Not my ideal situation to post first review, but felt inclined to let others be aware....Just like other reviewers on here, I experienced prompt enough replies from Ferman when messaging through the Yelp app. Went back and forth until I scheduled him to come today between 10-11. He said ok and texted him my address. Texted him my address to his phone, which I know went through because it was obviously an iPhone (blue bubbles). After that...radio silence. Nothing on Yelp app and no reply acknowledging receipt of my address to his phone. Not even a call since he now has my number. Waste of my mid-morning. On to a more professional gardener/landscaper. UPDATE: Regarding the owner's response to not receiving my address...that is a lie. I've sent it on the Yelp messenger and text via phone (after verifying his phone number with him). Ferman and his team are awesome. They completed our backyard work within 10 days. This included pavers, retaining wall, irrigation, new soil, planting, mulch and staining the fence. We reached out to Ferman for an initial quote for our backyard in a newly constructed home in Newark. Ferman helped us in narrowing down the options and provided us enough time to decide on the design. He included all the items that we asked for in final quote and also provided us with an accurate time estimate for the amount of work involved. We got pavers, retaining wall, irrigation, gopher net, soil, mulch and almost 2 dozen plants for our yard. They were open to changes during the construction and accommodated all our needs. They also put in good quality materials and let us pick the pavers, blocks and plants. He let us pick the plants of our choice and made sure we were satisfied with the selection. Ramirez Corporation responded immediately to inquiry. Bid high $$ for a "clean up" but seemingly educated on proper pruning and treatment of lawn and plants. We hired them and we were not disappointed! They completed the job quickly! Still not sure if cost of job was worth outcome-but we will see how yard is maintained, hence we hired them for maintenance. Depending on how they do will determine future large projects. We are a little concerned that they might be spreading themselves thin and therefore service will reflect being rushed. We shall see. You know, it kind of sucks updating this. I went back and forth on whether or not I should, and ultimately came to the conclusion that we are not terribly happy with the services Ramirez Gardening Service gave us. When we first met Ferman I was pretty clear about what we needed to have done. I wanted the irrigation fixed, 65ft of brush INCLUDING ROOTS removed, and the left over building debris behind the brush carted off to the dump. The original quote for the brush AND ROOT removal was $1700. I was totally fine with this. Once they started removing the brush, we did the quote for the debris. $350, plus another $50 to clean up some leaves around the backyard, and $200 to run the electrical for the irrigation, with the idea we can plant new stuff immediately. I was also fine with this, and they went forth and did all of the work. A couple weeks later, I start looking to plant some new stuff, and began digging a couple holes. Within 30 minutes I had hit six different root systems where the bamboo previously was living. I dig those up over the course of an hour or two, fill up a 64 gallon yard waste bin, and plan to plant next weekend. Next weekend comes, more bamboo roots, and another full 64 gallon yard waste bin. At this point I am getting frustrated. Likewise, the following weekend (the day of writing this) I am still digging up bamboo roots as the shoots are still starting to grow out of the ground. In addition to not finishing the bamboo roots, I have thrown away roughly 20 bricks, cans, bits of plastic, wood, and various building materials they were also supposed to haul away, as they charged me for that service. The guys left 10-15 salsa packets from their lunch spot in various spots in our yard as well. These guys worked hard, for a full day, and that's the only reason I'm not dropping this to a single star. Had this been too much work, you should have quoted me something else, or returned the following day to finish it. I have now spent roughly six to seven hours finishing up a job we paid $2300. Even the small details of applying twist on wire connectors to the irrigation line they ran were missed, leaving exposed electrical lines six inches from the spigot. This is unacceptable, and I will never use this service again. read more

We needed an emergency repair of our irrigation valve. I explained to Ferman what we needed. He came about an hour after our phone call and quickly called one of his team members to do the repair. Gerardo came with all of the supplies needed. He quickly bypassed the system to restore water to our house while he did the repair. He finished the job in a few hours. Greedy, lying, incompetent Ferman Ramirez This is the very first time I am writing a bad review. I usually just let it go, if I had a bad experience , but this guy deserve hundred times a bad review. I needed to get the backyard fixed from previously-lawn ( all dried out) to draught resistant landscaping to be ready for a family event. Summer being the high season, could not find anybody available, except Ferman. Now I know why . He is the worse of the worst. Of course he was all " I will make you very happy with your landscaping". I showed him the style, color of pebbles, flag stones, plants, everything. I created the landscape design as well. All he had to do is do the job. He said, he will. Well he didn't. After digging out the old dirt, he and his crew disappeared. After a couple days, trying to track him down, his crew only worked from 6-8 p.m. Problems: 1- He was supposed to treat the dirt for weed control, before covering it with weed guard: he didn't 2- He was supposed to dig at least 8 inches, he didn't, now the pebbles fly all over the place and are heaped at the middle. The dripping system is totally exposed. 3- He showed me a good version of weed guard material, he didn't use that one. When I confronted him, he said, this is just as good, well it is not. Can't keep up with the weed coming out of ground 4- He told me, he can't find the pebbles and flag stones I want. I told him where to get it. He said, it is too expensive, I should buy myself, he will put it for me on the ground. Or he was going to leave. I should find somebody else to finish the job. 5- I sent him names and pictures of plants I wanted, which I found at Homedepot...he said, he can't find them... 6- He bought 2x six packs of succulents, which had missing plants. What ignorant, dolt landscaper buys dead plants ? The whole ordeal was totally aggravating. All in all he messed up everything. I can't keep up with getting rid of weeds coming out all over the place and now 6 of the plants totally died, eventhough it has been raining like crazy here. Of course he has been ignoring my messages. I paid him cash, I hope the IRS will come after him. read more

Great service and advice on landscaping. The team was quick and efficient. I need to get the front and back yard done before my party which I called them a week ahead of the event and got it done in time (granted it was raining and some work wasn't completely finish but e can't control the weather). They got 5 star for new my sprinkler valve replacement because they have to dig at least 1 feet to replace it and put everything back neat and tidy . 4 star for fixing leaking water from well water because we had to figure out a while how to turn off the well pump. 5 star for the extra work of fixing leaking water from water hose . For lawn cleaning and mowing, For the 2 guys who really did the job, I gonna give 10 star because they arrived exactly the same time as scheduled. They are polite ,did the job quickly and professionally .They also remove the plant I requested.They also told me to see what I want them to do more before they leave. We've been looking to landscape our backyard for months now, and in my research, I found this hidden gem. Good communication through the Yelp platform and through text. They completely transformed our outdoor living space in under 1 week. The rest of the crew only speaks Spanish, they may leave a tool in your yard for a couple days, and they do prefer cash, but that's pretty typical for landscaping in the bay area. Contacted them through yelp,and was very responsive same day with a reply saying " When can I take a look". We texted him to set up the appointment. His reply was: "can you send me pictures?" I replied that "it is a very big project and can't be estimated from pictures, can you stop by to see it and give a more accurate estimate for measurement and cost" his reply was "No". I am really confused how is that a professional answer or reply. What a waste, we were looking forward working with him after all these positive reviews. - Update : After the review, I got a call and txts from the owner with apology that he was busy that day and request to come and give us an estimate. Since we already in the process of working with others, we thanked him for reaching out and explained the current situation. With more txts he requested to remove my review clarifying that what happened occurred due a family emergency. With all respect I wanted to give a clear picture of our encounter with the business. Since many businesses never care for heir customer unless a negative review is put online. Ramiez was caring and reachable to solve the issues. Simple, small front yard. I was quoted $2500 for the landscaping and planting of the plants that I would buy. This is no paper word, just a verbal agreement. He got rid if the grass and moved some dirt. I explained the next day, that more dirt needed to be moved so the water would drain AWAY for the house. The worker did not understand directions and demonstration I gave the previous day. Mr Ramirez wanted to charge me for the 'additional' work to correct his workers mistake. I did not have landscaping plans and I wasn't sure what I wanted. I should have waited till I had final plans and we could write down exactly what Mr Ramirez was to do. Plan on .estimating and ordering your rock and other material yourself so there is no confusion. Lesson, be prepared and get it on paper. This review is modified from my original review that was unfair. The differences were partly my mistake for not being prepared, I'm sure Mr Ramirez would have done a fine job if we had detailed plans. read more

I accidentally broke one of the sprinkler heads on my yard by hitting it with my lawn mower about a month ago. I'm not a handy person, so I called multiple people on Yelp to get it fixed. Only Ferman picked up the phone. He came out the same day and actually fixed both the sprinkler head and the pump which was broken, too. He did a good job but most importantly, he was available when I needed him. I plan to do a bit of landscaping in my side yard when I have the budget, and I would contact Ferman again. read more

Highly recommend working with Ramirez Corp. First of all, they were one of the few gardening services that even bothered calling me back after I left a voicemail. After speaking with whom I'm assuming to be Ferman based on the other reviews, it seemed like it wasn't going to work out because I needed someone to work over the holiday weekend, and like most people, he was taking time off. However, he called back a few minutes later and referred his friend, Norberto, who was available instead. I got in touch with Norberto, and he was able to come within a few hours to inspect our backyard, which was suffering from a lack of maintenance for 3+ years. He was willing to work early in the morning on New Year's Day to accommodate our tight schedule and still gave us a reasonable quote. Norberto arrived earlier than the scheduled time and worked quickly alone. After the cleanup, Norberto answered all of our questions and even gave suggestions on how to improve the area. Overall, the service was excellent, and I'd be more than happy to hire Norberto again. read more

We have had Ramirez Corp Gardening Service for 5 plus years. They come every week on time and also have done other landscape jobs. Very Reliable. They do several houses in our area. The work is always excellent. The trimming is done for the proper season and correctly for the different plants.My yard has never looked better. Ferman manages to keep the same consistent crew. He also repairs and installs sprinklers, installed and constructed a wood gate, does planting, fertilizing, seeding, and puts down bark. i asked for a quote thru Yelp for Ramirez service after seeing the good rating and the reviews. He responded promptly and gave a quote for three different tasks that I have in mind. they are all reasonable. in the end, it will be the quality of the work that makes a difference. the first job he just finished for us today is to create a drain/trench at the side yard. It collects water when it rained hard last winter. it should have been a 5 star but the first crew he sent to cut the concrete slab did not turn out so good. That unfortunately took away 1 star. Ferman apologized about the quality and made sure he was here to see that the project completed smoothly. I will update this review and raise it to a 5 after he finishes my other tasks with equally good quality. the job involves cutting out a 7-8" wide 60' long tract in our concrete pavement and bury a hard 3" pipe. Not sure how experienced Ferman is with French drain, we improvised by drilling holes on top of the pipe, cover it with drain sock and add roughly 2 - 3" of rocks on top. Ferman was willing to work with me to experiment with the set up. At the end, to allow sufficient pitch, he pulled up a few more concrete blocks in the front. we are all happy to see water flow out from this semi-french drain that we together created. Before they leave, they moved the left over sand and the excavated dirt to the back yard. They promised to pick those up with garden wastes from the next task that they will be working on - revive our backyard with new sod. They hose the place down and clean up before they leave. that is very much appreciated. Look forward to our next task. read more

I want to start off by saying I have a LARGE lot. My front, side, and backyard were overgrown with weeds up to my knees. I had a series of bushes that were worn down beyond repair, and a huge rose bush that had a mind of its own. I wanted everything out, down to the dirt, and leveled, in order to start fresh. I called Ferman and he came out the same day. He gave me a quote right on the spot that was reasonable. He told me his crew would be out the next morning at 0830, and would finish in two days. Sure enough, at 0820 a large truck pulls up and Louis starts setting up his tools. On time???? What?!?!? Amazing. Completed in the time stated, my yard looks great! I have asked Ferman to continue with twice a month maintenance until I have the funds to have him landscape it. read more

I called Ferman at 8 pm during a rainy asking for help with maintenance on my yard for upcoming rainy season. He promptly told me he would show up the next morning to take a look.
