    Cheese Board
    Christine M.

If you're in North Adams, PUBLIC is the place to go for dinner. The ambiance is lovely and the service is excellent. We started with the cheese board, which is a must order, and added the charcuterie, along with baked clams. For our mains, we chose the heritage bone in pork chop and the roasted statler chicken breast. Everything was absolutely delicious. It's a quick walk if you're staying at a nearby hotel and comes highly recommended by locals. A must visit spot. I would come back in a heartbeat.

Everything we ate was DELICIOuS! Best dinner out we have had in a long time! We especially loved the watermelon gazpacho, and the public salad, sausage and mushroom flatbread, and fries were also excellent. Will absolutely be coming back!

Stopped by for a late lunch after visiting Mass Moca with a party of 6 and no reservation and we were seated without a wait. The interior is welcoming and spacious with art pieces lining the walls making it a nice place to wind down. I got to try the roast beef sandwich and the fish and chips and both were fine/a bit underwhelming. Not sure what I was expecting for the roast beef sandwich but the beef was thickly sliced and kinda small compared to the amount of fries it came with. On the fries, I like crispy fries but these are borderline chips with how overcooked they were. The fried fish were fried well- light and crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside.

We enjoyed PUBLIC eat+drink so much on our first evening in the Berkshires we had to dine here again two days later, and perhaps again before we return home. Good fun crowd in attendance. Plus, PUBLIC was highly recommended by a few locals. Thank you. Upon entering you are warmly welcomed. Service is top notch, quick friendly, refreshingly thorough. Excellent Farm to Table fresh fare. I was very happy with my delicious dressed harvest salad topped with perfect medium rare pan-seared salmon "The chef prefers salmon cooked this way!". Thank you! Options are divided in sections +each prepared very well. Great "Pasture-Raised Grass-Fed" Burgers, Pei Mussels, Short Rib, Pork Loin, Many Veggie options, Flatbreads, Crème Brûlée, Flourless Chocolate Cake... + a robust selection of micro brew beers and variety of wines, white, red, rosé and bubbly.... Enjoy! All best wishes for 2024!!!! Thank you for reading.

    Peekaboo, falafel!

Needed to fortify before going to Mass MOCA and found this pub. It was crowded, a good sign, and we got a table by the window. The service was fast nd friendly. Ordered the falafel plate, which came with a green salad. Falafel was strangely moist rather than crispy and salad was more or less naked. The pulled pork sandwich (with botled dressing) looked lonely on a large platter with homemade potato salad. $50 lunch for two is not a good value for sandwiches.

We had a lovely dinner here before a concert at Mass MOCA. The entrees were high quality and delicious, as were the cocktails.

Through all of it, Lindsay was absolutely incredible. I honestly don't know how she did it. Even as the restaurant filled up, she somehow made it feel like I was her only table. My drink never got low, everything arrived quickly, and she checked in at exactly the right moments without ever making it feel rushed. She was friendly, sharp, and completely on top of everything happening around her. I've eaten at a lot of restaurants, and service like that is rare. Lindsay handled a packed room with the kind of calm, attention, and professionalism you usually only hope for. She turned an ordinary meal into one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. District Bar and Grill is lucky to have her. Parking in front would have meant backing out later directly into busy Old Loudon Road. "Rustic" looking outside and inside. But after eating the delicious food, I thought who cares about ambiance if the food is this good, actually terrific. Came for the good reviews on the food. Party of five, we selected a table on the porch where there was natural light. My view was of traffic passing by on Old Loudon Road. The inside is dark with only a few tables and a large bar with seating. Pluses were many: *Menu was well organized and full of intriguing choices. There was also a Specials Menu, wine menu, beer menu, and cocktail menu. *Server was experienced enough to take our order without writing it down. But, she did not come back to refill water glasses on warm day. *Food was prepared well and presented nicely! There is a "pic of a Moose" stamped on top of buns! *Generous portions *Reasonable prices for quality of food I ordered the Triple Sliders from the Specials Menu, and I was delighted with the explosion of flavorsI experienced. The Brisket Slider was tender and flavorful. The chicken one had a unique tasty sauce. The pulled pork slider had the tastiest caramelized onions on it. BBQ SLIDER TRIO- $16.95 * Pulled pork with onion strings and ranch drizzle *Smoked brisket with pickle chips, coleslaw and a moonshine drizzle *Fried chicken with shaved Parmesan and honey bbq drizzle Others in party also enjoyed their food: Cheese Burgers, Pulled Pork with sweet potato fries, and a Quesadilla. Food 5 Stars Parking 2 Stars Seating 3 Stars There would not be much seating available during colder months. And place is popular. Service 4 Stars Exterior Appearance 2 Stars Several large empty plastic containers were tossed out back of building. Hindered me from turning to get out of parking spot.

I swear the woman could read our minds, anticipating our questions. Now to the food. We started with fried brussel sprouts. Huge portion. Flavorful, not overcooked, just the right amount of crispness...and those bacon pieces!? Yum. I had the chicken wings and a beet salad. I'm a Buffalo, NY native folks, and thus have had my share of great chicken wings. Johnny's wings were on par with anything I've had in the Queen City. My only suggestion to make it real Buffalo style is thick blue cheese dip. The other meals served were amazing - two pasta dishes and the fried chicken. All tasty. Everyone loved their dishes. The prices were very fair for the quality and quantity of food brought to the table. I'm surprised at the 4.1 Yelper average. The meal and service we had tonight was excellent.

We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it was very good as usual. Calamari (fried) is served atop an aioli that's heavy with garlic. For my main course I opted for the branzino with seafood risotto. I would not recommend this dish. The branzino came out slightly warmer than room temperature with a big dollop of room temp butter on it. I wonder if the intention was to put the plate under the salamander to warm / crisp things up prior to service but was forgotten. So I scraped the butter off the fish and onto the side plate it went. I was hoping for crispy skin but alas it was not to be found on this dish. Off came the skin and onto the side plate as well. The fish did have a good flavor to it. The seafood risotto was swimming in butter and was not edible. There were several mussels (in the shell) in the risotto, as well as small bay scallops, and several shrimp. The scallops and shrimp were incredibly overcooked and the mussels so gritty that they were inedible. This place used to be my favorite restaurant. I think that this is the last time that I'll dine at Johnny's in Amherst.
