It was still very peaceful and quiet during lunchtime on a Friday holiday long weekend. French music in the background is great for the mood. Cute decors hanging on walls are still original. This old place has good varieties of food plates/noodle bowls/appetizers/specials to choose from. You can still have Cordon Bleu if you want. We had simple Pho bowls for lunch inside. $16.99 per bowl: Pho Beef & Pho Chicken. Wow, the bowl size and noodle soup portions were huge! Yes, you're getting enough meats and noodles here for $16.99 per bowls. Veggies were fresh too. Soup base for both bowls were excellent in flavors. Chicken white meat was boneless. Authentic Vietnamese. The food experience turned out much better than my last visit years ago. Nice improvement. I would consider eating here again. Male staff seems to be a new guy I haven't seen before. He was pretty much our greeter, server, cashier, coordinator, clearing the dining tables, etc. You may have to wave him down when ready to pay or just walk to the front counter. This dining experience was really great. The only downside was that the restaurant did not have the air conditioning on, which made the overall dining experience quite hot. Other than that, the beef Vietnamese pho I ordered today was absolutely delicious. The broth was very refreshing, and the price was also very reasonable. After the meal, they even gave me a tasty orange. I'm giving them a five-star rating this time. My family always came here to eat and today was so disappointing. The place is not even that busy, when i sat down and ordered everything done then the table across walked in. Still waiting for our foods and they brought out the foods for the table across first same kind of food as our table. It was Valentine's, I wanted to take my wife to a nice French restaurant but one of the reservation failed through, luckily I remembered this place that I took my girlfriend (my wife) 22 years ago. We both remembered this place, we didn't know it's still there after all these years since we never came back after we got married and moved. The Google booking system is amazing, we got our confirmation right away. My wife was happy to come back to our first date years ago. The restaurant is small, plenty of parking spaces, we came early because we went straight after work, we found the parking right away. This is called French VN fusion restaurant, it's kinda like our favorite Le Colonial in SF but closed after 26 years in business. We've been in Paris and tried quite a few restaurant there, we like escargots, steaks and ducks, but we still think the fusion restaurants taste as good or better. The service here is so attentive, pleasant and happy, we liked it right away after all these years. The decor is quite nice IMHO, quite simple and not very pretentious. So, French restaurant the escargots are a must, this place doesn't use the whole snails instead using the out-of-shell meats, with a little bread in a cup, kinda different. The important thing is the tastes, the meat is quite soft and flavorful, we both liked them very much. The bread dipped in the sauce is quite tasty. Everywhere we went, we love crispy calamari, and this place is excellent, the calamari is crispy but the meat is tender, the sauce are just plain tartar and cocktail sauce, they should make their own special sauce for this then it would be better. We finished these in a heartbeat. The salad is included which is nice. The dressing is just right, I think it has a touch of fish sauce in it, very nice. The main course, the #15 and #16 that we can hear people are ordering. we order both because we forgot what we ordered 22 years ago LOL. Actually both sauces are almost tasted the same, but my wife thought her pepper corn sauce tasted better than my Mushroom sauce. My wife likes the hot crunchy bread and butter instead of my red rice. They're both excellent eating with our sauces. The steak is tender and does have texture, it's the sauce that counts. The prices here are quite reasonable. We will come back here again to try different dishes when we're craving for another romantic outing event. It's not just the restaurant, it's how we love each other. Hands-down to the best French Vietnamese cuisine in Milpitas. We visited Chez Christina last week, and we had an outstanding experience. We tried these several dishes: 1. Chicken wing. These chicken wings are so flavorful and not to mention very crispy. 2. Vietnamese beef stew. You can either have bread or pasta or rice. We opted to have it with bread. The stew was so flavorful, but they could put more pieces of meat. Nevertheless it was one of the most delicious Vietnamese beef stew I've ever had. 3. Sizzling beef plate. The steak was served with sausage, pate and fried egg. The steak was marinated with the sauce and it was so delicious. The combination of the steak and the pate dip with the fried egg was beyond delicious. 4. French onion soup. The soup was so delightful. It made a great appetizer. 5. Roasted hen and tomato rice. If you're looking for a delicious roasted chicken, you need to try their signature roasted chicken, it's crispy juicy and for the price you pay, you'll be satisfied. we ended the whole dinner with dessert, which were pandan, jelly drink, or che and flan. The side salad came with the bo ne and was fresh, with Italian dressing in a small bottle. I would have preferred of the bottle was a bit cleaner. The steak was quite over cooked, not really favored for tenderized at all. The sausage was low quality grocery store hot dog. I got my plate with banh mi, and my fiance got his with red rice. The rice was dry but seasoned OK. The baguette was warm and freshly toasted, but you really need to ration how you eat it as it's kind of small. I went to this restaurant for Mother's Day, and all of the workers were incredibly kind, especially one woman who would say "hello, hello" to everyone who entered and while serving food. It made the atmosphere feel so welcoming and genuine. We ordered the calamari, pho, and steak, and everything was absolutely delicious. The aroma of the steak was rich and savory, and the flavor was just as amazing so I highly recommend you to order. The calamari and pho were also very fresh and tasty. We had our choice of round tables, which gave us enough comfort space and room for a lot of dishes, if we chose. We started with the crispy calamari, $12.95 and an order of spring rolls, $9.95. Both dishes were delicious. The calamari came out hot and tender. I wish tentacles were included in this dish but nope. The spring rolls were very nice but my friend said the peanut sauce was spicy (and she can't do spicy hot.) Our entrees included Asparagus & Crab soup, $14.95, Korean BBQ Beef w/rice, $18.95, Chicken Curry w/rice, $16.95, and Crunchy fried noodle w/fresh seafood, $17.95, and stir-fried seafood Chow fun, $17.95. I wish I had discovered Chez Christina sooner! I tried it for the first time last month, and I've already been back twice. It's a nice cozy spot that never disappoints, with great food and service. My favorite dish here is the Filet Mignon with Bacon and Mushroom Sauce (#20 on the menu) -- it completely exceeded my expectations the first time I tried it, so I've ordered this each time I've come! The flavors are incredible, and the filet mignon is perfectly tender. I also really like the Korean BBQ Beef with Rice (#32 on the menu) and the flavor of the accompanying kimchi. Stick with their rice plates and steaks. Their fried chicken appetizer is yummy - Vietnamese inspired of course so if you don't like fish sauce in your fried chicken, this may not be the dish for you, but it is the perfect texture and the sauce is delicious. It's been years since I last came here. It's such a nostalgic feeling, just seeing the same French-style tables, soft jazz music, and wall decorations makes you feel at home. I read some negative reviews, and they mentioned the service was slow, but they don't realize this is a family-owned business. Please understand that they have been open and operated for years now. We celebrated the Lunar New Year at Chez Christina. By the time we arrived, there were at least two family parties celebrating there. The menu is indeed more fusion than French/Vietnamese. We sticked with/ Imperial rolls for appetizer, but chose various dishes to try out. The stir fried beef w/ Spanish rice was served with lukewarm temperature. Same as the grilled pork in vermicelli(the pork should be right off the grill). The crunchy fried noodle w/ fresh seafood was on the salty side. Thai ice tea and hot jasmine tea were fine. The imperial rolls were tasty but the cilantro was missing from the greens. So what can I say? The atmosphere was still elegant, but the cuisines were not quite the same. They were flavorful and cooked nicely. The red rice was good with the meat. The noodles were a bit bland though. Saw that they included a new chicken cordon bleu dish on their menu so we ordered that along with the Korean short ribs, calamari, and roasted Cornish Hen. We will not be coming here ever again. I made a reservation for 2 tonight as a birthday dinner for my father, and it was so disappointing. We got seated but no one came to our table for over 30 minutes to take our order (no one brought water either) so we finally flagged someone down. My father ordered the filet mignon but was never asked how he would like to have the steak done. I ordered the beef stew. Over another half an hour goes by before I flag down another server to ask the status of our food. By the time we got our food it was about 90 minutes after we were seated. The worst part was after the long wait.... half of my father's steak was actually cold & raw while the other half was medium rare so we're not sure how they would cook it where it would be unevenly cooked.... Same thing with my stew where it seemed like someone just threw in raw chunks of potatoes and carrots into the stew and served it like that (they were still very hard and you can taste the raw bitterness of the potato) We skipped deer and left as soon as we could.
