I came here for the bún riêu, and it did not disappoint. The rice vermicelli noodle soup was filled with crab, pork blood, Vietnamese ham, shrimp, and tofu in a tomato based broth that was savory and well-balanced. The flavors all came together well and nothing tasted fishy or overpowered by the tomatoes. I also ordered spring rolls, and loved how bouncy and fresh the rice wrapper was. It had that just-made texture that makes a big difference. Service was friendly and there is plenty of parking. Overall solid spot if you want to try something different!

This is one of the Vietnamese restaurants that serve Bun Rieu and they made a good tasty one . Bun Rieu is a noodle soup in Tomato base broth with crab and shrimp paste . It also has pork blood ( optional) , slice of pork ham , pork meatballs, prawn , tofu , fresh tomatoes, etc . The shedded cabbage and bean sprouts are on the side for you to add to the boiling hot soup . Pho Nguyen made their Bun Rieu so tasty and the broth are rich in flavors. The size is enormous. I could only finish half and take half home . The crab and shrimp paste ( with eggs scrambled) are so delicious and they gave me three big chunks of it ! I tried other dishes like grilled steak and tomato rice , lemon grass pork chop , crispy spring rolls, beef pho , etc . They are all delicious Not too many places know how to make the authentic Bun Rieu . I love to come here and order the same dish over and over again !

#47 Grilled Shrimp, Pork & Eggroll with Vermicelli & Salad

Came here for lunch last Wednesday a little after noon. They're quite busy but we didn't have to wait for a table. Service was friendly and the food came out fast and hot. I was craving for bun rieu and saw a couple of reviews claiming that Pho Nguyen had the best in the Bay Area. While I wouldn't say they're the best, their broth was indeed very flavorful with a strong tomato taste. Not sure if they used MSG, though. The accompanying plate of herbs, bean sprouts, cabbage was fresh. My husband enjoyed his grilled shrimp, pork and eggroll vermicelli as well. Portions were huge and we both left stuffed.

Had my standard dish that I order at Vietnamese restaurants: vermicelli with pork and shrimp and eggrolls. Really big serving here and there were generous amounts of the proteins and egg rolls. Plenty of fish sauce provided too and it came quickly. Service was efficient and it was a pretty typical setting - no frills but just fine. As far as taste, I'd give it a 4/5 - good, but not quite as tasty as the best I've had. But because the portions were so generous, I'm still comfortable giving it a full five stars.

Com Bo Luc Lac w/ brown sauce and green onion soup

By far my favorite spot for com bo luc lac (shaken beef and rice) now!! The staff were very welcoming to us, including my small dog. It feels like your usual mom and pop viet restaurant with the casual decor and loud convos. FOOD: *Com bo luc lac: The meat was so fresh!!! None of that extra starch slurry or baking soda wash. They cook it so well that each cube is tender, medium rare-medium perfection. Can be eaten with or w/o the sauce on the side because it's that good! Honestly the only critique I have is that the edges of the rice dome or on the drier side, but it's fine if you add a spoonful of the green onion side soup! I appreciate how they chopped the lettuce into smaller pieces so it doesn't go to waste as a plating veggie. Also, it wasn't oily yay!! All of the vegetables were standard, but my other big takeaway? Portion size is amazing! Wait time for our 3 dishes and coffee was 15-20min and the place was busy! Def coming back here for weekend brunch again :) Random side note, but their tea (served in coffee to-go cups) is pretty good too. PARKING: Not hard to find parking if you go towards the jang su jang/goodwill side of the plaza. We went during weekend lunch hour and the Paris baguette side was packed!

We enjoyed our meal here! The vermicelli was solid -- the egg rolls were crispy and filled. The shrimp was grilled well. 8/10 The pho was also pretty tasty , the broth was hearty and there was enough protein. Parking was a bit tough to find in the lot.

Bun Bo Hue with a ton of meat and pork blood
    AiFen S.

When the weather is cold and my coworkers want pho, we like ordering from here as their fresh noodles and broth appease most of us. I have tried their bun bo hue as well which fulfills the craving when I'm feeling under the weather. I have also enjoyed their vermicelli salad bowls before. I recently tried their shrimp tempura, and that is now my new favorite dish to get as it is fried so well. The fish sauce dip complements it well, and if I heat up my own rice I have a fulfilling meal.

Prices were reasonable and portions were generous but the food was not very good. The pros besides value include convenient location, lots of options on the menu, and space / no wait unlike the ramen place nearby. The main con was that the food didn't taste great ie the pork was dry.

    Cynthia W.

Food was great. I was starving so I got the rice plate with everything on it lol. The pork was tender and nicely flavored. Shredded pork was a bit too dry. Service: quick fast-paced place. Typical pho place. Ambiance: lots of tables inside. Parking can be difficult given there are multiple popular restaurants in the plaza.

Its my favorite spot and I had such fond memories going here for phở and bánh kẹp lá dứa as a child. I tried something different this time and I think it is very quality. Its just like homemade. 10/10!

Food: The best Vietnamese place around the area. I've been here more than 3 times and will definitely come back for more! The Bun is very filling as the restaurant is very generous with the toppings. Service: regular viet place standard; pay at the cashier! Ambiance: Casual and homey

Combo Vermicelli #47 $16 as of Jan 2025 (lots of veggies underneath) - hella good tbh best vermicelli I've had in South Bay

It was small, so I ordered a bowl of rice and that took about 10 mins to serve, much longer than it took to get the BBH to begin with. Then when it was time to leave, there was no one to be found. Yes, it's definitely worth going to if you've never had Vietnamese beef 7 ways or baked catfish…read more There's not many of these types of restaurants around. General for celebratory reasons and it originated from the south as well. You can find many other Vietnamese cuisine out there, but unless you have a bigger Vietnamese population, this is a much more rare find. So when our friend from NY was visiting for Fanime, we had to get this. Though, I will say this to start with, nothing can ever beat my dear Thien An Bo 7 Mon from SoCal. I'm biased and I'm not afraid to say it, but I know that NorCal is lacking in many ways and with that in mind, it makes sense that the prices are higher (rent and costs of operation are much higher in NorCal, I'm sure) and the other differences as well. Regardless, the service was attentive and welcoming and they even chased my bf outside to his car when he foolishly left his card in the restaurant. There is a policy that the 7 course beef is 1 order per person and minimum 2 orders. I have not seen that in SoCal and they let us grossly share 1 order between 3 people, but things might have changed. With that in mind, 2 orders split between 3 people was more than enough. For drinks, my boyfriend got some local brewed IPA and when I sent my dad the picture (he's a Viet refugee), he immediately got triggered by the year that was on the can before I explained to him the origins that were on the label. I got a soda chanh muoi (salted lemon sparkling water and you pour the sparkling soda water from a cold can yourself into the mix in a glass). Refreshing and a sharp salty sour bite in between courses. The 7 course beef came as it would any other restaurant that does it: 1) Goi Bo (House Special Beef Salad) 2) Bo Nhung Dam (Beef in Wine Vinegar Fondue) -Not sure why it's translated this way but it's raw beef slices that have been seasoned in vinegar with some onions on top and you cook it in a hot pot broth. 3) Bo Cha Dum (Steamed Beef Patty) 4) Bo Cuon No Chai (Grilled Beef Sausages) 5) Bo Cuon La Lot (Beef wrapped in Lot leaf) -Easily the favorite of the table. You can never go wrong with leaf wrapped meats as you can see that it is a worldwide dish and phenomenon regardless of the protein and the vegetation used. -Savory and a bit smoky with a kick from the leaves. Good stuff. 6) Bo Nuong Xa (Beef roll with onion and lemon grass) 7) Chao Bo (Beef porridge) - the version I had in SoCal had cute beef alphabet and star pasta soup and I'm not the biggest fan of porridge so this was just okay to me. All the beef was seasoned well and moist, not too dry or tough. Definitely more than enough to share especially with the generous amount of rice paper and veggies to roll in. Again, just my qualm because I'll always compare every Viet 7 beef course with my OG in SoCal, but they had a vertical rice paper water rolling dish that made it easier to wet the rice paper without it getting soggy and without the water getting gross or the bowl taking up too much space. We additionally got vermicelli noodles to stuff our rolls too, which would have been nice to add a little bit of carbs into our meal, but if you're more into protein and veggies, this was good. Overall not bad and a must to try at least once.

They are perfectly fried without being too greasy, and tossed in a sweet and savory fish sauce glaze. The chicken was juicy too. Had to stop myself from eating too many of these or I wouldn't have touched my pho. Haha. The pho broth is very flavorful too, I only add the slightest hint of lime and it's perfect. I tried the brisket and other meats this time but they were pretty fatty -- I usually get the flap meat and will continue to stick to that. Other than that, it's a 10/10 pho spot and worth the wait. I came here on a Friday evening with my friend to grab dinner around 6:00 PM. The wait was around an hour, so be very prepared if you're coming during the dinner rush. This spot is located where the majority of the Asian restaurants are in Milpitas, so it's safe to say the parking can get a bit hectic and intense. The interior of the place is very bright, modern, and clean. There is a lot of seating for a small space, but the reason they are so busy has a lot to do with the number of people wanting to check this spot out. When you sit down, you scan their virtual menu via QR code and order there instead of through a server. You have the choice to order on one phone as a group or separately. Between my friend and me, we ordered a beef mint salad, fried tofu, confit mushrooms, and truffle mushroom rice. I will say that when we first got the fried tofu and confit mushrooms, we were quite surprised by the small portions compared to the price. That said, they were delicious, but skippable if you're trying to find the best bang for your buck. What I absolutely would recommend is their truffle mushroom fried rice. This might have been my best bite this month. It was so savory, the mushrooms hit perfectly, and the coating of butter on the rice was supreme. It was $28 for a bowl, but it was a good value to split between two people. Overall, this place had great, fast service (our food came out in under 10 minutes), a nice ambiance, and fresh, flavorful food.
