It doesn't look like much on the outside and even looks closed but they make a pretty good breakfast. Inside is that old country diner feel, greasy spoon food! Daily specials are great, good portions and an all you can eat fish fry on Friday's. I really enjoy the biscuits and gravy but have had the meatloaf and French dip which was actually pretty good. It's out of the way but i do drive down once a week to grab breakfast, it worth giving it a try if you are in the area! read more

I have been a few times and I like this place a lot. Old interior brings great memories, and a friendly staff. Plenty of food and a great place easily missed because of location, but oddly once you know where it is, it is a GREAT location. Food tastes great. I don't know why I had to add that, you'd expect that, but just in case, the food I am served is great! read more

All you can eat? My wife and I walked in to the ranch house at 715. Knowing they closed at 8,i asked if it was too late for us to show up for all you can eat fish fry. The owner said "no problem! Come on in." long story short, after my second serving, he told me they were shutting the fryers down. The owner was rude to my wife and i, and we will never go back. The waitresses, were amazing. And I'm sorry they had to deal with this peice of work. We witnessed him being rude to the amazing help he had. The way he talked to them reminded me of when I was in fast food as a teenager. We keep going back to this establishment, to no fault of my own. I recommend this guy sells his business to someone that cares about small businesses. It would be better without him. What an amazing place for food! There was 6 of us and never a complaint! Everything went smooth and talk about taste? Everything tasted great! I had the fried chicken, and the fries had the best batter on them. The ranch dressing was homemade and the best I've ever ate. Their garlic bread was to die for! The other 5 in our group had different meals and they to was amazed at their dinner. I don't like pie but my wife had their homemade apple pie for desert and said it was the best she's ever ate! For what you get it's no where worth their prices. For taste, you must have grown up on welfare rations, box & can cooking or a parent who did not know how to cook... Who the heck deep fries bacon? Removes all the taste out of it.. Come on man, a beginner cook knows this... Oh don't forget to order cheese on your omelet or you wont get any or if any very little, and six small pieces of ham in the Denver omelet, is not a Denver omelet... This place uses cheap smart & final and Restaurant Depo products. Potions are average at best with taste and preparation not anywhere close to correct or good. I have repeatedly tried this place over and over and still the same old horrible food. Went here with friends for breakfast. Perfect little hole in the wall type of establishment, looks like the floors were recently redone, but the rest of the place looked it's age. It's fine, they don't cater to a fancy crowd, they keep their menu simple (albeit large) and prices according to the area. The republican eyes were plentiful, since it was SD Pride weekend and I happen to wear a rainbow colored baseball long sleeve tshirt, and short shorts, I could feel the Judgy McJudgerson looks from men & women alike. Patrons aside, food was good, portions were right, and service was friendly and fast. Not sure if I'd come back if given the choice, but Lakeside/Winter Gardens only has so much of a choice maybe, unless we go to a chain like Dennys or Ihob(ihop?) or something like that. read more

We were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food! I know this sounds weird but the eggs were so fresh and tasty. There were six of us from 2-47 years old and we all loved our food. The decor is a little dated but that just adds to the charm. There were only two servers in during our visit but they handle it well. So we stopped in again today and had the same user friendly service. Unfortunately the flavor of the food this time wasn't as great. I ordered the steak sandwich and while it was cooked to my specifications it could have been seasoned a bit better. That being said though... where else can you go and get a decent 12 Oz steak and salad for only 12 bucks? Add some A1 and it's a perfectly respectable sandwhich. My hubby had the chicken fried steak sandwhich which was also a HEALTHY sized serving, and it was "missing something". He ordered it with a side of gravy which he said made it better. Came in for lunch and got the Chicken Fried Steak sandwich, Not sure why I ordered this, maybe because I've never heard of one so I thought I would give it a try. The "chicken fried steak" was a super thin, mystery meat in a chicken fried coating. I think the premise would work, if you made it with a decent chicken friend steak, but this wasn't it. My go-to for breakfast! I am so glad they re-opened once COVID-19 restrictions lifted. We decided this would be our 1st sit down restaurant with new COVID restrictions and it was great! Staff was energized and happy to be there, owner was greatful and thanking all the customers, and catching up with many of the regulars. Did the "breakfast near me" challenge. Found this restaurant while driving out in East County - San Diego. It appears to be sort of a hole in the wall place. Old decorations, possible usual crowd type of people. Prices on the food seem to be very fair. Several small tables and a couple of booths throughout the dinning room. Purchased the breakfast for obvious reasons. Tried the "Cowboy Breakfast" and some french toast, with orange juice to wash it all down. Food came out no problems, hot and ready. Tasted fresh and about the same as Janet's Cafe, a good breakfast to start the day. Recommend givng this place a try. I will be coming back to try something on the lunch menu in the future. Use to love this place for many years. It's gone down hill over time. We use to go every Saturday afternoon like clockwork. After a bout of us all (4) of us getting diarrhea we took a year break. Went back as we loved the ice tea and service. Was pretty good for a couple of months but noticed you had to pick and choose what you ate on your plate as some like the veggies tasted funny or down right cold. Loved the early bird on Saturdays cause the meals included the drinks and a family of 4 that's a huge savings. The last time over a month ago it was horrific. My wife was literally throwing up in the parking lot. 2 of us had severe diarrhea about an hour later. WE ARE DONE WITH THIS PLACE. Too bad as it was once a favorite over decades. read more

I was introduced to The Ranch House Restaurant a while back after I was referred by a friend. I was told they have an all-you-can-eat fish fry on Friday nights and had to go check it out first hand. This is an old school type of place that isn't much on location or appearance, but who cares if the food is good, right? I can only speak of the fish fry, as that is the only thing I've gotten on the few visits I've made. By now you've figured out by my multiple trips to feast on fish that it's half way decent. Did I mention it's all-you-can-eat? For $11.95, not only do you get AYCE fish, but EVERYTHING on the plate is AYCE. Deep fried white fish (Cod maybe?), coleslaw, corn bread, corn on the cob and french fries. I try not to go overboard on anything but the fish, but it's all good. I'm going for the fish. The rest of it is kind of just an appetizer and something to get the taste buds warmed up. Most nights they are open until 8:00pm, but they stay open until 9:00pm on Fridays and serve the fish fry until closing time. The staff are all small town friendly and the food is good. It gets a little busy, as you can imagine, but the waitresses stay on top of it and don't keep you waiting long. The fish is served hot and fresh and they're not shy about bringing you more. A classic diner: friendly servers, hearty food, it looks nicer and homier inside than out. Type of place where they recognize you by face and greet with you a smile and a few jokes. This place was exceptional. We heard of this place for the first time from a friend who suggested going and boy, were we pleased. I did some research on Yelp about his place and was actually quite hesitant from going based on some of the reviews. Honestly, I thought it was going to be a cheap Denny's ripoff. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with a sweet smile. The entire place was lovely, no blaring loud music, no rowdy kids and just a quaint, wholesome experience. (Even the owner put the Padre game on for me!) The food was superb, my first ham steak in years that was beyond my expectations. Juicy, tender and oh so sweet. Sunnyside eggs cooked to perfection but my only little bit was that the potatoes were a little too undercooked for me but still edible! Humble little restaurant situated next door to a mobile home sales office. This double-wide-sized beanery offers basic Americana-style breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. We were there this sunday morning ready for some breakfast grub. My western scramble was kind of dry and unmemorable. Toast was nice and toasty. GF's sirlion scramble was much the same. One nice thing: the coffee was good and refills were frequent. Staff is quick, friendly and smiling (always a plus with me). We met the owner on exiting and he was very nice, too. Great little diner for local folks, it's nothing fancy but the food is great for a roadside restaurant. Staff is alwasy friendly and breakfast is alwasy good, hard to beat 2 eggs, 2 bacon, hashbrowns, toast, and pancakes for $5.00. They have great sausage gravy to go with your biscuits. Coffee refills are fast and consistant. The bloody mary is ok, although like a meal in themselves. As for dinner, I'm not a big fan, but I hear I need to give the fish fry a chance. read more

Love this place! Local Diner for sure, every other weekday morning at about 7AM the parking lot is filled with Police cars getting their Morning grub. M-F they have daily breakfast specials (breakfast served all day), most at about $5, portions are huge, waitresses are friendly. Today 11/23 is my moms birthday. She passed in March of this year. Last year I was disabled so I wasn't able to take her out for her birthday she wanted to go here. Today I got the sandwich she wanted the French dip special. It was a very emotional day and when I told my waitress Sarah about what I was doing she was very sympathetic and understanding about what I was going through. Service is good. the food , well lets say they could use some experienced cooks. the effort needs to be put in place with regards to the way the food is prepared, for instance, the home fries potatoes could use some sprucing up, the bacon does not belong in the deep fryer, (Not Joking), this place has potential.
