Hotel Indigo Baltimore Downtown is up a few steps from the sidewalk, but if you have issues with stairs I saw an accessible entrance on the side which they could open for you. We were assigned a room on the same floor as the lobby, just past the fitness center. From the outside it was as if we were on the second floor. Our single bed was quite wide, the ceiling above the bed was very high, but the bathroom was small, had no spare toilet paper, and only two hooks to hang anything, which made it tough to hang clean clothing and towels to dry for two guests who do not share towels. Speaking of which, towels provided were limited, so when I found a stain on my bath towel and requested a fresh one, they brought me a whole set. After our time here I saw a video by theholdernessfamily mentioning hotel bathrooms with barn doors that don't close tightly. I didn't realize that was a thing. But it proved true here! Also clear glass shower doors which make it impossible to share the bathroom with a gal pal while someone is showering. Our across the hall neighbor was loud. It was as if there was an open house party each night from about 10:30pm to 11:45pm with all the loud comings and goings. Their 24 hour gym had a water fountain. They have a Grab & Go stocked with a variety of snacks, drinks, some ice cream, and useful things. read more

Our room was a corner king and had some extra room with a couch and another tv which was nice! I'd give it 5 stars but I felt our room was a little hot - thermostat said it was 67 but it felt hotter. I found Hotel Indigo to be affordable and convenient. It's also a historic building that's almost 120 years old, which I found to be pretty cool. Pros: The garage directly across from the street was only $7 overnight on Saturdays and Sundays. Everyone I interacted with at the front desk was pleasant. Cons: My room had an odd burnt smell, that I suspect came from the HVAC system. It didn't bother me too much but was definitely noticeable. My room also had a few stains on the carpet and holes on what I think was the mattress pad at the foot of the bed. read more

I was wrongfully charged 272 dollars for a cancellation fee when I cancelled a month in advance. I was supposed to be refunded, but they refunded the money to the wrong card. I have a new card. I've been told twice now that I was refunded, but I have not been refunded, again, because they have the wrong card on file. I was supposed to receive an email, I did not until today. I then emailed the property and was not contacted. It's been almost two weeks, and I shouldn't have been charged in the first place. Today I was transferred to the accountant, who was not available, and I left a message. I would like my money back. I experienced a wonderfully relaxing stay at Hotel Indigo in downtown Baltimore. This wasn't too far of a ride from the airport in Baltimore and the scenery made it even better. Check-in was simple and quick so I got to my room pretty fast. Instead in a suite on the 7th floor. Entering my room, I was taken away with the smell of luxury the filled the room. The large windows and beautiful window treatments provided views that immediately made me feel special. The trim was big with somewhat of a hallway. The bed was oh so comfy and let's talk about the bathroom..... the bathroom was lit with somewhat special lighting in the mirror that made it clear and slightly dim. The shower was big, clean, and luxurious. I loved the shower handle that can be taken off of the mount and sprayed like a hose. And the Zenology body wash and body balm was the star of the stay! I've been looking ever for the Ficus Sycamorus scent and cannot find!!! I regret daily that I didn't pack it in my bag to take home! The hotel staff were friendly and helpful when asked for recommendations and directions around the city. The grab and go was most helpful when I got in late and needed a snack. Cool decor and extremely friendly and accommodating staff made this stay enjoyable. I had the pleasure to experience a Premium Corner Suite King room due to my status with IHG and was quite pleased... clean, modern, and MOST importantly- hot water shower! I can not stress the importance of plentiful, hot water flowing down in the shower. If anyone who travels and spends time in hotels you know what I mean. This was the icing on the cake. The caveat to the icing on the cake... Thanks to Yelp, when checking in here you get a free parking pass! And even better, then parking garage is right across the street. Ended up staying at Hotel Indigo due to issues at another hotel. This hotel offers a beautiful design, from the downstairs area to the hotel rooms. The staff were very friendly at the front desk and the waitress in the restaurant/bar area was amazing. The waitress provided great recommendations and we made sure to visit her on the nights we could at the bar. We were pretty bummed on our last night that we received a message about the restaurant/bar area closing early due to private events. Hotel is located downtown with no valet so you have to park your car yourself in the parking garage across the street. The parking garage closes at 10 pm during the week which can be a little inconvenient. I experienced a small inconvenience when I checked in, I was given a very small room that did not provide space to move freely (we were literally having slide by each other) or a desk area to work remotely. I informed the staff and they switched my room the next morning. Overall a beautiful place with polite staff. read more

When we arrived, the first room we were given was already occupied. No one was inside but it was extremely uncomfortable and inappropriate. We were then given a second room and that one was also already occupied.. We traveled a long way with a baby so this situation caused us a lot of unnecessary stress when we just wanted to relax in the room that we booked weeks in advance. We were eventually escorted to a third room and reassured that the issue was resolved. The room was comfortable and clean but not what we wanted. At the time we received 3 bottles of sparkling water as an apology. That said, we later reached out to guest relations and were contacted by management, who listened to our concerns and offered a resolution we were satisfied with. I go to Baltimore a couple of times a year to visit my family, and I always stay here. It's always just so dependable. First off, the staff is very very nice. No apathetic people who really don't like their job; just nice and very helpful people. Second, the bed is insanely comfortable. Not only is the mattress great, but the sheets are no joke. I really don't think that they are Skimping on the price of linens. I seriously didn't want to get out of bed every morning. Fourth, I like that the rooms have hardwood floors. As with all of the IHG Indigo hotels we have used, this one, too, is a gem. Wonderfully friendly service, clean rooms, stylish (and good) restaurant/bar in the lobby, and a decent work-out space. The location in historic Mount Vernon is also outstanding. You're near arena, stadia, and loads of attractions. {The bar is playing Duran Duran now on the sound system. Nice.} One very important note for travelers with cars: they do not do valet parking, and the pull-up area out front is tiny and often occupied by delivery trucks. Right on their website they say to park in the garage across the street, get a plastic token for payment, and bring that to the desk so they can assist when you check out. This is not a casual observation. You have to do it this way. If I had only followed the directions, I would have saved myself a circuit of the neighborhood on one way streets. Live and learn. Now, good traveler, here is some other info to chew on: this location is in the middle of a large, American city. So take note: there are renovated areas and areas that need some help, like all great cities. A fairly significant number of people sleeping rough on the street, some with apparent substance abuse issues and mental health concerns, are across the street near to the garage I described above. This should not dissuade you from staying at this charming place, but as with all cities in modern America, be aware of your surroundings, secure your valuables, and don't be a goof. I believe when I was there, a wedding party was also staying but that was only a bit of an inconvenience when I tried to check out at the same time as a good amount of the individuals from the party did. We choose to stay at the Hotel Indigo in downtown for a few nights while in town for a Orioles game. The location was great for getting out and walking to different attractions like Camden Yards, Babe Ruth's museum, and the Inner Harbor. The hotel was clean, and the front desk and bell hop staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms were nicely decorated, and you felt like you were at a very expensive hotel, but at a Holiday Inn price tag! The restaurant on the property and the parking could use some improvement. The restaurant had extremely slow service and needs more options to accommodate dietary needs as their offerings are very slim. The parking in the garage across the street will save you money over valet if you are not moving your car more than once a day. The area is very walkable so we saved some money doing this. However, it is tricky to get in and out of the garage due to traffic. There are a lot of homeless on the sidewalks throughout the city, however, they did not make us feel unsafe. We did have a homeless veteran approach us when we came back from dinner asking us if he could have our leftovers - which we gave him being a military family ourselves we felt bad for him. In Federal Hill Downton Baltimore & YES, it is safe! I stay here pretty often and each time my needs are met, my expectations are exceeded, and I get a peace of mind. The staff always makes me feel welcome and goes above and beyond, a priority if I must say. The restaurant staff is very patient, very good prices, and the food is exceptional. The cleanliness is definitely up to par and even the housekeepers are very nice and helpful, despite the language barrier. Parking gets confusing but the front desk staff seems to have good understanding of how parking works and how to explain how it works. I was here for breakfast. A very old lady by the name of Frances, her description is dark circle eyes, grey hair braided into thick terrible braids that are not the same color as her hair, pulled back, when I see her she usually has on a dirty black chef shirt and her mouth and the way it looks is awful. Just awful, her attitude was so ridiculous to me and she looks like the energy she gives off.. just miserable. When I come down I get the same thing for breakfast when I visit this hotel. She was there cooking I assume, it was around 650am and she walks up on me as I'm coming in and says "do you need something"? In the nastiest way like as if I'm bothering her and I'm literally just a hungry guest. She gives the worst attitude and I don't understand why. This is not my first incident with this lady as I have made it my business to find out her name. I will not eat breakfast here if she is there. I'd advise anyone else to steer clear of breakfast at this location because if she is working everyone else on the clock with her is miserable and it shows. Nobody looks happy on the shift and as a guest, I feel that and I'm sorry for the people that work under her. Broken hearted. I've been here for breakfast and lunch and she just makes the place miserable how she treats her workers. I just feel bad for them. We were greeted warmly upon arrival and although our room was not ready when we arrived before 3p.m. we decided to sit at the bar for a drink or two but before we ordered Tyjuan the gentlemen at the front desk said that he had a room available. I have never received the amount of white glove service that we did at this place. From the clean room, to the recommendations for food, and even the willingness to take our bags and keep them after check out to avoid them in our vehicle due to crime. We were then able to check out and go explore the National Harbor for a few more hours before leaving. We will return, they obviously take care of their patrons. We even sat at the bar one night and they were about to close, the bartenders recommended a bar down the street and then met us there upon closing of the hotel bar. We are New Yorkers that got married in Baltimore this summer. On top of our stays throughout the year when we had to visit for wedding planning purposes, this was our (only) hotel for the room block (since all of our guests were from out of town, we had about 60 people stay here). Our stays were always comfortable and welcoming. We looked forward to visiting because we knew the staff would always have a smile on their face and lend a helpful hand if needed. Everyone - the wait staff at Poets, the behind-the-scenes caterers/chefs, housekeeping, etc. - are SO kind. They really take pride in the experience each guest has. Rooms are cute and clean, the library/lounge are beautiful, it's dog friendly, parking is $5 and they validate it too, that lobby water is refreshing and delicious any time of year. Special shout out to the manager Kim who goes above and beyond in everything she does and made us feel like family when she did not have to. read more

Loved the location! Close to so many awesome restaurants and walking district to museums and great local treasures but you can definitely find better service at another hotel close by. Booked a two level suite for my sisters and I to enjoy a girls night and had a very poor experience. Restaurant food was delicious but the restaurant was totally understaffed so everything took forever and our waiter was very nice and I felt bad that he constantly apologized and explained that the restaurant was short staffed. Check in was interesting as well. There were two folks at the counter for check in. A woman who was helping someone and there was also a person behind her and in front of me. There was a guy at the counter in front of his own register but he never acknowledged us or offered to help so now there were four of us in line while he just acted like we were invisible and the woman was really slow and dealing with an upset guest who was there on a business trip and didn't have the card his company used to book the hotel. It was disappointing to see that the guy didn't even care that we had to listef to that as guests. He eventually walked off while the line was growing. Our suite was on the first floor and sadly we heard the door opening and closing all night and when we went to ask for linen since the pull out "doesn't come dressed if you don't request it" we were treated beyond poorly by Kim who was rude and told us we should have requested linen at check in. Interesting that if you book a suite with one bed and a pull out and advise how many people ... the hotel doesn't think they should dress the pull out sofa or at minimum ask at check in if you would like linen. We were treated very rude. It took over an hour for linen to show up. I asked for the card and name of the manager. His name is Eric. I called Eric that night, left a message. Called the following day and sent an email. No response. Definitely Do Not Recommend. As an IHG member, I have never been so disappointed and will not stay here again. Indigo is in Mt. Vernon, close but nestled away from the inner harbor and weekend chaos of fells and canton. And, I got to bring my little Frenchie pup to join me. The peace and quiet, delicious cuisine, massive room with extra high ceilings, perfect shower and fantastic staff were above and beyond. We were in town unexpectedly due to hospitalization of a family member. By chance we found Hotel Indigo on Hotel Tonight. We chose it for the price and reviews on HT. But quality far exceeded expectations. Biggest downside is location -- which is scrappy. A fair number of homeless crowding around the big catholic church, and the Pratt Library. But everything else is upside. Walkable to Inner Harbor, friendly staff, tasteful renovation, clean rooms, and a great in-hotel breakfast. Convenient (paid) parking in a garage across from the hotel. Recommended if you want to save money while still enjoying a quality experience. For us, additional upsides were a great Ethiopian restaurant a block away, as well as Baltimore Bikram (hot yoga), also a block away. Recommended. read more

I have stayed here a few times as local just to get away, but this time I no longer live in town and stayed the weekend while in town. I know how popular this hotel is but boy o boy was it busy this weekend. There was a wedding party happening and it was live! But once in my room, I did not hear a peep. However, due to the weather in FL, my flight arrangements got all messed up. I checked in late and needed to stay past the 11 AM check out time just to get some extra rest. I am not sure of her name (works 11P shift), Crystal I think. She was super accommodating due to my flight change and allowed me a few extra hours. I was exposed to Hotel Indigo a couple months ago in Jacksonville. It is a chain but they don't have a ton of properties. I enjoyed my stay in Jacksonville so much that when I saw there was one in Baltimore, I pounced on the opportunity. While I have only been to two properties thus far, they were a lot different. This location is in the heart of the action of downtown Baltimore, close to John Hopkins. Since it's a congested part of town, they don't have their own parking lot. I hate paying for parking at hotels, and this is the one big downside to staying here. You park in a public parking lot across the street. The rates weren't terrible, and it's cheaper if you leave your car there for some time. If you're going in-and-out, things can escalate quickly. Which was annoying because it altered my plans. The property itself is beautiful. As you walk in, there's a bar to your right that serves food too. They have happy hour and I took advantage of that with a discount off one of their cocktails. On the left, is a study/chill area with plenty of seating and a fireplace. The theme of the hotel is an old-school library so you see that theme throughout, including in the rooms. They also have complimentary fruit-infused water and the selection of fruits is changed every day. It's the little things. The room itself was also stunning and my favorite room on a week-long road trip. Clean, fancy, and comfortable. Just what I like. The service was good too. Minus a bad experience with one employee, everyone else I interacted with was friendly and accommodating. They don't have a microwave in the room, which was a bummer, but you do have a mini fridge. For the price point, you get a lot of value. These hotels are awesome and they're not as expensive as you would think for a place as nice as this. Comfort. When you are away visiting, when you are far way from your favorite pair of pajamas and your nook in your home, you want as comfortable a situation as possible. You get that here. The first time I stayed at the Indigo Hotel, I booked a standard King room. I really liked it. The room was clean, and the bed was super comfortable. I loved having the restaurant Poets downstairs. I enjoyed having a workout room with a pull up bar. [You have no idea how the latter is missing at so many establishments.] After the first time I wanted a place I could hang out in, so I booked a suite. As soon as I walked in the railroad style suite the Hotel Indigo became a place to "love ". I actually wanted to go back to the room to relax by doing something other than sleep. Just my speed. This last time that I booked my usual suite, I guess my late arrival depleted the available suites. I checked in at 11pm on a Friday night, tired and ready for bed. The woman at the front desk greeted me with the usual professional courtesy I've come to expect from the Indigo. Then she informed me that my suite has been upgraded to a double. Huh?!? All fatigue was forgotten when I stepped into the two floor room. I still love my single floor suite. But the double, which means the bed is upstairs, was really nice. The Hotel Indigo is down the street from what is becoming my favorite cigar spot in Baltimore. I always enjoy my visit to Poets restaurant. And I just discovered that there is a UU church right on the corner. I can genuinely say, even if I have to try another hotel in Baltimore or DC; I'll miss this place. read more

I've been to Hotel Indigo Baltimore twice now. The hotel is conveniently located near N Charles St, where you can find many restaurants. It's also located near the light rail. Checkin has always been quick and easy. I've stayed in both a room with a king size bed as well as one with 2 queen size beds. Of the two, I liked the room with the king size bed the most because it had a separate section with plush chairs and a coffee table for TV watching. It felt more spacious and less like a studio. The bed is comfortable and the shower is nice. The closet is fairly large and has enough hangars and shelf space for a week-long stay. There's a mini fridge in the room with small freezer section, but it's not cold enough to keep ice cream frozen. One of the inconveniences is that there are not enough power outlets, especially near the bed. In the lobby, you can have breakfast, lunch, dinner, or an evening drink at Poet's. I had breakfast here many times and the food is excellent. There are only a few people staffing Poet's, so service slows down when it gets busy. Located near the elevators are some food items that you can buy. I highly recommend the coffee oreo ice cream, but make sure to eat it in one sitting because the mini fridge can't keep it frozen. Near Poet's is a business center with 2 computers and a printer. I have never been able to get the printer to work either time I stayed at Hotel Indigo. We had the best staycation this weekend! First and absolutely most importantly, Scott is the best bartender in the city! Second, the hotel is simply a great place to stay. The employees are so helpful and friendly, you feel like you're in a 5 star Vegas resort. There's a thoughtful snack / drink / supply cabinet in the lobby, a delightful library seating space, great restaurant and bar, and IT'S DOG FRIENDLY!!! We booked the Two-floor deluxe King Suite and it was everything we could have wanted. It was my wife's eleventh 29th birthday and all she wanted was a night away from the monsters... Ahem... I mean kids... And to order Chinese takeaway, take a lengthy shower, and sleep in. The hotel accommodated perfectly! Scott had us perfectly hydrated with local specialty cocktails before the delivery food came, it was delivered right to us, and we enjoyed taking the remainder of our cocktails back to our room to enjoy alongside the food. The wifi was solid, cable TV had a bunch of shows and movies, and there was a plentiful coffee station that we didn't end up using. It would be unprofessional to not mention that the hotel is beginning to age from a major renovation nearly 8 years ago, but it still looks sharp even with some fading vegan leather chairs at the bar and minor other things that show the many visitors since it was renovated. But if you're looking for a stylish boutique feeling hotel for a SUPER reasonable rate, you cannot go wrong. And, did I mention the bartender Scott is the most inviting, pleasant, knowledgeable bartender you could ever ask for?! Don't forget to book breakfast for your stay, it is a very valuable voucher that includes most breakfast dishes for no upcharge, and the premium dishes are only $5 extra. Totally worth it! Just don't forget to tip according to the actual value! The hotel has recently welcomed a new General Manager, and I think it will be nice to see what changes and upgrades he makes to the space. It isn't in need of a total renovation, but some small changes could really improve the space. If you're not super picky about perfection or every single detail being perfect, you're going to absolutely love this place. If a few small blemishes will drive you insane, maybe come to see it before booking it and making the staff's day into a nightmare of nitpicking madness. Some positives: Bed was high quality, better than most. Room was nice. Staff did their jobs well. Fairly good location. Just a block off of Charles Ave, where many buses run to the tourist area near the bay, or in the other direction towards Johns Hopkins University. Got a breakfast included, and a good one at that. Some neutrals. It is downtown Baltimore and I did encounter a few panhandlers while walking in the area, but, hey, it is downtown of a major city, and that is to be expected. Breakfast, while quite good, was a slow operation. So if you were in a hurry, maybe pass on it. If you call the hotel you get a switchboard that does not seem connected to the hotel, and when I called with a question it took about ten minutes to convince them that I indeed had a reservation. Maybe a negative. There are some one star reviews on this hotel that seem to make credible complaints (e.g., not complaints made by Karens or by those who expect too much). I did not encounter any troubles, but maybe a few unlucky visitors do. read more

Stayed here again...the place continues to impress. Funky, clean, big rooms. And the doormen are the nicest people ever! I didn't catch his name but he was on around 11 am today...thank you for your kindness and smile. read more

Clean hotel & hotel room, with courteous staff & a nice restaurant. The location was not so desirable, I couldn't find a nice path to the convention center from this location. read more
