This review is mainly for the lack of checkout cashiers. During rush hour, there was only one lane open moving at a snails pace. I did self checkout but had an issue with an incorrectly priced item and was told I had to see cashier in regular line to resolve the issue. I ended up standing 25 more min in line just to get my refund. If management reads this, please have more lines open during busy times. read more

I went to the meat counter and found an item that was to expire on the next day. I asked if they could discount the item I would buy it today. I was told they cannot discount on demand. I was asking not demanding. When the food expires it must be tossed out. Is Ralphs is the business of selling food or tossing food? I will go elsewhere in the future. read more

Ever since moving to Pasadena from OC in mid 2022, I have frequented this location and the one on the West side of Old Town (on Colorado), and both locations are fantastic. While online you will find all kinds of silly nicknames for this location, such as "Stabby Ralph's" and also "the Mistake on Lake", the reality is that such reputation is unfounded. I've been here at all times of the day (and even as late as 11pm at night on weekdays) and I always feel safe, do what I need to do and get home just fine. Everyone in the staff, including the night security guard, are friendly, polite, professional and helpful. They also have REAL discounts, unlike Vons. VONS has a slight markdown on things that will expire in 2 to 3 days, whereas Ralph's has a SIGNIFICANT markdown, sometimes 50%, 60% or even 80% for products that are still fresh but you should consume in 2 to 3 days, so for the value and also for the quality, I think Ralph's is better. read more

This store SHOULD have at least 1 or (2 cashiers depending on how busy) checking out customers in the mornings, NOT EVERYONE wants to use Self checkout! There were no regular lines open due to a call out, so I was told by Jocelyn. I feel this location is very tight and barely enough room to push a shopping cart through the aisles. I wish the self check out section allowed you to input your phone number versus scanning your membership code on your phones. Not going to lie, the app is a little hard to navigate around. I'm talking about the La Canafa store. The Carts are dirty and old there is trash in most of them. The store is dirty. The turntable when you checkout is always wet with who knows with what , you have to ask the checker to wipe it off. Produce scraps all over the floor bins empty. Shelves are very high and products are not brought forward. This Ralph is in a high end neighborhood it looks like it's in a 3rd world country. Who ever is the manager should be fired and the corporate should remold we deserve better. I would rather pay more and go to a clean upscale market than continue to shop at Ralph's very sad I have shopped at this Ralph's since it opened I have watched it go downhill for many years. I have shopped at all the Ralph's in Pasadena and this is the only one where I can go in, shop and be left alone. The employees are just great. Very professional, kind and not rude. Which is not the case in other stores. I don't know how a large store manages to be nice and friendly when it's constantly busy but they do. The Ralph's on Colorado is small and except for a handful of employees they are pretty rude and snobby. There are a lot of homeless at this location but they don't bother anyone. I am happy to buy some food and make sure they get some food. God Bless them. read more

Dirty, unsafe, poorly stocked, poorly labeled prices, can't find store people l, even checkout cashiers!...and what REALLY irritated me were customers looking into my basket and right up next to me at the register and commenting on items I was buying as if it were something they had the right to do! Put a sign up "Do NOT rudely comment on someone else's items dejected for purchase!" It's not anyone else's business. We are yet the Soviet Union or have food rations! It is a turn off and a bad experience! The parking lot is disgusting. The clientele is sketchy and the staff know how unsafe this store is! Go to Hastings Ranch or down to Pavillions on Lake! Have gone a here many times for groceries. Ttoday we needed help with flowers for engagement photos and the flower section person who helped us went above and beyond and gave us a bridal bouquet worth so much more than they charged. She was caring and friendly and made the whole process easy, she went in the back to get some extra flowers put in wedding colors and made a corsage. He gave me a couple samples and answered all my questions about the possibilities. He deserves an "atta-boy" or whatever you do to reward excellent service to your customers. His nametag said Nico. This Ralph's is not a good one. Their selection of various products are limited and quite a few items that all/any major chain store should carry , they do not have. I had my cart filled with a few things and when I looked for my last item , they don't even carry it at all. I admit that this really upset me as it wasted my time and I just left the cart with all the other stuff in some aisle and left the store and went to another store altogether where they had everything that I needed. The arrangement and labeling of the aisles are not good (it's almost like walking through a maze). For example, items that one would expect to be in the baking goods aisle, could be anywhere. There's also the oddest cordoned off area just behind the produce section, staffed with someone who actually monitors the area. Speaking of the produce area, it's often understocked or runs out quickly in certain items. This store prefers that customers use self check out (of course, so there can be less 'employed' staff). There are so few staff around, out on the floor, that there's no one available to ask questions of (if need be). This location does have a Starbucks inside also. read more

COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. Some of the staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open and available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my groceries from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is pretty big. Some parking spots are smaller than others. Pros: 1. Convenient machines! I just discovered that they have a handy machine to duplicate keys, and more importantly a DMV machine if you forgot to get your registration sticker (you can pay with credit card and get the official sticker instantly) - way better than going to the actual DMV or even AAA and lining up for hours. I visit this store often but had a bad visit today because of the restroom policy put in place by manager Linda. I'm a senior man and ask several staff members for the code to use the restroom. They said someone would have to come and let me into the restroom but they couldn't give me a code because of a new policy. I had to stop shopping because I had to leave to go use the restroom. The funny thing is this was not the First time. For the third time the lamb I purchased was rotten. We ended up using chicken instead a very disappointing indeed. When I took the leg of lamb back the next day, the manager or assist would initially refund my account. Worse yet the lamb was discounted from $69 to $46 , which meant they must have known the meat was rotten . They discounted anyway for public to be purchased at a discount . Came here at around 10pm on a Monday night and wanted to grab a few groceries. In the 20 minutes I was here, I saw probably half the staff not wearing masks or not wearing it above their noses. And several patrons were walking around maskless and socializing with employees. I've seen better masking practices in OC so I really expected better from Pasadena, but there was really no enforcement of masking. Hilariously a speaker went off at 10pm to announce that staff should clean their stations and wash their hands. This is an airborne virus and these hand washing practices should've existed prior so it doesn't instill much confidence in Ralph's guidelines. I get this pandemic has been long and masking for hours can be uncomfortable, but it's ridiculous during a surge for everyone to be so lax. Going to avoid this grocery store and on Monday night, their shelves are pretty much empty to begin with. read more

She has a line of people waiting to check out, while a customer asks about her kids in the middle of the walking path preventing others from getting around them. Meanwhile if your at the opposite end of the plastic bags and you ask for her help to get a bag (politely) she'll tell you, "sure they're over there." as in get it yourself, and continue to talk with customer. I try to avoid this store because of its chronically poor customer service. Today I stopped by on my way home from the gym and it did not disappoint. Almadelia was rude, dismissive, and came short of calling me a liar when I told her a certain item was on sale (even when I showed her a pic I had taken of the sale tag). She allowed the line to back up, insisting that I find it on the app (the app which never works) and finally gave in after I showed her the pic for the fourth time. She stood there and watched me load my own groceries without lifting a finger, again making other customers wait. When I asked her to help speed things along, she crossed her arms and stared at me. I figured there has to be cameras in the liquor and medicine areas but I guess you need a camera in the diapers and soda/drinks aisles too. Taking a stroll down each aisle is like an adventure. I just needed one can so the layout is different than what I have seen. The produce area seems neat and tidy. Some of it isn't so fresh looking and some of it is ok. I saw these two guys asking one another if these steaks look alright. The steak I saw them holding looks worse than a guy that is holding a black eye. On a Wednesday evening in January, I stopped by to pick up something for dinner. The parking lot didn't look too busy. I was browsing in the bakery area and seen people with clearance stuff in their carts. I followed my eyes to butcher area and I seen a cart of Pacifica brand chicken broth on clearance.50 cents and expires end of March 2021. They also had cart of various spices $1.50 and bag of chocolates of Hershey brand. Then I noticed a cart of tomato soup progresso brand .50 cents.
