Honestly, I would have never thought to eat at mother's market! But I'm so glad I did. Not only was my breakfast plate delish but super cheap considering it's an organic market. It was very filling and with tip was under $10. Mother's Market in Irvine is my second-favorite grocery store after Whole Foods, but really kind of tied with Sprouts! The frozen and fresh organic berries, cherries, pomegranate seeds, and other healthy fruits are fairly priced and always readily available, which is perfect, because I tend to not eat enough healthy fruits like these and Whole Foods doesn't have as nice a selection as Mother's Market does in my opinion. The smoothie bar is also super awesome! There are also amazing $6 burritos made in-house during the day and I got their grass-fed carne asada with rice, beans, and cheese the other day and it was totally a great deal. The Mamma Chia drinks packed with chia seeds are also about $1 cheaper here than they are at Whole Foods, which is great. Lastly, they have black garlic here still in the whole garlic plant and it's amazing for health. The flower bouquet selection here is small, but they offer quality arrangements and flowers. I went with a light pink/blush bouquet, that was gorgeous and perfect for a summer look. The store itself also has a cafe and smoothie station. This store also carries items ranging from foods to beauty products, where you can find things that are organically made and more environmentally friendly. I bought 2 filets which were 2/$25 advertised on the price tag where I grabbed them. After working a 10 hour shift I paid and went home. I didn't realize but they charged me $20 each filet. I called to see if they would fix the error and they told me bring the steaks back and receipt. I live in LA so that's not happening I work in Irvine once a month. By the time I bring the steaks back out of the fridge and get the correct price of the store in LA which is far from me...I don't want the steaks anymore at that point. I used to love Mothers's Market cafe.We used to go very often. We came back after a few months and were surprised with the menu changes and the service was so bad. Very rude!!!!!! We felt so uncomfortable, we order coffee and came out cold and when we asked for hot coffee the waitress told us that it was cold because it was just standing there in a pot for hours so she didn't bring us more hot coffee, they took like 30 minutes to take our order, we asked for honey instead of syrup and they were so annoyed and rude that we just wanted to finish eating and leave. There were two waitresses and both were very rude. It was a stressful and bad experience. What a shame, I am never coming back to this location I used to love. Felt totally unwelcome. read more

This might be a hot take but I think Mother's Market is superior to Erewhon (and at less than half the price!). As someone who grew up in Irvine, I have such fond memories of coming here, and it never disappoints. I love all of their offerings, and though some of the goods may be pricier than other chain markets, I do think their produce is fresher than most others you'll find at grocery stores. My favorite is their juice and smoothie bar, and I also do love dining here when I can. I came by on a Saturday for lunch by myself (love a little solo date moment). I'm a sucker for the Chicken Pesto Sandwich, and I got the Aloha Goddess juice (which is basically a greens juice with pineapple). Chef's kiss!! The eliminated many of the great dishes that regular customers had enjoyed for years and they added a bunch of boring meat items. Although prices are comparable to, if not higher than, those at Whole Foods, its proximity to my sister's place makes it a convenient choice. They offer a good selection of grab-and-go bites and supplements. My personal favorite is their electric berry lemonade, which provides a refreshing boost along with numerous health benefits. Mother's Market is a hit or miss depending on which location you go to. I had always gone to the HB location before I moved recently and never had any issues there. Our experience at the Santa Ana location was awful (the employee at the kitchen had no clue what he was doing), so when we came to this location in Irvine, it was a breath of fresh air. It's very well kept, and the employee actually knew what she was doing. I've tried about 3 items from their kitchen now. The wild and free bowl was a lot better than I expected, but towards the end, I got very sick of it and don't think I ever want to order it again. The panini was delicious! The tacos were very meh. They were dry, and the meat was not fresh. It's quite pricey so I make sure I take advantage when they offer BOGO or during restaurant week. read more
