There we were, 200 miles to go on our 1,230 mile family trip, shifting between 2nd and 3rd in our 1987 VW Vanagon when we heard a loud thump, followed quickly by a gradual deceleration and inability to shift into any gear. After coming to a stop and looking under the van I was crushed to see my axle hanging off from where my newest CV joint was recently replaced. I did a quick google search for a mechanic and started to call down the list. Mechanic #1 was Ramon's, but no one answered. Mechanic #2 said my car was too old and to try Mechanic #3, who said it would be four days before he could look at my car and recommended Mechanic # 2. I called #2 again and pleaded for help and was put on hold "to ask the manager." While on hold, I get a call from an unknown number with a 559 area code and decide to pick it up. It was Ramon. "I'm sorry to have missed your call. How can I help?" I shared my story and he said he might not have the part today given the van's age, but the least he could do is have a look. As the tow truck pulls onto Ramon's lot, he hops onto the flatbed, examines the situation, then assured us he would be able to help! He personally supervised the repair and test drove our vehicle. In the end, he handed me a write up of what he found to share with my mechanic at home. Our entire ordeal from breakdown to back on the road lasted three hours. I'm going to buy Ramon a clock for Christmas, because he only charged us for maybe an hour's worth of work instead of taking advantage of vulnerable and weary travelers. Ramon has restored my faith in humanity's ability to help one another in times of need and I cannot thank him and his crew enough. We were headed down to LA from Sacramento and stopped for gas and food and got a low tire warning. Unfortunately the rear tire had a inner sidewall tear from I5 potholes. I Searched for places to install my spare tire and found Ramon's on Google maps. My car runs a uncommon tire size so I didn't expect any shops to have it but Ramon's had a used set of tires that were a close size. We were stuck between a rock and a hard place and this family owned business went above and beyond! My brother and I were driving from Orange County to Lodi when we got a flat tire. We drove to Ramon's and they told us that our run-flat tire was shot and they needed to order another from Fresno, a 40 minute drive one way (which they would pick up early the next morning). We were stuck! Adrian, the owner's son, took care of us by calling the local hotel and making sure they had a room for us, taking us to pick up dinner, and driving us to the hotel (almost 10 miles away). He then had his brother pick us up in the morning. When we arrived, the tire was already on the car and we were ready to resume our trip. My boyfriend's semi trucks front right tire just blows out. Yup, right as I'm driving it too at around midnight. A loud POP! And then the truck starts feeling unbalanced and wants to waiver off to the side of the road. My bf takes over the wheel and safely leads us to the next exit. Kamm Ave. It's late, nowhere is open and feels like we're out in the middle of nowhere. The one good thing was the sky - entirely consumed with clusters of stars like I've never seen before back home in our polluted infested sky of Southern California. Luckily by early morning this place is opened. They have exactly the tire and rim which needed replacing and at a very decent price!! They're Mexican dudes too so you know they know what they're doing hehe :) After we give them a call, they rush out here around 30minutes later. I had gotten a flat on the 5fwy going back home for school, and had the worst experience with another tire company that took advantage of my situation and ripped me off! It was late but luckily we where able to get towed to a near by city called Mendota and a tow truck driver recommended us a Hotel and Tire shop for the next day. More car troubles.... On our way home from visiting family in San Diego we experianed a flat tireout in the middle of nowhere on the 5. My mini cooper has run flat tires, but we were not comfortable driving it after it was pulling really hard to the left. We called AAA and they came to tow us, they were the ones to suggest these guys since there was so little out in that area. We called them around 4:30 and asked them what time they were going to close, they were supposed to close at 5 but they said they would wait for us to arrive. Which was such a relief! I don't know what I would have done otherwise. When the tow truck driver dropped us off they were waiting with a quote for the tire since I had given him the information on the phone. When they were helping get my car off the tow truck they informed me that my other front tire was really going to need replaced as well so they changed both tires for me since he was not comfortable sending me out with the other tire looking so bad. I never would have known! I guess when I bought the car from Carmax they did not balance the tires so they were wearing out very unevenly. He suggested I get them balanced ASAP. I was visiting my daughter in Mendota and my front tire blew. My daughter called Ramon's and within 30 minutes it was fixed! A technician came out with two tires of the size I gave him (wrong size, but it's what the manual said), so he changed it to the spare and we drove to the shop and had two new tires put on for a great price, all within 30 minutes! I was stranded near i-5 and Ramon and his son drove out to help me out. They helped me get my truck to their shop and diagnosed the problem. This was Friday night and well past there opening hours. They were also missing a football game with there families but they didn't complain at all and were exceptionally professional. Okay, so these guys are THE ABSOLUTE BEST. They were my guardian angels last night and I genuinely have no idea what I would have done without them. Here was the situation: I'm driving from San Francisco down to LA, and at the pretty much exact halfway point, my tire violently blows on the highway. AAA comes and puts on a spare but you shouldn't/can't drive too far on a spare, and I still have 3 hours left! Biggest issue: it's 9PM and EVERYTHING is closed. I'm panicking because there's not much around and I really didn't want to stop for the night. I called Ramon's and they came down and literally OPENED SHOP for me. Then, they checked my remaining tires and patiently showed me that all of them were very worn down and dangerous. We talked through possible solutions, and they ended up replacing all 4 tires at a reasonable price. They even filled up my spare and made sure it got back in my car safely :) THANK YOU THANK YOU for making such a horrible, stressful situation so much better. This place is amazing! A sensor told us we were losing pressure in a tire. We found this place on yelp, called to make sure they could help. We got there. In minutes, the problem was identified (a bad patch by our local ford service department) and minutes later the problem was fixed. The price was very reasonable, embarrassingly low, so I wonder if we were treated as somebody's grandparents. In any case, everyone was hustling but apparently in a good mood. If you have a tire problem in this area, come here! Technician was, I think, Chip or Chad, we shook hands but I am not good on names. He and my wife talked dogs since we have a Dalmatian and he has a bulldog. read more

As i sat on the 5 north on a Friday night with my front tire dangling in the night, I thought this is not going to be good for my travel times and my wallet. With luck i looked up Ramon's on Yelp, and read the reviews and called them the next morning which was Saturday, and they were open for business.
