We attended a wedding celebration there and the grounds are beautiful. The wedding couple were already married and they had a celebration here with cocktails and appetizers, dinner, speeches, cake, toasting and dancing. It was a fun time and the celebration was outdoors but they had heaters all around. We had to get to the banquet in the lower level and there are many steps which is the only negative. But the venue is enormous and beautiful. The food was delicious and a good time was had by all. read more

Absolutely loved this place! I went this past Sunday (3/12/17) with my boyfriend after purchasing a Groupon for wine tasting and we had a blast. I am a wine aficionado while my boyfriend rather drink beer. Upon picking up our flights of wine, they asked whether we wanted beer instead and I asked if we could do one of each -- they said yes! Needless to say, worked out perfectly. We brought a picnic (which I highly recommend) and we sat at a table under the shade with a beautiful scenery. After we were done with our drinks (which got us pretty buzzed), we went on a walk around their wildlife reserve and saw the white Bengal tiger :-) It was such a pleasant outing, we plan on coming back with family and friends! Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and had a great experience! You can reserve tables if you want and are allowed to bring outside food to go with your wine tasting. We all purchased the Groupon deal to get the wine tasting for $12 each - this is more of just purchasing a wine flight because they don't do anything more than hand you a wine flight along with a card describing the wines. It came with 2 red and 2 white wines, all were about 14% alcohol which gives you a pretty good buzz. Wines were just okay though. The area is really pretty and perfect for taking photos. Beautiful wedding venue. It is very romantic and elegant to have an event here. I think one or two of the bartenders were a little judgmental after we kept ordering drinks but the wedding was an open bar so not sure why there were some weird reactions. Some of the bathroom stalls are tiny and I'm a pretty petite person. Some of the bathroom doors almost touched the toilet seat. My only regret is that we didn't get there an hour before the wedding started so we could take pictures at all of the beautiful areas and look at the animals they have on the venue. We were looking for a nature like Setting for our Mothers Celebration of Life. She died suddenly and was not a fan of organized religion. This was the PERFECT place! Beautiful back drops, animals and tranquil...plus wine! The staffs at Rancho and 24 Carrot catering were absolutely awesome to work with. They made a very difficult time so much easier. It saddens me to write this review. A few months ago I was so excited to have my wedding at this gorgeous place- and would have never imaged feeling this way about the venue. This review is mainly directed to the owner, Jeannie Lawrence, who refuses to communicate with me or my parents, after many attempts. I feel inclined to write a review letting other people know our experience, and how we've been treated in a time of crisis by a seemingly great venue. We were supposed to get married on May 16th, 2020. For obvious reasons due to COVID, this couldn't happen. When the world turned upside down and we realized May would not be a safe time to host a 140 person wedding, we expected RLL to reach out to check-in and discuss options- no one ever did. In mid-March, we reached out to RLL expressing concern and seeking a backup plan. We were repeatedly told, "we are currently following CDC guidelines which will be re-evaluated on May 11th." So... what they were telling us was that they could potentially wait until May 11th to tell us whether or not our wedding could happen on May 16th, 5 days later. In the meantime, our final details meetings with 24 Carrots (RLL representatives) were all canceled. These meetings would typically be the time we made final decisions on the menu, give our final guest count, etc. How could they expect us to finish planning our wedding and be held to a date that could not be guaranteed? Not to mention hold us to a date that would not be safe for our guests? There are so many reasons that this was unreasonable to expect of us, it's pointless to name them all. When I asked if we could put a soft hold on a later date, the answer was "unfortunately, we do not do soft holds." If we wanted to move to a new date, we had to sign an additional contract and pay a new deposit- all while risking losing the deposit we had already paid for May 16th. We felt this was entirely unfair given the circumstances. We couldn't believe that wouldn't let us reserve a backup date in the midst of a global pandemic! We were willing and wanting to move our wedding to a date in November but we weren't afforded to opportunity to do this without financial loss. It became clear to us that RLL was going to try to hold us to May 16th and keep our venue fee at whatever cost. So, to be safe, we began looking at other venues in the area where we could put a soft hold on a future date. We didn't want to lose out on the few dates left in 2020 at RLL that were clearly being offered to couples with weddings before May 11th. Weeks later, we were finally offered the opportunity to move our date without paying additional fees. At this point, it was too late and we had already decided to go with the other venue- not because we liked it better. But because we were upset and disheartened by the way this whole situation had been handled by RLL. And because we still didn't know if they were ever going to let us move our wedding date. We were also confident that the CDC guidelines would prohibit large gatherings on May 16th, allowing us to legally collect our deposit. If RLL had let us move our wedding to the November date when we initially wanted to, without financial penalty, that's what we would have done. The CDC guidelines for shelter in place and no large gatherings remained indefinite through May 16th. We have yet to receive our venue fee or be contacted by the owner. Throughout this agonizing, stressful time, we asked to speak with Jeannie multiple times. We are being told that she does not want to talk to us, but that we can send her a letter. We have written Jeannie two letters- one before our wedding date passed, and the latest after May 16th, politely asking her to refund our deposit amount. Her contract states that if RLL is unable to offer an event due to circumstances outside of their control, fees will be refunded. On this day, she has yet to respond to us or refund us the deposit that is rightfully ours- according to her contract. I even found her on Instagram, asking her to please understand our predicament. She wrote a generic "we wish we could have helped you celebrate here" before promptly blocking me. Clearly, she knows she is in the wrong. We never wanted this or thought it would be taken to this point. I myself work in the wedding industry in the Bay Area and have not witnessed any couples who have had to postpone their wedding being treated this way by their venue. I understand this situation is horrible for everyone, and that we were all learning how to navigate an unforeseen time, but I think it is times like these in which people's true colors show. The bottom line is- RLL could NOT offer us a wedding venue on May 16th, 2020. It's a lot of money to us and we do not plan on letting this go. We find it deeply unfortunate that Jeannie cannot have a little sympathy and understanding in a time like this and that this is how RLL will now be remembered for us. read more

I discovered this place and fell in love with it as a wedding venue. I found a Groupon for beer and wine tasting, so I figured I'd check it out. I was aware of the $8 valet charge which I don't mind considering it probably helps with the costs of the animals. The wine they give to you on a flight and you're responsible for shuffling through the crowd to find a table to drink the wines without spilling. Wines: Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot noir and a red blend. Beer: Choose 4 of the 6. We sat down by the BBQ where frozen burger patties were being sold for $13. They did smell good and I believe the grilled onions added to the flavor, but it's a $5 burger imo. Bring your own food if you like to snack. Here is where they lose points. After drinking our flights we wanted to explore the property and see the animals (beware: if there is an event going on you can't explore the entire grounds). We decided to order one drink to carry. They had a sign with 4 signature drinks, I ordered one, my bf the other. One bartender tops off one drink with club soda and I look at him questioningly bc it's not listed on the drink. So they give us that drink free and go to make it again. Diff bartender pours something in it. I ask is that Chambord which was listed, he says no a different kind of liqueur. I could tell it was blue Curacao based on the bottling, however these products do not compare. Chambord is a $20 liqueur vs $5. I ordered the drink bc of the Chambord and I don't appreciate something being substituted without my permission. I'm glad I got to experience this place and to cross it off my venue list. I have lived 5 minutes away from Rancho Las Lomas for a few years and cannot believe I waited that long to come and check out this beautiful place. I purchased a Living Social for five people to tour the wildlife sanctuary on a Sunday morning. Upon entering you are directed to follow the valet parking only signs (only $6.00) which gives you a quick look at what your about to tour. It is by reservation only so everyone meets under this really cute arbor which is also a great spot to take your first pictures. The girl who took us on the tour was very knowledgeable and gave us a little education as well as great stories behind the animals. This place is beautiful, serene and inviting. I could see why so many brides would want to get married here. The tour was about 75 minutes which actually goes pretty fast, and the path was easy to walk with some dirt paths and steps. Some of the animals we got to see were emus, alpacas, exotic parrots, Lucy Goosey who responds to her name and the beautiful white tiger who looks very content with his quarters. After the tour we stayed on a bit to have a little wine, beer and whiskey at their bar that looks like a barn. The drink prices were very reasonable but it would of been nice to see one of the local wineries offering their labels. I really think I'm in love with this place. read more

It really is a nice venue to have a wedding at. There are many little areas to sit and enjoy the view. Bring sandals or shoes if you are coming here, because their are dirt paths. A part of me feels sad for some of the animals. I feel like they need more space to roam and walk freely. The cages are too small for such exotic animals. Thank you Groupon for introducing us to this gem! Due to our love of wine tasting, my boyfriend and I just found a great place to relax on a weekend. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: 1. This place also does beer tasting in addition to wine tasting. A flight of four 4 oz beers (including amber American ale, IPA, etc) is only $8. After your tasting, you can also get a 16 oz or so as well. 2. 5 wines per person, but there are three different levels -- our group gave us the first and basic Angeline line and we decided to upgrade mines to the middle level Bicani line. We ended up tasting 10 different wines because we each chose different levels! 3. $5 valet parking -- no real exception because this place is very secluded! *** IMPORTANT: When driving INTO the ranch, be aware that the bridge and most of the driveway is meant for one car. Also DRIVE ALL THE WAY INTO the ranch to meet the valet attendant. Ambiance: -We went on the PERFECT day in January. It wasn't cold but actually very warm and sunny. -Sat outside in the patio on wooden picnic tables. The tables were decorated with flowers in mason jars. SUPER RUSTIC! I loved the feel. -Inside the bar area is a large sitting area with TVs. -After we drank we walked around the property and enjoyed animals like: zebras, parrots, alpacas, an emu, a white tiger and two golden retrievers (I think these were the property's pets, so cute!). -The ability to walk around so freely was very enjoyable especially because it allowed us to sober up before driving back. (I'm a big fan of red.) -We met Susan who makes the salsa for the ranch! She made some excellent mayo based on that she brought from home and we talked about Oscar movies together. She's such a joy! Wow what a place! The epitome of a hidden gem. I hike back in Trabuco all the time and had no idea this was here. The grounds are stunning and huge...so many random buildings to host events and the landscaping is impeccable. We came for a friends 30th birthday and they had rented out (and stayed overnight in) this little house on property that had a big beautiful grassy area out back which was set up with tables and chairs for our wine tasting/dinner...you could easily host a small wedding just in back of the house. There's a small bar built into a cute little shack just down the hill from the house and you can grab a glass of wine or a local beer (they brew their own there!) and roam around and check out the zebras and the tiger or just admire the gorgeous setting. Our wine tasting was hosted by two very knowledgeable employees of the ranch and they set out a variety of cheeses and meats as well. Our birthday girl's mom cooked an entire meal for 30 people in the kitchen and we sat outside and enjoyed the fire pit for several hours. This place is magical...come for a daytime wine tasting with friends or on a date, or think about hosting a special event here, you will not be disappointed. The only fallout of the experience, was that the tiger was beautiful to look at, but absolutely should not be housed there. The tiger was sad, lonely and unengaged and it was a little infuriating to see. We came here to do wine and beer tasting. They have valet parking for $6. You do the tasting at an outdoor patio that has a barn feel to it. You get a flight of beer which were good and some pretzels. We also got a flight of wine. On top of that we also got some cocktails, the cocktails arent strong. We ordered food but they have a limited selection, the food is not from the venue but from a food truck. They had pulled pork sliders, goat cheese and sandwiches. I really wish they had fries because that's the best drunk food! You can walk around the wildlife park as well which was fun. I am writing this as a warning to all couples considering any 24 Carrots venues. I recently got married at Rancho Las Lomas and, although the venue is beautiful and the food was great, 24 carrots has got to be the most deceptive and downright awful company in the wedding industry. PLEASE do yourself a favor and double check EVERY single version of any contract with pricing info in it that they send you. 24 Carrots will repeatedly try to increase prices or add in hidden charges without any notice or explanation. We repeatedly had to fight them on these kind of deceptive pricing practices during the last couple months of our wedding and to say it was stressful and absolutely awful is an understatement. They act like they are the best in the business in client service, but it is the exact opposite. Couples should expect to be able to trust the people they work with in the wedding industry and how can you trust a company that is constantly lying to you about what you agreed to pay? I am a lawyer and have defended multiple companies for engaging in unfair and deceptive practices, but I've honestly never had a client who was engaging in the misconduct like 24 Carrots does. Be warned - the venues and food are great, but 24 Carrots provides the worst client service imaginable and will engage in illegal pricing practices. read more

Conner (sp?) was the guy we mostly dealt with and he was helpful and really nice. We could have walked around that place for days. I can see why it's a top wedding destination. I absolutely love this place, I had my wedding here. (I did both the ceremony and reception at this location.) A year and a half later people still tell me this was the nicest wedding location they have ever been to. When you rent out the location you rent out the WHOLE place; you do not have to share the space with any other events. This also means the cost is not cheap, but will give you the wedding/event of your dreams. They do have some strict requirements you have to abide by, which is a little bit of a pain. Beautiful place! Very friendly staff. We had the opportunity to visit this place because my neighbor who is a wedding planner invited me to their Special family day on Halloween. As you enter, there is this big nice wooden gate. It feels like a ranch! ;) and there is a sign that says private property... appointments only... so it gave you this wonderful feeling of going to an exclusive VIP members only kinda place.... The grounds was super clean!!!! Our favorite animal was the white tiger!!! She was beautiful! She had this nice water fall all to herself!!! If I was to get married again, I would celebrate here. The wine is tasty, the staff is extremely friendly and attentive, the cheese plate is fun, and the grounds are beautiful! As far as the actual wine tasting, there are three different categories. The groupon we bought was the cheapest category, the second category had four different wines and a sparking wine ($10 more per person), and the third category had five more wines ($20 more per person, I believe). We opted for the $10 more per person and were very pleased. One of the staff accidentally knocked a small glass of water into my friend's lap and felt terrible about it (although, let's be real, it was just water), and we ended up getting one more round of our favorite wine after the official tasting. I bought a Groupon deal for beer tasting with pretzels for a date with the wife. I had never been before and it looked like a cool place to check out. I scheduled my appointment for noon on a Sunday, but we were up in LA that morning and had to push back our reservation, which was no problem for them. We arrived around 1pm and were served instantly. Employees were friendly and every customer seemed to be enjoying themselves. After finishing our samplers, we purchased a couple glasses of wine and were free to roam the grounds. The place is absolutely beautiful - the gardens, the buildings, the animals - everything. Even the caregivers were pleasant and social. They educated us and even tried to get the alpacas to leave their food and be friendly! Two things to keep in mind when you visit: 1. I can not say enough good things about Rancho Las Lomas! My wedding day was magical and everything I ever dreamed of! My husband and I had a long engagement and had actually already had a place picked out and held (put a deposit down) I had always wanted my wedding at RLL, but didn't think we could afford it. Well, the stars aligned and my husband and I made the decision that it is our one big day and we are going to do it RIGHT and exactly how we wanted. We forfeited our deposit at the other venue and booked with RLL. It was the best decision we could have possibly made. The staff that I worked directly with Vanessa and Kara were SO sweet and always responsive with any questions I had. Everyone who attended our wedding kept complimenting on how beautiful and amazing the venue was. The pictures just don't do it justice, once you are actually THERE in person it just feels magical. We live nearby and I've been here many times over the last several years. If you've never been and you're over 21, like adult beverages and animals, take my advice. 1) Sign up for a Sat or Sun tour of the property AND 2) make reservations for the bar like 2 hours after your tour time (does not have to be a wine tasting - you can order by the glass) and 3) bring a picnic lunch. On the walking tour you will see nearly all the grounds, learn about the history and the animals. Tour lasts about an hour and 15 mins. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water. And - important reminder - pack a picnic to take to the bar. There are picnic tables but they only serve pretzels and chips. The whole place is lovely, animals are loved and well cared for, great people, nice selection of wines, and micro brewery beer is part of the family business. Plus they serve cocktails. read more

I recently came here with a friend after buying a groupon deal for the beer tastings..... BEST DECISION I'VE MADE! We tried four different beers and also had the pretzels and side dips to try. So good! The location is hidden pretty good so really pay attention to the map. Upon arriving we dropped the car off with Valet and walked back to the beer room. There were plenty of seating and several umbrellas to keep cool. We checked in with Erica who brought us our flight of beer and our pretzels. She then explained the beers and the dips with the pretzels (The mustard seed and chipotle were my favorite) we fi signed our pretzels and beer and walked around. The peacocks were beautiful and I fell in Love with Lily the white tiger. Yes it's sad to see a tiger in a cage and not in their natural habitat but she looked well take care of, with plenty of food and she seems to be enjoying her Popsicle! The animal keeper was also making her rounds making sure the animals were fed and cleaning up droppings. Lily was also quite entertaining with that Popsicle, and kept making funny faces! Went for the animal tour at Rancho Wildlife and had a stunning time. Great guided tour with a group of around 15 people. Every employee we interacted with was courteous and professional. The main reason we took the tour was to see Lily the white bengal tiger. We were 5 feet from her, behind 2 layers of metal fences, and it was an unforgettable experience. The entire tour was just over an hour and covered the majority of the grounds. Rancho Las Lomas is like a mini Hearst Castle right off Santiago Canyon. Check Groupon for discounted tickets. Beyond disappointed. Purchased a wine tasting for two for a Father's Day present through Groupon a couple weeks ago. Rancho Las Lomas won't honor it! They now want it to be used for a "zoo" visit. That's not what I purchased. That's not what my Father wants. He was so looking forward to this outing. I understand if a business no longer wants to offer something so stop selling it but it's bad business to not honor what was already sold. read more

This is my dream place! I could seriously live here. It's so gorgeous!! Every corner is breathtaking and stunning! The staff is so friendly. We came for a summer story time and it was really cute because they do an art craft afterwards then you go check out the animals. read more

My boyfriend and I got the wine tasting for two on Groupon. I thought it was lame that we didn't get to choose which wine we wanted. I've been to other wine tasting places and they normally let you choose so I assumed this place did the same but if you're super into wine then I'm sure you wouldn't mind! We decided just to try the beer tasting next time. And honestly, there wasn't much to look at. Yes, there were a few animals but I guess I expected more. Came by for wine tasting and it was really just okay. I regret not getting beer instead. The venue is lovely, though. There is obligatory valet, however, at $8. The animals appeared to be well taken care of. I liked walking around however don't wear heels or cheap sandals because the ground is not always level. They also sell grilled hotdogs and burgers. Next time, I think we'll bring our own picnic food and order beers. Venue is not dog friendly. read more

What can I say about Rancho Las Lomas except that it's just a beautiful and magical place and that's exactly why I chose this to be my wedding venue. I first worked with Kara who was lovely and always responded timely to my emails. Later on, Kara went on maternity leave and Julie took over my wedding. Julie was just as great as Kara! She was great with planning out the floor plans and always made great suggestions. If you want a venue where you don't really have to do anything because it's beautiful on its on, then come to Rancho Las Lomas!! read more
