Disgusting. Worst possible experience. Please, if you value your safety, health, and dignity, NEVER go to this place. Trouble began right away. Walking in, we saw crack vials and used syringes in parking lot. Upon entering lobby, the front desk clerk (Indian woman in her 50s, med length hair) asks for my ID and then proceeds to completely ignore me for about 15 min while she talks on her phone, and then talks to her coworker, in Hindi. Finally we get the key, room 106, and we go in to find... it's an uncleaned, used room. Dirty towels and sheets, trash, other people's forgotten belongings. So we go let the staff know, they give us another room, 261, which was a smoking room that REEKED, even though we'd booked non smoking. Upon entering, we notice the bed headboard is broken off and has been propped up against the wall. Burns on sheets, comforter, furniture, broken and yellowed lampshades, and smudges - big, greasy smears - all over it. The carpet was so filthy it turned your feet black. The tub faucet was broken and sprayed water directly out, rather than down, and the shower curtain was filthy and yellowed. There was trash from previous guests in the closet and the safe. TV did not work at all, and one of the lamps flickered with a strobe light-like affect. Believe it or not, it only got worse. Upon closer inspection, it turned out the door lock didn't work, if you pulled it shut from the inside (thinking it would lock, as one would expect) it did not, so anyone could have walked in while we were sleeping. Then, I noticed the blood. All over the walls in the bathroom, the mirror, and the broken floor. I have worked with recovering addicts, and I know exactly what this is - it's when an IV drug users depresses the plunger on a syringe that already has their blood in it, either to get air bubbles out or to clean the syringe when they're done. It was EVERYWHERE. Then I moved the tray that the coffee pot was one - God help me, there were used condoms, condom wrappers, a dead roach, and a razor blade under there. Did I mention I had my 7 yr old daughter with me? When I went to the desk, the woman was incredibly rude, called me a liar. She said I either had to put up with that room or leave and get refunded for the night. Obviously we choose the later, but when I returned to get the refund, they refused to do it. Claimed that the card I had wasn't the one I booked the room with (it was), and then said I had to contact super.com, as that was the site I had booked the room through. When I contacted them, they said the HOTEL had to refund me. This was the worst experience with a hotel - hell, with any kind of establishment, in my life. I've contacted health dept, BBB, etc. But please, if you value your health and sanity, stay far, far away from this disgusting place. read more

The front desk lady is so sweet, I went to tell her she said it don't get no cleaner, food thrown through the parking lot starting at the door of the hotel, cracked windows. Do you want to be charged 60 dollars for the 30 minutes it takes to realize you made a mistake? I checked out after seeing the room and it cost me a whole $74 dollars. Where else but here can a low price turn into an 2 dollar a minute experience? Have you ever felt worried that you were leaving an hotel room dirtier than you found it? Here you can feel like the hotel room makes you feel dirtier! I even found free sunflower seeds left under the bed skirt. Are you looking for an experience you will never forget? You will feel like you are on the Hollywood set of a derelict hotel but with worse lighting and more of a feeling of disbelief. The tub in my room was so stained, I immediately took pictures to share with my family and friends. You can debate which is more disgusting, the torn and splotchy lamp shades, or the spots of gunk rubbed into the rug. I went to check in. Trash everywhere (should of been my first red flag) I get to the room, and it's filthy. Room smelled like marijuana. Dirty bathroom. Dirty bed. Linens looked like they never been washed. Quarter of joint left in the sink. Went to front desk to ask for another room. The lady says we're fully booked. I ask for a refund, since I'm not staying in an unhygienic room. Lady wouldn't give me a refund. I called my credit card company and file a dispute. No one should stay here. This is the filthiest hotel I've ever stayed in. There were semen stains on the chair, the curtains were moldy, the bedsheets weren't changed and were full of crumbs and yellow stains, someone's fake eyelashes were on the carpet meaning it wasn't vacuumed, there were flies in the room, and there was garbage and stray cats all over the parking lot. Someone hit my car in the parking lot when I was sitting in it, and when I asked the girl at the front desk if there is a security camera facing the lot, she refused to tell me. I'm not sure what I expected when I booked the cheapest room in Baltimore but I definitely got what I paid for. read more

Not my first choice hotel but when you're looking for a smoking room, the options are extremely scarce. It's about $80/night. The King size bed was very comfortable and there are a lot of cable channels. Just for $5 more, I opted for the room with the refrigerator and microwave. The rooms are a nice size and there's free parking. It's near the highway and there are many stores and restaurants very close by. It was clean for the most part.....not spotless, but clean. Although the bathroom was small, the shower was big enough to turn around and wash comfortably without hitting the walls or curtain. That made me extremely happy. The staff were extremely pleasant from the attendant to housekeeping. I wasn't a fan of the stairwell. My room was on the second floor and there was only one stairwell in the front by the lobby. So if you had to park in the back or your room was in the back, you have to walk all the way to the front stairwell to get upstairs. And although the sheets and blankets were clean, there were many burn holes in the comforter. Other than that, the motel was decent. read more

I must have got the worst room in the entire hotel! There was a sign at the front desk that read "No Breakfast" (although advertised on the website). When we got to the room, there was no remote for the TV, the sheets had stains, the hot water faucet in the tub was non-functional (and there was a constant stream of hot water coming from the tub faucet). When we finally settled in to sleep, BED BUGS came from under the mattress somewhere! I know we were not the first people to tell them that the room was not ready or safe for occupants. We packed up and ran out of there. When I asked for a refund, we were told that we had to go to Hotels.com to get our money back. Worse place ever- even for short term rentals. read more

This place should be called THE RA-WORST or RA-NADA Omg I've only been here 2 hours and I want to leave. They gave 2 hand towels for bath towels. The shower did have some kind of air bubble lining that made footing uneasy. Plus the shower had more hair in it than i have on my head. The toilet has some kinda funky brown gunk behind it on the floor /ceiling cracked. The room as I walked in was dank, funky and musty!!!!! If I could leave negative stars I would. I booked this hotel to spend a relaxing weekend getaway in the "Greatest City in America." Turns out it isn't so great. Our group called the hotel before hand to ensure our room was ready and it was confirmed by the representative on the phone. Upon arrival, it was nothing but a nightmare. The man at the front desk told us our room was in fact not available and said that we could upgrade our room for more money if we wanted to stay there. Which should have been complimentary because they decided to overbook. However, the desk attendant decided to argue against it. Luckily, we were able to scramble and find a room at The Hampton Inn at Baltimore Inner Harbor. After experiencing the service at the new hotel it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. read more

Ok, I decided to write this review because there aren't any recent ones. I had booked this motel through booking.com because we were going to a concert at the Merriweather Post Pavilion and all the hotels in that area wanted $150+ a night, sorry not paying that for a room that I don't plan on spending a lot of time in. So I looked outside Columbia and booking showed that this motel had openings and the price was right at $54 a night (before taxes). After I booked it, I read the reviews on here and google. Then I got nervous. I booked it without checking because there was only 2 rooms left and I didn't want to miss out. So when we arrived I could tell the lobby was a bit dated but I didn't worry too much at that point. The guy in the lobby was super nice. We had a non-smoking room on the second floor back towards where the pool is. As soon as we got into the room I went through it, even checking the beds for any critters and I found nothing but a CLEAN room. Yeah, the shower floor felt weird, like they re-did it with a bath fitter type tub that didn't seal well on the floor but it was clean and the water was hot. We didn't find the other guest to be loud at all. Our only real complaint is that our keycard got de-activated once and the A.C. units fan is a bit loud. Nothing to really freak out over. Overall, if you are looking for a room for a concert at Merriweather, book here. It only took us 10 minutes and was easy to get there from this motel and the price was right. read more

Like the previous person said, the parking lot is just plain awful; cigarette butts every where, trash, and i even saw a few hospital gowns. The rooms are in good shape, true but the sinks seriously needs plumbing and needs new molding. Would i recommend this place to the f no. I would not see me ever bringing a loved one here but just for myself yes. Great thing is that Walmart is down the street. And to top the worst news is that yes, this is a red light district, thus this is a motel. PS, the gym been out of service longer than the front desk person been here 10 plus years. Run. Do not stay here. For years my family member returns here to have pests in her room every time. I cannot imagine why she returns except it's dirt cheap and this time was no exception. Mice crawled up my brother-in-law's leg one night, my parents swatted ants off of a cup of tea that had been sitting for only 10 minutes and my last stay, last year, boasted several roaches in the room. They also allow some guests to live there so ladies, if you're travelling alone, be aware that some unsavory types LIVE here and you should be careful. I echo the thoughts of Andy D on the tub. The 'breakfast' is scary. Don't eat it. And the wifi never works. That's all I got, guys. Don't be wowed by the cheap rates or the convenient location. It's every bit as bad as everyone says. Gross. I used to go to this hotel mainly because the rooms are cheap, but the saying "you get what you pay for" truly does apply to this place. The last time I went there my sheets smelled like underarms like they hadn't been laundered at all, and I also had problems getting the heat to work in the winter. I asked to switch rooms and I could not be accomodated, and that was my last visit there. From what I understand it's a hotel people usually frequent because it's close to the city and it's way less expensive than trying to find somewhere downtown. So if you are short on cash and just need somewhere to crash for the night, then and only then would I recommend. Just don't expect anything spectacular. The good thing about this place though is that it's off of Route 40, so there are plenty of places to eat in a short radius from the hotel. read more

This motel is typical of the area. The neighborhood isn't great, and I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the building in the back is filled with families and/or drug dealers living full-time out of these cheap rooms. My sheets were clean, and the mattress was too soft for me but didn't seem worn out. I didn't seen any signs of rats or roaches, but the room definitely needed new carpeting and the ceiling paint and wallpaper were cracking/peeling in and around the bathroom area from the moisture. The mirrors, lamp fixtures, and plumbing fixtures in my room were all crooked and poorly installed. The water went from hot to cold to hot depending on the use of hot water by the other guests in the hotel, so when I showered at night I was alright, but not during the daytime. There are no microwaves or refrigerators in these rooms, and on the one working ice machine up front there was a sign specifying no filling of coolers or trash cans. I found the free WIFI to be of adequate speed, although I do hate hotels like this that do not offer a secure connection. The housekeeping staff were very friendly; even if they didn't speak much English, they still tried. If they didn't throw the clean sheets on the concrete sidewalk in front of your room before entering and changing the sheets I might have been impressed by their genuine efforts. The male manager I encountered behind the front desk was not very welcoming and barely spoke any English at all apparently; do not even try to ask him anything, you will not get anywhere! Restaurants located nearby include a slew of Indian, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, etc., joints, so if you like spicy Asian food you are in luck. The H Mart around the corner has cheap Korean food and a good Korean-style food court inside. For the less adventurous, Applebee's, Arby's, and the Double T Diner are your American restaurant options, and a Wal-Mart and a Giant grocery store are right there, too. In my opinion, if you are looking for a relaxing, enjoyable stay in Baltimore, you'll have to spend more money and stay by the airport or all the way downtown in the Inner Harbor area. If you are just looking for a very cheap room for a night or two, this place is decent, but I wouldn't leave anything valuable in your car or walk anywhere (day or night). read more

It was going great till one of the staff just forced her way into my room. I work nights and sleep in the day and I'm here as temporary living till my apartment is ready, the do not disturbe sign up so I can sleep. I wake up to let my boyfriend in and the cleaning lady asks him if we and service he said no she looks and me and I say no and she still steps forward into my room and looks at all my stuff and starts taking trash. I told her I cant be doing this because I work opposite hours and I sleep durring this time. Then she told me I need to let her in tomorrow. I CANT AND WONT I WILL BE SLEEPING! My room doesnt beed vacuumed and my sheets are clean, towels only used twice and I've taken care of my trash. I had to get rude to get her to go away! NO means NO.... My second night here I was locked out of my room at 1am and could not get back in with the standard key. I was told the lock had dead batteries, but nobody can change them so at 1am I had to move my room. Twice actually because the first room he put me in didn't have a fridge so I went from a king bed to two doubles just because they can't change batteries. MAJOR HASSLE!! The breakfast sucks, no eggs and as usual, those gross "golden malted" waffles. The cleaning staff won't throw away garbage if it's not in the garbage can for some reason. My buddy and I stayed here for just one night since we were going to a pair of concerts at Merriweather Post Pavilion a few miles down the road. The location was pretty good for the price since MPP was only 6 miles away, and parking was free (at MPP). But if I were with a family, or even with my girlfriend, I probably wouldn't stay here. It was pretty much only good for a bed to sleep and a bathroom (which was quite small). What I liked: the front-of-house staff was nice enough to let us stay a little bit later to get ready to get out without additional charge; the location on Route 40 was pretty decent and near a lot of shops/restaurants (if we had wanted to walk); the pool was open and seemed to be in good condition (but we never went in); we were able to park the car right outside the door. What I didn't like: it wasn't terribly clean: I definitely found some pubic hairs in the shower and around the sink, as well as some hairs stuck in our "clean towels" (which was pretty gross); the bathroom was about as big as a jail cell, and since the sink was outside, I woke my friend up to wash my hands after (annoying); there were 2 ice machines, but they were in the same location right near the front desk, which was a pain since our room was all the way at the opposite end of the hotel; (and THE WORST): the air conditioner didn't really work; this was a hot weekend towards the end of June and having a working A/C unit was essential, but it would turn on for about 30-45 minutes, then turn off for no reason. Bottom line, this place is good if you need somewhere to sleep near MPP or some other nearby event location, but nothing else. If you're looking for somewhere nice to relax and go out sparingly, this place isn't for you. It is good for a pillow at night and a spot to get changed, but just remember before booking: you get what you're paying for. read more

My wife and I recently traveled to the DC area to attend a funeral at Arlington National Cemetery and we found this hotel by using Expedia. The location was just outside of Baltimore and a decent distance from DC so we thought it would be perfect. I knew that we were flying a red eye flight and that we were going to arrive before the check in time of 3:00 PM so I called the hotel a few days before our arrival and talked to a woman to explain that we were going to arrive early. She told me she could not assure me that they would have room but if they did have an opening it would be an additional $40 to check in early. I had no problem with the early check in fee so we made our trip. Upon arriving at the hotel, I went to check in and was told that the arrival time was 3:00 PM and I said I understood that but wanted to see about getting an early check in. I was then told that the fee for an early check in was going to be a full fare room charge of $125. I was shocked and recounted the conversation I had early in the week and was told $40. The guy at the check in counter did looked very confused and began checking his computer. After several minutes he told met that the room would now cost me $95 to check in early. I again recounted the conversation I had earlier in the week about the room only costing $40 for early check in. At this point the woman I had been speaking with earlier in the week arrived and was told what was going on by the clerk. She reviewed everything on the computer and again agreed the fee for early check in was going to be $95. I told her that I was tired and that I was not very happy but I needed to sleep so give me the room. I also told her that I would post about this situation in my review of the hotel. Several minutes passed and she finally agreed to charge me $45 for the early check in. This whole process was an absolute nightmare and they had no idea what to charge me. The actual hotel was not great and the room itself was basically a bed, table, chair, desk, TV and the bathroom area. The room had peeling paint and there was a wire strung from on wall, down the closet wall and then it just disappeared. No idea what that wire was for but it just seemed out of place. The hotel did have a 'business center' that consisted of a computer but there was no printer so when I needed to print my boarding pass I had to run down the street to another location and pay round $5 for the computer access and the ability to print. The bed was hard but we were able to sleep because we were so exhausted. If I ever visit the Baltimore area again I will not be staying in this hotel again. read more

Not a great hotel. My bed was very stiff, the shower leaked everywhere, and the staff is barely understandable. The wireless "high speed" internet is also more like wireless 56k modem connection. Additionally, there were people running around the corridors and stairs, yelling at each other all night. I called the front desk, but if they did anything, it made no difference. For $60 a night, it really wasn't that good. I could have stayed at the Wyndam for $15 more a night. **As a small bonus, the manager did refund one night's fee for the yelling and screaming that was going on the second night. read more

It was okay overall. I've experienced better, but don't have too much to complain about. The king bed in my room was very comfortable, the AC/heat worked well, and the T.V. had an expanded cable service much better than you usually get in a hotel of this type. Lots of channels, actually, so I was never bored. I ended up being put in a smoking room even though I requested a non-smoking room, but they couldn't change the reservation. At least I could barely smell cigarette smoke from the other rooms on either side of me. I checked in here with a rental car during the Inauguration and trying to avoid D.C. even though I took on a new job as of January 18. I was looking to rent a room after spending my first night in at Hostel International. I was here from Jan. 19-23 and luckily I was able to secure a room to rent by the time the weekend was over. I appreciated the free breakfast every morning starting at 6:30 am till about 9:30 am. Waffles! Everybody was after that waffle maker, but they had a nice assortment of cereals and fruits, and of course bread for toast and those Danish and muffins I didn't eat a whole lot of. The fire alarm in my room kept beeping but that got taken care of after a day or two. But one thing that bothered me was that bathtub...it was soft at the bottom as if it had detached from its seal to the floor, and I did not feel comfortable standing up taking a shower in there...I certainly didn't take a bath there. Not sure what that was about but they need to check that out. read more
