Start off with.... I am a kind and simple person so for me to write bad reviews are hard... As you can read most of my reviews are good... The bad ones are bad... This Ralph's seem nice however when I checked out the cashier said my card got declined ....did it twice...decline....used my debit card good to go... Called bank and they said the card went through pending... 4 times I go back in Ralph's by this time I dropped my bag off in car... I go in and ask the cashier and he looks lost... Then go to the manager and tell the story the manager says we need to see your bank statement. Wow ok that's it ... Not wanting to know which cashier....to see the receipt or anything .. I respond with...this transaction just happened... She said well I can't help you I need to see the statement. Customer service explain the protocol talk to the cashier be apologetic ...show you care rather than just saying I need to see the statement ... I live 45 minutes away and didn't seem like the manager cared. If the transaction goes though best believe I will write another review... Bring your own bags. It will start charging for the bags effective 1/1/13. It was about 4 p.m. on a Thursday. My daughter wrote a grocery list for me, and I am not a mother who would disappoint. I felt that my life was in danger here as I was frantically looking for a parking space with 20 other people doing the same- all of whom were on the edge from the day's work. I've seen Ralphs larger than this one. This one, however, has more and better selections. Even the bakery section had decadent professional grade cakes as opposed to the cakes that definitely scream out "grocery store brand." I had the marinated shrimp from the bakery, which wasn't good at all. But I got a pretty decent deal on baking items, i.e., flour, butter, Crisco. This Ralph's is never well-stocked. Without exaggeration, I always make a second trip somewhere else to finish my shopping. The reason I go there? It's right around the block, and the prices for meats and swordfish are good. That said, I often wait at the fish counter a long time before anyone shows up. They are doing me a favor???? In addition, there is a woman who works in the deli, who is extremely unhappy. She hates the job. She's sour. The other day, I asked her (politely) if she heard me correctly (w/ my mask), and she was SARCASTIC. She's an older woman, and I won't report her, but she's extremely unpleasant. the STARBUCKS inside this Ralph's. They repeatedly make "weak" drinks, and I am over it. I don't think these Starbuck's employees at Ralph's are entirely trained. The other day, I asked for a hot chocolate with one extra pump of chocolate. Whatever they gave me tasted like COFFEE, with a pump of chocolate. Yuk. I went back and they did not want to redo the drink. Seriously? I spend a fortune in this store. I calmly explained to the young girls, "This is really bad business. I am here every day. Starbucks has a reputation. I'll never come back" Finally she remade the drink and it was WEAK, again. Another (stand alone) Starbucks in the same shopping center consistently makes great drinks. It was convenient, however, to get a drink inside Ralph's but never again. Lastly, I HAVE met nice employees in this store. I didn't want to leave the impression that everyone is awful. Not the case. But the store could seriously improve. read more

My roommate and I call this the "good Ralph's" because the other one near us is gross (on Vineland and Magnolia). So I was even more of a fan once this Ralph's opened a fresh juice and smoothie bar in the produce section. Get one of the pre-designed juices or smoothies OR design your own. The Power Play sample was good. I got a 24oz juice. I chose a cucumber base. I added watermelon, mint, lemon and lime. Total was less than $8 but it is one of the freshest and most delicious juices I've had. Better than nearby Jamba Juice for sure. read more

As good as any other Ralphs! I would say though that the convenience of parking here is not all that great. Because Ralphs is in a bustling plaza, parking on ground is difficult to snatch, especially because there are pedestrians and cars everywhere. I usually go to the lower level (be careful of the slope because cars maybe be going the other direction and unexpected speeds!) Carts need to be refurbished and cleaned. I will give props to the produce section. It is well maintained and restocked often. read more

I went to Ralphs this evening and saw the guy cleaning the shelves in the fish department and putting the fish on the floor(also took a picture). Not sure of the health codes but I'm sure that's not where it goes unless it's ment to be thrown out. Supper disappointed because I often shop and buy the "floorfish" from this location. Also the last time I was here the gentleman in the meat department told me they didn't sell smoked salmon. This isn't true. I found it today by the soy meats 10' away from his section. Used to come to this Ralph's until recently when I realized there were very strange people walking around clearly looking to steal and made me feel unsafe. A couple which appeared to be homeless followed me around the store and kept eyeing my purse! The aisles are clean and the shelves are full. The deli section is great. And I love how there's multiple self-check out stands. The only issue I have is the parking lot. Been coming to this Ralph's for 14 years. I work late at an animal emergency hospital, and frequently come in during the wee hours of the night to pick up dog food and a snack on my way home. Since l commute long distances via public transit, I often have my backpack with my computer. This has never been an issue before. Tonight I was told by the rude security guard at the entrance that I would have to leave my bag up front. When I asked why after so long coming to this Ralph's this was an issue, and brought up the lack of staffing to properly watch over my personal property, he just shrugged and said that was their policy. So I left. It is unfortunate to be treated so shabbily, especially after many years of patronage. Next time I'll order it on Amazon, and not have to hassle with someone else's power trip over nothing. read more

I love the people who work here. They are extremely friendly and helpful. This location is clean and well organized. However, What I really dislike is how they got rid of the regular service check out and opened up more selfcheck out stations. Do you have any idea what it is like to shop with an unruly toddler, scan and bag groceries all at the same time? It's panic attack inducing. This isn't family friendly at all. The regular lines are long as hell. If I wanted to bag my own groceries, I'd go to food4less. It's the staff that keeps me here. While it is an upscale, well-organized, and usually clean store, I usually avoid shopping here (despite living across the street). The reason is that the staff is almost uniformly rude and unhelpful. The newer Ralph's in Sherman Oaks is exactly the opposite, so it makes me think that the problem isn't the company itself but the management and employees of this particular store. Everyone seems depressed and very put-out when interacting with customers. Last night, I asked for $2 in quarters for laundry as I was paying for my groceries. The employee reacted as if I asked to borrow her car. It's a pretty reasonable request, actually! Honestly, if you shop here and require any assistance, you'll be treated like a total pest. We did a grocery pickup and pulled up at our scheduled time of 11am and check in via the app. We saw cars pull in after us and immediately get their groceries brought out to them which was a bit strange but no big deal. Then after 30 minutes of waiting I asked the employee who brought out the groceries if we were up next he said yes be right out with your order but instead we waited another 30 minutes and received no groceries. Our allotted grocery pickup time had now passed 11am-12pm... and we were still sitting in our car waiting. Dozens of cars came in pulled up next to us and received their groceries while we waited. I called the store multiple times, no one answered. Finally a woman who was in charge of pick up orders answered and said "yeah were busy." I was trying to avoid going into the store due to covid but I walked up to see what was going on with our groceries and was greeted by a manager. He said "I don't know what's going on sorry." And that was it! I said can I speak to the person in charge of pickup orders and he said oh yes no problem she will be out right now with your order. We waited and waited and waited. Now coming up on two hours! Two hours! If anyone is unfamiliar with the grocery pickup it normally takes 5-15 minutes to get your groceries. I asked the grocery employee who came out once again to give groceries to other cars who had just pulled up "where are our groceries?" and he said "oh yeah I think ur order was postponed you got the call right? I said I don't know What you're talking about where is the manager that said she would be coming out? He said oh yeah she'll be right out, and I'll go get your groceries. Well he never came back out... another grocer came out so I called again to the store and at this point we have been waiting 2 hours and 20 minutes. I called and the woman who is in charge of the grocery pickup answered. I said what is going on? The other manager said you would come out and give me my groceries. She said I don't know , I've been at lunch. Really? Is this how you treat your customers? So after another 15 minutes a different employee (not the manager) brought our order out , we were missing multiple items. 2 hours and 30 minutes later! No effort to make it right was made by ANY of the employees. The "managers" that I spoke with had no idea what was going on and couldn't care less because one of them was "at lunch" and I never received any kind of customer service. And just as a follow up... I called the next day to see if they can make it right and to find out why I had to wait two hours and 30 mins for our groceries and the same woman answered. Her explanation was we were busy and your order was big and I was eating lunch and maybe you're order got lost I don't know. And then after I asked over and over and over again for some kind of compensation for waiting so long and spending $200 on my order she said oh yeah you'll get $40 credit. I never received that credit. Straight up lies. Absolutely horrible customer service, by the employees, manager, and will never be coming back. They obviously don't value their customers and id much rather spend my money where I'm valued. read more

We're done! Never again. Went to check-out, no checkouts were open. We were told to 'use the self-serve checkout'. We did, and didn't know the codes for the veggies, fruit and other items that did not have a bar code. The manager tried to help but it didn't work either. We dumped our stuff out of OUR bags back into the cart and left. Again, we will NOT be back. Management is just so-so. And getting worse over the years. Plus the jobbers are rude. Ralph's healthy multigrain croissants...beyond great, are amazing! If I could give bakery dept mgr Amy, Ketty, baker Susan...and the croissants 10 stars, I would! I love French croissants, but now that I've been buying the healthier version, it's hard to go back. They are loaded with good, old fashioned healthy grains (partial list: sunflower seeds, rye flour, cracked wheat, barley flakes, rolled oats, flaxseeds, wheat bran, malted barley flour, cracked buckwheat, oats, millet, sesame seeds, rye and barley flakes topping...on and on). It's not loaded with butter, so it's light and flakey at the same time, less guilty pleasure. Nor tons of chemical preservatives like others, such a nice find. It's versatile any time, my main staple, not only perfect for breakfast (eggs, ham, cheese, sausage, etc.), but for lunch, light dinner, late night snack (tuna, shrimp salad, deli meats, cheese topped with veggie greens, avocado, tomato, etc.) or even sweet afternoon tea break or dessert (fill with jam, cream cheese, chocolate, etc.). It's not on the regular inventory, so Amy, who is always so extremely helpful, friendly and pleasant (as are Ketty and the others in their dept), specially orders them for me when I call in advance (before Mon), ready for pickup when I come in. I ask for them baked a light lighter (as their oven can run hot sometimes), and Susan bakes them to perfection! I keep in frig (which keeps over a week), pop in toaster oven for 2-3 min to warm up, flakey, crispy on outside. Their Mill Bread is also excellent, many of the same ingredients, similar to Dave's Killer Bread. I have Amy and Ketty put aside a loaf for me as they sell out. I get it unsliced (and cut it myself into thicker slices, equivalent of 2 thinner slices), pop in toaster oven, which makes it crispy on outside, but nice soft chewy bread on inside. Thinner cut sliced bread misses out on this. Can't say enough wonderful things about this wonderful find during covid, as I used to be a Von's shopper, but switched to Ralph's just because of this awesome bakery dept. Now I shop exclusively at this Ralph's every other week to pick up my lovely croissants and say hi to Amy. Thank you ever so much!!! btw, to the Ralph's corp powers that be: the one and only downside is that they used to be priced at $1.49 ea and now increased to 1.99. Just wish it was a regular packaged shelf item that would go on sale periodically. read more

My family and I buy 100% of our groceries and alcohol from Ralph's. We have never had a problem before today. Their new weekly ad came in and there was an amazing deal on Jim beam bourbon. I figured I would stock up for the holidays. I went into the liquor department and gleefully started to grab my bottles. I was planning on grabbing 6 bottles. On my 6th bottle, a guy came out of nowhere named Mark and said "you could only buy 3 at that price" (7.99 when you buy 3). I said ok thanks. I still grabbed 6 since it ends up being a good deal regardless. As I'm turning the corner to pay, "Mark" comes up and says "I told you that you could only buy 3 DUDE...I know you're buying these for a store". I didn't understand what he meant by that. What did Mark decide to do? He reaches into my shopping cart and starts pulling bottles out!! I asked him what he was doing, I was going to buy six, I don't care about 3 of them being 7.99 and the rest 10.99. He said "you better pay for them in the same transaction." I was honestly in shock. I just walked to checkout, paid and left. The woman who helped me at the register was very kind. Mark in the liquor department needs a class on how to treat people, especially paying customers. I was not even arguing with him. He was just very very rude. I will never go back to this Ralph's. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone who cares is going to read this. read more

This is like the holy grail of Ralph's. Like seriously you walk in and are like shish is this whole foods or what? Super clean. So clean you feel bad you're not that clean. I mean the aisles are so damn big. Like in the frozen food section you could fit like 5 carts. I don't know why I care so much about that but no wants to bump into people when you're deciding between different dollar fifty frozen meals, that's embarrassing enough. They have juice bar. A JUICE BAR. IN A RALPH'S. It's kinda so big like IKEA big that you probably couldn't run in to grab a couple things because you need to stop for a water break or something. But I go to the Ralph's in Noho and that one is kinda small and crappy. So now that I've recently discovered Ikea Ralph's that's open 24 hours it'll be tough to go back to NoThanks Ralph's. I used to love the West LA Ralph's on Olympic but this Ralph's is seriously the best one I've been to in LA. I consider myself a Ralph's aficionado so take my word. I mean I don't know why people would read reviews about grocery stores though. They have a bigass Asian section with coconut milk, seaweed, and FISH SAUCE. You know they legit if they got fish sauce. 24 Hours mang. Fun for the whole family. I'd just go there to hang out did I mention it's huge? I love shopping there but due to COVID we have been picking up our groceries and decided to do a pick up here and it's just been on big mistake! We arrived at 10 when we where supposed and was told they are backed up we will call you around noon to come pick up. My husband called at 12:30 and the lady said our order was ready but they are still backed up she had 30 people in the parking who's orders are not ready and she has to move them out and she will call us when we can come in. This Ralph's specifically constantly sells deli meat that is about a day from expiration if not already expired as well as bacon that's already started turning grey. Pandemic or not there is never any excuse for selling food that's so close to going bad or already has. Especially when they charge what they do for it. *** Seriously make sure you always look at the dates on anything that can expire here, especially the meat. Their staff does NOT!*** The GM here (Well let's be honest, the manager who "claims" to be the GM) is rude as hell. Through out the pandemic he would not let Instacart shoppers fulfill their customer's orders for alcohol if their license expired even though no other Ralph's in Los Angeles did that because they understood getting a license renewed last year was a difficult and long process. I also like the selection of wine and alcohol. when they run out of something, they replenish it pretty quickly. all the guys in the produce department are friendly and helpful, now that I say that why don't they have any women in the produce department? I know we have a homeless problem in LA but I do appreciate this particular Ralphs trying to stay on top of the situation as much as possible. so overall this is my neighborhood Ralphs and I support it and thank you for keeping it clean read more

I'll start my review with a suggestion. If management is implementing new store policies they need to clearly displayed somewhere. I have shopped in this particular location for over 10 years. Occasionally I treat myself to a king crab legs. Although they might be a little pricier then some of the normal items I wouldn't exactly compare them to buying a diamond. Tonight after ordering I was notified by the cashier that since my order was over $50 they need to carry the item to "customer service" and I can pick it up from there. Odd. I bought the same week or so prior and non of this happen. Ralph's in Studio City is not exactly the cheapest store in town. One can easily pick up three small packages of lamb chops from the self service area and exceed that "item price minimum". Fast forward to me picking up the item. The person manning the customer service booth was not there so I asked an associate. They were just as puzzled as me. So puzzled they actually in fact had to go and ask the manager what to do. After that of course everybody played along, Telling me stories about how recently did cut someone walking out with a pork chop in their pants, etc etc. I normally use self check out but I was told I need to hop in a huge line and when it's my turn they will bring my purchase to me. I objected and after a couple of eye rolls A nice young gentleman grabbed the precious crab legs and walked with me to the self check out. The store has plenty of security cameras and even a large security guard with a gun. And like I said I could've had three bottles of expensive olive oil in my basket and it would've been the same price. --- I'm beginning to think that it was the way I looked so I'll make a point of wearing my wedding tuxedo. next time I go shopping.
