I was visiting Arizona as I do for my birthday every year. I was looking for good salsa and fresh tamales. I came here and could tell it was authentic. I got some salsa verde and pico de gallo and then got chicken tamales. They were all delicious!!! The chips are also thick which is nice for scooping up salsa, no fear of crumbling!! I dont understand how or why we have such a reliable, very high quality butcher shop in this part of town. The restaurant component is incredible too. Man, I keep getting so lucky with these little places. I'm doing laundry around the back of the building and I see the sign that says breakfast so I come inside. It's a whole meat market and grocery store full of tortillas and hot sauce and old, cowboy coffee, pots, and all kinds of stuff I get to smash biscuits and gravy and it is so amazingL the service was immediate. The ambience is great. There's flags all over the ceiling and some kind of doily cup of coffee was good and their meat selection is crazy awesome all kinds of spicy bacon and beef. I bet you can get a hell of a steak from here and bet they'll cook it up for you. If you are ever in Catalina, swing by here and try a steak. read more

The food is amazing!! I buy tortillas here and jerky. The tortillas have very minimal ingredients and taste authentic compared to the garbage that is in grocery stores. There are only a few ingredients in authentic tortillas. Service is always fast and friendly. They just remodeled this layout of the store and have more grocery type items. read more

We are regulars at the Ranchero Market. The meat selection is great. You can get all the goodies you expect at an excellent Mexican market--many salsas, the good tortillas (made with lard!), tamales, fresh ceviche, etc. Def recommend the pre-seasoned meats from the butchers. Grab the fixings and you are home grilling a great meal in minutes. The little restaurant inside is also great if you don't want to cook. The service is super friendly. I really like Rancharo's Staff. They are accommodating and friendly, and some of their products made in-store, like the beef or pork chorizo, are really a great find. They have given me no trouble with a return of under-par frozen meat.. Last week I went to the store, and they had already just locked the door but knew my face and let me in anyway. I picked up some Hatch peppered ceviche that was weird looking though it tasted great and some chorizo for later in the week. I really wanted some nice filet mignon, and they happened to be on sale. There were two left in the case, so I took them. As with many pre-wrapped foods, I couldn't see the other side of the steaks. When I got home and was ready to cook them I was appalled! They were nothing that would pass for a Fillet. Full of grizzled and sinew. I haven't told them or tried to have them reimburse me. I think they would, but that's not the point. I don't want to purchase food that looks good on the outside, but is "trick or treat" on the inside. read more

Everything about this place says homemade goodness. A friendly greeting and good food. The butcher counter selection is ample. Lots of variety and quality, including Angus beef. Homemade tamales are warm and for sale by the package. Mexican limes and other produce are available. Homemade soups , tacos and burritos are very tasty and served hot. Authentic and simple food. I am so glad that Ranchero Market remodeled and made the eat-in part more accessible. The place is spotless, employees are friendly and helpful. We have purchased, in the past, their delicious red and green chili and the BEST tortillas around. The chimichangas were great (I got enchilada style) and the burritos were delicious. What a gem of a Mexican Market. They have everything-- fresh meat, already prepared frozen items, grab and go, and tons of groceries. You can also order and eat at one of the few tables in the back area. The service was wonderful! The man behind the meat counter was helpful and very sweet. I ended up getting pre marinated carne asada and pollo asado-- one was seasoned with habanero and mango! When we grilled it, the meat was so tender and flavorful. Highly recommend stopping in and grabbing an entire meal from start to finish, so everything is authentic. Just the way Mexican food in Tucson should be. The girl at the register was also so kind! The ambiance was super chill, a come as you are sort of vibe. We hung out for a few beers then ordered food and I think the server came to check on us once which I appreciated because we were just passing time and we told him that. The food was hot and delicious. The birria tacos were moist, flavorful, and they had a nice salsa bar. Not superb but good. We also ordered their baked potato and it wasn't as good as other places. The toppings could have been more generous as we were left with a plain potato 1/4 of the way down but maybe we should have added some more stuff from the salsa bar. Overall, I'd say a nice place to go hang out and have some good tacos. read more
