Stopped by Ugly Mug for a quick brunch on our way back to Georgia. Plenty of parking. The cafe is cute, cozy and has ample indoor seating. They have a collection of different mugs displayed on one side of the cafe, which you can see through a big glass window. The staff was very friendly and patient as I asked many questions. My son and I finally decided on the following: Honey cinnamon oat milk latte $4.25+ Full moon frappe (decaf) $5.70 Veggie quiche $5.49 Lemon blueberry biscuit $3.25 Flatbread pizza The drinks were excellent. My latte had the perfect cinnamon and honey ratio. The food was really good, but I found the quiche to be a bit salty and the pizza a little greasy. We still enjoyed them nonetheless, especially the lemon blueberry biscuit. It was a nice breakfast dessert! Would definitely stop if I drive through Lenoir City again. read more

It was an ugly muggy day, so naturally I decided to try Ugly Mug. The Ugly Mug coffee company apparently roasts its own beans so I tried one of their own. One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready and away I went to order the Blue Suede Macchiato (shoes not included). I really enjoyed the creamy blend with a bit of a banana flavor to it. I'd be interested in trying some of their their roasts in future. Nice to have a "local" coffee shop with good service in Lenoir City. read more

Super cute spot in the middle of downtown Lenoir City. I have visited a few times but haven't had a memorable experience in regard to the coffee or food here - I do remember all the mugs (yes, some pretty ugly ones!) that decorate the space and thought that was pretty fun. My son really loved looking at all of them (ok I need to go back at give them another try!). Ample places to sit with a small group or around the windows to look out and people watch in the street. I've been here countless time and this used to be my favorite spot. The coffee taste and quality has gone down in the last two years, and today when I got my drink it tasted sour and bitter like Starbucks coffee-- nothing like the Ugly Mug coffee I had been previously used to. Maybe the machine needs cleaning? I don't know. It doesn't even seem like the recipes are the same because it tastes like a completely different drink. Very disappointed. I have to strongly disagree that the long waits are due to being busy or staff issues. We have been the only ones there and it still takes forever and you have 3or 4people behind the counter. This is not an isolated experience. Please use this as a tool to better your business, not deride the patron who commented, as I have seen you do to other patrons. Oh snap. There is a new coffee shop in town and it's GOOOOD! You can't miss it from the road. The bright blue colored walls gives the historic downtown a much-needed VIBRANT uplift. If you haven't passed through downtown lately, you'll be heading down here soon. I promise. You won't be able to resist the OUTDOOR PATIO and DELICIOUS COFFEE. Their specialty drinks are outstanding. The FULL MOON LATTE is my favorite. MMMMMM! It's a mix of buttery and chocolate and just enough whipped cream. The beans are roasted in Memphis where Ugly Mug originally calls home. But truly, this is a FAMILY OPERATION, folks. They also have bagels and pastries available. For lunch you can order flatbreads or paninis or wraps. Jessie at the register will help you decide because EVERYTHING is great. And affordable. As part of the local REVITALIZATION project, Ugly Mug gives the neighborhood a much-needed hangout space too. They haven't even had their official grand opening yet and this coffee shop has people pouring in from all over. I met a friend here and the food was a real surprise. I got the Cuban sandwich and she got the avocado toast, both were really really good!

Customer service leaves something to be desired, but coffee is on point. I greeted the batista with a "Good morning, how are you?" She said nothing. I thanked her (and tipped) Nothing. When they called out my drink, I thanked the other batista who made it. She said nothing. As for the coffee, it was delicious. However, I won't be back. I can order McDonald's coffee for cheaper and not have to leave my car. Ugly Mugs does have a drive thru in the back. read more

We were in town for a family function and decided to stop by for some breakfast. Sweet little dive coffee shop with homemade breakfast egg, bacon, cheese sandwiches and bagels. The place was clean and cozy. We love supporting small, local businesses, especially when two friendly faces greeted us with smiles as we walked in. The food was delicious. I stopped in with my family for a morning coffee based on my wife's recommendation as she had frequented Ugly Mug several times and raved about their coffee drinks and food offerings. For this visit, no food, only drinks were ordered. A hot coffee for me, iced coffee for my wife, and a water for our 4 year old daughter. Upon walking in, I was met with silence and stood at the front counter awkwardly waiting for someone to acknowledge my existence. Most establishments are working beyond their means, ok fine. I specifically asked for a water cup with lid and straw for my toddler who would have to manage with it in her car seat. The cashier then proceeds to charge me for the water. Confused, I asked why and was told due to supply issues, the larger cups that take the lids were a cost issue for the store. Ok, so my toddler's drinking habits are not UM's problems, the same way their supply-chain issues are not mine...I get that. However, once receiving the water, I was then handed a water fountain style cup, too small for any lid and a straw and given a wink. I was then told that "it would come with free refills". Then, upon paying for our coffee's, I was asked if I wanted to leave a tip. This basically put me on the spot and I still tipped...but only because I had not received our coffees yet. Every encounter with staff was rude or unprofessional. Experience aside, the coffee was average at best and way too sweet. It tasted more like a runny milkshake than a coffee. No hint of espresso was left after everything else was mixed in. The 1 star is for the time and money saved from me ever revisiting after my first time. I've never experienced anything like it from a small town. Small, independent coffee shops are warm and inviting, not being made to feel like I am a burden on their responsibilities. read more

I have to admit, Ugly Mug took me by surprise. I got a cold brew with sugar free vanilla and it taste great! The cold brew had a full body flavor which has been traditionally hard to find at other coffee shops around. They were quick and happy to give suggestions. It has outside seating when it is warm enough and plenty of seating inside for gathering with friends or getting a little work done. I can't wait to return and get a bag of beans to bring home. The coffee was okay, a bit too sweet for my liking. I do like the food items especially the paninis. What bothered me is being asked for a tip. I was told told that there were 20+ patrons that day that "paid it forward" and wanted to know if I would keep it going by paying for our drinks, as well as the patrons behind us. Then asked if we would like to leave a tip too. I am all about paying it forward and have done this several times, but when did it become practice to ask the patron to purchase their food and someone else's? And then asked to leave a tip? It really put me off to this establishment. read more
