This time it was a new problem for me. After buying a used car a few months ago, the tire light came on. I quickly realized that this wasn't going to be easy as the tires were some type of inside mount-the stem is actually on the back of the rim. To top it off, there was a metal cover on the stem that had seized up and wouldn't come off. I was ready to have the tire removed and a new stem or tire out on. Thankfully and happily the manager came out, tried to get it off and ended up coming back with some spray and pliers. He got it off, had the team add air and sent me on my way. It's so rare to have service like this where you don't feel like you're getting scammed. Of course I'll get the next set of tires here when they wear out soon. Now, understand something, I am a lifelong, ride-or-die fan of Discount. I've been going there for roughly 41 minus 16 years (math is hard, flats are harder). So finding a new "home location" was emotionally significant. I pull in looking like I just wrestled my car on the side of the road (because I absolutely did), and before I can even mentally prepare to interact with civilization, a gentleman comes out to greet me. Sir, you did not have to be that kind to someone who looked like she'd been lightly basted in axle grease, but I appreciate you. They checked my tires and gently broke the news that my tread was basically living on hopes, dreams, and good vibes. I drive what can only be described as a micro machine, which of course means I also have tiny tires, because why make life easy? They didn't have them in stock (totally fair), but somehow still got me safely up and running like absolute magicians. Now, the bonus comedy feature: I drive a manual transmission. Watching the team politely determine who among them possessed the ancient and mystical knowledge of "stick shift operation" was peak entertainment. About an hour later, I was back on the road with new tires and restored faith in humanity.
