Come here mostly to get my steps in at the track, play Pokémon Go, and chill to the awesome view. Now have added watching wildlife to the list. I've seen a coyote, lots of squirrels, and plenty of birds. Oh, and in spring, the cherry trees on the lower slopes throw on their gorgeous floral finery. If timed right, residents can take family photos. The park is often calm on weekdays. But it can get quite crowded when baseball or soccer leagues hold tournaments and/or the community room is rented out for a party on weekends. Parking is often impossible at these times. read more

Amazing park/community center in the Eastern side of San Ramon. Equipment is very well maintained and there are many unique play structures rarely found at other parks. There's a zip line, a large slide, a regular play area for older kids and a toddler play area and finally a splash pad for the warmer months of summer. Definitely something for all ages here. Parking is easy with plentiful parking surrounding the periphery of the park. Highly recommend for a safe and fun day out for the kiddos. P.S. Still live this park. Been coming here for 7 years. Seen the houses around grow like mushrooms but the park has remained a solid choice for my child. Enough to entertain a then toddler and now she is 9 she loves the climbing wall and still get a guilty pleasure and loads of giggles out of the wet play area. Toilers are clean and convenient. It's essentially, and mostly, a sports park. The 6 soccer fields (4 on natural grass, 2 on artificial) and one baseball park take up 90% of the park. There's also a couple of tennis courts, and a very fun splash pad for kids (and kid-like adults) as well as playground on sand. An entrance to the Quail run trail is here, too. Very cool. In San Ramon, we're quite spoiled -- there's a lot of parks with Central Park being the premiere of 'em all. read more

We are always researching new places to take our now 11-month old son on weekends. My wife found Rancho San Ramon Community Park. Despite living in the area for some 7 years, I've never heard of the place! The park is nestled among the densely-packed Gale Ranch housing development, where prices are easily over a million. Parking is plentiful here, and there seems to be two separate lots off Dougherty Rd. The lower one is closer to the playground while the upper one seems closer to the soccer fields. The playground here is awesome - lots of places to crawl, climb, swing, spin, and splash to your heart's content. My son seemed to enjoy the swings for the first time. They were in good condition and durable, with those bucket-style seats to accommodate the younger ages. For older kids and adults, they have a large upper field with artificial turf and a lower soccer field with grass. I saw a game in progress and everyone (players and fans) were in masks. The upper field can be used for lacrosse, football, baseball, etc. They also have several tennis courts too. A small covered picnic area is available by reservation, although I did not see BBQ grills anywhere. They have a large restroom complex conveniently located next to the playground and lower parking lot. Definitely a well-maintained park that will keep the little ones happy and help us adults destress a bit with sunshine and fresh air. The natural surroundings with green rolling hills helps too. read more

It's a very nice place for a bbq or a picnic and it has plenty of shade during the hot weather

It is so close to home and we don't go there as much as we should and could. I suggested that some friends meet up with us at the splash pad during Spring break. We stayed for 3.5 hours. It was hot; but, since I got there around noon, I could set up our blankets and picnic in some shade. Most of the people are pretty chill and respectful and my girls and I knew a few others there. As the afternoon went on, it got very hot and a lot more crowded and a few people were loud/obnoxious and made it not fun. A much older couple kept yelling at their grandkids to punch and kick the water coming out of the fountains. They were wildly swinging and kicking all over the place. The older obese grouchy lady yelled at my oldest. I wish I saw it; but, I was packing up and in that 2 minutes my daughter was very shaken and upset. I looked at the older lady as my daughter was explaining to me what happened and she got up and went the other way. We waited a few minutes and she never came back. By that time, it definitely was our cue to go. Our children went back and forth to the playground and splash pad. If you go, go early before it gets very crowded. read more

This place is a recent addition to the San Ramon landscape and is legit. It's huge and has something for everyone. Soccer field, tennis courts, a long walking/running path, nice views of the valley, and a giant playground including a zip line. Great park for the kids to run around. One complaint I have about this park, is I wish it has more shading for the kids. Given that it's up in the hills and the heat comes down directly on them. I found this place on yelp and decided to stop by. There are soccer fields in the front and the park is all the way in the back. There is a plenty of parking. There are three play grounds and a big splash pad. The splash pad opens at 11 sharp and it gets full. The bathrooms are cleans. There's not a lot of shade but you can bring your own. There's also benches where you can reserve a party. Overall pretty cool park. I feel it's more for younger kids. read more

I found this place while looking for a park for a 2.5 year old so his mom & I can catch up and meet halfway-ish. This is like a sports complex for the traveling soccer teams also known as the paid football clubs. On a Saturday morning, prepare to have to look for parking due to several games going on simultaneously and families everywhere in those camping chairs. There is also a community center to rent out for parties so later in the afternoon, you'll see baby shower guests. The restrooms are clean despite the heavy use and in a separate building. The mini water park didn't seem to turn on until 11:30 on a Saturday. There is a small playground for the toddlers and a sand area for the kids who bring their own sand toys. It was entertaining and adorable to see kids line up to use the zip-line which I would have used was it not so packed. This is not a place to jog or ride bikes. However, you can walk around the maze of the complex to get some steps in. My only critique is that it needs more shade. Although there are trees and benches in shade, San Ramon can get quite hot and this park is literally at the end of the city limits it seems. read more

Areas for the smaller kids to play, and they also have a splash zone (which opened recently). The park also has benches for the family to have a meal. Please protect your children and be a PARENT!!! There are lots of sickos who pray on young children. People have cameras and can take pictures of them. If you have kids ages 10 and under, you should check out Rancho San Ramon Community Park. If you don't have any kids, you should still come to this park (unless you're a pedophile, then I politely ask you to stay home and/or move). There is a zip line! And a little climbing wall! And water spraying from multiple sources! The city of San Ramon is growing exponentially and becoming quite BANANAS. Clearly a lot of money was poured into this park, as there are also baseball and soccer fields. And, wait for it...bathrooms! And scenic views! Personally, I came here on an 80-degree day, laid out my blanket and "watched" my kids play. I thoroughly enjoyed all the uniquely named kids (I'm looking at you, Gunnar) and their impressive vocabularies. And thankfully we escaped before someone found out that I brought non-organic granola bars. Phew! read more

Great community park! It was very busy on an 80 degree day in January but didn't feel crowded. There are lots of play areas. I appreciated that moms were warning other moms about some of the play features that weren't suitable for younger kids or could pinch fingers, like the roller slide. It gives it a community feel. My 18 month old enjoyed all the slides, stairs, smaller climbing structures, open paths. The only cons are not much shade and the structures are going to get super hot in the hot sun. I'm glad we are able to enjoy this awesome park! I hear the competition to book the community center and picnic area is going to be fierce. Reservations start on Monday. Go Tiger moms!!!! read more

This is one of the best, if not the best community park I've ever been. It has a great soccer field, community center for special events, and a great big children's playground. I love the wide range of amenities at the playground. Aside from the usual swings and slides, it has a zip line, twisted bars, and other installations that encourages the kids to explore and enjoy. It also has picnic areas, where I've seen families hold picnics and birthday parties. This park gets full during weekends. But it's big enough to accommodate a big crowd. read more

This is another great example of another fantastic east bay park - it's perfect for kids of all ages! The water play area was off today, but it will be great on hot days. I was happy to see some outdoor showers where you can rinse off your kids afterwards. The bathroom facility was clean and a good size for a park. I like how they made several large play areas . My 4 year old explored each one - the little kid section, the bigger kid section and the rock/climbing area. My son loved the bigger kid section the most, and the zip line is a nice "different" touch for a park in this area. I appreciate all the numerous benches where parents can sit, and the theater seating area is nice too. The one problem is the lack of shade since this is such a young park. There are trees planted that will give future shade, but for the next decade or two, shade will be minimal. Some trees I would say are barely past the twig stage - they are all very young so it will take some time before it offers the shade that trees offer at Osage Park. There was more to the park, but I'll have to get to those parts later! read more

Love this park and it's super close to my home, which is always a plus! Great for humans and for dogs. Please note, it's not a dog park and nor do they have a gated area for dogs, but it's very pet friendly. Lots of space to walk around, with beautiful views, and tons of grass. Everyone I have interacted with has also been friendly. In the evenings you'll often see kids practicing with their school teams or individually. They have two soccer fields; one with grass and one with turf. Two tennis courts, a baseball field, a rec room for parties and events, large parking lot, picnic area, benches in all fields, and a large playground for children with a splash pad. If pets are not allowed, it clearly states it, which I appreciate. It's also very clean; lots of garbage cans and recycling bins and bathrooms near each field - haven't use the bathrooms so I'm not sure how clean they are. Definitely my go to park with or without my dog. The only downside I see is that it lacks shade, so in the summer make sure to use sunscreen. read more

This is such a stellar park, especially with kids! It must be pretty new, as the equipment and play structures are unique, as well as in excellent condition. My 2yo had a blast! The best parts? 1) The ZIPLINE! I'm pretty sure it states 5 and older; but hey, you have to let kids try some things. The preschoolers totally had it down! My kid loved it. 2) The splash pad! Despite it being a windy, chilly day; my son wanted in the water! I can see it being the perfect adventure on a hot day. 3) The modern merry-go-round is safe AND fun. No way to fall off while sitting down. Standing may be another story. 4) The fun climbing structures that my son called "spider's webs." 5) The piano tiles that one can jump on and make music with! Bathrooms are located outside, as well as inside the community center. Best to go inside, as the ones outdoors had zero soap and weren't very clean. read more

Now this park I love. I mean wow! They have so much to do here. Zip lining? What! I couldn't believe it. They have the spinning tea cups, the kids area has so many different slides. So many different attractions. The park Is huge and nestled in off the streets. Passed by 100's of times and would've never knew it existed. The water area for the kids is amazing. It's amazing that this park is opened to the public without any fees or admission! This park is more for younger children. It has a large playground, a zip line and a splash pad! It also contains a baseball field, soccer fields, tennis courts, community center and picnic tables. During the weekends, the picnic tables are reserved only. You have to reserve them through their websites and you'll need to reserve them months in advance! They are for San Ramon residents only and you'll need to pay a fee to make a reservation. My recommendation is that if you want to have a picnic, you can always go to another nearby park where you do not need to pay nor make any reservation. You can either have a picnic over there, before or after you attend Rancho Community Park. This park can get hot during the summer and there are very limited parts where you can find shade. It can also get crowded here during the weekends, but there's plenty of parking and room in the park to still enjoy yourself with your children. read more
