I decided to stop by in person for a smog check and was simply told, "No." I ended up going down the street to MENA SMOG instead. I guess AA Smog doesn't do smog checks anymore. I've been coming here for a while and he always did an awesome job with the repairs and explanation of repairs. I have since returned, met his wife Janet and co-partner, Nick. They both carry the same customer service and work ethic as Steve did. I have come here for years. I was so saddened to hear the previous owner died. I never needed an appointment for a smog check here and would be out quickly. I was told that maybe and hopefully in the near future, smog checks would become available again here. As far as other services, I am not too familiar. I had a water pump replacement and cooler replacement service done on a 2010 Prius. Water pump part $350 Coolant replacement service $60 Labor 1.75 hours $262.50 Taxes $31.78 TOTAL: $704.28 I had my car towed in and that same day had it back by the end of the business day. They ordered the part, received it, and then did the work. Very professional all around. Had gone to Steve for years so this was my first time under new co-ownership. I had been taking our family cars to AA Smog for years. Steven and his team had taken care of about 10-12 cars in my immediate family, plus numerous others that I had referred for friends. Since his unfortunate passing, I continued to take our cars to Nick who took over. His customer service was great, however the quality of mechanics has dropped off dramatically since most of Steven's guys left. Took my car in for a "simple transmission flush" and drove it out with at 22 warning codes being triggered and no one knowing how to fix it. I drove it in to keep it in maintained in good working condition and had to drive it to another mechanic who says it might be a $1600-2000 fix. I called AA Smog to ask what they did to it and they say it wasn't their fault. I drove it in running great and drove it out with a rough idle, stalling and 20+ warning codes. I have no more trust in the new mechanics and will not be returning. read more

Prior to moving out of state, I lived in Rancho and Steven was my go to mechanic. Always trustworthy and reliable. He would even let my wife and I know if the repair was something we could manage ourselves. I just purchased a new (to me) used Toyota Highlander. Since I planned to drive it 1300 miles cross-country to get home, I stopped by Steven's to get a post-purchase inspection. I met Nick and he broke the horrible news to me, Steven had passed away two months ago. I was floored. I had been going to Steven since he had a tiny smog check shop. He was such a good man, stellar character and above all kind and honest. I can see why he had received all of the horrible reviews in the past year. He was dying and in excruciating pain. I use to love this place before they moved. Now it's impossible to find a place to park because all the seemingly disabled vehicles in the lot. I went last year to get my car smogged but found it impossible to park anywhere to go inside. Ended up going somewhere else to get smogged. And this year is no different. Had to go somewhere else. Unfortunately, I don't know much about cars. I read some positive reviews about this place so I requested a quote on Yelp for brake pad replacement services. Steven was a direct communicator and provided me with numbers and a time to come in (the process probably would have been faster over the phone but I'm bad at phone calls). Other companies in the area did not reply, told me to look at their website, or were too far for me. Steven is great. He spent a short time looking at my brake pads and attempted to educate me on what I should look for. The conversation went over my head but I appreciated the effort. He offered to loan me a car when his vendor ended up delivering the wrong size brake pads and I had to leave my car there overnight. I thought the value for my front brake replacement was fair (Steven didn't try to pretend like my rear brakes needed replacing too) and appreciated him accommodating my needs with his busy schedule. I would definitely come here again for car maintenance and smog checks! read more

Found AA Smog check center on Yelp and the 5 stars mos def grabbed my attention. Yelp land didn't lie, exaggerate or disappoint. I called first and the phone only rang once and was picked up (a major plus as some businesses do not pick up) the rep stated the smog check could be done immediately so I rolled up and sure enough I was asked for my smog papers and keys :) (down side oil change is backed up 5 business days) Adam the team member was extremely professional and straight to the point with all the right information. No complaints not even on the waiting room as the customer service and service overrides any complaints on a small waiting room. I went there to do an engine light check. The two techs were trying to figure something out on another car while smoking and trying to fit some parts onto the car. Then they saw me parked at the wrong spot. He directed me to the front area to go check-in at the reception. I went in and the lobby area was dusty, messy and had not much room to stand - it was disorganized. I gave the benefit of the doubt thinking the office is renovating. I told the gentleman what I am there for. He asked me to wait and just kept typing away and doing his business. I kept waiting patiently but he kept going about his business. I went to this business for a Star Smog and found it to be amazing. I went in about 12:30pm on a Friday. Steven was finishing up with a prior customer and then welcomed me in for my turn.
