My daughter got the shrimp dinner. I tried one of the shrimps and it was a little dry. My mom got the teriyaki chicken dinner and enjoying it. My Dad got the chicken katsu and liked it. So it's a little interesting in the sense that it's about 80% there, the broths are generally good but there's non-ramen toppings like wood fungus and beansprouts. Does not come with seaweed. The pork was a little too fatty. Also it was weird, but both my husband and I became extremely gassy for a few hours after eating this and we think it's the noodle or soup, haha! I have mixed feelings about this place but was overall pretty disappointed. I wanted ramen and the pictures here looked really good. Currently they have some indoor and outdoor seats but you do have to order first at the counter. I don't mind this at all but their menu is pretty extensive and it was my first time here. The staff didn't offer to help or explain anything, they just stared at us while we looked at the menu. I ordered the black garlic ramen, the bbq chicken and beef plate and the tonkotsu. First off, our food smelled so good. However, I thought the ramens were really lacking in flavor. The broths were super light and watery. My broth barely tasted like garlic. It did come with cooked garlic cloves, but the broth did not taste like garlic. I got it spicy and it was not spicy, but the spice had a distinct szechuan like flavor, not at all typical for ramen. Also, the noodles were soggy. No chew to it at all. On the bright side it came with corn lol. The best part of the meal was the bbq plate. The chicken and beef were cooked well and really flavorful. The mac salad was good. However, they don't allow substitutions like other Hawaiian bbq places do in the area. Bummer. Overall, their bbq is better than their ramen and they do offer a variety of different foods, but I would skip their ramen. read more

Yummmm!!! Well, I found this place by mistake, and after reading the reviews I figured I would try it out. Listening to the other fellow yelpers I decided I would get the Hawaiian BBQ, and it's is delish! The first time I came here I got the chicken teriyaki mini for around $8 and it was more than enough food. I gave the left overs to my partner, and he said, " it was good, I wanted more." so today I got him his own meal and another mini for myself. I order the grilled squid. Exactly what I wanted and expected. I'd order it again. The sauce was some kind of teriyaki. I had the tonkotsu ramen spicy. It was okay. I liked the broth and making it spicy was even better. I wasn't a fan of the noodles. It felt like it was spaghetti noodles. I kept eating only because of the soup. I wish I could say the same with the noodles. I wonder if there is a way they can cook the egg with less time when they know it's a delivery order. Pros: Cleanliness. Brought out the food fast. Barely anyone inside during lunch hours. Cons: Ordered the Black Garlic and it came out to $17. That is super expensive for a mediocre ramen. The broth wasn't mind blowing, it was just...eh. Not even ok, just...eh. The noodles weren't even al dente, the cook pulled it out way too soon leaving a not so chewy bite. The kashu pork came out dry, leaving me to believe it was either frozen or 2+days in the fridge. Egg was not runny like how it is suppose to be, the yolk was almost cooked all the way. Not authentic Japanese nor is it ran by a Japanese(I could be wrong). You could hear them speaking Chinese leaving me to believe again, these are just restaurants that are ran by non Japanese just trying to cash grab an idea. You'll see a lot these types of restaurants around the Bay Area. People with bad taste buds or no idea of authenticity fall for it. It's so bad, they trying to add Hawaiian food to the mix. That to me is just desperation because the entirety is not authentic, not even fusion. Don't get me wrong, there's always that one exception that can do it better, this isn't one of them. Fairly standard for an unagi bowl. Tasted pretty good, the unagi was soft and melted in your mouth. - grilled whole squid - 5 stars - definitely worth it! A ton of food, was a bit drenched in teriyaki sauce (fairly sweet), but you do still get that good charred flavor from the grill. - BBQ short ribs - 5 stars - We liked this too! The short ribs are a little fatty, but isn't that why you order beef short ribs?? We thought it was flavorful and delicious. Veggies were right below the ribs, so any extra flavors and juices were soaked up by the veggies. Very generous portions! We have enough food for at least another meal. It's been maybe two years since I last visited this location; prices have slightly increased but the food here is still a deal. Fountain drinks are still $1.99, but the cup size has been reduced. The Hawaiian bbq is fire. The reviews here are spot on. The ramen is definitely sub par. The eggs are also no longer soft boiled, they are hard boiled. The hawaiian BBQ plate & spam musubi was a very sizable portion, the food tasted good but was very mild, it was hard to detect any actual flavor on the beef and chicken. With hawaiian BBQ, typically you're looking for strong flavors to eat on plain rice but the beef and chicken missed the mark. Spam musubi has a very large amount of rice so that was interesting but it didn't taste bad.
