I have been going to Dr Gordon for 20 years plus. He was my first adult dentist. I have continued to go to him all these years because he is trustworthy, has a comfortable "chairside" manner and doesn't push the up sell like I hear so many dentists do. (He offers me options when I ask.). His right hand person and office Manager Mercedes is great. She is pleasant, efficient and helpful. The billing is straightforward and over all these years I have changed employers only 3 times but it has always been very straightforward. It is a small office just Dr Gordon and Mercedes. This is a benefit because you get in and out. I never wait and I appreciate my time being respected. He has good coverage for when he is out so don't worry about that. Like many, I am not excited to go to the dentist. Never have been but I appreciate Dr Gordon being efficient, kind and honest. I have recommended him to many friends and colleagues. read more

ALRIGHT!!! After being in the LA area for 6 years, I finally found a great dentist. I've tried several of them out, but none tend to stick because they were awful, tried to rip me off, messed up big time, cut my lip, long waits, and the list goes on, BUT Dr. Gordon is amazing. Here's why: -Despite a small office, he and Mercedes are very friendly and professional -They respond to your E-mails and are quick to get back to you -As long as you show up on time or a bit early to your appointment, there's barely any wait time -Hours past 5PM, meaning I can go right after work -He's a pro with the lasers, so you don't even need to get a shot when getting fillings and such done. It's painless, but you might feel a bit coldness if you have teeth sensitivity, but Dr. Gordon can always adjust it to your needs. The laser makes a pop pop pop noise when it's working, but it wasn't frightening at all. -He doesn't rip you off at all, unlike most other dentists I've been to. Yes, I can compare because I've had same procedures done and the prices do vary with quality feeling very similar. -Great conversationalist. I started fearing going to the dentist after seeing this dentist back in Glendale because he cut my lip (it healed, thank goodness), kept dropping stuff, put too much weight on me, had me take more time off work to keep going back, had me pay the amount before insurance kicks in and then took soooooo long and many calls and an almost threat to file a small claims before I got my overpayment check, horrible communication, etc etc., but Dr. Gordon erased those fears from me. I'm not native to the Los Angeles area and had been seeing my previous dentist back home since I was in grade school, so choosing a dentist that made me feel as comfortable and taken care of felt seemingly impossible. My first visit with Dr. Gordon was just the experience I was looking for. He and his office manager, Mercedes, were kind, friendly and were very attentive to my care and I left feeling heard and all of my needs were met. Also, his office is very clean, efficiently managed, and I'm seen at my appointment time or sooner if I'm in early; these details matter very much to me. Do not come to this dentist!! I repeat, do not come to see Dr. Gordon. He and his team are very unprofessional. I went in for my scheduled appointment, which I scheduled with his receptionist, Mercedes, and when I arrived they said they have no idea who I was. When I tried to schedule a different appointment, the receptionist mentioned that I should try and see another dentist and that she will not schedule me for an appointment. I WAS a new patient of Dr. Gordon. Unfortunately, the other day, to my dismay and disappointment, I received an unexpected bill from his office. I have dental coverage and this was just a regular teeth cleaning. I was not told that they were going to bill me for an initial consultation. After contacting my insurance company this morning, the rep said they should have communicated with me before going forward. She said they know what my plan is and what is covered but they went ahead without informing me of this extra charge and then billed me later. He will not see me again. read more

How many people have had nightmares about having had to go to the dentist? I know that I have. The picture of Steve Martin in Little Shop of Horrors, the kinds of guys who get pleasure out of inflicting pain... you know the type. I've been to my fair share of dentists over the years, and I've. Felt. Pain. Lots of it. Lots and lots of pain. Now, I wouldn't describe myself as a masochist, which is why I went to see Randy. When I was in high school (way back when... I won't disclose how many years have passed), I was playing lacrosse and took a cheap shot to the face (yep, you wear a helmet in lacrosse, so it was a VERY dirty shot), and one of my front teeth chipped in half. Even though it was after school (and after normal business hours), Randy reopened his office for me and performed the cap procedure. Oh yeah, and at the time I had never met him... it was a referral job because it was after-hours, even though at the time I had another dentist. Ever since that fateful day, I have been a loyal client, and I have even referred a bunch of my friends and coworkers to him. No one has ever been disappointed. I've always had good dental insurance, so I can't speak to his prices because I've never seen a bill, but I have never (not ONCE!) felt any pain in his chair. And I've definitely had my fair share of cavities over the years. He's very friendly (feel free to chat, he's very personable!), and his assistant Mercedes is fantastic and always willing to do her best to accommodate your schedule. 5 stars. To make a very long story short, I was persuaded by the exemplary reviews on here to see Dr. Gordon. I must say, he does seem like a very pleasant person, professional, and does great work. The problem arose when I was advised that I had more cavities this time around than I've had cumulative in my entire life. I; regretfully, made the quick snap decision to have them all filled. 6 months later, I went back to visit my hometown and while there, went and visited my lifelong dentist. I told him I was suspect about the amount of cavities I was treated for and he agreed that they were likely very superficial cavities and that some dentists are very "aggressive" with treatment in order to maximize profits. While I can never truly know about my cavities, I do know I was out a lot of money out of pocket. In his defense, he did seem like a competent dentist that may see some potential for decay and simply treat. My advise for all of you is to ensure you get a second opinion if indeed you are told you have numerous cavities. It could be the truth, but like anything else, caveat emptor, you're buying a service and it's ultimately on you to determine if what is recommended is truly needed. Good luck! read more

I've been going to Dr. Gordon on and off for 10 years. I was first recommended to his office by 1-800-Dentist (yes, apparently that commercial spoke the truth when it referred me to a great dentist!). Now, why "on and off" you may ask? Is it because I don't take care of my teeth? Nope, that's not it. It's because I moved away from the Westside many years ago and driving over there can be a nightmare from Pasadena. But, I do it for fact that I have not found an equivalent dentist of quality near me (who also takes my insurance). Oh, I have tried to stray from Dr. Gordon, but I cannot. Like the reviewers before me have mentioned, Dr. Gordon and his assistant Mercedes are friendly, helpful, and great at their jobs. Dr. Gordon is really nice, very gentle, and totally nonjudgmental. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes after sitting in the chair for his arrival. Often times, I've arrived early and he'll just begin the appointment if he's free. The chair is super comfortable and you can often half pass out from your day as Dr. Gordon works his dental magic. Mercedes at the front desk is really nice and professional as well. I'll get a call and text to remind me prior to my appointment. Oh, he has a great selection of magazines in the waiting room in the rare instance you do have to wait. This should probably not factor into your choice of dentist, but a chance to catch up on nonsensical celebrity happenings included in your dental hygiene! Dr. Gordon's the best! read more

After mercilessly ripping on the 1-800-DENTIST commercials time and time again, I found myself in a bit of a tooth pickle and finally caved. They referred me to Dr. Gordon, and I'm so glad they did. Dr. Gordon and his staff are friendly, caring, and honest. I don't think I've ever waited more than 5 minutes, they charge extremely fair prices, and they use the best technology. I have sent no fewer than 3 people his way, and they've all said the same thing. Recently, I recommended that a friend who thought he had a cavity go to Dr. Gordon. Not only did Dr. Gordon tell him he didn't have one, he also didn't charge him for the visit since there were no other services needed. Such a nice guy! read more

It's my first time feeling the need to review a doctor's office but Dr. Gordon deserves a good word. Finding a dentist for the first time in LA can be daunting and for me it just came down to making an appointment at the first office that where an actual person answered the phone. Well done for me, Dr. Gordon's office is efficient, has great technology, and doesn't overbill. Just the contrary, they had billed me an average amount that they suspected wouldn't have been covered by insurance. When it turned out that the insurance covered more then they suspected they would, I was sent a check for $13 for the difference. If I still lived in LA I'd be a loyal regular. I also didn't feel any pain at all, and I didn't even need to go to a self professed "no-pain" dental clinic that advertises on bus stop benches. read more

When I moved to L.A., I had one rather odd criterion for a dentist--I wanted to find someone who did NOT advertise tooth-whitening services. In other words, I wanted someone who was laser-focused on dentistry, not cosmetics. And in my neighborhood, there was only one of those: Dr. Gordon. Don't get me wrong--he does the whitening, sure. But he is, first and foremost, an old-school dentist who does everything himself and does it all incredibly well. Yet he is also up on all the modern techniques--when he got his new laser drilling gizmo, I refused to believe that I wouldn't need the novocaine. But I didn't, and let me tell you, if you've never had a filling removed by laser, please go and do that at your next opportunity. I'm a great big dental coward and this machine is just plain awesome. His prices are fair, his schedule is flexible and includes some after-work slots, he's an incredibly nice guy, his skills are top-notch, and his equipment is terrific. Wow. I would never imagine myself saying this but, I love the dentist! In particular, Dr. Gordon. I've had really bad experiences with previous dentists including one that put fillings in places that didn't need them at the time. Anyways, Dr. Gordon is super non-judgmental. It had been five years since I've been to the dentist until I went to Dr. Gordon. Unlike other dentists that take a look at your teeth and go 'Yeahhhhhh......you realllyyyy need to brush more', Dr. Gordon really pushes you to start taking better care of your dental health by a different approach. For example, during a teeth cleaning he went 'Yeah hopefully after this it'll make it a lot easier for you to floss'. Also, he's very non pushy regarding services. After my cleaning he went over a plan of action that only included what was needed and nothing extra. Mercedes also goes above and beyond and is very fun to talk to! One thing to keep in mind, the lot behind the building is paid parking and the office does not validate. One visit cost me $12.50 in parking!! However, there is street parking around the corner, so come early and save yourself some money. read more

I saw this dentist is 2007! Hopefully he is better now. I go to the dentist every six month, and have my entire life. I do have an occasional cavity. He said I had a cavity on my first and only appointment and drilled and drilled and drilled. I wanted to get up and leave I was so uncomfortable with that amount of drilling. My tooth hurt for months. I went to a new doctor and had to pay $500 for a crown! That tooth bothers me to this day. On a side note, I randomly met a young man at my work, who had the exact same experience with the exact same doctor. I think people need to think about dentist the way they think about car mechanics. At least get a second opinion before you proceed. read more

I've been Dr. Gordon's patient for two years and have consistently received excellent care. I've had a range of experiences with dentists over the decades, from pretty good to absolutely horrible, and have had a lot of experience with dental work, unfortunately, including a number of crowns and other annoyances. What I have deeply appreciated with Dr. Gordon is his no-nonsense approach and his use of excellent new technologies. Just today I had a very old filling that had begun to leak replaced. It was in the farthest back lower molar, a place that my previous dentists would have surely insisted I crown rather than repair. Dr. Gordon not only repaired it, but he used a laser to do it, so I didn't have to have novacaine, walking out with a pain-free, unfrozen mouth. Yes, there is some sharp, though momentary, pain with the laser, but overall, it's incredibly painless compared to the conventional option. Dr. Gordon has other technologies besides the laser that are equally great. Earlier this year, I had a cracked crown replaced. Dr. Gordon has a 3D imaging machine that he uses instead of the squishy bite impressions most dentists use. He took the images, sent them digitally to the fabricator, and when the crown came back, it fit so perfectly he didn't have to make any adjustments to it whatsoever. An added bonus is that it seems to have corrected my bite enough that I don't need a night guard anymore. I also appreciate that Dr. Gordon does teeth cleanings himself. He's the first dentist I've ever had who doesn't have a dental hygienist. I can't speak to his advice on dental hygiene -- I was fortunate to get some excellent advice from my last dentist/hygienist on that point -- but I strongly recommend Dr. Gordon for cleanings and repairs. read more
