    Margarita Flight
    Eric S.

Amazing Mexican restaurant located in the heart of Holladay. Parking can be a little tricky however we discovered there's a parking garage behind this plaza. Taqueria 27 has a full liquor menu so there are many adult libations to choose from. They just started offering a Margarita Flight which is so cool. It's a mix of 4 different Margarita flavors to choose from. Our server tonight was on her third day but she was friendly and helpful and accommodating for our large group. We selected the carne asada and the fried chicken tacos. Delicious! Served with a side of rice & beans or street corn. Such an amazing meal full of flavor. Then to cap off our evening we shared a slice of the mango cake which was fresh and flavorful. There are several locations around the valley but our experience here at the Holladay restaurant was GREAT.

Top: Citrus pork / TOD: Halibut Bottom: Pork Belly / Asada

These aren't your average "street" tacos and are more the designer / boujie type fare. Take note. Started with the G.O.D. which was a pineapple / cucumber guac and it was stellar. Portions were really small for the $11 price tag but for $8 I wouldn't say a word. But again, this is a hipster taco place. The tacos were excellent. ~$4 a piece and they come two to an order. Pretty good bargain for what you are getting. The Carne Asada were my favorite. The sauce, the well-charged meat, and the fries inside made a great combo. The Pork Belly were good, a little too "smooth" in flavor. The cherry tomatoes set a little acidity which was nice but that PB is so fatty it really needs a flavor to offset it a little stronger. Next time I'll throw more hot sauce on it. The wife ordered the T.O.D. which happened to be halibut. She chose grilled instead of fried and these were fantastic. Fresh fish tacos are a category of their own. Her other selection was the Citrus Pork and while good, were not something she would opt for again. We decided "3" is the perfect number of tacos and gluttony sets in as you try and polish of the 4th.

Guacamole of the day (G.O.D.): balsamic reduction, habañero, Gorgonzola and mixed berries

Try a local take on specialty tacos with unique combinations of ingredients and guacamole combinations. Be careful about the flavor combinations, as strong flavors concede to nuanced layers instead. If you want great service with a smile, Gerri is the server to ask for. Pouring rain and empty stomachs drive us to T27 tonight. We started with appetizers: queso fundido (w/turkey chorizo) and the G.O.D. (guacamole of the day -- today was mixed berries, Gorgonzola, habañero and a balsamic reduction). The queso could have been hotter in temperature and the turkey chorizo lacked spice, something I was hoping would carry over from its Mexican cousin. It was not, resulting in a bland mixture that wasn't overly bad as much as simply just forgettable. The guacamole, according to my compatriots who actually like and ate it, was extremely flavorful and a burst of complimentary flavors that was well worth finishing. I had the turkey chorizo with chipotle sauce tacos and a second order of the T.O.D. (taco of the day): BBQ beef with mashed potatoes. As I had ordered the tacos prior to the queso, I had a sinking feeling that I knew how the turkey would turn out and I was right -- bland. I highly recommend that T27 spice the turkey up a bit and not rely on table sauces for that. Nevertheless, I ate them. What? I was hungry... The beef tasted a bit better but I did add some chipotle table sauce just in case it was as nondescript as the turkey. I didn't eat my last taco. This led me to save my stomach space for dessert. The tres leches cake had almonds on top and cream. It is enough for two or possibly three if being thrifty with the spoonfuls. I didn't like much the way it was served, which is likely due to my having this dessert every so often from Argentine and Central American restaurants. The churros with ice cream was the winner in this space. I've been here before and recalled liking it, but this recent experience disappointed me. I'm sure that many of you will enjoy it as is and that's okay, but for me I was looking for stronger flavors and a little more congruency. Gerri did a good job with the service here and I would ask for her again.

This is a nice weekend spot for fresh tacos and margaritas The wait was about 15 mins we were checked in by a lovely host wearing a mask after that we were ask to wait outside which there was a heater so that was keeping us toasty After that we were walked inside it was a rustic theme and wood textures and types all around. The waiter got us water first off which was cool then introduced " Daily " Items there is a fish, taco, etc. The menu is here https://www.taqueria27.com/food-menu/?doing_wp_cron=1614455759.9460721015930175781250 For starters we got the grilled shrimp tostoda bites which made up of a house made chip, baslimc vinger, and fixings and fresh shrimp they were delicious. While sipping on our house margaritas which had a blood orange in it and a perfect blend of achool and sweet. After that we moved on to the tacos did I mention fresh made tortillas I got the pork belly ones also know as TBLA they have an amazing sliced of pork, fixings. Then also got the Angus carna sada tacos the steak was well picked out perfect slice for this taco, it had French fries in as well so it was like steak and fries I thought it was genius and well thought out the chimichurri was so good. Overall it was perfect, fast service , tasty tacos and the margaritas probably could had a few more If you want an awesome taco experience this is a place definitely should check out.

Grilled Pear & Roasted Beet taco gets 2 stars in my opinion (sorry- just strong flavors and not my thing) but I appreciated the innovative menu offerings and like that they have various salsas to choose from, including cream-based salsas. I'll be back to try the mushroom tacos and update my review accordingly!

$60 for two bitty drinks and a spoonful of guac is ridiculous. We used to love this place but sorry to say we probably won't be back.

Good selection of tacos, unique style and combinations, keeping the Mexican style. Wish the orders came as 3 tacos, not only 2.

The staff was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was very clean. First of all, Muertos Cantina is a total vibe! The inside is so cool with fluorescent lighting, colorful decor and bottles displayed beautifully behind the bar. Even the bathrooms are worth mentioning! Each one is decorated differently with tons of bright colors. Seriously, each bathroom is like its own little fiesta sanctuary. Now for the FOOD! They start you off with fresh tortilla chips and a trio of salsas, and the chips were AMAZING (especially the flour chips). Each salsa had its own completely different flavor. The Red Chile Arbol had some heat, the Chipitle Lime Crema was smooth & creamu, and then there was the milder Tomatillo Verde, which was my favorite. Soooo good! We also tried the Agua Frescas. They were refreshing, flavorful and really pretty to look at. The watermelon was probably our least favorite, but to me anything watermelon flavored can sometimes taste a little watered down. The pineapple was definitely the winner because it was way more flavorful and satisfying. Then came the Elote Corn Dip. YUMMY! It had fire roasted corn, cheese, spices, crema, pico de gallo, cilantro and Tajín. It had so much flavor and texture. Definitely one I would order again. My daughter chose the Birria Ramen, and I think this might have been her favorite part of the meal. It had slow cooked beef birria, consommé, melty cheese and ramen noodles with cilantro and red onions, plus lime and radishes on the side. It had a little spice to it and was absolutely packed with flavor. She loved it! My husband ordered one of their burritos with a side of tater tots. The kid in him was VERY happy that tater tots were an option. And FYI the burritos here are HUGE. I ordered the Smothered Spicy Chile Verde Burrito, and OMG. It had braised pork in chile verde sauce with rice and refried black beans, wrapped in a flour tortilla and then smothered with MORE chile verde, melted cheese and chipotle lime crema. It was MASSIVE and SO GOOD! I honestly have yet to find anything in Reno that compares to this one. I would order it again in a heartbeat. And whatever you do, SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT! We got the churro beignets, and they were fantastic. Covered in cinnamon sugar and drizzled with caramel and condensed milk... seriously, what more do you need? They were the perfect way to finish the meal. Muertos Cantina ended up being such a great first stop on our Utah trip. Fun atmosphere, really good food, huge portions and so many different flavors. Again the atmosphere set the entire vibe for our meal. Yelp came through for me again!

The food is still very good here and some of my previous gripes are no longer an issue. I can now order tacos and burritos à la carte again. While there is still no way to go pick whatever salsa I want and the options are still more limited than before, at least they bring out 3 of my favorites with the chips now. The drinks are still just okay , a shadow of their former selves and I will never be able to accept the loss of my beloved watermelon margarita, the way they used to make it, but I will concede the drinks are decent. Service was fine. Parking is a hassle but that's just Sugarhouse. ‍ So yeah, I guess I'm back to "willing to eat here once in a while", from "I'm never eating here again". They even have a nice taco Tuesday deal which I may hit up in the near future.

She raved about the flavor and could only finish half. I ordered a unique taco which had an authentic name this gringo cannot remember but it was built on a house made corn tortilla about twenty inches long and ten inches wide. Food: interesting salsa, includes celery, tad too watery, but decent. I got the Chihuahua Combo which came with a Chili verde enchilada, beef enchilada and a chili relleno. Chili Verde Enchilada: the flour tortilla was doughy and I couldn't eat it. The chili Verde however was really good, with a nice picante spice. Chili Relleno was good, though the egg batter was a tad bit wet, maybe eat that first. Beef Enchilada disappointed as it was just ground beef.
