put it back in the cart. I said I wanted to purchase it and if I placed it in the cart someone else might take it. I carried it with me and when I came back she discounted it but was very rude like I inconvenienced her. It was a very poor experience so anyway I went to go check out and the cashier was super friendly super nice today only one that was nice. the ady in for me was having an issue and she needed some cigarettes and the cashier was calling for somebody to come over. A lady I assume was a manager I'm not quite sure she came over and I did whatever she needed in it the lady still needed to be rung up so the cashier asked the manager can you help her cause she had a line and the manager rudly waves her off and says I can't help her I'm too busy and she walked away I've been in customer service for a long time and I could not believe the way that she treated that lady. So this rating is strictly for the deli where you get chicken, salads, etc. I have never actually shopped in the store since I don't live in Irvine, Irvine is where I work. We were having a potluck last Friday with very little notice. I knew I didn't have time to make something myself and wanted to get some fried chicken. Well KFC isn't open at 8am to get chicken so that was out. Then I thought about the grocery stores since I know many of them do chicken in their delis. I didn't want to get the chicken the day before and bring it cold. I wanted it to be hot, or at least fresh from that day. So I googled grocery stores near work and found this Ralphs. I called on Thursday and asked for the deli but no one picked up. I called back and let the girl know that no one had answered and she said she would page them. A gentlemen answered the phone, I wish I had gotten his name. He was very very nice and I explained that I wanted 25 pieces of chicken to be picked up at 11am on Friday. He took my order, my name and phone number and assured me it would be ready. I went in at 11 on Friday morning and true to his word the chicken was ready and piping hot! The same gentleman was the one who helped me I believe and he was just as nice in person. I was in and out of there in 5 minutes. Oh, and the chicken was sooo good! It was a huge hit and I only had 4 pieces leftover :) So thank you for helping me with my potlock Ralphs Deli!! I will come back at lunch some other time! read more

I went to buy my regular drink at the new Starbucks inside of Ralph's. The barista Moe made the best mocha I've had so far. Another barista was working the register and she was very pleasant and friendly. The condiments bar was clean and neat. Sales manager was very rude. Never going to this Ralphs again. Glacier water vending machine outside this Ralphs was not accepting one dollar bills. So i asked one of the cashier if she has some quarter coins or quarter coin roll. She said i don't have and check with her manager who is standing at another cashier counter. When i asked him for coins, he also told that there are no coins left. Then i told him that the water vending machine outside is accepting only coins. Then he rudely replied " Aren't you seeing in this box...there are no coins left. Go out" I felt very bad with his rude and disrespectful behavior...and decided never go to this store again. read more

OMFG THIS ONE IS FOR THE BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So okay I came here for a salad fix as this is the only place I am able to find this dressing that my family absolutely loves. I go pass the rotisserie chicken table and notice there's a ton of chicken left. I hit up the salad dressing first to make sure that they have it because if they didn't then we would have to change up what we are going to be eating. So I don't see the dressing but something told me to ask for assistance to see if some may be hiding in the back. Help comes and assists us and sure enough I score on not one but THREE bad boys!!! Scored... Next! So I grab all the other salad fixings from lettuce to toppers and figured I will get my chicken last that way it will still be warm. So it didn't take me more than a few minutes to get everything for my salad and as I am walking up to get my chicken, I almost flip the fcuk out because the entire table is EMPTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF there was just like more than 10 a couple minutes ago. The entire table was wiped out. So I walk towards the cashier to see if someone had bought it all - I mean will someone really buy all those chicken??? I didn't see one person buying chicken and I'm sure if someone did, I would've saw them as literally it only took me so long to gather the other stuff for my salad. So I decide to go to the deli and see if maybe they took the chicken to the back as it was around 915ish. I wait for about a minute and then this dude comes out from the back and he is eating something. As he's licking his fingers and hasn't said anything to me, I decided to ask if he knows where the chicken went. He looks at me and says "THEY ARE ALL GONE - YOU ARE TOO LATE!" I'm like dude, I just saw like 10 a few minutes ago and there's noone that came here to buy all of those chickens. He's like "WELL I SAID THEY ARE ALL GONE" and begins licking his fingers again. So I walk away before something comes out of my mouth that I'm going to regret and realize even if they had chicken I'd probably vomit at the fact that he touched it after he was licking his damn fingers. He was probably stuffing his face in the back with all the damn chicken that went missing. Like come the fcuk on - what are you going to do with all that chicken?????? So as I'm checking out, I thought maybe I should make a complaint to a manager of some sort. I experience some problems with the self check out machine as it was acting retarded on me. The "manager" comes to assist me and his attitude wasn't all that either and figured it wasn't worth my time reporting it to someone who is probably just like his staff!! So ya - this is pretty disgusting to know. This is my local supermarket, too, and I'll probably resort to going elsewhere - ESPECIALLY FOR ANYTHING FROM THE DELI. I get it - it may have been closing but to come out from the back licking your damn fingers and eating on the job is just unethical. Worst experience at a Ralph's. I arrived here at 11 a.m. and the person who was in charge of the floral and balloons section was nowhere to be found. The lady in the bakery section was nice enough to call for her or times however she never came. I asked for assistance at the front, the bagger Noel came over and took my order. I told him I'd be right back because I needed to pick up some food for my son's birthday party. When I return the lady who was missing in action asked me if I needed help with something and I told her I believe you're working on my order. She said "Oh for the 30 balloons? There people ahead of you it'll take half an hour." I told her I was here first and had been waiting since 11. She didn't care. I left. So inconsiderate. read more

i love this ralphs. it used to be open 24 hours and i would go grab some food at like 4 am sometimes but now its opened till 1 or 2am. this ralphs doesnt have awesome manager specials like the one on university but its none the less a great ralphs. when chips are on sale, stock up. dont just get one bag or two, get 10 because you just dont know when it'll go on sale again. read more

For the longest time I have gone to Trader Joe's to shop until I came across this grocery store. This Ralph's location simply has outstanding customer service and I've known that for a while but yesterday I asked for the name of one of the employees who has been really above and beyond what is expected in great customer service and his name is Sam. I feel that if I take the time to complain about something I also should take the time to write a praise and this young man definitely deserves it. There have been a few others as well but I do not know their names. Because of the customer service this is the location I return to. Highly recommend!!! read more

yah it's ralphs so no great grocery deals - when i do come here (usually because i'm too lazy to drag myself over to an asian market or trader joe's), i just go for whatever is on sale unless i'm desperate for certain items. But the five stars go to that incredibly enthusiastic and friendly woman at the self-checkout line who cheerfully gives high-fives and dispenses words of encouragement when things go awry at the self-checkout (and they do). gosh, i wish she could have been my PE teacher. read more

I just love this store! It's so close to my home and office. It's easy to stop by on my way home. I like the deli and sushi. Everything is fresh and clean. I also love the produce department. There is this really sweet bagger named Christian R that has helped me several times in the past. He is such a nice boy, smiles when he see's me and asks how I'm doing. The management staff is also helpful, especially Darren and Espy. I actually live closer to another Ralphs, but will always stay true to this location. read more

I recently moved here from LA and I live in a beautiful area in the Back Bay but I had enjoyed coming to this Ralph's because it was quite big and I found a lot of items tonight tonight I was devastated and if someone wants to contact me I will leave my email when I went to self check out there was a very rude Asian woman older and I've seen her there a few times and I have my water and I didn't even have a cart. I had a little basket with some items in a 24 pack of water I was struggling to carry it and I put it on the thing to have it scanned and I asked or should I do it and she said yes very abruptly so I scanned it then I put it aside and. I scanned my items and when I went to scan and an apple I didn't have it The right code so I asked her and she said very abruptly 4013 and she tap the screen so I assume she rang it him so when I put the apple aside she started yelling but you didn't do it you didn't do it and then I said stop yelling at me! and I said please stop yelling at me and I took my items and I went to a regular checker she followed me and she kept yelling at me Stop leave the store your yelling at me. and I am the customer she was yelling and I said stop yelling then a customer saw me and I told your employee please stop yelling at me on the customer and you shouldn't treat me like that so this other woman said you're yelling at her what do you mean she works here. Never written a review about a grocery store because let's be honest. They all have groceries and they're all pretty much the same, but the employees here are so friendly! This is a well-run Ralphs. Recently, corporate must have instituted a policy of customer-first because the check out stand at this location is very attentive. I can see and really appreciate the changes. For example, when a check-out artist is not busy, they wait in front of their lane and ask you if you are ready to check out and if so, help you immediately. Great service! This Ralph's is always well stocked and well managed compared to the other Ralph's south of Irvine. They also carry specialty items that are usually only available in certain areas (i.e. flaming hot Lays chips). I usually go in the late afternoons or at night but the cashiers are always helpful and friendly to me. Other reviews seem to indicate that morning service may not be the best.
