Rancherito's is, and has always been, on the low end of mid-tier Mexican. The value proposition was there though... It's not amazing food, but it was cheap and the portions generous. Not any more. $15 burritos? I'm out. I can turn 180 degrees, walk 50 feet and eat a much higher quality product at Real Taqueria for less. It's been a while since I've been to a molcasalsa (I don't generally go to restaurants any longer at all, unless it's to write a review here or, slightly more frequently, to get some food for a video, but for a time, I was at one of these joints at least once a week, if not more often, and sifted through nearly all of them of which I was aware in the valley. I vaguely remember a Rancherito's, long gone now, closer to me, that had a massive carnitas chimichanga on the menu, which looked really good and I always wanted to one day get for myself (I could not find it on the menu at this location, alas) and figured that might still be the case. But...I suppose I'm a tester at heart, so instead, I went with my standard order for a first time visit, which was the carne asada plate. Gone are the styrofoam clams, in favor of a metal pie tin with a plastic lid. Not sure how much we're trading up there, tbh. They only partially messed up the order, which I appreciated. The carne asada portion was three slabs of honestly kind of pasty looking skirt steak, not the usual cut up and charred on the flat top most places do. I definitely prefer the other way, due largely to a deep and abiding affection for the Maillard effect. The flavor on the steaks was fine, but this is nowhere near the best carne asada I've had and if I were to rank this entire restaurant with that as the baseline, it would be near the bottom. I figured these were a chain, but it was quite a sea change between this and the other location. Beans were fine, more or less the usual, albeit very skimpy on the cheese, while the rice had a faint sort of chemicaly taste, as if someone left it a bit too close to a bottle of spray cleaner. This is probably going to sound trite, but if I know one thing in this life, it's that the devil is in the details and as long as they keep slinging me out some massive tortillas warmed on a flat top, I will continue to think that whatever I paid (I think $13 for this) was worth it. Yes, the prices have gone up, but I still can't finish one of these plates without pushing myself. The efficient part of me also notes that I can simply halve the portion and have another carne asada burrito later, maybe the next day, if I'm smart about it, and so, that's what I usually do and did here. I usually head to Real Tacos when I'm in this area, as this parking lot is fucking nuts and I hate it, but while I was underwhelmed, I'd maybe consider giving this place another shot, though that one, if it were to happen, would be a make or break. read more

It's open 24/7, making it the perfect place to go if you get the late-night munchies. Though the portion sizes are large, the quality isn't great. Not as bad as Taco Bell, but still fast-food quality. I got some really fatty chicken in my burrito and my stomach was getting upset not even halfway through. Would I discount Rancheritos completely? I did not appreciate the way I was treated when I tried to get clarification at the window on what I had ordered. I tried to make it as clear as possible when I ordered that I wanted chips only with salsa on the side. When I was handed my order, I reiterated what I I had wanted and the woman who was helping me got an attitude and very exaggeratedly rolled her eyes at me. Meanwhile, I was calm, polite, and friendly. I understand language barriers are frustrating. I tried to be as crystal clear with my order as possible, and I was patient and friendly when I asked for clarification. If you are not clear what people are asking, please ask questions until you are sure you're on the same page as the other person. I didn't deserve the attitude or the eye rolling when the mistake was not mine. I'm sorry if I was misunderstood, but please just ask! If this is how you treat your guests, I'm done. When I want a big ole breakfast burrito I come here. For $7 you get a whopper of a burrito. I get the steak and cheese with sour cream. I order it with guacamole but never get it; they put sour cream in it but it's only at one end of the burrito. The inside dining area is dingy and the kitchen looks dirty but it is what it is. This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to... I went initially because it was close to home, but I fell in love with their food. Their (Gabino and the crew's) food is far better than Betos or any other drive-thru Mexican food. My personal favorites are their breakfast burritos...never soggy...always piping hot and never light on the meat or good stuff. The rolled tacos are also pretty amazing. I am a huge fan of this restaurant and the people that work there are extremely friendly and professional. I have never been sick from eating here which I can not say about any other fast food Mexican food. They are safe in my book by all means and a personal favorite. The only thing to consider is calling ahead while you are on your way, they are VERY POPULAR so it pays to get your order in before you get there. Just got home and ate half of my carne asada fries. I saw a piece of meat that looked weird so I took it out and it was raw chicken. I am absolutely disgusted and will probably get salmonella now. Do not eat here, they clearly do not know what they're doing or are intentionally placing raw meat into their food. You don't come to Rancheritos for authenticity, you might want to curb that expectation going in. You come to Rancheritos for highly addictive, sugar bombed, "Mexican Food" that hits the spot. As a Vegetarian, I'm usually cornered into the massive bean and cheese burrito. Although, back in the day I used to go in on the carne tacos (yum) and the huevos rancheros (double yum). Salsa bar is stacked and at your beck and call. While everything is good enough, I must say, the tortillas are actually hella bomb. Definitely elevates from your standard T Bell or Del Taco. Cheap, casual, fast and just a bit grimy. I wouldn't love her though if she changed. Moved here from San Francisco and have struggled to find 'mission style' authentic Mexican food ever since. While I didn't care too much for their guacamole or jalapeños, I custom ordered a burrito to make sure it had what a typical California burrito would have (minus potatoes, ew) and I was amazed to find a lot of authenticity in their food. The salsas were actually spicy and loaded with different flavors, the refried beans reminded me of my grandmother's, and I felt good old satisfaction after eating it. When ordering over app or online there's an option for "Special Instructions". They never follow, last order I asked for 6 green sauce across 3 items in my order. I received 0 sauce. 2 items had lettuce, I asked for it on the side, one small side of lettuce was received. Almost every location. I work at a bar so I order late. Never get it right. And I know they are simple requests which is why it's so crazy they never get it right. No location. They just need to get rid of the special instructions suction. read more
