Super quick and fast. Order two donuts and a caramel frappe. Fire stone can get really busy at times so making that left turn into the side parking lot can be tough at times. My buttermilk bar was super dry and hard to chew. I am mediately sent it back and asked for another one. I heard another young girl in there say well they're all like that. Gotta try the classics, right? Well, I've tried every doughnut on the menu, and these are my favorites in order: Nutella, Raised Glazed, Plain blueberry Lemon Old Fashioned And Honey Oat. I don't think there are any that I actively dislike, which is certainly something. I think it's pretty funny when you see a plain glazed, a texas raised, and one of those custom birthday donuts done plain. I wish that they would offer a blueberry cake doughnut iced with the lemon frosting, because that would be BOMB. After a nice savory meal I wanted some sweets! Where else would be better than the hyped "RANDYS DONUTS"!! Well spoiler alert I left a-little underwhelmed. Let me start by saying I went through the drive through and everything that could have went wrong did. The menu is a tv and inconveniently went out so I couldn't look through the menu. I had to wait about 5 mins in the drive through. Then when it finally came on I wanted the s'mores and matcha donut and the lady taking my order gave a lot of attitude and said they don't have those and they didn't have many donuts left!! If your open 24/7 I would hope u wouldn't run out of your main items. Besides that in getting the donuts I was let down as they were just AVERAGE donuts! Nothing special. Honestly the random donut shops near u are better!! The blueberry was whatever, glazed and chocolate barley average! But I have to give them credit the Nutella was bomb! Went to Randy's because I didn't want to get stale donuts from a Mom and Pop shop. Was a big mistake, drove 20 minutes just to find what looks like a pube baked in my donut! What a disappointment. Went in at 4pm today. Donuts were all rock hard and tasted super old. Additionally there were Racks and racks of Donuts. There was no way they would sell those by closing so not sure if they sell them the next day- that would explain the hard old donuts we bought. Finally! Something better than Dunkin Donuts! I remember seeing the crazy lines driving past the new Downey location and decided to wait until the craziness died down. The young man who assisted me was excellent and suggested some of their more popular items. Love: The fresh doughy texture is wonderful! I went a little crazy and ordered waaay too many donuts my first time visiting. The raised donuts stayed chewy for a few days. Donuts from other shops start to get stale after so many hours, these didn't. The frosting did harden, but I was happy that I could still enjoy the donuts after 24 hours. My faves are their, raised Sprinkle, Nutella and their Chocolate Ganache. YUUUUMMMM!! I ordered two Nutella donuts, one for me and one for a friend,...I ate mine and ended up eating my friend's too. Lol! I don't even regret it. Cons: The only thing I thought was a negative was how much I spent on donuts...over $30 and that was with a discount. Ouch! Granted, the donuts here are bigger than most places and their raised donuts stay chewy longer than most places. I didn't realize I was buying all premium donuts either. OH... the hate-love relationship. Sometimes Randy's donut is so good, the sweet warm Texas Glazed Donut. Omgee. *Salivate* But then it's a hit and miss. Felt like the aftertaste is of too much oil. Randy's donut is affordable and definitely satisfies your sweet cravings. Their dozen glazed donuts cost around $7. The Texas Glazed around 4.50$ each --- and it's HUGEEE!!!! I finally went down to Randy's donuts and it was worth the trip!!! Jacob helped my friend and I, he was charming and gave us great suggestions. The place was very clean, all the employees were smiling, even tho we were there in the evening and we were not there for too long, it was busy. They have their own parking lot and even a drive thru. We also got hot chocolate with whip cream and it was just PERFECT!!!! (They use Ghirardelli chocolate). I have never been to the original Randy's even though I used to work close to it. It was always so crowded and difficult to find parking every time I went. My dad would always brag about it but never brought me any:-( I'm so glad Randy's is now in Downey because I finally get to taste them. It was a little crowded when I went which was around 1pm. I snagged the last spot in the lot. There is also parking on the side street. The line inside went pretty quickly which was convenient. I ordered a dozen for the family. They did not disappoint. I had the maple bacon and boy oh boy it was so good. Tons of crunchy bacon bits underneath all that mapley goodness. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other specialty donuts they offer like the S'mores and the Oreo. If you're in the area check em out! read more

So I am a donut-holic, I love all things donuts. so when I heard that they had opened up a Randy's donuts close to my house I was beyond excited. Unfortunately that excitement quickly faded. The donuts weren't fresh, they have a very bland taste very doughy and they just weren't good. I was so incredibly disappointed. I've had Randy's donuts in Inglewood and I'll continue to go to that location unfortunately I can't say the same for the Downy spot. I've ordered here a couple of times. It's been kinda hit or miss. One time I ordered a dozen of beautiful and IG pic worthy donuts. They tasted pretty good. I don't go out of my way to eat donuts much but I satisfied my sweet tooth a handful of times here when I was in the area. I think In general this place is 4 stars- I gave it 5 because 1) I like the unique donuts they have 2) I can go back to this place to try the donuts I liked or even try new ones. That's what separates 5 star places and 4 stars for me in that 5 star places are ones I would want to go back to :-) The BUTTERCRUMB RAISED is a popular donut to get here- it is what I think unique to this place and it tastes great. It's got sort of a butterscotch flavor to it (I'm not much of a butterscotch person) but it's great. :-) Out of CLASSIC SELECTIONS- I've tried... CHERRY ICED CAKE- this one is just meh, looks colorful but doesn't have a distinctive cherry taste to it - subtle- also pretty sweet too. Out of DELUXE SELECTIONS... BLUEBERRY ICED CAKE- I generally like blueberry donuts so this one is biased but it seems a bit more sweeter and fragrant than others I tried before. BLUEBERRY CAKE- I prefer the Iced cake version - this one is slightly less blueberry in taste as the one above. LEMON OLD FASHIONED- another bias- I like lemon flavored donuts or cakes so this one has that nice lemon-ness to it. Out of FANCY SELECTIONS- RASPBERRY JELLY FILLED- I think this one was just meh- if you like raspberry jelly filled this one isn't much different BUTTER CRUMB RAISED- review is up above, personally and with some bias the best tasting donut here- it's a unique donut not likely to be found in other donut shops :-) CHOCOLATE CRONDY- if you like "cronuts" (croissant donuts) this one's a winner- it's got a right amount of flaky crunchiness. Out of PREMIUM SELECTIONS... NUTELLA RAISED- If you are a Nutella fan, this donuts for you :-) BACON MAPLE LONG JOHN- This one is ok, maybe mine was a bit older- or I think I would've preferred the bacon to be a bit like shorter strips rather than looking like crumbs, or maybe it seemed a bit greasy- it's worth a first try for experience if you haven't tried it :-) MAPLE RAISED WITH CHURROS This one I remember liking, I forget the what flavor of glaze syrup on top of the churros but I remember that the maple and churros working well all together in flavor :-) RED VELVET WITH GANACHE If you like Red velvet - this one's for you- probably had it twice- I remember it being moist and soft as red velvet cakes should be :-) SMORE'S This one was just so so-it's weird because you're used to a crunch from the graham crackers with melted marshmallows and melted chocolate but this is a softer bread you're biting into- mostly taste the chocolate fudge with non melted marshmallows with a subtle graham cracker flavor from the crumbs- Does it taste like s'more's ? kinda of yes- texture wise? No not much like smore's That's all I tasted so far, this place is not a sit down place although they some seating outside (I think) it's more of a drive thru and or pickup place. The staff there are helpful in giving popular choices for donuts and also their own popular opinions also. I think overall if you wanted to put in the atmosphere or seating and such this place would not be 5 star place but again I gave it 5 stars because it's a place that I can go back and once in a while even go out of my way to go for some uniquely good tasting donuts :-) Great place for those with sweet tooth- bad place for those trying to lose weight :-) read more

I've been in a few times since they opened up near me. It just took a few visits to process/ digest what I truly think of Randy's. I typically go to the same small family owned donut shop and find them to be consistent. But, after trying Randy's various times now they seem to be legit. The dough itself just seems to be a little softer/more fresh(and tastier) than what I'm use to and I've been to my go-to donut shop serval times when they are bringing out a fresh batch and Randy's still wins. I tried the original down to a few speciality donuts and I was very satisfied each time I tried a new donut combination. The line has still been a bit hectic since they are still surrounded by a lot of hype, but they are living up to it pretty well. I want to try the french toast donut but I just cant seem to get up and out the door in time. I'll make that donut mine soon enough. read more

This place deserves zero stars. Doesn't matter what day you go, they never have bacon. Don't bother asking for the breakfast sandwich because you'll never get it. They either don't turn on the flat top or they don't have all the ingredients. Imagine McDonald's telling you they ran out of bacon or sausage or eggs? It's always something with this place. And it really doesn't matter what day you go. They are always out of something even when the drive-through and the store are empty. This donut shop does not make fresh donuts often. I've been over 4 times and every time the donuts have not been fresh. If I was comparing Randy's to the Los Angeles location, I would give a 1 star. Not bad! There's a lot of hype about Randy & I wanna see Randy the man himself. Donuts were def fresh! Long lines but that's bc ppl are drive thru window spent a lot time ordering. A variety menu. Classic, fancy and deluxe and premium donuts at different prices. Classic are cheaper $1.35 & deluxe $1.60, Fancy $1.85 and lastly premium are $2.95 a donut. I got half a dozen mix & paid $11. and some change. I have never tried Randy's donuts until today. Their not bad. Def a larger menu options. They have lattes, cap's, regular coffee iced or hot & more option's. There was parking when I went on the grand opening day @ 3:30ish pm. The store itself is small with a gigantic donut on top. I don't usually write reviews, let alone bad ones but poor management bothers and upsets me. I waited over 15 mins to get an oat latte in the drive through and by the time I get to the window, it's not even ready. The person in front of me was upset as well and he only got coffee and complained and so did I. I agreed with him that one shouldn't wait over 15 mins over a coffee and the cashier respond was "I know, we're busy" not a sorry or anything...yet there was no other costumers in there. As she's making the coffee I see that she's fully making it with their regular milk pouring it into their silver frother that said oat/almond milk. When I brought it up that this isn't oat she looked all a confused, again not apologizing for their mistake or for being ridiculously slow. At this point I was running late to work because of them, and I asked for a refund from the manager that didn't give a crap about the business at all or the costumers. Again, didn't apologize for anything. I should've gone to Starbucks or Dunkin's down the street..but it was out of my way. Their customer service and lack of management is horrible. It's been a long-time coming to finally taste Randy's Donuts. This iconic donut shop is know by it's giant brown donut sign that will easily make you do a double-take when you're driving by. You seriously can't miss it, even if you tried. I've only seen it a handful of times driving down to LA, but never had the opportunity to stop. When my husband found out they finally opened up a shop in the OC, we made it a mission to go. We don't live in Costa Mesa or near it (which is probably a good thing for our diet), so we had to make this first trip worth it by ordering a variety. I forgot to take a picture, but we basically ordered 3 of each category (classics, premiums, etc). The donuts are a perfect size and a perfect price. You get such a better value here than the fancy doughnut place on 17th St that should remain nameless. Randy's gave me new appreciation for the classics. Sometimess you just want a classic donut, but made well. I really like their yeast donuts. I typically pick cake donuts (my fav is an old-fashioned), but Randy's yeast donuts are so soft and pillowy that theey became my new favorite. I especiallly liked their cinnamon crumb. The texture is a thin layer of crips on the outside, and slighly chewy soft inside. I also liked their apple fritter and the fancier donuts as well. The only slight disappointment was the blueberry donut. Nothing can compare to M&M's when it comes to blueberry donuts. (Sorry Randy's). Service was great and they offer a selection of Kean coffee to go with your yummy treats. This location has a small lot, so it can be difficult to find parking or go through the drive-thru on a busy time. We went on a Saturday around 11:30 way after breakfast hours, but it was still really busy. We kept weighing out how long the drive-thru will take vs squeezing through to get into a parking stall vs leaving and trying on another day. People who drove in behind us were more quick to make a decision and left. Luckily some other cars left as well which gave us room to get into a parking spot. It's really not a good location for a Randy's and the type of traffic they bring in, but I know real estate in Costa Mesa breaks the bank. read more

I purchased a Valentine's Day dozen donuts and a half dozen with one extra lemon filled donut. Little did I know that my total would be $53. The dozen Valentine's Day donuts were $33 a dozen! Wow...talk about price gouging. I didn't even realize that I paid so much. I didn't get a receipt. I thought I heard the girl say $33 total when she actually said $53. The donuts didn't even taste good. They were round plain donuts with chocolate and vanilla icing and a ton of sugar sprinkles on them. I will not be going here again. What a RIP off! read more
