    Garlic ramen with miso broth
    Aye K.

Excited to find great ramen in Banff! The space is on the smaller side, and food takes awhile to arrive. But it was pretty delicious. You add your name to the waitlist and line up outside. We waited about 30 minutes on a weekday around 6pm. By the time we left, the line was about three times as long! I really enjoyed the garlic ramen with the miso broth. The garlic ramen is currently a special, and you can choose from miso, umami shio, shoyu, or tonkotsu broth. We also tried the arashi ramen, which had a classic tonkotsu flavor. The noodles were al dente, and the broths were flavorful without being overly rich or heavy. Overall, a great spot if you are craving ramen in Banff.

Here, you just line up and wait. There's no waitlist; you don't put your name down or anything. The inside is pretty small so only a few parties can sit at a time. It took us about 30 minutes to get seated. Once we got inside. It took about another 20 minutes for the food to come out. I got the black arashi. Overall there were a lot of flavors and they meshed pretty well.

Delicious ramen. Fast, friendly service. Restaurant is on the small side so expect a wait. I am gluten intolerant and was able to eat the miso ramen with rice noodles. My husband enjoyed the seafood ramen! Highly recommend!

Located inside the mall on the upper level. Short walk to get here around downtown. There's a line to be seated. Luckily we only waited 5 mins. They have fun stickers inside for $2 CAD. The servers were nice. The interior is small and you're seated closely to people. No restroom inside that I was aware of. The best part of the Tonkotsu Ramen was the egg. It had a nice soft texture. The taste was delicious. Good soy flavor without being a salt assault. The noodles reminded me of instant noodles. The soup was good. You'll be happy with the meal if you're really hungry.

Other than the kind service, I didn't enjoy this place. The ramen noodles weren't good, and clearly low quality noodles. The chicken in the karaage bowl were basically McDonald's chicken nugget quality and the egg rolls were nothing special. Given the positive reviews, I was a bit shocked by the quality of the food. Additionally, they wanted to charge another dollar and fifty cents for extra hot sauce, which is ridiculous given that the amount on the ramen was small to begin with. I would not recommend this place if you've had ramen elsewhere that you enjoy.

I went to this ramen place with my family during our Banff trip. The restaurant quite small with some regular tables and bar tables. I saw a long line after left. Their price were reasonable. The service was okay, they moved us to another table after 10 minutes we settled down, but understandable. I ordered the classic Arashi and it tasted great! The sesame base is not overpowering and the spices are just right! My sister ordered the yuzu ramen. It was okay. If you prefer rich soup base, then don't order it.

This is a small place but their food makes up for it. Got the Arashi Ramen and didn't regret it. We had to wait a bit cause it was busy but their service was pretty fast.

We decided to try this place after reading all the great reviews, though it was a little tricky to find, it's located upstairs inside the Sundance Mall complex. The restaurant is quite small, but the line moved fairly quickly. That said, by the time we left, the line had gotten even longer. To be honest, I'm not sure it fully lived up to the hype. We visited on a surprisingly warm day in July, and unfortunately, there was no air conditioning inside. It was uncomfortably hot, we were actually sweating while eating. I ordered the Arashi signature ramen while my husband opted for a rice bowl and a tofu salad since it was just too warm for soup. The food was okay, but nothing particularly memorable, though that could be because we're used to some pretty amazing ramen spots back home in LA.

Great service. The egg was very tasty. If you're looking for a warm bowl of ramen, this is a decent place. There's a good amount of tables so hopefully you won't have to wait long. It wasn't too loud here either despite the tables being close together. The restaurant wasn't too hard to find inside the mall either. I got the original tonkatsu ramen. I think next time I would choose a spicier option.

We got recommendations from everywhere for this ramen spot in Banff so we had to give it a try. Happy to say that it lived up to the hype! The ramen here was awesome, great portions, fresh ingredients and the broth was flavorful and rich. The noodles were delicious as well. Really liked their regular Ramen Arashi over the Arashi black even though both were good. Service was friendly and top notch as well. Recommend coming on the early side for dinner because once we were done there was a huge line!

Location - It's inside Sundance Mall. There's another one in another mall. That one is the "Express" version. Then, they also have a small hole-in-a-wall/kiosk type store on another location. The Vibe - Typical ramen place vibe. Service - Friendly enough. On time. We got served pretty quickly. Food came out in a good amount of time. Food - Here's the thing. I noticed that the food types and flavor profile between the food we found in Banff and food we would normally go out for at home are very similar. Nothing unique, is what I'm saying. BUT, as our trip was going on, I found this to be OK. Good, even. Because it was not difficult to find food that my daughter liked. For me, the ramen reminded me of home. Noodles were firm, not mushy. Broth was nice and thick, just how I like it. The flavor was good, in the sense that it was familiar. It's one of the things that makes me recommend Ramen Arashi as a good place for ramen, and Banff as a vacation spot for families. It's why I would go back.

This is a little ramen spot jammed into a pretty small space on the second floor of a shopping complex in Banff. There was a wait on the benches outside to be seated, but the line moved quickly and honestly that took me right back to waiting in line for ramen in Japan. Inside, the dining space is tight but tidy, and I heard a lot of Japanese in the air, which is always a good sign. All legitimate ramen spots have a specialty, so of course I ordered their signature dish, the Arashi. Very competent and tasty bowl that once again put me in mind of Japan as I was eating it. Held up well against the bowl I had at Ichiran in Kyoto. I liked the peanuts in this a lot more than I expected to and will probably have to steal that for my home version. Quick service and a fair price in a tourist-heavy area.

I really enjoyed the Ramen Arashi in Canmore that I had it again while staying in Banff. This location is located inside the mall and is just as small. There is no sign-up sheet. You just stay in line. I had the spicy tonkatsu and the takoyaki. The spicy tonkatsu had tonkatsu broth with spicy miso, pork belly, half an egg, seaweed, and garlic. It was a little spicy for me and I didn't even mixed all of the spicy miso in my broth. The pork belly was delicious and melt-in-your-mouth. It was delicious, but i prefer the arashi ramen I had before. The takoyaki wasn't cooked all the way through. One piece was still cold, but they remade it for me. Service was great. There is no bathroom inside. You have to go to the one in the mall, but that one was closed for cleaning when I went.

Average ramen. The gyoza appetizer I thought was better than the ramen itself. In general, the place was good but not worth the long wait.

By the time we were ready, it took a while to find someone to take our order. The most wanted item is sold out, a fact that they told us upon ordering. Will be appreciated if we know ahead of time so we have more time to consider 'back up item'. There was a table beside us (came after us) who also discussed about ordering same sold-out items, and I was very tempted to tell them that it's sold out. But I figure it's not my place to say because the restaurant must have its own reason for NOT telling this upfront!!?????!! Ordered pork belly skewer , shiitake skewer, shrimp in spicy peanut sauce, and aburi salmon handroll, miso creme brulee. Best items are the shrimp with spicy peanut sauce, and miso creme brulee. Just wow!! For the rest: -If u have eaten shiitake before (at home for example) , u know nothing can go wrong with shiitake as it's already flavorful in its own (safe choice). -Pork belly has good flavor but kinda too fatty (it is a totally different style from the one I usually eat at other places). -Aburi salmon handroll doesnt taste like aburi at all. Just normal handroll basically. Nth special. It was my friend's birthday, we asked if they hv noodle (considering we were farrr from home) and they said it's only available during lunch (which is understandable), but then nth else was done to help celebrate this moment when they hear this fact (simple smile or simple 'happy birthday' could be a gift in its own). Overall, food-wise, we agree on best item and that this place is kinda meh (in terms of food selection and feels like very few 'flavor-worthed' ones).

Char Siu Marinated Tofu ($4.44 CAD): They managed to perfectly capture the iconic sweet-and-savory flavor profile of Char Siu pork without any actual "porkiness." The tofu was beautifully firm, perfectly cooked, and thoroughly marinated inside and out. The Nourishment Bowl ($24.24 CAD): This bowl is large, and I paired it was the Char Siu Marinated Tofu. The brilliant addition of a subtle coconut cream, paired with roasted vegetables and quinoa, perfectly softened the rough texture of the raw shredded carrots and greens; This combination elevates this bowl so that you don't feel like you're "just eating a salad" for dinner. We then shared a Waldorf salad, which was refreshing and nice. Then we both selected red wine varietals grown in Canada. I had a Cabernet/Merlot blend which was super great. Would've never guessed it was from Canada. Next, My wife enjoyed a Pinot Noir that was light and complimented our entrée perfectly. Our entrée was the fillet and prawns served over a garlic mashed potato. This is an absolutely extraordinary dish. We shared it and it was just enough for two people. It is a full meal for one person. The filet temperature preparation was perfect. The prawns were extraordinary, and the garlic mashed potato made you curl your toes! Then we closed the evening with the melted chocolate soufflé, which was divine. Here's the one thing that they missed and to me it's an important miss. They use an automated system for taking reservations. And it kept asking for my name to which I said "Chris" and the automated system kept asking me what's your name!? So it asked hey fourth time and in my frustration I got playful and I said "Big Daddy." And it happily received my name and took my reservation. And then asked if there was any special occasion and I said yes my wife and I are celebrating our anniversary. I get that it may not seem normal to say "Big Daddy party for two". So I'll kind of let that pass because neither front door or upstairs Host was willing to ask. But what I don't like that was missed was our anniversary wasn't acknowledged. I was a server for years, and every host gave the server some type of chit or note to let them know if there is a special occasion. We specifically selected a higher end restaurant for anniversary. So somewhere in there, even if you weren't brave enough to say "Big Daddy for two." Someone still should've checked if you were celebrating any special occasion to which we were. Our anniversary. Our server was fabulous. She was super kind helpful and shared about her experience being in Banff. She made us feel great. My overall experience, the Mapleleaf is a great restaurant. But I'm scoring you an A- because you missed our anniversary. and that's why we chose you. So if you're going to use AI, you can't miss special occasions. Chris & Trisha from Long Beach, CA
