First off this restaurant in no way deserves one star. Shame on those reviewers! The restaurant itself is in a wonderful setting. Also known as the log it has a lot of character. As a longtime Williams College hangout, the walls are adorned with some paintings dedicated by alumni long gone by. The pizza is very good New York style. We've given this place three tries and each one was worse than the other. To start with the concept of stand-up ordering as you step into the place is stupid, flat out dumb. Maybe takeout orders could be handled this way, but on a busy night (which is doubtful for such a badly run place) the line would be disturbing. But the service and food are what is most lacking. Every time we have gone the service only got worse. We went right after they opened the first time and the lack of table service of any kind was off putting, but we figured they would work out the kinks. On two subsequent visits, the service has become even less sophisticated and completely lacking in any professional care for customers. You will not get any plates, drinks or knives and forks delivered. You are your own staff. Plus, the slow and passionless staff may choose to deliver your order, but they will not bring it all out together, some pizzas will be hot, others ice cold. There is no order or planning because they are under staffed and unprofessional. As if the design and service were terrible, but the pizza is crap. We can't decide if the cook just doesn't know how to make pizza, because the ingredients seem decent, but everything we have tried has been boring, undercooked or just bad. When you match terrible food to ridiculous service and a restaurant design more appropriate for a Walmart food court you realize this place has way too many issues to be taken seriously as a food option. There's better pizza a block away and much better service on the same street with better food. I'd recommend skipping this nightmare of a "restaurant" if you like food that is edible. read more

Let me start off by noting that I'm an alumnus of Williams College, with fond memories of The Log (the building in which Ramunto's of Williamstown is located). Since the interior remains much the same as it was in my undergrad days, I felt very much at home--therefore, this review is boosted by one star just for the nostalgic ambience. We arrived at the height of lunch hour; there were only a few small groups scattered about. The restaurant's concept was not intuitive--I had to ask the barkeep for a quick tutorial on how to do things the Ramunto's way. She was very helpful and brought me up to speed in no time. We ordered a NY style marghareta pizza with two glasses of Pinot noir. The pizza exceeded our expectations. Of course, it's not what you would get in NY, but the ingredients were fresh, with plenty of cheese, basil, and tomato slices, and the crust was adequate. The cheese could have been distributed more evenly on the pie, and melted for a bit longer. That being said, Ramunto's was far better than what the national chains regularly dish up. So--three stars for the pizza and service, and one more for that little bit of old school Williams memories. read more

Really amazing, tasty crust. Had their veggie pizza with a small amount of cheese and it was perfect! (Tomatoes, brocolli, mushrooms, onions, garlic.) They had several tables outside to dine on site. No heaters, but we were prepared and brought our car blanket. Hot, steaming pizza out of a great oven with top- notch crust and sauce recipes. I wish I lived closer! read more
