We, the humans, often need more training than the dogs do. My current girl has been training with Deb since she was four months old. I am a big believer in constant training for socialization and fine tuning. Deb uses harnesses rather than choke or pinch collars. I was skeptical at first but now find I have better control with my big dogs and I know I am not hurting them. (She sells the harnesses at her cost. You can buy them online and pay more.) The people that I have met in class have often been clients for years and that really says something. There have been a few I have seen not want to do the work and then complain. If you pay a trainer with great credentials as Deb Moody has, why wouldn't you follow her advice and instruction.

When we first came to Megan, we were overwhelmed and frustrated. Padfoot pulled like a freight train on the leash and barked at absolutely everything. Walks were chaos, and quiet moments in the house were few and far between. Megan worked wonders with him. She gave us practical tools and taught us how to better understand and communicate with Padfoot. She never promised an overnight miracle (because that's not how dogs--or people--work), but what she did promise was that if we did the work, we'd see results. And she was absolutely right. Thanks to her guidance, Padfoot's leash manners have drastically improved, and we've seen a huge reduction in his barking. On top of that, he's boarded with Megan, and when he came home, he was the best behaved he's ever been. Calm, happy, focused--like he'd just come back from a doggy bootcamp/spa hybrid. One of the things we love most about Megan is how deeply she cares. She genuinely loves dogs and loves helping people build better relationships with their pets. It's obvious in the way she interacts with them, how patient and encouraging she is, and how invested she is in each dog's progress. She celebrates your wins with you, no matter how small, and makes you feel like you're not alone in the process. Now, I've seen some reviews on here claiming Megan doesn't know what she's doing. That's honestly nonsense. If someone expects their dog to magically behave without doing any of the follow-up work Megan recommends, then of course they won't see lasting results. It's not about outsourcing your dog's behavior--it's about learning to be a consistent, supportive leader for your pup, and Megan gives you the tools to do just that. TL;DR: I would not trust Camp Bow Wow with the safety of my pets…read more My parents boarded their two small dogs at Camp Bow Wow for the very first time while we attended a family event out of state. When we picked them up that evening, one dog had a large, pus-filled wound on her face that staff described only as "a scratch." Although none of us are veterinarians, it was obvious the wound was more serious than that. The next morning, our family veterinarian confirmed it was a puncture wound that had become infected, drained the pus, and explained that it would have required stitches had it been treated sooner. Instead, the dog was prescribed a week of antibiotics. Two weeks later, the wound is healing but still not fully resolved. We contacted Camp Bow Wow to find out what had happened because no one had informed us of any incident before pickup. After investigating, management told us our dog had been injured as collateral damage during a scuffle between another dog and her companion a couple of hours before checkout. They also claimed they had called my parents to discuss the incident. That is not what happened. The only voicemail my parents received stated that both dogs were doing well and asked them to call about exit baths. They returned the call on the way from the airport, reached voicemail, and received no further attempts to contact them. When we asked why veterinary care wasn't sought--or, at a minimum, why my parents weren't notified so they could decide whether their dog should be seen--we were told the injury "did not appear to be severe enough for medical attention" and had only "occurred a couple of hours prior to checkout." This explanation was difficult to reconcile with our veterinarian's findings that the wound was already infected and that too much time had passed for stitches, despite the vet examining her less than 24 hours after the incident allegedly occurred. When we raised these concerns, management stood by their account and stated that pet owners are responsible for any veterinary expenses resulting from their dog's stay. When I asked the facility manager, Sally, about their policy for notifying owners when a dog is injured, specifically by another dog, I never received a clear answer--only a repetition of their version of events. As someone who owns my own two dogs and frequently uses boarding facilities, I understand that kennel staff are not veterinarians. I don't expect them to diagnose injuries. I do expect them to promptly notify pet owners whenever an animal is injured and allow the owner--not the kennel--to decide whether veterinary care is warranted. I also expect honesty and transparency as to when and how an incident occurred, which I do not believe we received in this instance. In my opinion, Camp Bow Wow failed to meet that basic standard of care. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend boarding your pets there.

I have boarded horses for more than 30 years and think the visit /interview process is necessary for all horse owners. Every place will have pros and cons based on you and your horse's needs. I was very impressed with what I saw at Trinity. Trinity has a indoor, a very large outdoor arena, standard dressage court and a round pin. The rings are well maintained. The facility has groomed trails around the property that connect with a large network of trails. Although the indoor is not large between different schedules, different disciplines, good weather, and with the consideration of others, there is always options where to ride. I board in the barn. My horses (2 now) have nice large stalls with lengthy flat well draining run-outs. The barn has a very friendly atmosphere that really helped me in my transition to New Mexico. I met with Emily Keene, the dressage trainer and observed lessons 2 times before making my choice of Trinity. I cannot say enough good things about Emily. She is well educated in dressage and the bio-mechanics of the horse and rider. She also a great communicator. You couldn't ask for 3 better credentialed trainer/instructors (dressage, hunter/jumper, western). All the trainers are open, friendly and helpful, even if you are not with their program. Tim the resident manager was there to welcome and help settle my horses after cross country shipping. He is always willing to set aside time to talk about any problems or concerns. He has also been a big mental and physical support during a colic. The rock of the Trinity is Ismael (and his family), who see to the day to day care of the barn and property. It's a great team that works well
