    complimentary banchan
    Melissa N.

Not too crowded for a weekday lunch. Got the seafood tofu soup and it was tasty and hot. Clams were shelled already but had to shell the shrimp. Came with a huge portion of banchan for us to share which included japchae, cold tofu, kimchi, and fish cakes. Was so tasty we were worried we'd get full before the tofu soup came out. 10/10 will definitely have to come back

Gopchang Soondubu Done Right I drive from San Francisco for this bowl. Not for hype. Not for novelty. For proper gopchang soondubu (beef intestine soft tofu stew). Most places lose before the first bite. You look at the gopchang and already know - too cleaned, too flat, no aroma, no structure. Safe. Sanitized. SGD in Milpitas doesn't do that. The Gopchang This is what matters. * Full shape * Slight crisp edge * Interior dense and creamy * Real intestine flavor intact When you bite through it, there's that clean snap 》 then a soft, rich bloom inside. That flavor release is what people forget gopchang is supposed to do. And they give you enough. Not decorative. Not symbolic. Order Medium or Higher Mild is polite. Medium (or above) is correct. The spice doesn't mask the beef intestine - it sharpens it. Capsaicin + rendered fat = amplified aroma. That's when the stew becomes layered instead of just "spicy tofu soup." Purple Rice Matters This Milpitas location serves purple multigrain rice, and that detail changes everything. The chew balances the richness. The nuttiness cuts the fat. The texture keeps the meal structured. If you're searching for "best gopchang soondubu Milpitas" - this is the bowl. Consistency I've lost count of how many times I've ordered the same thing here. Every time: * Broth has body * Tofu stays silky * Gopchang keeps structure * Flavor remains stable That kind of repeatability is harder than it looks. Service Yes, there's usually a wait. Yes, it moves. Owner is often on the floor checking tables. Staff is efficient, not theatrical. If you come enough, they remember your order. That says something. Final Word Bay Area Korean tofu soup is everywhere. But if you want gopchang soondubu with real beef intestine flavor, correct texture, proper spice balance, and purple rice pairing - this is the one I make the drive for. - Dr. C Precision Appetite SF 》Milpitas (for gopchang)

I love SGD tofu! I have gone to this location and others many times. The most recent time, my friend and I came at opening on a Saturday. We were seated immediately. Food: The tofu soup is always good, no matter you which you get for your preference. The last time my friend and I also shared the tteokbokki. It was pretty standard, but good. They also have separate ban chan for vegetarians. That was very thoughtful. Service: Service was quick and friendly. As always, the tofu soup comes out pretty fast after ordering. TL;DR - Delicious tofu soup you can't go wrong

It was my first time dining at this location and wished I'd dine here sooner. The restaurant is spacious, tables aren't too close to each other. A staff greets you and you can sit wherever unless the restaurant is busy. There are physical menus available. It was a hot day so opted for a bibimbap pork bowl. It was a hefty serving with decent portions of pork, veggies and rice. It came out really hot, which allowed the rice to be super crispy, my favorite. The egg was slightly overcooked. The banchan came out first and it was a good serving for my party of four. Two plates of banchans were served, so we didn't have to share. It had kimchi, fish cake, mung beans and silken tofu. Staff went around to refill our waters a couple of times. Great place for large groups.

SGD Tofu House is a favorite of my family, they're great takeout wise and dine in! We decided to dine in this time. While the parking lot was a little busy near the restaurant, there's still ample parking for the whole plaza. We came in around 11:30am on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all! Things definitely picked up throughout the lunchtime though. The restaurant itself is small and simple, and had a mom and pop feel to it. The food itself is delicious! The banchan that comes at the beginning had yummy and fresh tasting dishes, our favorites are the fish cake and the bean sprout kimchi. I got the beef tofu soup with medium spice and it was delicious! It was spicy enough and very flavorful. The portion was a lot for me, so I took some home too. Definitely one of my favorite spots of Korean food, especially when you're in the mood for a warm and hearty soup!

It's been a hot minute since I've been back here (last time was 2022!) but was craving it a lot. Came on a Saturday night at 8pm and to my surprise, the restaurant was pretty empty (was always packed when I came years ago). The lot is huge, so it's easy to find parking. We were seated quickly, and service was quick. I always get the tofu soup here, but I decided to switch it up on a hot summer day. I opted for the naengmyeon (cold noodles). My friends ordered two tofu soups though, and I have to say - I'm surprised at the changes. In the past, when you ordered tofu soup, each order gets their own individual bento box with side dishes. Now, they give you one singular side dish box in the middle of the table. Don't get me wrong, they still pack the side dishes to the brim with generous amounts, but this change in general surprised me. The side dishes were still delicious as usual though! The naengmyeon was a huge portion, which is nice considering it's $21. The dish came out with a refreshing broth -- plenty of ice chunks in the broth. Super tangy and the perfect balance of sweetness. The noodles were incredibly chewy. The galbi was cooked perfectly, and the radishes were a great addition. Such a satisfying bowl - I'm glad I tried this instead of my typical tofu soup order! This will definitely be my go-to dish in the summers going forward.

    Korean Cold Noodles

Went recently and the food was subpar. The Korean cold noodles had too much ice in it and was given two small pieces of meat. The rice was too mushy and threw off the whole taste for the tofu soup. The seafood tofu soup had waaaay too many bits of shrimp antennas. Had to pick the pieces out and some were stuck in the tofu. The soup was barely boiling so it barely cooked my egg. It was almost if they had a large pot of soup and just transferred it into a smaller bowl for serving. This was my go to spot after the mall but this time was disappointing. The only positive note was the server was very nice. Hope things can improve for this location.

In the year 2025 in a major metropolitan area, there are certain aspects of life that we take for granted, that were not always the case: the internet will be fast enough to stream videos, the air quality is usually good, and if one orders seafood at a restaurant, it is not coming out of a can. But every so often, something comes along to remind us that these luxuries are not guaranteed. Ordering the combination soft tofu seemed like a safe bet. Unfortunately, the unmistakable flavour of canned (or otherwise not freshly prepared) seafood (shrimp, scallop, and clams) contaminated the entire dish. It must have been years since the last time I was surprised by canned seafood at a restaurant, so infrequent is this the case that the thought never even crossed my mind while ordering. Conversely, the bibimbap was acceptable, if unexceptional. The side dishes are very generously served, and the noodles are excellent.

The side dishes were a meal in itself practically! Lots of japchae and fish cake. I ordered the cold noodles and it came with some short rib on top. I've never seen that before. It was a good meal but I prefer other places for good side dishes and the cold noodle dish.

We liked the food, especially the hot tofu soup. The ban chan that starts us is tasty. Service is quick with taking our order and providing our needs. The restaurant is bright and clean.

Getting tofu soup here always hits the spot!!! It's a casual place and always a smooth experience. I got the beef tofu soup with medium spice. The beef, tofu, and mushrooms were all pretty balanced amounts and they were solid! The soup was super flavorful and addicting. I'm gonna try an even spicer one next time because it wasn't that spicy and I like my food spicier. The side dishes were so good! I love the tofu and fish cakes the best. Wasn't expecting the side dishes to come in one plastic tray, I'm used to them coming in little metal bowls, maybe cause I haven't been here in a while. I guess it saves space and is more convenient. Servers were quick and friendly! I'd definitely come back here again.

Food is so yummy! This place is a Milpitas classic and my favorite Korean restaurant in the area. Their food has a very mom-and-pop shop vibe and tastes great. My fav is their mackerel and the spicy rice cakes! Their kimchi is on the spicier side. Service was good. It was a busy Friday night but the employees were very quick and on top of it. Atmosphere is very casual and a good spot to catch up with friends. Its very homey!

The banchan variety is actually really good, which is a highlight for me, though the kimchi isn't my favorite. My personal go-tos are the Korean jelly (muk muchim), broccoli, tomato, and macaroni salad. I'd honestly come back just for the banchan spread. That said, for the price, the main dishes are just okay. One big plus: they serve purple rice, which I always appreciate. Service has been very hit or miss. Sometimes they're friendly and accommodating, but my last visit really threw me off. We asked for a refill on the muk muchim, and our server said they were "sold out"... but then the table next to us was immediately served it. I'd honestly rather they just say no than give an excuse like that.. it left a bad impression and made the experience feel off. A few thoughts on the dishes: * Budae Jjigae - A bit bland for my taste, heavy on kimchi and light on meats like spam, sausage, and bacon. * Galbitang - Light yet flavorful, with 3 large rib bones that had a good amount of meat. Comes with glass noodles, rice cakes, and thin egg strips * Japchae - Not complimentary here (you have to order it), but it's actually pretty good. * Seafood tofu soup - Just okay, nothing too memorable. * Galbi - Flavorful and reliable--can't go wrong, especially with purple rice. * Mul Naengmyeon - Refreshing and well done. * Seafood pancake - Crispy, not overly oily, and packed with seafood and green onions. * Bibimbap - Loved the crispy rice at the bottom, though the beef portion was a bit small. * Yukgaejang - Decent, but not as rich or flavorful as other spots. Overall, I'd say this place shines most in its banchan variety and comfortable dining space, but the inconsistency in both food and service makes it a bit harder to fully recommend

Wait a few minutes and let the rice cook more because the stone bowl is still hot. lift up the bottom until you see crunchy bits and then you could start mixing. Excellent mix of seasoned vegetables and rice. They give you the gochujang bottle sauce on the side. you can adjust it to your level. Soon Tofu Soup 5/5. I've had a lot of tofu soup of what I like about this one is that it had a good balance of tofu, kimchi was not super sour like some restaurants and they give you an egg on the side. Very clean finish. Banchan 5/5: The highlight for me was the banchan. I went with a very picky eater friend and she really loved the kimchi ,the cucumber kimchi ,the fish cakes, japchae. They put a lot of effort into making the banchan - which I recognize right away. They also fill up if you run out and the dishes are larger than normal restaurants. Amazing. You read my mind. Interior 4/5: It is a smaller, more intimate seating.( about 25-30 people) . It still has the vibes of of a Korean eatery with K-pop music playing on the TV screen, wooden benches and chairs. You'll have to wait a bit if you go during peak hours and parking is a bit difficult. I suggest going within the first hour they open up when there's less crowds.

We waited until 5:20 and they still weren't serving, so we ended up leaving. Our most recent visit was the last straw. They only offered two types of banchan (not even kimchi), and they were out of all dishes that included meat or beef. It was surprising for a Korean restaurant to not have Korean BBQ or short ribs available. My seafood tofu soup barely had any seafood, and I had to point out to the waiter that there was no shrimp at all. He later returned with a cheap frozen seafood mix and said they use a seafood mix, which was disappointing considering the higher quality seafood they used to serve (including head-on shrimp). They also did not serve the usual purple rice this time -- instead we were given dry white rice that seemed reheated. There was only one server handling all the tables and cleaning, so service was slow. It's disappointing because the quality used to be much better.
