Rancho Viejo is a classic Mexican restaurant typical of Oklahoma. It's about average in comparison to all the other options in Grove. I've had it twice and enjoyed it both times. Service is always quick and the food is always hot and fresh. It's in a little strip mall kind of place, but very clean and nice inside. Definitely ask for the spicy salsa if you like some heat! And as is tradition, the California burrito is the size of your head. I always take leftovers. read more

I think there are a total of 3 Mexican joints here. Love love love the decor. I want to take a chair and stuff it into my purse, totally cute and handpainted Mexican art with vibrant colors. Experiencing Grove as a city for several weeks (I'm new here), it's a real laid back place. If you expect anything quick or now now now, you'll be disappointed. Come into this unexpected restaurants and relax with the lake folk. The house margarita is good and refreshing. Love me chips and salsa and this place has the best in town. Tried the chili relleno with ground beef. I cant say it was my favorite. The beef although seasoned well has a texture like they spun it through a food processor for a minute. The refried beans didnt lack any flavor. What surprised me was the white finely shredded cheese on the tacos and guacamole salad. The cheese was way too salty for my palate. The menu is extensive and appreciated the al a Carte menu that lists at least 10 separate items. The extras on the menu seemed like a letdown because for instance you meal didnt have lettuce or onions, you'd have to pay .99 per each to have it added. read more

From the moment I sat down and started looking at the menu, I had this eerie feeling that I had seen it before, though I was 100% sure I'd never been to this place before. Then, come to find out later that this place has another location (with a different name) in another small town nearby that I HAVE been to before. I was pretty proud of myself for recognizing the menu!!! The chips weren't my favorite because they were the thicker, more yellow kind, and I normally like the super thin chips. Didn't stop me from eating lots of them still, haha. I did like the salsa though, especially the spicy salsa that I asked for! The normal salsa was chunky and very tomatoey, and the spicier salsa was smooth and had a great flavor to it... kind of a bitter kind of spicy, which seems to be common. I ordered the Rancho Viejo burrito. This is one of those places where the burrito is kind of like a mix between a rolled up taco, a burrito, and an enchilada. This being said, the burrito wasn't as big as I expected or like I'm used to at some other places, but it was still a decent size. I got mine with chicken and thought it was nice. I also kept mine with red sauce (instead of upgrading to cheese sauce for just 50 cents), and I'm glad I did because it was kind of unique! It reminded me a lot of the flavor of spaghettio sauce, but obviously in a more homemade kind of way. At first bite it was different and definitely unexpected, but I got used to it after that and it grew on me. I was surprised at how much rice and beans I got with my meal. So, whatever room the burrito didn't fill up on the plate, the amount of rice and beans made up for it. I especially liked the refried beans. I thought they tasted good and had a nice amount of cheese on top. The service was kind and the restaurant was clean and not too loud. I'd definitely go back. read more

This place used to be AMAZING!!! Something has happened recently. My husband and I have been huge fans since the restaurant occupied a strip mall spot next to Walmart. Now??? Average Mexican restaurant. The chips were fresh and warm. The hot salsa was the better of the two they offer. The two meals we had were the Pollo Durango and the Carne Asada. My wife started on the Pollo Durango and after a few bites said, there was no cheese sauce on the Pollo Durango (a mixture of grilled chicken and mushrooms that is supposed to be covered with cheese sauce.) We flagged down the waiter and showed him the problem. His comment was the cheese sauce was on the bottom. Sorry Fernando, but there was no freakin' cheese sauce on the plate anywhere! This was a screw up in the kitchen. I could see this was not going to be resolved and it wasn't worth the hassle. The meal still tasted good. With the carne asada I had a chili toreado. The carne asada was the typical two thin slices of beef. It had a good taste and not tough. Both meals came with large servings of rice and beans. The food was delivered to the table within minutes of us placing our order. It is a large, and tightly packed with tables and booths restaurant. The dining area appears to be clean; however, the Yelp health score rating for the kitchen is not exactly stellar. Nothing really stood out here and the kitchen's screw up disappointed us. read more

Upon asking around, this restaurant is well known by the locals. We were in town for a wedding and accidentally found it after looking for another place that was unexpectedly closed. A win for us! First off, the frozen margaritas were some of the best that I've had! A perfect blend of sweet and sour and just right on the alcohol. The chips and salsa were delicious as well. We are vegan so ordered the veggie fajitas. We were delighted with the ample selection of veggies: broccoli, zucchini, bell peppers, onions, potatoes, carrots, and cauliflower. The veggies were hot but not over cooked. They gave us a huge amount, way more than we could eat. It was served with retried beans (probably not vegan) and Mexican rice. The rice was light and delicious. We also ordered a side of guacamole, which was really good. All in all, we had a delicious dinner at this restaurant and I highly recommend. Okay, we were in from out of town and passing through and decided to give this place a try. We stumbled on to a great mom and pop Tex-Mex restaurant. Fresh made salsa comes out in a small carafe, and it is amazingly good. If you like hot sauce then they make that fresh too. And it is really hot. The dipping cheese queso was surprisingly good as well, using a white cheese. Main course dishes were also all very tasty with some unique flavors that made them above and beyond your typical pop-up place. Overall, if you're looking for Tex-Mex then you shouldn't be disappointed. This is a great hole-in-the-wall find. read more

I came here with my family on a trip to grand lake. To say i was blow away is an understatement. The food came out piping hot and was absolutely delicious. I would compare it to some of the nicest restaurants in all of tulsa, and the prices were outstanding. Our service was incredible as well. The chips and salsa were good, but that is about it. I was not impressed with what I ordered (a burrito) and not sure my kids loved what they got either. My husband used to live in Grove, on Grand Lake and loved this restaurant, so he took me there yesterday....we are kind of hard to please when it comes to Mexican food, but I jokingly told him this morning I wish they could move it to the Tulsa area where we live now.
