Edit: Donut King is officially the BEST Donut shop in Norwalk. All the more reason for me to stop by I've been coming to this donut shop for 20 years now, and the donuts are hands down the best I've ever had. The donuts have the perfect amount of crunchiness on the outside with a soft, fluffy inside. I always compare other donuts to these and they are never as good. My favorite donuts here are the maple bar, chocolate bar, and devil's food cake. The jalapeño ham and cheese croissant is also one of my family's top choices! We made our way to Donut King to brighten up our Sunday morning. Chocolate, sprinkles, and glaze donuts galore, all displayed within a clean and sparkling glass casing. The selection was positively overwhelming. The service was exquisite! She was polite, kind, and served us with a smile! We felt very welcomed as first time Donut King customers! We ordered an Apple fritter, chocolate old fashioned, and a long sugar donut. The Apple fritter was excellent! Nice crispy glaze exterior with a soft cinnamon-y apple interior. Everything you would want in an Apple fritter. You can never go wrong with a classic old fashioned chocolate donut. This one met all our expectations! Some chocolate donuts can be way too sweet, not this one though! It was fresh with the perfect amount of chocolate-y sweetness. The texture was soft and fluffy! The long sugar donut was splendid! These donuts are delicious. We come in the late afternoon and the selection is still plentiful but not always consistent. No biggie though. The donuts are always soft and taste fresh!!! My family super loves this donut shop! It's a quick walk from the house and an even quicker drive before work. We all have our favorites here: $1.00 bag dozen donuts holes (a must, unless they run out...) $0.70 maple bar... So addicting! I swear the donut is so soft it melts in your mouth and you're quickly taking another bite to make up for the lost goodness of the last bite. Lol! Plus, it's not a very sweet maple taste, so it's not annoyingly sweet. $7.00 mixed dozen box. We usually have them pick for us (and they're all great choices!) and sometimes we'll get that awesome "Bakers Dozen"! Glazed twist: just as addicting as the maple bar and just as soft and yummy! On rare occasions they'll serve some Red Velvet donut selections. So good!!! It's still the same on early mornings where there is a usual meeting of older gentleman sitting and enjoying their coffee and donuts. Best donut selection is in the mornings. The couple that run the place... I really dig them! Super nice and friendly! They're great at remembering who orders what, and they'll often have the order ready as you approach the window. Everything is still cash only, please! On the way home, I realized I might need another dozen so I stopped at a different donut shop closer to my house. When I got home, I noticed the difference in quality, taste, and size. Donut King's donuts were much larger, fluffier, and yummier. It's so hard to find genuinely good donuts these days, but Donut King is where it's at. P.s. MOVE OVER KRISPY KREME! In fact, Krispy who? No competition against the Donut King who definitely lives up to his name. Best Donut I've had in a long time! They are soft, moist (not the dry kind), sweet enough but not overpowering, squeeze into a mini ball (lots of fluff and air like a donut should be), and it's twice the size of a Krispy Kreme. The guy who was manning the place today was an Asian guy (of course), very nice and polite, gave me two extra donuts to my two dozen order and the assortment he picked for me was right on the money. $7.00 for a dozen?!? Rolled up on this little gem and right away noticed the small crowd eagerly awaiting morning coffee and donuts with the lines moving rather quickly(cash only) by the way and I also notice what seems to be the regulars enjoying soft, inexpensive, slightly sweet and oh so damn Fluffy donuts on benches under the patio shade away from the gleaming morning sun. Made a pit stop here for donuts otw to Disneyland! It seems like all the locals go and hang out here. I got 2 coffees and 3 donuts (glaze, sprinkles, and a chocolate twist). Mmm so yummy! This place is my childhood. I grew up eating these donuts and there is a reason I still keep coming back to this place over and over again. They have the best donuts everrrr. They're always so fresh and the texture is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. That is why, even if you just try the glazed donut, it will taste like heaven. And the croissants are also very good, the have ham and cheese, strawberry and cream, and plain, but they're usually gone by 8 am. They are just really good donuts for a very cheap price. Best coffee spot in Norwalk! John and Sophie are super friendly. Fresh roast and awesome donuts to pair with it. Locals come trickling in around 6:30-7:00 am every morning and usually stay for a while. I take to work several coffees at a time because my co-workers request all the time.
