Ranch at Little Hills is something really special. My company hosted our summer picnic party and it was truly wonderful. I was a part of the planning committee and had a chance to work directly with the staff. Every person I interacted with was a true pleasure, professional, and extremely kind. The staff was really communicative and helpful throughout the process. I was extremely impressed on the day of the event. The planning team and the point of contact was always so responsive and thoughtful to the planning of the event. It really took away the stress and anxiety when it comes to planning a company event for 400 people. They helped us coordinate every step of the way. We got a chance to tour the facility, which it gave us a great idea of the layout and amenities. The day of the event was very fun and ran smoothly. We had someone help us with check in and also was there to greet each guest. She was a very lovely girl who was so helpful and welcoming to the guest by letting them know the amenities and schedule for the day. The staff all had blue shirts, which was easy to spot them and every one of them was so friendly. The food was really wonderful and we're so happy we chose the option we did. There was potato salad, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken wings, salad, beans, pesto salad, and rolls. The staff was very accommodating at the venue, they made sure to have plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. To top it all off, we had yummy snow cones that came in cherry red and tropical blue. The kids had really seemed to love the snow cones. We opted to have an open bar feature at the event, which the guests enjoyed beer and wine options. The venue was really beautiful and the trees provided much needed coverage from the summer sun. There were plenty of picnic tables for people to sit in various areas of the park. There were activities that included, bocce ball, swimming pool, horseshoe games, rock climbing wall, inflated golf course, bouncy house, basketball court, and volleyball court. This was such an amazing event and we had so much positive feedback from guests. The staff was really sweet and sent us a gift basket during Christmas. We hope for the opportunity to work with them again. I highly recommend this venue for events! read more

Stopped by Ranch at Little Hills for a wedding and although the venue itself is great, did have some mixed feelings on this as a venue. +The area has a quaint outdoors feel overall and has several open areas that are great depending on the ceremony you'd like to have it seems (or various other events). Everything was also clean. +Parking was pretty plentiful. On the dirt just as a heads-up. +Definitely an outdoors area and although they are using portapotties, they are definitely modern and kept up well. +/- Lighting is a bit sparse in the parking lot but otherwise, at least wedding-wise, seemed like there was enough in the area. +/- Food/drinks weren't bad. Believe they were catered by the park if I was getting the right answers. Wine/beer and unsure if it depends on the package you get. +/- Depends again on the date that you go but shade became an issue on a hot summer day on the main lawn area where the wedding I attended was mainly situated at. -Note that this is a cell phone dead zone (which is probably a bigger social commentary on us than the venue but still - important to note if you do have important business). They do have very limited WiFi but only for specific times (and for this wedding, unfortunately, the noted time for WiFi never came as we were told or there was some sort of miscommunication). read more

We had our wedding here on Sept 29, 2019 and it was perfect. We took the tour and met Angela who became our guardian angel the whole time, clearly explaining every detail and being our eyes and ears on the wedding day, ensuring we didn't miss a thing. We picked this venue as it helped keep our wedding intimate and family-focused and because it reflected our California and Minnesota backgrounds. + Angela was amazing!! We read the reviews on here before even going on the tour. Whatever negative things you read on here, go see for yourself. I do t doubt others but we had a marvelous experience with everyone we talked to and wouldn't have booked it if Angela wasn't so detail oriented and supportive. + The location is really flexible for food, music, photographers, and more. We had The Booth Bus there and it was a huge hit. - We wanted an evening wedding but in the end, started too late. A 5:30 ceremony is just too late of a start and cut down the time we had to spend with people as everyone needs to begin packing up to leave the venue by 10pm. - I would second the lack of lighting in the parking area. Would be nice to have a few more lights but this is a minor quibble. Overall, amazing staff, excellent location, and great support for a wedding of any size. read more

I had the pleasure of attending my moms work party here for Bridgelux. It took a while to get here from where we were coming from. This place seems as if it really is in the middle of no where in San Ramon. As soon as you reach the place, you automatically get the elementary school Science Camp feel. You really do get the camp feel here, even when driving here you are mainly surrounded by all tall trees and it's forestry like! When you finally arrive to, you see the sandy type parking lot remind you of Science Camp yet? Haha. From the parking lot, there were no signs directing us where to from there. They should have had some signs saying Bridgelux Picnic enter here or this way, something like that. They didn't have any signs... The inside the place is really Science Campy like feel, it looks similar to the one I went to in Santa Cruz for 6th Grade Science Camp. You cab see all the cambin like buidlings and get the real outdoor feel. This place has a few aminites to offer. Swimmming Pool, Rock Wall Climbing, Archery, Dunk Tank, Fishing, Jump House, and other Sport and Recation Activites. The food here could use some improvements, I'm not sure buit I don't think the food is made on site, but it needs work in my opinion. They lable it as barbeque, but to me it doesn't seem at all much barbeque. They had Tri-Tip and Barbeque Chicken (as they claimed). They also had some side dishes, such as cold noodle, bread with butter, salad, and hot dogs for the kids. They didn't prepare anything for the vegetarians of the group, which i'm not sure if it's the company's fault for not telling them we had vegetarians, or them just not making any items for the vegetarians. While, I liked the Tri-Tip, the so called Barbeque Chicken was not good. It to me was dry, even though yeah it had Barbeque sauce, it was still sorta dry, but that's just my opinion. They need to work on the Chicken to make it more juicer and just overall better. The italian noodles that were cold, had okay taste, but I would have prefered it rather to be served hot, warm and fresh rather than cold. The drinks they were okay, they served alcoholic beverages, soda, lemonade, water and some sort of hot tea...they offered Pepsi from the dispenser, but they didn't have Mountain Dew!? The Ice Cream selection was kinda really small and sparse. They didn't have a wide variety of Ice Cream to choose from and it's not real Ice Cream either it's the fake kind they sell at the Dollar Tree and 99 Cents store that you seen in a blue container with sliding doors...usually for a $1. They had 2 kinds of Ice Cream Sandwiches (regular and Mississipi Mud Chocolate), Twin Pops (Cherry, Grape and Orange, Sundae Cone, Oragne Dream Bar, and Vanilla Bar. Very limited selection, when you go to the store, they offer way more, kinda odd that they only had that limited selection.... The staff and employees here were very friendly and helpful. They were also welcoming and assistful. They made sure everyone was having a good time and ran each event according to schedule and even earlier upon request for the dunk tank. There are many, many and I say many flies, bugs and bugs all over the place!! Too many if you ask me, but I guess we are outdoors so... OH and lastly, no Wi-Fi or phone service here, so you truely are outdoors with no social online life for a day! HA-HA. read more

We just got married here on 10/20/12 and we loved everything about it. The outdoorsy feel was perfect, and we had hanging lights and candles everywhere. The food was fantastic, Vanessa the coordinator was so helpful and accommodating, and it was the exact wedding we had hoped for. We originally wanted a small, backyard wedding, but since the small part couldn't happen, the backyard part was out of the question. The Ranch at Little Hills created the ambiance we originally wanted, while accommodating our larger party. If you love nature, and the beauty it creates, then this is the wedding venue for you! I was here for my boyfriend's company picnic a few weeks back. It was both our first time there and we didn't really know what to expect. We were both nicely greeted at the entrance where we were given our band. There were two companies at the time so we got the pool view. We were also given a list of events we could do listing the hours. The food wasn't too bad, I didn't think there was anything special to it though. This place had numerous activities including swimming, basketball, archery, rock climbing, and table tennis. We played basketball and tried archery! Didn't expect one there but it was a great first time experience. Overall, the place was really nice, clean, and the staff seemed friendly. I was here for a company picnic last weekend. It had been a while since my last visit (like elementary or high school). I was nicely greeted and directed at the entrance and parking lot and that level of service continued at the check in table. I was directed to the location of our event and greeted with a smile by every staff member I passed. Our site was nicely perched on a hill that overlooked the covered event areas. The food, I thought, was really good for a picnic event and I didn't go hungry. The green salad in particular was fresh and a nice compliment to the usual BBQ/picnic items. I only participated in the archery activity and thought it was a good time. The staff member, Brandon, gave us a thorough overview of the rules and was very engaging and friendly with our group. *** due to yelp length limitations, this review will be a three part review. *** So, we don't usually give reviews, but the experience we had at The Little Ranch on the Hills has prompted us to do so...not to bad mouth anyone in particular, but to warn others against potential unnecessary wedding stress. When we originally signed our contract, it was with Gillian...she was amazing, and 100% on top of it. From the first meeting, she made us feel so comfortable, and confident that we were in the right hands...not to mention excited for our big day. Not surprisingly, Gillian was promoted within the company, WELL DESERVED. Unfortunately for us, we were passed along to a new coordinator, who we were assured would contact us asap. Weeks later, we finally reached out to Gillian for the new coordinator contact info since we had not been contacted. She responded immediately with contact info for Angela...and that's when our drama began. I don't know where Angela came from professionally, but I believe she's picked the wrong career path. When you think of a wedding coordinator, you think of Gillian (warm, excited for you, pleasing and easy to work with, and very knowledgeable). Angela, on the other hand, was almost a complete 180. After our first meeting we were concerned, and debating getting our deposit back and going with another venue. She was not warm, didn't seem excited about her position, and had no clue what she was talking about regarding the package we signed for, nearly 6 months prior. We kind of chalked it up to being new in her position and getting settled in, but as the months passed, that wasn't the case. Every meeting leading up to the event had to be prompted by us, and then when we did reach out to coordinate a date/time, days past before a response. To be fair though, her response time got better a couple months leading up to the wedding. There just wasn't any consistency with the communication, and sometimes(especially when we were initially handed off to her) we felt completely in the dark. read more

We were told the venue came with a wedding coordinator, and did not think much of it at first. After our first meeting with Gillian Espinosa, we were blown away by how friendly and professional she was. She is absolutely brilliant! She made the whole planning process a breeze, and knew every little detail of our wedding. It was almost like planning our wedding with another friend because of how excited she would get about different ideas we had planned on adding to our big day. The ranch at little hills is a picturesque venue with a rustic feel. We chose it because it was outdoors, but still protected from the elements, with the semi-permanent tent. The management and grounds team were amazing and made our wedding beautiful. Our guests felt covid safe at every comfort level, and still had an excellent time partying. Gillian our coordinator was friendly, accommodating and over all incredible. She is reason enough to choose this site. We came for a tour to WildCat canyon but choose this venue based on the incredible coordinator and the great food/beer. (Our guests have raved repeatedly about the chicken!) My husband and I are a tiny bit beer snobs but this site was able to accommodate any beer we had on our list. We ended up having the rehearsal dinner onsite the day before too and what a good decision. Your wedding goes by so quickly that we really appreciated the extra time in such a pretty setting. Can you say "unorganized." The Little Hill Ranch may not be able to say the word, but they can achieve the standard. The games should have been good, but the employees just cannot organize a group effectively. The directions given were vague and difficult to follow. My son played BINGO at the picnic and he protested after the first game. The announcer was horrible and too quiet (no one could hear). She rushed through each call while maintaining her mumbling ways. The food could easily have been given to shelter dogs as an emergency meal and turned away. There were bees everywhere stealing food, yes stealing. I saw one land on this kids plate and pull chicken off the bone. The bee started to fly away, but the piece of chicken was still connected. Funny site to see, but I digress. The grounds were okay, the picnic sites were too close together and confusing. Lunch was published to start at 11 but the "food" was not served until 12:30, and like I said the food was crap (the hot dogs even sucked). The trees in the area were not chosen well. The tree that overhangs the sandbox has spiny leaves, which fall into the sandbox. This is not as kid friendly as hoped. read more

My company has done a few Summer Events here, and I've always had a great time. There are a fair amount of activities to choose from, and plenty of spots with shade. The pool is pretty big and is always a hit with the kiddos. They should add a shaded section to the pool though, that would be awesome :) The food they serve there is actually quite good, and the drink selection, while smile was super legit beer wise. Other fun activities include a fishing pond, dunk tank and archery. Of special note for me in our visits is the folks doing face paint / body art for the kiddos. They are always great and my daughter really loves that part. For my visit this weekend, Kenzie & Skylar were at the booth and they were great. Lauren is simply the most amazing wedding coordinator ever! She is upbeat and positive, helpful and reassuring, friendly and professional. My husband and I were planning our wedding in the Bay Area remotely and couldn't make appointments to see our vendors or venue to take of business as promptly as we'd liked. Lauren made sure to check in with us as decisions needed to be made and kept us on track. She asked all the necessary questions to guide our thought process and even made sure to get the wedding party's names, including the parents and ushers. She also was a picture of calm and collected, even with so much happening all at once. She made the experience extremely personal, even though she probably plans a crazy number of weddings a year! Since this venue is a regional park, it is wrought with beautiful nature. Our photographer was nice enough to scope out the perfect area for our wedding portraits beforehand. Otherwise, I think we would've been hard-pressed to find them within the time limits of our rental agreement. The areas we did find, however, are absolutely stunning! The parents kept commenting on how the backgrounds in our portraits were so green and gorgeous that it looked crafted. (They were not.) The staff here is wonderful as well. Lauren snuck us in to the tented area during an event one night to give us a tasting of the Ranch's menu offerings. We were greeted by just about everyone, though they were in the middle of running glasses back and forth and refilling the lemonade and water. They made sure to check in on us occasionally, giving us time to mull over our thoughts about the dishes but keeping our glasses filled with the beverage of our choice. On our big day, they were in good spirits and greeted everyone with smiles! The bridal area was quite nice, but ideal for no more than 4 or 5 people. The decor is simple and pretty, and there are three changing rooms available for the girls to change. It is connected with the women's restroom, which the guests use, so it can be a little tricky to avoid people. The groom's area, though, is less impressive: it seemed to be a long trailer-type container with only one entrance. Unfortunately, our July wedding fell on the hottest day of the year, so neither rooms were ideal to get ready in. Oh well. The only downside to this venue is that it's used for company picnics and retreats as well. That means there are picnic tables with plastic tablecloths in plain sight, which are an eyesore only if you scrutinize. I'm quite sure the guests from our wedding didn't even notice. read more

Attended a company event here today. This is a great space, plenty of different picnic areas (some sheltered), horseshoe pits, volleyball, lots of grassy open spaces and a pool. There are several little trails leading up the hills to different areas. The food was great... I had the BBQ chicken, a spinach salad and pesto pasta salad. All very tasty. They also offered chips/dip, fruit, crackers and cheese plates later in the afternoon. All of the staff there were really friendly too. Oh, and the restrooms were very clean. However, absolutely no cell coverage... which can be a refreshing break. I'd definitely consider this as a venue if you're looking to host an event. read more

If you are looking for a very reasonably priced, all inclusive rustic venue with an awesome coordinator and super helpful staff, then this is it. (Caveat: our wedding was May of last year so rates may have increased just a tad bit). Wedding planning is definitely not easy, but Lauren definitely made it a lot easier and less stressful. While she is The Ranch's day-of coordinator, she had 3 check in meetings with us leading up to the wedding and was always available via email/phone. She and the staff took care of everything the day of our wedding. We didn't have to check in on set up, nor did we have to clean/pack or take stuff home with us after the wedding. They packed everything up nicely and stored it away for our friends to pick up the day after. For a nominal fee, you can also have the staff help with various tasks (instead of doing it yourself, they will do it for you -- loved this option as it relieved us of having to stress over additional details). They helped us string lights all around the gazebo area, set up and arrange decorations on the guest book table, dessert table, and s'mores table. You will receive a high level of professionalism and responsiveness, along with friendly and superb service. We highly recommend The Ranch at Little Hills! read more

We just had our wedding and reception here on 6/29/13 and it was everything we could've asked for! Vanessa, the coordinator, was amazing and met with us multiple times before the big day to make sure everything went smoothly. The venue grounds are huge (and gorgeous!) and there are a ton of areas for great pictures :) There is a small bridal room that was perfect to hold our stuff and put some last minute touches on. The ONLY downside was the room didn't have A/C and we happened to get married on one of the hottest days of the year so far! Vanessa and her staff set everything up exactly how I pictured it and were incredibly attentive all day. They helped keep us on schedule without making us feel rushed all day. The food was amazing - we had salmon and steak, brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes and 2 salads...yum! Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better venue or staff to help with our wedding! read more

Tucked away in the hills of San Ramon, The Ranch at Little Hills offers that seclusion you are looking for when holding an event, yet you won't have to drive 1-2 hours to get it like you would for say something in Napa or Sonoma. I had my wedding here on Saturday June 7th, 2014. From beginning to end, it was an amazing experience. The wedding site is beautiful and the food was delicious. The customizable layout was a huge plus for my husband and I - as we wanted to incorporate the wedding theme in various areas. In addition to everything this venue had to offer, I would have to say that we were most pleased with our time working with the site's wedding coordinator Lauren Maser. Lauren is absolutely AMAZING. She promptly responded to all of my emails (I had a ton), ensured our order with Pleasanton Rentals met our expectations, and made sure we felt comfortable through the entire planning process of our wedding. This review is for a company picnic event on 8/18/13 for about 100 people. First off, everything went smooth as can be, even with my back and forth and about date, and number of guests. I'm really impressed with Vanessa our event planner, she always made herself available to answer any questions, and was more than accommodating to our group. We had a few special requests, and all of them were met with ease, I really didn't have to do anything. Our picnic site was clean, covered from the sun, right next to the pool, swings, and live music. All the activities were a short wait and the clown/magician/entertainer was great as well! Went to a company picnic here, it was fun! The tri tip, chicken, beans, coleslaw and other food bits were delicious. Loved they had real adult food, beer, wine, as well as soft drinks, water, hot dogs, and an ice cream stand. Bathrooms were clean and the grounds are a lot of fun. I did the rock wall and made it to the top (after falling off twice). There are lots of space and activities so there's room for everybody. The ride is pretty, through the hills. Staff were uniformly pleasant and helpful. It's a little rustic for a wedding, but for parties, get togethers, reunions, I could see this place being a huge hit. read more

As another member stated in a previous review, there were a lot of bees there but to their credit, it is difficult problem to control - and they try by setting traps. Food - the chicken was cold, the tri-tip was ok, and just ok, the sides were good. Location is very nice. It is a large property and a very enjoyable drive getting there. So my review weighs heavily on the food and it was disappointing to have been served cold chicken after only standing in line about 5 minutes. While this venue has some very appealing details and the ceremony location is beautiful there is so much that is lacking and needs to be improved on. I felt bad for the bride and groom that just wanted to have a happy and easy day. This venue made EVERYTHING difficult. Incompetent is the best word to describe their wedding day coordination. First of all vendors, bridal party and bride and groom were not allowed on property at all until 3:00pm the day we were there. The ceremony was starting at 5pm. That means all of the reception and ceremony décor had to be set up in about 45 minutes as guests began to arrive at 4pm. When the photo team, videographer and DJ arrived in the parking lot at 3pm they were greeted by a woman and man on a golf cart (she must be an owner or manager) and were told to wait in the parking lot until 3:30pm and that they could not go down to the venue to set up or drop off gear until then. The family of the bride and groom were scrambling to put things together before guests arrived and the coordinator Angela was ZERO help not to mention she was rude to the groom when he arrived with a car full of décor to drop off. Angela also told the photo and video team that she could not turn the market lights in the tent on until 10 minutes before ceremony which meant the photographer was given about 5 minutes to do ALL of the reception photos under the tent. During first look we asked the few employees who were standing near by if they could give us 5 minutes to do photos and they didn't. They are literally walking around and behind the bride and groom in every single photo. We were told to do the first look at the ceremony location by Angela because she said employees were done with setup over there...well I guess they were done but they didn't care about giving the bride and groom 5 whole minutes to have a moment. The bathrooms at the venue were under construction so portable toilets were available for guests. The portable toilets were right next to the reception space and right in eye view of the pretty trees that are wrapped with lights and the backdrop of the dance floor. So every photo taken from that angle has a lovely white portable toilet trailer in the background. However, the toilet trailers were clean so at least there's that. This venue I believe is a summer camp and "retreat" venue first and foremost and that's very evident when you walk around the property. There are picnic tables everywhere lined with red and white checkered plastic table clothes (right next to the ceremony space) along with a dunking tank. Dinner that was served buffet style was pretty good however dinner ran about 25 minutes late. If you have already booked this venue maybe bring in your own coordinator and team. Pay extra to be "allowed" on to the property early so you can get the photos you need (especially if you plan to do a first look or any photos before ceremony) and not feel stressed about time. For almost $12000 you would think people who worked there would be nice and accommodating at least to the bride and groom. The website for this venue says that they include a "professional planner + day of coordinator" nothing about this experience was professional. It's ridiculous that they wouldn't even allow other vendors to come in and do basic set up and walk through of the venue to prepare for the wedding. In my opinion there are lots of incredible venues in Northern California and I would do a hard pass on this one. read more

My husband and I are outdoor lovers and the Ranch provided the perfect, beautiful, tranquil atmosphere that we wanted for our big day. Despite living all the way in Washington State, planning the wedding was so easy thanks to the help of our amazing and brilliant coordinator Gillian! She made sure we had every detail thought out and she was so accommodating to all of our needs. She even helped us to make a last-minute traditional Korean wedding ceremony possible at the venue the day before our wedding. Had my wedding here this month,let me just say Angela needs to be re-evaluated. When we originally signed our contract Gillian was working there and she clicked with us perfectly. Angela literally had no idea what was going on the whole time. The day before the wedding we dropped off all the decorations and she had no idea who we were and asked when my event was...not a great start. My guest were not up at the ceremony space when I arrived so literally EVERYONE saw me before I walked down the isle. Her response was "well why didn't you call?" I told her I called repeatedly and no one answered. She literally went "oh well". Might I add I arrived when she told me to! Then the power went out so we started a half hour late,then had to rush through the whole reception and still had to end by 10. We didn't even get to thank our guest or really dance. Lastly she put out our cake and our guest mini cakes AT THE COCKTAIL RECEPTION. So when we cut cake everyone already ate all the mini cakes. I told Angela MANY times when to put them out. My advice for any potential couples looking to book her is hire an outside coordinator!! And every time you talk to Angela make sure she understands 100000% percent! For the price you have to pay you would think their coordinator was top notch but unfortunately that isn't the case here. Overall my guest had a great time,the venue itself is beautiful. I love this place! My company plans summer events here regularly. The food is very good. There are lots of games and activities for all ages. The staff is super friendly and they are even able to provide a golf cart for elderly visitors. Their bathrooms are clean. There is NO cell phone coverage...but honestly...this is a PLUS. read more

This place only gets one star for the nice park location. Everything else was horrible. We just had our company picnic there last weekend and it was definitely not worth the money. Bees were everywhere around food and beverage stations as well as the picnic areas. Employees were not organized and didn't know how to 'speak up' in front of a group to organize the games we played. Food was yuck! Tri-tip was chewy and very red in the middle plus it was cold. Chicken was only dark meat legs. Beans were soupy. Restriction of either ice cream or popcorn to one per wrist band wasn't advised before booking or attending. Ran out of cups at drink station. Food was supposed to be served until 2:30pm and closed at 2pm. Oh and did I mention all the bees EVERYWHERE. They didn't hand out our Company Gift bags to the children during registration process. Personal attendant was assigned multiple companies and hard to work with because of other company needs. Food lines were very long for six parties and over 300 people. For my high school's senior picnic, instead of going to Waterworld like past years, we went to this place with the promise of better food and more fun. Even though I was promised these things, I feel as though those promises went unfulfilled. First off the attractions. There was a pool, rock climbing wall, obstacle course, water slide, and archery. While these things were fun in and of themselves, with the sheer magnitude of people in attendance (500+ people), the management of lines was terrible. For every single activity we had to wait on average an hour to an hour and a half. This meant that we could technically go on all the attractions, but only once. I understand the wait with the amount of people present, however they should find a better way to manage crowds since this is a venue for a relatively large amount of people. I was promised good food and good food I was not given. The hamburger was alright, but running out of ketchup? Really? The fruit salad was disgustingly warm, the salad was watery and vinegary and just in general the food was a disappointment. I didn't starve, but I was still left dissatisfied. All in all this place was a definite disappointment. I wouldn't recommend you come here unless you've prepared with a whole reservoir of patience and no appetite for good food. read more

Went to little hills today for company picnic and the customer service was great. One worker that stood out to me was russell. He helped me throughout the day and worked hard to make the kids laugh. read more
