Fast and Painless. They didn't hesitate to smog test even though my Evap was showing incomplete (No engine light on nor any other codes because just had repairs done) The other repair place I just had service my car (for engine light issues) told me they could not smog until the Evap code cleared, even though other codes were ok, but I tried driving two weeks no luck on clearing. Called Rancho Smog and they said no worries, they tested and passed that same day. Very polite. read more

Very Easy! I just wanted a Smog Check, nothing fancy. I followed recommendations I had seen online, and called them first to see if they were busy. I think Ramsis answered the phone (weekday prior to 10:00 is usually a good time). He said to come in, there was only one person currently there, I would be next. So I went in. Easy Peasy. Ramsis saw that I am disabled when I drove up. He came out to the car as I was getting out of it. He offered to let me stay in the car as the procedure was done. I said I would rather just go in the office and wait. So I gave him the key, and went inside. He was incredibly polite and considerate. After filling out the usual kind of paperwork, I barely had time to play a game on my phone! It was done, and my car was waiting outside for me. All totaled, 15 minutes! (And most of that was just because I move real slowly.) Very satisfied! Highest possible recommendation! read more

Been doing business with them for over 20 years. At 2 locations. Went in this morning and made an appointment to return at 3:00 as they were busy. Arrived at 3:00 and the owner was not there to do the test. So I've wasted my entire day because of this jerk. The people there tried to make up lame excuses. It used to be a good place. Interestingly the last time I was there the owner kept telling me I was next any minute. Then it took over 2 hours. Should have known then to not go back. No consideration for the customer. I also observed those who were working doing a smog test on another car. They are clearly performing tests using the owners license. And that is illegal. I would never go back and don't think they are to be trusted at this point. Reply to the lies in Rancho Smog's reply: It's too bad you have to come on here and further the damage you have done by lying. You weren't there so you don't what was said. I spent years dealing with customers. They come first. Not your own issues. You don't make appointments and not keep them. You readily admit you didn't show up for the appointment. And you think your excuse is more important than a customer's needs. I have dental implants. My Doctor never called me in for an emergency. Flat and simple I don't buy your excuse. My vehicle is still not smogged. You wasted my day and I still have to find someone else to smog it. And you think I should excuse your lie. Then to top it off you claim that I was next. You weren't there so you don't know. That is not what happened. First they put my vehicle on the machine. Then another person came and they told me that they had tried to call you and you did not answer. He then stated he did not know how to do an older car on your machine. It was a stick and old were both issues he added. That is also a lie. You've done that vehicle on your machine several times before. They then removed my car from the machine and brought in another. It was at that point I demanded my keys and left. No offer was ever made to do my vehicle next. Your other negative reviews show some similar conduct on your part. A real solution would have been to set up a new time and take care of the issue at my convenience and your expense. But no all you want to do is dispute the facts on something that you weren't even present for. Bottom line is I'm stuck still having to deal with this thanks to you. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP!!! read more

I went to renew my tags at the rancho dmv, they said i needed a smog. The lady said theres a place down the street. I tried to call, but i got a dial tone. So i called the tire shop in the dmv parking lot, they also told me to go down the street. I'm very glad i did! Ramsis was very kind, and my smog was very fast! I let him know i'm having issues with my ignition lock, (i have to flick my key to turn the ignition off) he offered to use silicone WD40 & it FIXED IT!!!! I happened to be passing by this place on my way from the DMV trying to figure out where to go get my old car a smog check so we could get it registered, and I decided to turn around and stop in. I was greeted by the owner (who is a really nice guy) and was able to get the car in and checked out on short notice even though we had no appointment and had to tow the car in, which was super convenient. I think it's worth nothing that while I was standing outside, an older gentleman who was a return customer was singing the praises of the shop owner who he said was honest, did reliable work and had the best most reasonable prices in the area. He said he'd been to many different smog shops in the area and this was by far the best. After my experience, I can vouch for the speed and reliability and the reasonable pricing. The smog check report was straightforward and I would absolutely return for future smog check needs. read more

Went here for a smog requested for my yearly registration. One stop shop! I think I spent a total of 20 minutes there altogether! The man who runs it is so nice, and polite! My smog passed and I walked out of there with my new tags! There is a small fee to get the registration done there as well but I'd definitely rather pay the fee and just get it done without having to go to the dmv!!! Great service! read more

I rarely leave Yelp reviews and I dislike writing negative reviews but I feel that I need to warn prospective Rancho Smog customers. I have been taking my cars to Ramsis for smog checks for many years and he has always been courteous and done a great job. I recently took my older Ford truck in for a smog check and it failed as a Gross Polluter. i told Ramsis I would bring it back in a few weeks for repairs. I dropped it off on a Tuesday morning and he told me it would take a few days. I approved a $85 Diagnostic Charge only. I called Friday and Ramsis told me he needed more time and he had installed parts and performed repairs which I had not approved. I called on Saturday and he needed more time. Monday, same story, he needs more time. Long story short, if you need a smog check WITHOUT REPAIRS, great, Ramsis is your guy. If you need repairs, go elsewhere, he is not doing comprehensive diagnostics, he will just throw parts at your vehicle hoping to get it running. After a brief argument Ramsis agreed to charge me nothing but i still recommend going elsewhere for smog repairs. read more

I'm updating my review and changing my rating based on my recent experience. Went back to Rancho for my 2-year smog check. Ramsis remembered that I had been to his shop before. He was very friendly and accomodating. There was only one person ahead of me, so they took my car to the back and started the check after about 5 minutes. Here is where I need to adjust my review. When he returned, he said my car wasn't ready for a pass / fail grade. I had recently had some work done, so I guess not enough miles were logged after the codes were cleared. It was Saturday, and he told me to bring it back Monday morning. He charged me $25 for the incomplete test. He said he would charge me the regular rate if it was ready to test on Monday. He said that he would make sure there were enough miles on the car before he tested Monday. I decided I would take the loss on the $25 and go somewhere else Monday. I have a couple of issues with his way of handling this. First, if he was going to check if it had enough miles on Monday, why doesn't he run that check in the first place before charging me $25. Second, I would have to pay the full price for a second check on Monday whether it passed or failed. There is no free retest if you fail. Other places offer a free retest if your vehicle fails. I went to a place that was slightly cheaper. There was no wait. And they offered a free retest if the vehicle failed. My vehicle passed with no issues at the other smog check business. read more

It started with a simple smog service. Turned into a scam and I was ripped off for $500.00 My husband took my car to get smogged. R. Smog, Ramis, said I needed new spark plugs to pass. So my husband said he would like to stick to the dealer recommended s. plugs and my husband took Ramis brand new spark plugs my husband got from the dealer for exacts on my car. He left the car for me to go back and pick up. My husband told me that Ramis wanted to be paid cash only, now I see why. So I picked my car up, paid $500.00 cash. Note, my car ran fine before I left it in his shop, but after his work, my car goes down the road sputtering and misfiring. So, optimistically take my car back to R.Smog and explain this problem to Ramis hoping he will just correct the mistake because now it barely runs, dies at every stop sign. Ramis response was. "give me a few minutes" I politely wait for some time, while Ramis goes back to smogging cars, after a time, I politely say to him, that I do not expect him to correct the problem today, but because my car won't run, I would like to leave it for him to get to as soon as he saw fit. Ramis says no, give him a few minutes, so I did. Trust me the story gets more crazy. While waiting some more, a young man came in after me and we chatted, I asked him, "are you getting a smog today"? The young man said no, "he was there for a job". Meanwhile the hours are ticking away and Ramis has me waiting, so I interrupt Ramis again, asking if he would please talk to me about my car, that I had gotten someone to drive me home and needed to make a plan with him. Ramis hands a tester to the young man who was there for a job, Ramis tells him to take the tester and test my car, at this point, I laughed and followed the young man to my car, and said, "well I guess this is a working interview huh"? The young man is not knowledgable with the tester and has to tell me and Ramis that he can't use the tester, Ramis sends him into his back shop to try the young man's hand at an oil change. I am still patient and somewhat amused watching this going on because now Ramis has me waiting again, completely ignoring me while he is doing smogs. I asked the young lady behind the closed glass desk if she could please pull up my previous and first visit to the shop. She said, "oh I don't work here". I eariler had told Ramis that I had left my cash receipt at home. Ramis tells me he doesn't keep records. This went on for an hour. I interupted him again. I explained that I only wanted him to take my car in and start looking into what went wrong in his original repair. His continued response was, "give me a few minutes". Ramis obviously had already identified my car, and knew exactly what he had done wrong, and hoped that I would tire and just go away. He was right, "I did go away". I drove my car that died at every stop around the corner to a reputable auto repair shop. The new and honorable mechanic fixed my car in one day; it runs like a brand-new car! but of course I had to pay for spark plug repair all over again, but glad to have good reliable service. I am not a mechanic, So I had asked the new shop to please save my old spark plugs for me because my husband had previously said, "I don't think Rancho Smog really changed your spark plugs". My dear husband died of cancer in the mist of this, by my husband was correct, the new shop brought out to me the spark plugs that came out of my vehicle. Only two of the eight were changed, that's why it was misfiring. I asked how he knew this, and the mechanic explained how and why the other six plugs were different. The mechanic also told me how long new spark plugs should typically last, 30 to 100 k, all this was proof that he only changed the two, got the smog to pass and ripped me off for the spark plug repair. He knew exactly what he was doing, and on top of it kept my other new plugs! Its also interesting that he has one pay cash. Today, I went back with the my orignal old spark plugs and the two new ones he had replaced. I wanted to give him the chance to have some intergrity, to make this right. Ramis argued, played a language barrier card, talked in circles, and I am not up for disrespectful behavior, so I ended the conversation. RANCHO SMOG MAY HAVE GREAT REVIEWS FOR A SIMPLE SMOG CHECK, BUT DON'T EVER TURN HIM LOSE ON YOUR CAR FOR AUTO REPAIR. read more

Terrible experience, terrible furniture, Terrible customer service To top it off while my car was just about to be wrapped up in the back where I can see from their "lobby" which is their office, which is their lunch room/waiting room. One of their techs, who was working on a vehicle parked right in front of me in their 2 car garage of a space. tech Starts stepping on the gas in the vehicle, reving the gas peddle on and on and on and on Making All this smoke No lie, gassed out the Whole garage, smoke every where. And of course their front door to the building is wide opened, so all that smoke gasses out their customers that were sitting and waiting for their cars. One old Filipino man 60+ yrs old had a cane and wasn't in the best of health. Knee problems, he stumbled out coughing up ‍ hardly any walk space, it's terrible. Guess who's car was stuck behind his‍ Getting smoked out with all this smoke Dosed my whole interior everything Then he drives my car around with all the windows down.
