This restaurant has been recently revamped, renovated and repainted. We had a lovely meal with a pitcher of the lime margaritas. The flauntas were huge and the cheese quesadilla was gooey. I had the coconut shrimp which had 6 large ones in the appetizer! The sauces for dipping were flavorful and delicious. And it was served on a salad bed of lettuce, peppers and onions. The service was slightly odd. We had to point to things on the menu we wanted, which is ok for us. We are very tolerant and accepting of language barriers! Worth it!! read more

They have a whole vegetarian menu. However, I came to find out that they use chicken stock in their rice while advertising rice as safe. Absolutely appalled that they would blatantly lie on a vegetarian menu. If you are vegan or vegetarian do NOT go here!! read more

A solid 4 star restaurant! They're not perfect but pretty dang close! The decor really stands out as fresh, clean, ranch style. High ceilings, browns and blues, modern tile throughout- a really nice space! Weekday evening for dinner with the family was very good. The menu is HUGE, like, too huge. Took us forever to find a chimichanga on the menu but they have it indeed! Hubs got the chimichanga, I went with a Combo #1 with two enchiladas, one taco and rice. Kiddos split a cheese quesadilla and endless chips with salsa. Highly recommend also ordering the white cheese for dipping! It was delicious. The owner/manager personally came over to verify our coupon, $7 off two entrees. They're looking for the "Town Money Saver" stamp, so make sure to look it up before you head in! As far as prices, I think all the meals were well priced. We did not partake in alcohol since it was family night but the drinks passing us by looked large and yummy! Well, here's my take on Rancheros. Our server was EXCELLENT. Attentive, repeated stuff back to us, positive attitude really great. Couldn't have asked for more. The menu IS extensive. Definitely takes patience and a little time if you want to to read through, take notes of likely candidates. The entire menu is a little expensive, for mexican, imo. The Moctezuma Molcajete is pretty great. Yes, a little price, but tons of food, multiple meats, and it comes in a specialty stone sort of goblet bowl, very thick, keeps the food hot THROUGHOUT the meal. Plenty of fajita and other veggies within, tortillas on the side, AND a large helping of rice and beans. Calorie count says you could/should split with someone else for a fantastic set of foods. (or box). My steak chile relleno (not deep fried) came with plenty of veggies and a lite cream/mexican spice sauce. Tons of food, delicious steak pieces. Recommended. Drinks are pricey. Meal prices are a bit elevated.. As someone else said, well-appointed atmosphere, feel very mexican without being overbearing at all in colors nor blaring music -- all that completely in check. Out door seating is fairly spread out -- come here for a breeze etc -- seems the only place with a view of nature that i can think of in the immediate vacinity. nice. Deserts were good/serviceable. Except the churros - burnt tasting, in this incarnation, and little to no cinnamon. Be prepared to send it back if necessary if you decide to try it. The leche cake desert thing was good. not huge. (average or below average sized). In fact, none of the deserts were large (contrasting with the Moctezuma Molcajete and chile 'relleno' (no breading). The place is pretty. It's new. It's clean. It has alcohol, happy hour and live music. It's so loud in there. It's like being at a concert or a sporting event. The food is bland. They have HUGE dinnerware, but where's the "BEEF" guy's. The meat was scarce in all our meals. We abandoned our normal Mexican restaurant for the new kid in town in hopes that this could be our new go to Mexican place. We were seated right away. It was extremely loud. The music was songs from 1970's old family sitcoms, not something expected from a Mexican venue. The menu is huge. There's pretty many photos that show you what you'll be getting. I really expected more from my chicken chimichanga. There were many bits of bland tasting chicken wrapped in a soggy shell covered with cheese sauce and bits of uncooked onions on top. On the side was the rice which was orange tasteless and room temp. With a bowl of black beans in the side. The pork chimichanga was a bit more flavorful but had large chunks of fat inside. The steak fajitas were short on steak and more tortillas are an additional charge. The cover of this book looks great. There's just no meat inside. read more

For those saying negative things... you have your opinions and have a right to them. English as a second language is hard to conquer. I'm not there to have my butt kissed... Very disappointing visit today. The restaurant is beautiful in presentation, however, the food left a lot to be desired. They served salsa and chips when we got our seats. Unfortunately the chips were thick, dark and " tasted like stale cardboard ". (According to my husband who generally loves chips. ). Salsa was flavorless also. Okay, they were free so I will move on to our entrees. I got the tamales Mexicano $14 and my husband got three cheese enchiladas at $11. You would hope for that price you would get rice and beans. Nope, no sides. Sour cream was an extra $2. With our soft drink and tea, the meal ended up around $40. Very. disappointing indeed. This is really good "gringo Mexican". If you're looking for super "authentic" (whatever that is in Cincinnati) Mexican, you will probably be disappointed. But if you just want some good Mexican food with some cheese sauce poured on top, this is your place. "Rancheros carnitas" are my go-to, flautist are good too. Lots of good standard Tex mex fare that isn't overly greasy like a lot of places. Service used to be slow but lately has been good. Easy quick lunch place. read more

I've been here three times now and I've enjoyed every time! I really enjoyed the lunchtime burrito the first time I was in. I wish I could figure out which one it is on the regular menu! Margaritas are wonderful! Portions are large and the food is great! I haven't been on the patio yet but my understanding is that the patio is non-smoking which is so hard to find in Cincinnati! We tried this place for lunch. It had a good vibe and the service was great. Since moving here from AZ have been trying to find an authentic Mexican restaurant. I tried the Chili Colorado and it was not very good. My wife had something with shrimp and said it was pretty good. First time eating here and can say with confidence that the food is good. It's fresh and hot and delicious. Go early enough and the food will come out before the salsa is gone. Salsa has a little bite but it's really good. It's smooth with some small pieces of onion, not chunky at all, if that's what you like. Queso cheese sauce is a bit pricey for the small amount you actually get and it's nothing special, unfortunately. Service was fantastic, waiter was very attentive. Brought extra iced tea without asking. Great personality and very helpful. Ambiance was huge day-glo faces painted on the walls, makes me wonder if they hit it with blacklight on special occasions which would make them really pop. Parking here is great if you want to walk, maybe even getting lucky enough to get a close spot. Outdoor seating looked nice, but didn't experience it. The same for the alcoholic beverages or beer, I cannot rate, since I didn't consume them. On a side note, the leftovers were just as good, if not better than the original! This place looks nice, the bar is a nice layout, but their kitchen is a mess. This review is based on two visits. The first visit I ordered Tamales. The tamales were very thin and almost all corn. They were seriously worse than the frozen tamales you get at Kroger. The second time I ordered shredded beef chimichangas. They brought out two rolls that looked two taquitos they were so small and when I cut one open it was full of ground beef. I will never return here after two back visits like this. read more

Let's start with I wanted to give them a try since they are close to my house. You know eat where you live, keep the money in your neighborhood. But this place reminds why I drive far away to eat. First off the place is like a concert hall with the noise. The live band was bad so very hard to enjoy your meal with a person that sings so bad. The decor nice but that only good if the food is good. The service was good but only if you can hear them talk over the level of noise. I ordered steak fajitas and I always do but thats how I determine if they know how to cook. That being said the quote wheres the beef is and understatement for this meal. It was like going to a mystery dinner and searching for the hidden steak. My wife and daughter ordered chimychunga and my wifes looked depleted compared to my daughter's . My wife had a huge piece of pork fat that she bit into. If anyone know that sucks. The rice was hard and the refried beans were more pureed that actual beans. Like a paste. In all the place looks great the seats felt old the music to loud and the service okay. Just wanted to try and finally eat where I live. Next time I will go where I know the food is great Los Cabos in Amelia is the best around. All the places in Anderson are the same just basic. Nothing that makes them stand out. read more

Surprisingly not busy for 6;00 pm on a Sunday. My husband and I both tried something different this time. He got the Street Tacos and I had the Rancheros Carnitas. I went to lunch there today and had a dish that had refried beans enchilada and taco all were beef. Absolutely excellent. I also had the guacamole, some chili con queso, and salsa with tortilla chips. The guacamole was as authentic as you can get to Mexico it is just like the guacamole for Matamora, Mexico! Really crazy good! All I could say is five star excellent food I'm definitely going back there the next chance I get if you want some really good Mexican go to rancheros in Anderson! Our first time here and not impressed with the food. I ordered enchiladas and they had no flavor at all. The chips and salsa were the best part of the meal. My wife experienced the same thing withy he chicken steer tacos where the corn tortillas over powdered the lack of flavor of the food. We visited here for the first time Monday, had a terrific lunch, I posted a check in of our meal, and appetizer. The rancheros dip was amazing! Our food was great. We will def be back. Only negative was my fiance's long island. The first of two was a little too sour, but the second was so Incredibly sour that even after me adding Coke to it, and the server adding Coke, it was undrinkable. But our server was kind enough to remove it from the bill so all is well. The decor is really gorgeous, and at the booth tables at least, there are outlets at each one up on top so you can charge your devices, nice touch. read more

This restaurant is okay. The food hits the spot for a typical Mexican restaurant - tacos, rice, and beans can't get much different from place to place. They do have a nice outdoor patio but they weren't seating outside when we went on a sunny warm weekday night which was odd. We ordered fish tacos, combo #8, combo #4 and a quesadilla. All were satisfactory. There wasn't anything special or delicious about it. The service was decent - we were served very quickly. Called to place a our order, and because they don't have a website (the one listed on yelp is apparently for another location?), I asked if they had a certain kind of fajitas, and whether or not it was large enough to share. They said it was, so I ordered that along with the rest of our meals. When I got the order home, I had been given the wrong fajitas, no tortillas, and only one bag of chips despite having ordered a large queso. Called the restaurant back, and the hostess said the manager would fix things if I drove all the way back, which I couldn't do. The hostess then promised that the manager would call me back to find another way to make things right, but never called. My wife had been here twice before and had been happy with the food and service. This was our first time together. I ordered the Steak El Mejor, which was cooked beautifully, and the side of potatoes was good. The included a salad that was not dressed and when I asked for ranch dressing the server brought a packet of dressing. That made the salad just okay. I had a glass of overpriced just-okay Sangria with the dinner. My wife had a taco salad: the hamburger was underdone and not at all flavored - no "mexican" spices at all. I tasted it. Very bland. She also had Coke Zero, which was the most expensive soft drink offering at any restaurant we've been to. There are so many restaurants within a 5 mile circle of this restaurant, including at least two better Mexican restaurants within a mile of this one, that there is no reason to give Rancheros Cocina another chance. read more

Rancheros is just ok. I walked into this strip mall Mexican dining establishment expecting/hoping to see the typical chintzy decor, but it's actually a beautifully decorated, modern restaurant. That being said, I tend to stay away from the modern "fancy" Mexican restaurants because they have the exact same food as the divey places... just served on nicer plates, at higher prices. We started off ordering two large margaritas, but were told that they were out of the big margarita glasses. Fine, whatever, we got the smaller ones. Just seems silly to not be able to serve a menu item because you're out of glassware. Anyways. It was busy so service was pretty slow and our waiter was overwhelmed. The food was fine, comparable to any other Mexican place in a strip mall... just pricier. The ambiance is nice and comfortable and they play really good music... But I would still choose the sticky-booth, outdated, no frills Mexican dining experience over this place every time. read more

Decided to try this place for lunch this week with my sister and our two kids. The food tasted delicious, however, the service was awful. About half way through the meal, we noticed medium length, straight black hair in two of our dishes. We alerted the waiter because we knew it didn't come from any of us. Two of us have long curly brown hair and the other two had blonde hair . Instead of having concern and/or asking us how they can make it right the waiter rudely told us how impossible it was that the hair came from anyone in the kitchen or from his head and that we definitely had to have put the hair in our own food. And that he couldn't help us. We told him to get a manager. He left, came back and told us the manager wasn't coming and he doesn't give discounts or refunds. At that point we paid and left. As we're leaving our waiter called us "cheap bitches" in Spanish because we left no tip. Sucks that they hire crappy staff because the food was actually tasty, minutes the extra hairs.. I have given this place and the other location in Eastgate they own a ton of business over the years. I come in at least once a week. Also, I always celebrate my birthday here. I did that again this year. I made a reservation for 18 people. We all showed up. We ended up with 3 extra people because someone who had surgery and wasn't sure she and her 2 kids could come were able to come out and celebrate. So I asked if we could have a booth along the side of our table (there were around 8 open ones right by the table & many more on the other side and even though it was Saturday I made my reservation earlier so they wouldn't be as busy yet & they weren't). I was told I couldn't have any other seating. I asked what we were supposed to do, did he want 3 people to stand and eat. Should I make 3 people leave?! I mean come on. He told me the reason I couldn't have any other seating was because it couldn't be the same server. Then later he said it was because it's Saturday and they might get busy later. So I asked to talk to the manager and no one would let me so I continued to be berated by the server that it was my fault I gave the wrong amount of people. It honestly could have easily been solved is where my frustration comes in. I was about to have 3 people walk out and pretend not to be in our party which is how totally illogical and ridiculous this whole situation is. So at one point I said do you want us to leave as everyone's started eating chips already but I don't want my guests to stand. And he word for word said 'I don't care go ahead and leave.' I guess I'm hurt more than anything because not only was the restaurant not busy but also I've supported this restaurant a lot and they ruined my day and embarrassed me. I know none of my 20 friends will be going back after how he made us all feel. I love the food but it will be awhile, if ever, before I can go back with how sad I am about this. At first I wondered how Rancheros Cocina Mexicana would fare in Anderson, given that Don Rigo's is located about a block away, but this place has a different style which may mean both Mexican restaurants can thrive. The owners have clearly invested in the decor and the restaurant is much bigger that I imagined. It's fresh, bright and clean and staffed by a young and energetic team. Of course, chips and salsa are a given as soon as we sit down. The chips are warm and not too greasy and the salsa is tasty. The first time we visited, it was for an early lunch so I opted for the Huevos con Chorizo. It was not an oversized portion -- just right for late breakfast/early lunch -- and hit the spot. I've also been for dinner and enjoyed the "La Mejor," a combo from the grill featuring a burrito and an enchilada with your choice of protein, rice and black beans. My husband had the "Grande Juan's," a good-sized chimichanga. Instead of the microwaved hot plate with red sauce that is standard at many Mexican restaurants, many meals here are topped instead with a light cheese sauce. The black beans are a refreshing change from refried beans and the yellow rice is a decent side. Grill combos run around $14 and feature grilled chicken, steak or pork. Combos are $10 and have shredded chicken or ground beef. The margaritas are tasty and not the Jolly Rancher-tasting glowing concoctions I avoid at other places.
