felt spontaneous and bought a ticket (day of) to attend the comedy show after seeing it pop up on my feed so often! i've dined here before, outside of the event times - and remember it being pretty standard. particularly on this day, however, there seemed to be some mix-up or miscommunication between the event hosts & restaurant venue regarding the start time. the show was listed as doors open at 6:30 pm, and was due to start at 7:00 pm. i overheard the staff explaining that most of their events start at 8:00 pm, so thats where there was some confusion but they decided to split the difference and the show started rather promptly at 7:30 pm. nonetheless, spirits were kept high with the audience/people dining in. of course, the yummy food was a great distraction and pass time for many of us! the only thing is i wish that they offered more appetizers on their menu. the selection was pretty limited, but i am likely bias due to coming in alone and not bringing reinforcements. the portions are very hefty from what ive seen and it is best for sharing or having family style. i ordered the salad rolls with peanut sauce to dine in and ordered the Szechuan sautéed green string beans packaged to-go for later. the crowd was great, and it was a great experience / set. read more

On a Friday night for my party of 3, we ordered Stir fried noodles with beef and the black bean hand pulled noodle with pork. I don't understand why a spoon was supplied with both noodle entrees. A fork would be better. The cabbage was diced in my stir fried noodles but it was hard to pick up with the metal chopsticks. The noodles were thick and chewy. The black bean sauce noodles were too sweet for me. I prefer it salty and fermented. The pork belly in this dish was also diced but delicious. The portions were adequate. Parking plentiful. This was my first time trying Frank's Noodle House. As you walk in you are welcomed by friendly staff. We did not have any issues getting a table, at first there was only 2 other customers. The interior is clean and neat, I was actually impressed by the cleanliness I had envisioned a more worn interior. The menu is huge, lots of variety from Stir Fry with or without protein, to appetizers, rice dishes and Korean Style BBQ. More food options than we had planned on. You can set your level of spice 1-4. We ordered two Stir Fried dishes, one with Chicken and one with Pork Belly. The dishes are served with finely chopped cabbage, onion, hand pulled noodles, red and green bell pepper and chopped celery. They have many other protein options. We also shared a side of fried Crab rolls. I feel like I've sort of avoided this place cause I always thought it'd be overhyped. Finally came here after several years and I'd say that it is worth the hype. Surprisingly busy for a Thursday afternoon, but the service was still good. The staff were super attentive and helpful with the menu. Food is great. I love chongxing chicken, and not every where has it. Theirs was very good and I'd highly recommend it. I had it with the house noodles, which was also good, but chongxing chicken isn't a very saucy dish so the noodles felt a little on the plain side. Of note it does come with peanuts, and it's not listed on the menu, so take note if you have any allergies. read more

Despite living close to Frank's Noodle House and driving past it every time I'm craving McDonald's, I had never tried this place until recently. I will say, as someone who loves Chinese food, this is some of the BEST honey walnut shrimp I've ever had (as someone who's go to dish is honey walnut shrimp). My boyfriend and I also ordered a side of hand pulled noodles and general tso's chicken. I've had general tso's once before, but didn't like it because I found it too spicy for my liking. But here, it was not spicy at all and I really liked it. I messed around and mixed the sauce into my noodles and added soy sauce and really enjoyed how it tastes. Someone told me that they make a good jjajangmyun type of noodles but their own version, so I had high expectations and hope but was let down! I ordered their homemade noodles with black bean sauce. I figured since it was a Chinese restaurant, I thought they would make it how it's made in China! The black bean sauce otherwise known as choon-jahng is supposed to be cooked in a wok with pig lard with pork and lots of yellow onions , and when the heat from cooking turns the black bean sauce slightly brown, that is when you know the sauce is ready to be served over noodles. It's my first time at this location and probably the last time, the young wait staff seems nice but once you start talking to them and asking questions, you can tell that they really don't want to talk to you and don't really give a ! All they care about is getting their tips! The restaurants atmosphere is really nice but that that was it! I was wondering why I was the only customer at 4:14 PM. $18 for a small portion of home made noodles that isn't anything to write about other than it's really a really doughy and under cooked thick noodles with a black bean sauce that was cooked in a sauce pan instead in a wok. Oh my godddds the noodles! The hand pulled chewy umami goodness with absolutely perfect texture. I'm in love. I ate in and had the Dan Dan noodles which comes with ground pork and veggies. My friend ordered the Kung Pao tofu, which was somehow perfectly crispy on the outside and yet the center melted in your mouth. I've never had crispy tofu that wasn't dry in the middle. They have a ton of dishes which are meats mixed with hearty servings of vegetables, so I didn't leave feeling bloated and gross. I had some Szechuan green beans and pork with cabbage on the side. Nice and welcoming service, lots of seating. mediocre and felt like the food quality could improve more, flavorful but there was no "wok" or "firey" taste in the food. even the signature stirfry noodles were a bit too hard to chew. This is going to be a bit more honest than some would prefer: General Tsos chicken was not good, i've eaten many in my lifetime including my own family's cooking as they're chefs so I am very picky when it comes to eating stirfry dishes or anything deep fried. The chicken pieces were not all fresh melt battered and the batter itself did not adhere to the meat so when you bit into it, it was disappointing. When sauce gets poured over it also soaks in the grease and the batter since it wasn't freshly whipped up and tasted like dated oil. Broccoli pieces were literally cold like it was just for plating and not for eating with the rest of the entree. Overall would not recommend any of the similar like deep fried/battered meat dishes with sauce drenched over. salted pepper squid was alright, calamari style with ring cuts, not your traditional salted pepper squid at most Chinese/Vietnamese authentic cuisine. So much hype about this place, felt very disappointed in the quality and freshness of the food. Perhaps their first opened location in DT Portland is more popular. Will give that place a try also. I would've given this place 3.5 star if i could but would've docked off that 0.5 star also because they offered tea or water and i chose hot tea, it's $2 and they never informed me. I felt like so many other Chinese restaurants offer hot tea and water complementary to dining in, it should've at least been an informed decision no matter the amount of additional cost. read more

After having the absolute best dish of hand pulled noodles with pork belly, I had to update my review! Wow! The noodles were perfectly cooked al dente giving them that signature chew. The spice level (4 out of 5) was spot on and the pork cooked so it was both crisp and tender. The entire time I was eating, I couldn't wait for the next fork full! I told my friend that we had to come back and we hadn't even left yet. it was that darn good! Oh, and the portion side was large enough for two or two meals. it was so delicious and addicting that I could have eaten the entire portion, but I knew I shouldn't so I asked for a box and put half away immediately. enjoyed it for dinner that night! I have been to both Frank's locations and I recommend this one if you are in a larger group as there is much more space. We ordered the Generals Tao's chicken and the Pork Belly Noodles. Wow. This was by far the best general Tao's chicken I ever had in my life. The crusting and chicken were crispy but also just melted in your mouth. The daikon radish side dish is also phenomenal. The pork belly noodles has a beautiful Smokey flavor that was mouth watering. The service was a little slow, but the staff were fantastic. My work team ordered Frank's for a work lunch. There's nothing quite like an order of 19 items at 11:30 on a Thursday. They did well though! Each order was correct and it didn't take too long. I also ordered BBQ Pork with two sides of rice for $4, and some pickled radish, for $3.50 The serving of BBQ pork was not as generous as I remembered from last time and cost $20. There was a mountain of onions under the meat which I cannot eat at present. But it was tasty and the rice was good. Minion had leftovers for lunch the next day. All in all successful. I watched an episode of DDD which featured the original location of Frank's Noodle House and wanted to try Frank's on our next Portland visit. We couldn't make it to the original location, and tried this location. We really wanted to try their hand pulled noodles, and were able to see someone making the hand pulled noodles from our table. We got Handmade Dumpling, Frank's Signature Stir Fried Handmade Pork Belly Noodles, Frank's Signature Stir Fried Handmade Tofu Noodles, and Frank's Signature Stir Fried Handmade Shrimp Noodles. We loved the homemade dumplings and noodles. The shrimp noodles had a good amount of shrimp as compared to the usual count (4 - 5) of shrimp, the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The food was so good I forgot to take pictures!!! Their portions are HUGE and can feed 2-3 people. To start their spring rolls are some of the best I have ever had. The flavor was on-par and the fresh vegetables shinned. The chicken noodles were soft, tender, and full of flavor. They are very kind and efficient and quick in the service aspect. There were lots of regulars in attendance and I can tell why! One thing that really stood out to me here was the open kitchen window where you can see them needing and forming the noddle dough! It looked like they could have been a little understaffed with two people in front serving several tables and handling the register. However, this is not the first time I've observed that they prioritize getting people seated and having checks paid. As we waited to have our order taken, the family in front of us receive their first order. We were looking around for a server, who said she would be "right with us". She prioritized seating another party instead and bringing out the family's second and third dishes. After seeing the two servers talking by the register and the one clearly not coming over, I asked if we could have our order taken and complained that the table in front of us had already received their food. In a very snarky voice, she stated that they were very busy, that she was going to take our order but didn't have to (!!!) and if that was "okay". I was so taken aback with the attitude that I walked back to the table and asked my brother if he even wanted to eat here. We were both frustrated at the poor service, but the haughty attitude was completely unexpected and uncalled for. We walked out, which we rarely do.
